We were fortunate to pass this restaurant our way back to our hotel from a day in the city centre. It's conveniently situated just a 5 minute walk from the city walls at the Micklegate entrance. After a quick freshen up, and a trip to a nearby off licence to pick up some wine, we returned. The young lady who greeted us was lovely, and made us feel very welcome. We ordered a Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash Soup, and a Stuffed Pepper starter from the specials board. Both were extremely nice. I then had a linguine dish, with seafood, which was absolutely lovely, and my wife ordered the Tagliatelle Alla Diavola, which she thought was delicious. The restaurant prices were extremely reasonable, given how close it is to the centre of town, and the fact that it's BYOB, makes it even more of a find ! I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant, and would definitely make a point of returning if I was ever back in York.

First let's say, we really enjoyed the food and our evening here. The few little points from now should not put people off going. It was very quiet when we went on a Thursday evening in July which was surprising. It was very warm but we weren't offered seating outside. Despite this it wasn't too uncomfortable inside. We went for pizza and a garlic bread. The garlic bread was a surprise as it looked just like a pizza and even had tomato sauce. Not really our idea of a garlic bread and not very garlicky. Pizzas were lovely. We took our own wine as they don't have a licence but they do have various soft drinks. Dessert was ice cream to cool us down. Not really great value at £6 for ordinary supermarket ice cream. This was the only really disappointing part of the evening. The ice cream was full of chunks of ice, that's not great. Still we had a good time and enjoyed. Give it a try.

This little gem is right on our doorstep - We went for dinner early on a Friday evening and had the excellent value eary bird menu. We sat on the terrace outside in the garden as it was a pleasant evening. The service and food was first class. Very friendly and attentive staff. I had the stuffed aubergine to start followed by the lasagne and then a homemade dessert to finish - all in all a wonderful experience. They do not have an alcohol licence so take your favourite wine or tipple with you. This is well worth the visit, especially on a warm evening when you can sit outside.

Small, quirky restaurant with very friendly, welcoming staff. The food was tasty and well presented. The meals were reasonably priced. They do not have an alcohol licence but there is a Sainsbury a quick walk away and I will leave it to you to ask about corkage. We really enjoyed our 3 (!) meals there. The chips were hot and crispy. Pasta dishes are Italian in method, so not smothered in sauce 👍. Vegetables are fresh and visible on the plate and in sauces, not some occasional tiny cube of red or green that could be anything. Great.

As a family of 3 and after a very tiring retail therapy day decided to visit this little restaurant as just a few steps away from where we were staying in York. Only ones in there on arrival (6.45pm Thursday evening) so extremely quiet. Very attentive staff who was very happy to help with our questions. We went with steak in peppercorn sauce; steak in peppers; bolognese and garlic bread to share. We were all very impressed and could have eaten it all over again. Not left hungry by any means - was just so tasty. Our son thought the banana milkshake was absolutely delicious too. We’re home again now (next day) but had we been staying another night would most definitely visit again AND will visit again next time in York. We’d say it is a bit of a hidden gem! We even got to say thank you and wave goodbye to the chef 🙂
