Instead off going out we decided to have takeout from La Scarla Restautant, We had Brushchetta with the most amazingly sauce, to follow Cannelloni with Garlic Bread it was amazing would highly recommend very reasonable prices Very satisfied Ruth Clarke

We have been to La scala twice in recent weeks and have enjoyed it very much. The service is very good and friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. The house wine is a bit disappointing and we don't always want to order a bottle. We will certainly carry on visiting, and enjoying La Scala

If I could give 0 stars I would. I’m not one for posting a bad review but I feel the need to. Absolutely appalled at the service we’ve just received. Went for a lovely Mother’s Day meal. I ordered the cannelloni. A dish I have often at many other Italian restaurants. So I had one mouthful and couldn’t eat it, it had a strange curry like taste. Not your usual tomato and cheese spinach vibes. The owner came over and was disgustingly rude, telling me lots of people have it and what’s wrong with me ? Excuse me ? Are you for real ? You don’t speak to customers in that manner. He then stormed off when i said it was a dish I eat regularly. How he gets any business with an attitude like that. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in my life! Safe to say I won’t ever eat there again. Let me add I was very polite and was still willing to pay for the food I didn’t eat. I do however have to praise the lovely waitress that made me feel slightly better, about the manor I was spoken to by the man. She apologised on his behalf and took the dish off the bill. Not impressed, so to anyone reading, I’d avoid if I was you.

As always the best around, old school Italian the wey it should be. The flavours here are totally authentic, seasoned, and how it should be. Thank you team.

Everything about the night was excellent from starter to desert. The food was cooked to perfection no complaints with anything. The service was really outstanding lovely place. only opened Wednesday to Sunday, so make sure you book. you will not be disappointed.

This is a great place for a family celebration. The food is very well cooked and vegetables served individually. The staff are polite and professional. Thoroughly recommended.

I haven’t been here in years so I was a little nervous about booking here, I didn’t need to be, had a little drink with my elderly Mum in the bar area first then we went to our table, excellent specials menu & main menu, I ordered the seafood salad it was delicious. I definitely recommend La Scala and we will be back. Thanks guys

We visited with family and have been many times before April of this year. However, the man who seemed to be in charge and was order taker was the most arrogant and abrupt person I have met in a long time. It was like he was doing you a favour by you eating at the restaurant. The attitude to the waitresses, especially the younger ones was disgusting. He definitely needs taking down a peg or two. Putting him aside which should be outside, the food was excellent and all the other staff very accommodating. Please don’t be put off by Mr Rude, the food is worth going for.

Local but our first visit, passing so thought we would give it a try. Exterior didn’t give us high expectations, neither did the interior (dated), however once handed the menu (prices in line if not ever so slightly higher then local area..check yourselves) it was a lot more appealing and the food delivered was very good and really enjoyed by all. Taking this into consideration, environment versus food quality and quantity I would have give this place maybe a 3/4, However coupled with the fact that the staff are extremely unwelcoming and at times down right rude, we shall not be returning. My son has a learning difficulty and the way the staff snatched things from him and spoke to him are unacceptable. I’ve waited tables myself many moons ago, if I would approach customers in this way, I would be sacked. Regardless if you have a good chef, waiting/service staff “know where your bread is buttered” or lose customers.

Excellent well cooked food quick service , nice old school Italian portion sizes not huge have a starter and main course.

Lovely food would recommend, group of carers and service users, made to feel as though we weren't good enough to be in the restaurant which was a pity, would not return because of this.

Sunday evening before a Bank Holiday and the restaurant was more or less empty? Can’t understand why. Excellent food, good menu ,pleasant friendly staff, car park,reasonable prices. Definitely will be back. Please support this local business……. It deserves to do well.

My girlfriend and I often come to La Scala for special occasions and every visit has been excellent. The environment is wonderful, the service is great, the staff are lovely and the food is perfect. Quite simply the best Italian restaurant around! Can't recommended this place highly enough.

We had a lovely lunch, sea bass, duck in orange, salmon & crab linguine, all excellent, beautifully presented & tasty. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Once again the visit to my favourite Italian restaurant did not disappoint .I chose a starter and main from the specials menu and they were outstanding. Service always brilliant and friendly. Cannot wait for the next time xxx

Visited on a week night for a spontaneous meal. Brilliant service, every staff member was extremely welcoming, friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the waitor reccomended dishes. Would definately reccomend, beautiful freshly made and very tasty.

We came for my birthday meal Friday night. Although it was very good for them to fit us in last minute the standard of service was poor. The food was alright until I choked on a full, hard bay leaf in middle of the lasagna (something I’ve never come across whilst eating a lasagna before) when we discussed this with the staff with good intent, so it could be avoided in the future, they seemed uninterested and said it’s normal for them to put full bay leaves in the middle of the lasagna - even though it says the opposite online. Eventually a member of staff said they would get the manager we waited for 30 minutes and the manager still didn’t arrive and no one even came to take the payment for the bill - it was as if we were being avoided. All I can say is good job we didn’t have small children with us. Disappointed and won’t be going back.

Called in at 8:30 at short notice, given a table at 8:45, service was good, drinks and orders taken promptly. Had the garlic bread, bruschetta and ribs for started, ribs were absolutely delicious.Both had chicken Diane and brandy sauce, served with carrots and swede, broccoli cheese and rosemary roast potatoes, all 10/10. Staff was lovely and all wearing masks, not on the help out to eat out but still worth the full price which was fairly priced. Will definitely be going again x

Lockdown anniversary Dinner - we wanted something to make up for the disappointment of a lost holiday to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary - not only was La Scala open on a Tuesday but it was great.4 person meal varied from Pate to Ribs for starters and from chicken diane, pizza, tortellini - everything was hot and tasty, and delivered quicklyHighly recommended and 5 stars for the team for working so hard during lockdown.

Due to current restrictions, we had a takeaway from here tonight. Easy to order by phone using the menu on the website. Food was well cooked and hot. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks to all the staff once again including delivery drivers for providing an excellent service to our door-the food came piping hot & fresh as it did last week-we even received a courtesy call telling us it was running a little late- keep up the good work guys.

I ordered a takeaway from La Scala last night, the food was delicious, and in these challenging times, was delivered on time with minimum of fuss. I can highly recommend this restaurant, and the choice and quality of the dishes.

We have a baby so find it difficult to get out... however La Scala’ take away service is an absolute Godsend. In my opinion, and without doubt, they do the best pizza in the north west. Possibly the second nicest I’ve had in all my travels.In these times, when we are all in lockdown we will be supporting this place as much as we can. God bless you and your pizza La Scala!

This is a lovely traditional italian.booked for my birthday ,lovely staff greeted us .got served straight away.We both had starter my brother had ribs ,I had goats chesse,and garlic bread.everything gorgeous,then had chicken Diane ,we got we got a separate bowl of veg ,cauliflower cheese,broccoli,roast,and carrots.We both scraped the place ,really tasty.I am defiantly going to be eating here again

Top genuine italian food with the finest ingredients on the market. Lovely and vibrant atmosphere, the restaurant looks very modern and nice. Staff very welcoming and service very professional and attentive. Amazing choices of starters, mains and delicious homemade cakes. I've been a regular customer for many years and I will definitely recommend it for special occasions and normal meal out with family and friends

10 of us from work went for a Xmas dinner, it was excellent from the food to the staff and how attentive they were.

I went to see an old friend with family.We eaten a table of Hand made food that could have been prepared in an Italian kitchen for all we knew Food all cooked and prepared fresh by hand we spoke to the chef as he was bringing desserts from the kitchen. All staff was so friendly and eager to help, I believe customer service is key to a dinning expierences and this place made the extra effort to cater to everybody's needs at my table and from what ij seen everybody else also l. Even heard the story of how the hand painted roof came to exist over 20 years old Could not fault a thing if I tried. Easy parking and traffic links aswell. I highly recommend the pizzas and a nice Italian larger

We hadn't been here for a few years and it had changed ownership so we thought we would try it again . It was very similar to before , the food was good but nothing special it didn't have the wow factor . We enjoyed the evening and the staff were helpful

We visited on a Sunday and perhaps the menu is different on other days but our impression was that theres limits to it. Fish section was Just salmon done different ways. Steak section... Sirloin...done different ways. I can see they have tried to streamline things but I dont believe there is much choice to be honest. The food was reasonably tasty though. Not too sure if its worth it or not. Im a little torn to be honest, May try again and look at the specials list

We ( a group of 4 ) visited La Scala a couple of weeks ago. As usual we weren’t disappointed ..we were, as always made to feel so welcome.

The food was awful. My husband ordered a sea food pasta which was full of grit, they had not washed the shellfish properly. Pasta was tasteless. I ordered what I thought would be a lovely chicken dish and it was literally a thin chicken escalope like you can get at Aldi with some spaghetti on the side. No taste whatsoever. So disappointed. The garlic bread was powdery with hardly any garlic taste.

Around 15 of us went to La Scala the weekend before Christmas. We had not ordered in advance, but our starters still arrived within 10 minutes. The mains were all served close together, so that no-one had to wait to eat. We were impressed with the efficiency of the service. The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout the evening. We ordered a variety of dishes from pizzas through to steaks and all were top-notch. We had no concerns about the bill when it arrived. Well done to all at La Scala for making it such a lovely evening. We will be back.

Generally our Monday night meal was good. Just ordered some breads to share and pasta main courses. A bottle of house wine, couple of beers and soft drinks and service ok. However the final bill was ridiculously expensive. Drinks are well over priced and for 8 people, 3 of which were children, we were throughly shocked at the final bill. And to add insult to injury they added 10% service charge which took the bill to well over £200! We have dined at similar restaurants in the area at half the price and given they have just recently reopened I think this is a huge misjudgment! We all felt ripped off! So if you are going for a bite to eat, mid week, with your kids and choose here get saving up!

Visited early Friday evening and the manager was very welcoming.We went into the spacious restaurant and taken to our table.Great choice of food on the menu,well presented and served by very efficient staff.Lovely choice of vegetarian food as well as meat dishes.A great meet up with friends and relaxed atmosphere.I do recommend.We will be back soon!

Had a much improved experience from our last visit- from sitting down to ordering & Being served starters and then the main meals.Mercedes & all the staff very polite & lovely food /wine. Looking forward to booking again for this weekend along with other family members.

We called in on our way to a birthday party as we were too early, thought it looked nice, it was very warm and inviting, as we hadn't booked and it was Saturday night I thought we would be lucky to get a seat, we were seated by a very nice gentleman, and attended by a lovely drinks waitress, we were brought complimentary hors d' oeuvres which my partner loved, the menu was authentically Italian which I wasn't used to but we all settled on the Lasagne, which OMG was the best I have ever tasted, it was red hot and a lovely portion we also had the garlic bread which was delicious, my only negative would be that we weren't asked if we wanted more drinks, or If the food was OK, but will make the effort to go back again.

3 of us booked in for early evening,the staff were very attentive, and friendly.We all ordered drinks,the house white wine was very good,as recommended, instead of a Pinot Grigio. The starters were delicious,and hot, and the potions were generous sizes,the main meals were just as delicious, and cooked to perfection, ( the Surf and Turf ).everything we had was off the specials menu.At the end of the meal everyone was well feed and watered.We will definitely be paying another visit there, in the near future.

Since the new owners took over several months ago there has been all round gradual improvement to what was already a great venue. New dishes on both the normal and the specials menu. I had a Sicilian sausage starter that was gorgeous !! The decor has been quietly improved and great service as well. Very roomy restaurant and plenty of parking space make this the best choice by far for Italian restaurants in the area.

Went on a Monday for family birthday. The staff were so welcoming and friendly to the children was such a great night that we went back on Thursday as a couple. The fillet steak was cooked just right {medium rare } good amount of veg not like some restaurant that give a one person portion for two people. . The restaurant as been has been up dated and is under new management. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Fabulous visit ! Excellent food ( Risotto and Chicken in brandy and mushroom sauce ) looking around at the meals the standard was high. Attentive service .. no shortage of staff as often the case in other restaurants mid - week. I would highly recommend ! Under new ownership since re-opening and it clearly shows. Will be back with the family in a few weeks .

We really were spoilt for choice at La Scala. There is so much on the menu that the hardest part of the evening was deciding which meal would be the tastiest!

I have been to La Scala many time the place is always clean with nice atmosphere good service and excellent food. I had a Veal Milanese ( best ever eaten) my daughter had a penne pasta in a tomato sauce garlic bread was delicious I asked to swap my spaghetti with tomato with spaghetti in a garlic sauce this was no problem.

Nice selection on the menu, tasty food & excellent service. Had the antipasti and Calzone and couldn’t fault it.

Tried this restaurant again after a few recent disappointments - wanted to give them another chance being a local business- unfortunately the starters & main meals tasted so bland- the place was virtually empty-there’s other local restaurant’s which provide far better quality food- they need to up their game & quickly !!

We visited for a family celebration a group of 12. We did have to wait sometime, after our booked time to be shown to our table, however we waited in the bar area which wasn't a big issue other than not enough seating.

We were here last Friday evening with friends for dinner, we were warmly greeted at the door and shown to our table , The staff were very pleasant and efficient, nothing was to much trouble . All four starters were enjoyed, the main courses chicken stroganof with veg instead of rice were excellent as was my chicken Kiev. Thank you La Scala for excellent evening.

It didn't bode well on arrival to a half empty car park and it certainly didn't get any better when told 'sorry no draft bitter' we've run out.

Visited Saturday night at 7.00pm as a couple. Not been here in a long time as we felt it had gone downhill and the food was not very good. This time however was a different story. The original chef and owner is back and we could tell. We were greeted very warmly when we arrived and taken straight to our table where we ordered some drinks. These arrived and our food order was taken. We had a tomato and chilli garlic bread with a great big yellow chilli on top. Delicious. We both had pate and chutney and then chicken Kiev and poll stroganoff. The Kiev was beautiful and my only comment on the stroganoff was that the sauce could have been a bit thicker. I had dessert and hubby had rum floater coffee. 2 bottles of house red later and we were done. We had an excellent meal and the lady who took our dessert order and the payment for the bill (sorry I didn’t get your name) was really friendly and funny. We will be back soon with friends we enjoyed it so much.

Visited last week with some friends who live locally and recommended a visit. good first impression with a nice smiling welcome and spacious and comfortable bar area. Service was friendly throughout the evening and food was excellent. I had the Veal Millanaise and tucked in to a variety of starters and finished the meal with a very pleasant Italian ice cream. All in all a really happy experience and would return to this restaurant whenever in the area.

Hi. Went here in June of this year as a gift to us for helping people out. The service was a little disjointed as several members of staff arrived one by one to take our order, by the time the fourth one arrived to take our order, we had the starter on the table. The drinks service was also very slow.

It's the first time we've been since it reopened and we were impressed. The food wasn't served quickly but that's because it is made fresh and hot. Really good starter of Insalata Caprese (as good as we experienced recently in Italy) and my partner enjoyed the huge portion of chicken wings. Very juicy. The salmon and risotto main was delicious and my partner had the duck ragu which had the perfect ratio of pasta, meat and sauce. Again, really delicious. The house white wine was really nice. Mercedes was very apologetic about our delayed starters but it didn't matter as we received communication about timings so no problem. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and would definitely return. Good value for money. Highly recommended.

Just had a fantastic melt in the mouth fillet steak here. My family echo my sentiments with their meals. We arrived at a very busy time and the restaurant was full to capacity, so we were worried that the service would suffer, but how wrong we were, from bar to table the staff were spot on, very courteous and prompt. All the food and drinks were brilliant. We really enjoyed being back here and seeing original members of staff looking happy and enjoying the job they are so good at. Great seeing this venue brought back to life, far better food and service than similar local restaurants. The garlic bread is an absolute delight, wafer thin and very tasty.
