La Vigna in South Lanarkshire

Four of us enjoyed another charming dinner on 28 February 2024 at La Vigna. The friendly welcome, high quality food and attentive service encourages us to return for truly authentic Italian cooking in the heart of Lanarkshire.

Only place in town to get a table, every outher restaurant fully booked, however the food was fab service was great, place was clean and prices reasonable.

Visited on hogmany for a meal with a friend before going out. Thoroughly enjoyed it ravioli was the best I’ve tasted. Service is excellent staff are so nice and the decor is lovely. A hidden gem in Lanark will absolutley be back.

Just home from our 1st visit. Can't wait to return. Best food I've tasted in a long time. The mushroom pastry basket starter was so full of flavour, the smell as it reached the table was amazing. Hubby enjoyed the pate starter, and the chutney was superb. Both Fillet Steaks were cooked to perfection. I could have sat all night sampling the desserts. Unfortunately I only had room for 1, the creme brulee, did not disappoint. Both gentlemen waiters were very attentive and their recommendation of the house rose was spot on. We can't wait until our next visit. Enjoy your week off & we look forward to returning very soon.

Another excellent lunch today (12/12/23) at La Vigna. A truly hidden gem here in Lanark, providing the highest standard of cooking and service in the area.

Wonderful restaurant, welcoming,great menu. This was our first visit and was a great eating experience. The food was truly first class. We certainly hope to return.

Had a wonderful dinner here on 18 September and an equally excellent lunch today. Warm welcome, attentive staff, intimate surroundings, great food. Who could ask for more ?.

I last ate as well as this in Bologna, wonderful Italian food with perfectly judged ingredients expertly cooked. Our waiter was lovely and it is a splendid place to dine.

Wow this is proper Italian food. They do things like buckwheat pasta and osso bucco that you rarely see in the uk. I had chicken with lemon and roast veg, and very beautifully done side veg. Delicious! I’m gluten free but this didn’t phase the charming waiter, and there are various gf and veg things on the menu. The venue looks very ordinary from the outside, but do go in for beautiful decor, food, drink and service.

Absolutely great experience! Turned up late due to public transport. No drama, then had the best dining ever. Just a great place with great service.

Surprisingly good seafood! We have had oyster and baby squid for starter then clams spaghetti and roast turbot for main, all very good and fresh. Love my dessert too. Love the menu very good sections of Italian food, too many food in the menu I want to try. Can see why this place is not busy think most people just like a boring menu...but I will definitely be back again soon.

Travelling through stopped overnight to visit New Lanark. Booked here because of good reviews. It did not disappoint. Both food and service were excellent. Decor and ambiance also great despite being quiet possibly because of the heat wave. We had a really lovely evening. Better than many places we have eaten in in Italy.

What an amazing meal with our 2 Dads who visiting us for the weekend. We have just recently moved to the area in the past year but this is probably the best Italian meal we have ever had. From the service on arrival to the attention to detail between courses and of course the food was spectacular.

Celebrated my sons 30th birthday here in December 22. 6 of us enjoyed a superb meal in a relaxed and and warm atmosphere. From pre meal drinks through to after meal coffee it was excellent; the entire evening could not have been better. Great food, selection of wines and attentive, without being overbearing, service. Can’t wait to go back soon.

This is without question the finest fine dining Italian restaurant north of Florence! It is seriously special! The food, the wine, the service are all 6 star. I love dining here.

What an incredible find!!! Without a doubt the best meal we’ve had in the UK. Really generous portions, beautiful wine and fantastic service. Highly recommend the beef carpaccio, scallops with black pudding, saffron risotto with Italian sausages and ricotta gnocchi.

Fantastic food, a proper Italian that is not all pasta and pizza. Duck and lamb a favourite along with the scallops on black pudding starter. Portions are generous so you will leave satisfied. Best restaurant in Lanark

Visiting our son working in Lanark this weekend and to celebrate his birthday , I checked trip advisor for where to eat and we chose this Italian restaurant. We had travelled from Lancashire and hence didn’t know Lanack. Wow. What a find. It was such a magical, relaxing and exquisite experience. I personally find it difficult to truly relax in public, but everything about this restaurant was designed for our well being, the quality of food , ambience of the surroundings and attentive staff. What a wonderful and memorable experience . Thank you x

So disappointed by this place . The beef fillet was supposed to be cooked medium but was over cooked and dry . I could not get my knife through it readily or chew it . Although supposedly in a creamy sauce it was served in a red wine gravy with peppercorns which was not a pleasant mix . The pate starter was also dry . The staff were attentive but the food was sub par. When with a group it’s impossible to raise concerns.

Had the festive evening menu here in December, the food was delicious and the service excellent as always. So nice to see "old fashioned" service and standards.

We were treated to dinner for my husband's birthday by friends. We arrived without a booking and were warmly greeted by the restaurant owner. He gave us a beautiful table for four. It was a large circular table with plenty of room for the four of us. It had a linen cloth, napkins, fresh flowers and a table lantern on it. Whilst we looked at the menu and wine list. We were brought an amuse bouche of delicious pate . There was warm Italian bread and bread sticks placed on the table to go with it Our starters were, scallops and Stornoway black pudding, squid ink ravioli and a broth with gnocchi. The scallops were perfectly cooked on point the ravioli and soup packed with flavour. We had risotto, All the main courses were delicious and beautifully presented. Our friends had sumptuous banoffee pie for dessert and we had Scillian Cannoli which was wonderful. The main courses came with crip roundels of salad in vinaigrette full of flavour and colour. Our coffee was excellent. During the meal we were served by Aldo and Pasquale who were professional whilst being warm. The restaurant atmosphere is one where they make customers feel very special. It is a family run business due to celebrate its 40th anniversary next year. The focus seems to be traditional Italian fine dining in an elegant setting. The couple next to us had moved to Lanark 6 months earlier and it was their second visit. We are bringing my mum for lunch next month. She was a pâtissier in a 5 star hotel and has really exacting standards which La Vigna will meet. La Vigna is a real gem in Lanark's crown. Something really special.

1. The food was delicious and well presented - attentively served. 2. However, the child's plate contained spices, which are not really appropriate for children's dishes. 3.Our table location next to the kitchen was cramped with not a lot of good ambience. 4. The aroma of cigarette smoke coming from the kitchen where the Maitre D' was smoking was unacceptable for a no-smoking restaurant. 5. Overall we enjoyed our meal and would return - in a non smoking environment . . .

First class We’re guests for dinner on Sunday evening the 15th October and was most impressed. The service was very good and the layers of flavour in each course were amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would highly recommend this restaurant.

I can't speak highly enough of La Vigna. From the moment you walk in until you leave you're treated like royalty. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff are so attentive. We decided to have a seat in the lounge part of the restaurant before going to our table. We were provided with a small platter to eat while choosing our meal which was a nice touch. Once our starters were ready, we were taken through to the restaurant and our food was served. Overall, a brilliant experience and a top notch restaurant.

Service best I've seen in dining out and food even better, definitely be back for another visit.

A wonderful return trip here to celebrate my wife's Birthday. We are regular diners at La Vigna and no better place to do it. Spoilt for choice between the Summer Seasonal Menu (£26.95 - £29.95 - 3 x Courses) or the A la Carte Menu .. The food was delicious & the service, was simply top class. A very relaxed afternoon in elegant surroundings. Without a doubt, It is our top Italian restaurant outside of Italy. For any occasion, it is ideal and will continue to create wonderful memories

A traditional Italian restaurant with a lovely broad range of well made food. It's delicious and nicely presented. Our waiter Aldo was lovely, friendly and helped with our wine selection. We looked back and it's been 30 years since we were here, that's pretty shocking for relatively local customers but based on this experience we'll be back very soon.

What a gem! As soon as you walk through the door there is a genuine, warm welcome. You are made to feel special. The attention to detail is first class, from taking your food and wine order, to being shown to your table. Everything is thought about. The food is outstanding and the wine selection is vast. The most amazing Italian meal we have had outside of Italy, just brilliant. Service was of the highest quality, food and wine varied but always excellent. We went back for a second night,tried different dishes and they were just as excellent

Food was absolutely shocking especially the price aswell and the manager was not helpful and never cared about his customers I got a fillet steak apparently but tasted like two canned chewy burgers with 6 chips absolutely joke and charged 26.80 and was still absolutely starving would recommend people to go to China chef got a fried rice and curry sauce after this meal and it filled me up compared to this place and only paid £4 honestly absolute rip off

We ate here for Saturday lunch. Was totally amazing. Husband had Dover sole and I had veal escalopes, really really wonderful x can’t thank all the staff enough for such a lovely lunch x

We've eaten here twice and both times the food and service has been absolutely faultless. The menu showcases some great local produce, cooked beautifully in true Italian style. There's no Hawaiian pizza or spaghetti carbonara on this menu - it's all authentic Italian dishes, generously portioned and excellently served. Real Italian cooking. The house wine was a superb option by the glass, and the homemade desserts a real treat. We enjoyed talking with our friendly waiter who made us feel incredibly welcome. I would recommend La Vigna to anyone looking for a relaxed, authentic and delicious Italian meal.

Went here for dinner as part of my 50th birthday celebrations.. cannot fault anything about this restaurant. Food was outstandingly good. Superb prawn dish. Confit of duck was delicious as we're both our main dishes. Will be returning. I just need to find another excuse to return but I think that will be easily done.

Me and my partner was there 29/1/22 As we entered you could see the tables were to close together were you could here others conversation,then there were bread already put out on tables not covers up and no one was at restaurant apart from us...

First time together with all family members since lockdown. We were at La Vignas for Sunday Lunch as a very belated Diamond Wedding celebration for our parents. Great food and excellent service. Autumn menu had a lot if mushroom dishes which the restaurant were happy to change for a la carte dishes for those who don't like mushrooms. Thanks for a great lunch.

Starting this review saying what a lovely meal, service and atmosphere. BUT… halfway through my veal escalope I noticed a SNAIL creeping along the edge of my plate (from the parsley or flower?)… I was very reasonable with the staff and we continued our evening...

My wife and I had a wonderful meal here last night, we had been looking for a nice restaurant as we had a function in the town. I had Scallops with Black Pudding to start and Veal for my main. My wife had a very nice Sirloin Steak. We would highly recommend this restaurant !!

What a treat. The food was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. I don't eat sweets but had to try their bannofie pie. Fabulous. The decoration was classy with beautifully set tables. This will be a regular for us.

Deffinitly the best dinning experience we've had for a very long time. We took the children as I wanted them to try Italian that wasn't pizza or pasta. It did not disappoint the food was excellent and we all really enjoyed it. The service was excellent too, really pleased we managed to book a table as it was a real treat.

We had a fantastic lunch at this restaurant today. The quality of the food and presentation was spectacular. Such a lovely ambience capturing the essence of the Italian culture and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive. We look forward to returning again soon.

Booked for lunch at short notice , with no problem. Hand sanitising station as you enter. Really wonderful service. Chose from the seasonal lunch menu, which offered 2 or 3 courses. The ravioli was superb - hot and delicious. Banofee pie from the sweet trolley was excellent. Made extra delicious by the almond biscuits in the base. Very nice treat for a special occasion. Had a very well stocked bar too. With a good selection of wines. The aperitif cocktails looked fab although we were driving. A wee gem hidden in Lanark.

We were in Lanark for one night and after checking on TA decided to give La Vigna a try...and were extremely pleased we had. Beautiful food, great service and as our first meal out in months a little slice of normality
