Great place with Spanish music. Paella was very tasty and loved the cocktails!

Maybe we came on a bad night. Service was awful, more than 10 mins between dishes that were meant for the same course. We had the choice of either starting the tapas or letting it go cold. It was the kids meal that was the slowest. My mother said she would swap dishes with my child so he could get on and eat. I thought it was basic restaurant knowledge that you serve the kids meal first to reduce the chance of a kiddie meltdown and improve your chance of a tip? The mocktails / cocktails arrived after we had finished everything, I told the server that we didn't want them because we had finished. Rice balls were nice. Meatballs were tough and tasted shop bought - also had too much sauce. Child's chicken was far too spicy (we did ask beforehand and were told it was seasoned but not spicy). Chicken strips were good. Anchovies were served with far too much tomato and the whole dish lacked flavour. Peas and chips (kid's meal) we're good. The same bread was served with everything and the same sauce was served with 3 of the tapas dishes (putting it in a different shape dish doesn't make it different). Lazy tapas dishes and bad service. It was £75. Because it was a birthday treat I didn't complain (I did mention timings and kid's chicken being too spicy), I didn't want the birthday person who had chosen the restaurant to feel bad.

Went out tonight for our 9 year wedding anniversary. Food was nice but the amazing waitress made it really special for us. Shots & chocolate message written made it really lovely. Superb waitress. I wish I got her name but if you read this. Thankyou so much 🫶🏼

Came in as a group of 9 on father's day and we felt accommodated as soon as we arrived. We were welcomed to our big table they put together for us. Took everyone's orders which i thought was a hard enough job on it's own to get everything right for everyone given there were so many of us. The service was on point from everyone. Everyone loved their food, first time a lot of the group had tapas and it was a good first experience. The dishes had nice flavour and were cooked until crispy. I had the rice balls which were definitely my favourite. I also had the patatas bravas and the deep fried mozzarella.

Really great service from the staff, super attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic and so are the cocktails, especially the amaretto and peach sours. We went on opening night and food came out quickly. Cocktails were a little slower but you could tell it was because the effort was going in to make them amazing. Was a little bit pricey but it was good quality to justify.

I was trying to be hopeful when my partner brought me here. We sat down and I ended up checking the reviews and was concerned when I saw “clearly frozen food” and “no spices/bland food”. There was no veggies on the menu that weren’t deep friend. We ordered the sardine toast, papas bratas, chicken paella, and chorizo. The chorizo appetizer was the thinnest slices in an extremely liquid sauce (didn’t bother to cook it off). The potato’s were clearly previously frozen and then baked with the sauce on the side. The toast wasn’t terrible and had generous tomatoes on it but only one sliver of sardines. The paella (which took 20 min max… which means it was just in a big pot back in the kitchen. It came out and didn’t have the appropriate accoutrements and the chicken was way over cooked. Everything was tasteless and under spiced unless chorizo was in it. The staff seemed very nice. The music was having an identity crisis by playing reggaeton for a Spanish food restaurant. Overall don’t recommend.

We popped in with friends. It's not so well known that they do cocktails and there's a lovely bar. We had two rounds of drinks and were looked after. We have eaten here too in the past and suggest more veggie options. BTW there's happy hour twice a week too. We will be back. Regards, Lyndon S.

Nicely renovated, great outlook onto the Buttercross and a friendly, welcoming and professional hostess. However, the food... ... presentation was unappetising - whitebait on limp white bread for example - and I don't believe any of it was freshly cooked. Since when did (7 or 8) tapas dishes all arrive at the same time??!! Calamari was rubbery. Can't think of a single dish that was well executed. Shame. And the hostess deserves better.

Lovely cocktails, but the food is not good at all. Ordered calamari, mozzarella, chicken skewers and pork skewers. All tasted frozen, calamari was so fishy and obviously cooked from frozen, one small bit of burnt mozzarella for £6.25!!!! The skewers were flavourless, wouldn’t recommend what we ordered. Maybe we ordered the wrong stuff but didn’t think we could go wrong with what we did get.

This was our second time visiting La Taperia. Went in September and it was fab! The food last night was not good. We had 7 tapas items between the 2 of us. It was edible but generally very bland and under seasoned which was a great shame as we had really been looking forward to coming back here. Food was on the table in under 10 minutes from ordering but food temperature was variable. We each had a cocktail and they were good but overall disappointed in the food and will not be coming back. We don’t often go out to eat because life is expensive so giving it another go isn’t worth the risk. The staff are friendly. We had said to the waiter that the tapas was bland and needed a lot of salt adding just to add some ‘flavour’, which to be honest, neither of us tend to complain because scary. It was more ‘feedback’ and honesty after being asked how the food was. Then someone else came over to ask what the problem was but as I wasn’t expecting that, I felt very uncomfortable and put on the spot. Complimentary churros were brought over after asking for the bill and declining dessert, at which point we really just wanted to leave. The waiter did transfer these to a takeaway container because it seemed rude to say we don’t want them even though we didn’t… It may have just been an off night. Maybe there was a different chef to the last time we went. Who knows. The olives were nice…

I was so surprised how bad the food is here given the reviews and was really disappointed. I wish I'd looked at the menu beforehand as there were plenty of red flags. Everything was very bland and didn't taste fresh. I've been to many Tapas places before and I've never seen anywhere with so many breaded options (they probably come in frozen) and lacking vegetables (even padron peppers weren't on the menu which is a Tapas staple!). It worries me that other reviews have been calling this food authentic. The chorizo we ordered was equivalent to pepperoni pizza toppings. We ordered mussels and a few of them were closed and shouldn't be served, especially given the portion sizes. The olives were practically served in the brine they've been stored in with a few herbs chucked on top and weren't worth finishing. The bread that came with some of the dishes was limp. Everything else we ordered (whitebait, calamari, patatas bravas, anchovies) was edible but flavourless. Service was really friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was great. But if you like your food to taste of something, definitely avoid. We won't be coming back.

The tapas was great. The experience was spoiled at the end by an argumentative waiter over a mistake that they made on the bill for which the manager apologised before we left. Nice location at the top of the high street.

The service in this place was fantastic & the staff could not do enough for us but the food was unexciting. There was nothing wrong with the tapas, they were just a bit average. The paella was really tasty. Unfortunately there was no atmosphere as we were the only group there! They need to create better mood lighting & ambiance...it felt a bit bare.

What a wonderful choice to stumble upon. Fabrizio was the most welcome and engaging host. Service was great, food perfectly delicious. Would highly recommend and wish them all the best.

Me and my friend booked a table here for Saturday evening. I was blown away with the amazing service, the man serving us was so accommodating and friendly. I had 3 tapas dishes and my friend had 4 and it was more than enough. The patatas bravas were some of the best I best I’ve had. Pricing was so reasonable and all the dishes we had were so so tasty. We even got given some free churros for desert. Will definitely be returning and highly recommended. 10/10

Came with such high expectations for our 5th wedding anniversary. The drinks were really pricey and not great- I had a very bitter sangria that tasted mostly of cheap red. Food was very underwhelming. Patatas bravas was just frozen, fried pieces of potato and the serrano ham with bread made the bread soggy. Chorizo was tiny and nothing special. Waitress forgot our main order so we only ended up with 4 tapas but didn’t bother asking for the main as we didn’t want to spend more money for such poor quality food. Real shame, Chippenham needs more good food options but this isn’t it!

We live in Chippenham but generally travel to Bath or Bristol to eat out due to the lack of quality restaurants locally however, this is our second visit here and we love the place. Great food, cocktails are lush and the service is superb. Thank you guys, we will be back!

With all of the positive reviews and a 4.7 star rating (at the time of writing), my 3 friends and I decided to give this local restaurant a go. A much needed place in Chippenham, but sadly this did not live up to the hype of the Google reviews. We were directed to a table and then forgotten about. No drinks order was taken and we waited over 45 minutes before getting out of our seats and speaking to reception before they took our orders. Not much of an issue as sometimes restaurant are busy, and we understand these things do happen. An innocent mistake by the staff I’m sure. But sadly after ordering our drinks and food we waited over 1.5hrs for food to be served. There was no update about what was going on and no apologies for the delay. Nobody came to our table and we were left there. Nobody offered to fill up our water glasses and we weren’t even looked at again. When our food arrived we then asked for a refill of water, great we thought, the issues were behind us. However one tapas was missing and had to be made, and we were given a starter which we didn’t order. We asked the waitress what this starter was and she didn’t know and didn’t offer to seek clarification with the kitchen. It wasn’t ours so we didn’t want to accept it, naturally. Whilst eating we were a bit shocked, we saw rubbish being carried right through the middle of the restaurant. I understand getting rid of rubbish is important, but as a frequent guest in restaurants I have never experienced waiters carrying rubbish through the main restaurant dodging guests sat in chairs. Odd, but nevertheless we are still here to enjoy the night. So we carry on. The food (surprisingly, based on the many positive reviews) was bland and tasteless. We all thought the food was basic and the meal quality did not justify the price. Very disappointing. I’m certainly not a foodie but even I can make better tapas with a Hello Fresh Box. Portions were also unusually small, but I won’t hold that against them considering it is indeed tapas. After this we wanted to leave so we asked for the bill. We were offered desserts twice before the bill was given. I get their desserts were probably as flavoursome as the main, but we asked for the bill, so please give us the bill. When the waitress arrived with the card machine she made no comment and provided no eye contact and certainly no pleasantries. She took payment and walked away without saying anything. Odd we thought because in every other restaurant, when the customer pays, they say “Thank you” or “That’s all done, hope to see you again soon”. But she just walked away. We all looked at each other thinking is that it? are we good to go? ok, bye then. We opened the door to leave and we were stopped, rudely, to check if we paid for everything. What seemed to be the manager was going through many different receipts and we waited maybe 5 minutes in the entrance before we were then offered shots. Shots? I did think maybe it would help us forget the evening but I declined. After being given the all clear we left. I would understand if there was an issue with the card machine but payment was made at the table, a receipt was given, and we left. This was solely down to their dysfunctional ordering system. We had a chat about this in the car and we couldn’t think of 1 positive thing about La Taperia which is a real shame. I completely understand they may have been busy, and I also understand they are new (relatively speaking) in town. However the service was very poor, the staff need better training and the meals need improving. Hopefully the many 5* reviews are genuine, but certainly, we were not lucky enough to share their experience.

Unfortunately my experience wasn't as good as what I read on the other reviews. We ordered a paella and it was the tasteless one I've ever had. Looked so pale, the veg weren't cooked enough... I was expecting frozen seafood but I thought it would be cooked all together with the veg and have some flavor... but no. We couldn't even eat it. I'm wondering if we were just unlucky or what, reading the other reviews. The staff was really nice but I would not go back I'm afraid.

Have not had Tapas in years so thought we would give this place a try. Seated straight away and at a lovely big table just for the two of us, the decoration is so relaxed and spot on, comfortable chairs and we didn't feel at all cramped. The young man that served us was just brilliant, happy and helped when we had questions, we felt attended to but not rushed. The food was just superb, hot, fresh, and so authentic. Best Tapas I have had, probably ever. Kudos.

Wonderful tapas restaurant with very friendly and attentive staff and great food. I especially loved the mussels, really really good! The prawns were also delicious. 5 dishes were shared amongst two people and was just the right number of dishes without feeling too full. Highly recommend.

We went in on a quiet Monday not expecting much, but glad we found it. The boss recognised us from another local restaurant and made a fuss of us. Food is delicious and friendly staff. We'll be back.

My partner and I decided to visit here on a Sunday evening, it was quiet with plenty of tables, we didn’t book, so didn’t have a problem turning up. Spanish cuisine is probably one of our favourites and we visit a tapas restaurant in Swindon quite regularly, so at least we had something to compare it to. The menu is small, but it has a great selection of both hot and cold dishes, we ordered a wide selection, but the muscles and calamri were outstanding. We were presently surprised with the portion sizes, and everything arrived to us steaming hot. The good was incredibly tasty, and brought us right back to sitting on the seafront in Spain. We had 3 courses each (starter, tapas and a pudding each), two alcoholic drinks and 2 coffees and it totalled £71, we thought this was extremely reasonably for what we had and the portion sizes. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning!

If you love tapas this is a great place to get food that is authentic and comes in portion sizes that won't leave you hungry! Sadly, didn't get to try the cocktails tonight (got work tomorrow!) but being sat near the bar we saw a few go past and they looked great! The staff were lovely too, so will definitely be returning!

La Taperia Tapas&Cocktail Bar is a cosy place with lovely Meditterranian decoration. They have different types of tables in warm colours and the lating music just adds to the atmosphere. The staff are welcoming, our orders were taken quickly and the food was served in a short time. The portions are of good size for tapas and are beautiful and delicious. The churros is probably the best in Chippenham. Thank you all for the lovely time.

Very nice idea. Cocktails were amazing. I didn’t have anything to eat - nothing vegetarian on the main menu. I wonder if they have a different menù for vegans/vegetarians. Will go again to check on this.

Went here on a Friday evening at 6pm and we were he first people there. Such a warm welcome and soon the place began to fill up. Such a great atmosphere, service and food. Fabrizio was “front of house” and an absolute asset to the business. All servers were extremely friendly and served us with great efficiency. The food was amazing. We had a veg paella and various tapas - all delicious but the absolute star was the Crème Catalana to finish. Such a great eatery in Chippenham and I would thoroughly recommend.

I don't usually get around to writing reviews, but wanted to write this one. We have been looking forward to trying out this new Tapas Restaurant in Chippenham, since it first opened, and last night we managed to do it, taking our two teenage daughters along as a treat. So nice to see something different in Chippenham. I loved the tastefully done interiors, the general atmosphere and the food was top class, as good as the best Tapas restaurants we've been to, including those in Spain. I run my own two hospitality businesses and know how important it is to greet, serve and generally keep customers happy. When I asked the man who was serving us, "are you the owner" he said no, I'm the manager. This chap gets 10 our of 10 for a wonderful welcome, top class customer service and a refreshing sense of humour! I can see us visiting this place over and over as our new favourite place, as I couldn't fault one thing. Thank you for such a great meal and welcome. Wishing you all the best in 2023!. Anna

Great place for a group meal, and a lovely Atmosphere. The food and drinks were great. Service was good and the staff very friendly, could do with a little more organisation to help it all flow better though. Overall, a great evening out and well with the price I would go back to try other dishes on the menu.

We visited this restaurant yesterday on the recommendation of friends. This is a delight! The atmosphere is great, the waiters work quickly and efficiently. The food is great and at very affordable prices! I recommend visiting this establishment.

Lovely evening out at the new tapas & cocktail bar La Taperia Tapas&Cocktail Bar food was delicious and cocktails great, also do mocktails that are not on the menu, not that I had a mocktail but my mate did as she was driving!! Staff very friendly, def recommend and will be back.
