La Tavernetta in Southampton

We made a return visit here last week after several years of forgetting about it unfortunately.We visited lunchtime so was quiet the waiter made us feel welcomed we had a selection of breads to start then both had something from the special board followed by desert all the food was delicious at a reasonable price.I must say La Tavernetta will be back on the books for another visit very soon.

Went here for my Birthday yesterday and had a lovely time - the food was nice and there is a good varied menu available along with a specials board - the staff are very friendly and I would be more than happy to recommend this restaurant to anyone - thank you for a lovely time yesterday

A really good Italian restaurant with the owner prepared to go the extra mile with food and service.

A very nice experience, both in taste and behavior. What we ordered was very tasty, penne polo (which the very nice guy was happy to adapt to our needs), penne chorizo ​​and vegetarian risotto. Very pleasant surprise his mussels that we got as an appetizer. I recommend them all.

Excellent place for dinner... kid friendly place. We sat right near the bar which got the draught from outside every time someone came in or kept the front door open while trying to find a table. This was discomforting

Such a great consistently high standard of delicious and varied food with lots of choice and adaptability for vegan / gluten free. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. They go above and beyond. Been coming here over 20 years and never ever been disappointed. Thank you !

What a Wonderful Restaurant! The food was amazing and the service above and beyond. I went with my family a party of nine they accommodate us without any problem. The food was completely fresh and well made. The pizza, risotto, pasta, and Homemade Tiramisu were DELICIOUS. The server treat us fast, efficiently and all the request that we asked were on point. The Restaurant was clean and very cute. Overall you have to stop here to enjoy a great evening.

My daughter took me here for mothers day and I had the the most amazing time the food was really tasty and the staff were so welcoming. I would highly recommend la tavernetta.

Had a very positive experience dining with my family. The service was exceptionally quick, and our waitress, Hali, was amazing—friendly and incredibly helpful. We will definitely return and request her. In my opinion, it's the best Italian restaurant in Southampton.

Friendly staff works there and serves good food. The menu is not large which I liked, however there could have been more vegetarian options in my opinion. Nice and quiet atmosphere for a lovely evening. Would visit again.

I visited for lunch, with a friend. At his recommendation we both started with a mussels starter. This was accompanied by a generous amount of an excellent wine and cream sauce. We both chose a pasta dish for the main course, the waiter allowing us to modify the ingredients - adding parmesan to the sauce in one case, and switching the type of pasta on another. Very friendly and efficient service. Again, both dishes were embellished with delightful sauces. We ended with an Americano coffee, which was of good quality, and will certainly be revisiting this restaurant in the near future.

This restaurant was a great find. My mum and myself meet here every time we're in Southampton and the food never disappoints. We have been multiple times and enjoyed pizza, pasta and the special board. All of it looks and tastes fresh and authentic. The staff are friendly and patient, and very generous with a complimentary limoncello drink one time! Inside feels relaxed, but also warm and nicely set for an evening meal. Highly recommend to anyone. We will be back very soon.

First time visiting Southampton and La Tavernetta did not disappoint. Super friendly and informative service and incredibly accommodating. Compliments to the Chef for the fabulous spicy tomato sauce he came up with on the spot for my deep fried Calamari sauce ! Thank you !

saw this little gem of a place on our way back from westquay one evening, so thought we’d check it out . After being kindly greeted by Natalie we soaked up the lovely atmosphere with an array of Italian dishes . Food is amazing and definitely money worthy ! Peter had such a great smile on his face and dispite the two person front of house team being slightly rushed of their feet for a Sunday evening the service was personal and friendly . We will definitely be back ☺️x

Great well priced pizzas and good service. We went after a show at MAST sunflower studios and it really finished off our evening well. We felt very welcomed as a family.

I am coeliac so need gluten free. The manager here is always so very helpful. They can adapt all pasta and pizza dishes. The garlic and cheese bread is amazing. My favourite Italian restaurant. If you are in Southampton, nearby, or visiting, you should try it! There's a daily specials board too. If you have any allergies or food intolerance, be sure to tell the manager and he will help you. Can't reccomend enough.

Stopped here for a pizza before going to St. Mary's to see the football. Quick service, lovely food. Will come here again when we're in Southampton

This was my third visit with my son ahead of a Tuesday night football game, extremely friendly greeting, scrumptious food and very attentive, looking forward to our next visit already.

We were looking for a lovely Italian place to dine since leaving our holiday in summer and here we’ve found it. The food is fresh, tasty and beautiful and the service is perfect to match. We dined there a few months ago to try and now can’t resist when choosing where to go out for a meal. There main meals for traditional pizza and pasta is always there but also always specials including lovely seafood. Lovely staff who always make sure we’re happy and lovely and warm and nice but not to loud in the background music. As a married couple our new fave place xo

This is a nice Italian restaurant with a great atmosphere and delicious authentic food.

Called in here randomly on a Friday evening, not booked but they managed to find us a table, food and wine was amazing as were the staff, especially waiter James who went above and beyond to make sure the food was to our specific taste, highly recommend.

Wonderful! My husband and I were looking for a dinner spot after a day of travelling. The restaurant looked so cosy and inviting we decided to give it a try and WOW!!! We had such a fantastic meal. The calzone was huge and delicious. The seafood risotto was pure food comfort. The service was brilliant, excellent waiter. We left with our spirits high and our tummy full. Will definitely be back again!!

I was there on 25/01/2024 around 19:00 and found the restaurant with enough free seats and I liked that a lot because the chef had time to make me food quietly without the pressure of orders. The girl who served me was very kind and extremely attentive to customers. The food was super basic, nothing extraordinary, but for the asking price you shouldn't have high expectations.

Went for a pre-theatre dinner and was really impressed. Lovely clean restaurant, friendly and helpful people working there and the food was delicious! Can especially recommend the tortellini and profiteroles.

Booked here for my partners birthday as a group of 8. The staff were very attentive and gave us plenty of time to order and eat. We did not feel rushed in the slightest even though one member was a little late. The food was fantastic and authentic. They also do lovely cocktails and have a good selection of wine.

Food was amazing, the Mrs and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable throughout our time there. Would definitely come again and recommend to our friends and family.

From the outside this restaurant looks like any other step inside and you will receive amazing service and amazing food that you know is cooked to order in a tradional Italian way. 100% recommended, I will definitely be rebooking the next time I am in Southampton

The waitress was especially lovely, and the food was delicious. We had a wonderful time.

The whole experience at this restaurant was superb. We had a lobster ravioli on the specials menu and the fettuccine salmone on the main menu. Both dishes were delicious and authentically Italian. The Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand) was very smooth and excellent value for money. The service was fantastic and we had a great chat with our Italian waiter. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and we will definitely return when we are next in Southampton.

We visited on a very busy Saturday night with 12 of us in our party. Including a wheelchair user. We were met by a very friendly member of staff who led myself and my son (wheelchair user) straight to the lift so we could access the first floor where our table was. We sat looking out over the street. The restaurant was busy. But this added to the lovely atmosphere. The food was ordered and it came quickly and was piping hot. It was delicious. We all really enjoyed the food. There was something for everyone. The 2 waiting staff that were serving the whole floor did so expertly and you would have thought there were more staff as they were so efficient. For wheelchair users this restaurant is tight. But with a lift to both floors and the disabled facilities we didn't have a problem accessing anything. Thank you for a lovely meal and for making us all feel welcome! Will definitely visit again.

Some of the most amazing food I’ve had in this country. Lobster ravioli special was to DIE for! Caprese salad is such a simple dish and yet these folks have truly perfected it. Great atmosphere. Great value for money. Will absolutely be coming back!

We had a lovely meal here before going to the theatre. Great location for city centre. The service was fantastic, very friendly and helpful staff. The food was amazing, the lasagne was delicious! Would definitely recommend and will be coming back here!

We came for a dinner on Saturday night, delicious food, great atmosphere and very friendly staff. I don't know the names but one of the waitress was Polish and another one Bulgarian.Both amazing! We enjoyed so much so we came back in Sunday lunch. Ordered the same delicious food and been served by very nice guy. We live in London and so shame you are not our local restaurant:( loved it!

Lovely place, good vibes and nice staff 😁 given 4* food as our risotto just needed a touch more cooking, but I can't fault on only one miss out of many successful meals there. Toilet facilities are a good clean standard too.

Went for a family dinner. The restaurant itself is aesthetically very charming and the staff were warm and helpful. Margherita was delicious, generous size, good balance of sauce and the dough was nice and light. Nice glass of red or 2 to finish with. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and service was very fast. Explained we did not have loads of time as we had concert to go to at the Guild Hall. Service was great and speeded up delivery of the food for us. Food was lovely. Friendly smiley staff.

This was a wonderful restaurant. We were in Southampton for tonight's, and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone if you would like some comfort food meeting, pasta, pizza, a great salad, etc. The wine was great. No issues at all on that . And more importantly service was very good. They asked if we enjoyed our food. If we enjoyed the wine, would we come back? I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Let me reiterate, you must be a pasta, pizza person. They did have other things but that's what I had.

We had a party of ten and were seated upstairs for a 13:00 lunch. We arrived early but the staff were lovely and accommodated us. We had starters which arrived without and delay, I had mushrooms in sauce which were lovely. The meals completely varied from risotto, oysters to steak and all came out together. The food was cooked perfectly, everyone enjoyed their meals. The desserts were equally scrumptious. Our waiter was fantastic, really nice chap and great service. The meal was for a birthday and at the end of the meal they brought us all a complimentary drink, they noticed I was only drinking soft drinks so I had a mocktail, which I thought was a nice touch and good attention to detail. The only tiny comment is that it's not ideal for children, we had our nine year old and although they offer children's portions, it isn't a children's menu, especially for "picky eaters" but that's on us on not them. Great restaurant with a lovely ambience, beautifully decorated and the toilets were super clean. Highly recommended.

Excellent service. Friendly and attentive. Food was generally acceptable although the fish cakes starters were cold; we weren't charged for them. The bruschetta lacked flavour. Needed Basil & Garlic. The main courses were OK. Overall an enjoyable evening with friends. This was our first visit.

Maybe one of the few “OKAY” Places around. Usually it’s bad around here. So the 4-star is only a relative to surroundings but not in general, if in Italy then it’s at most a 1 star. Chatty nice and helpful Polish waiter and waitress. Food with too much cheese and doesn’t feel cooked fresh. But it’s tasty I have to say better than anything around.

Visited Southampton for the weekend and dined here both Friday and Saturday night. Had starters, mains and dessert and all tasted delicious. Very friendly staff with a lovely atmosphere.

The food was good. But charging £4.50 for a miniscule amount of peppercorn sauce is daylight robbery. I spoke to two waitresses, one was not I interested the other side she'd tell the owner....I'm not convinced she will. Don't pay extra for the sauces.

Found this restaurant when taking my son to University. The food was great , portions sizes large and the service excellent.
