Staff were excellent couldnt do enough for us. A little disappointed with the lasagne, not much filling between the pasta sheets. Venison delicious.

Beautiful meal enjoyed by all 5 of us but a tad disappointed by the bill when we realized the g&ts we had been happily quaffing were £10 each. We had asked the price of gin and was given a price of £6|7 which we thought was par for a restaurant so £3 on top for tonic was way overtop. We will return for the delicious food but not gin.

Firstly the food at La Rue is absolutely delicious also the prices are very reasonable . The house red is decent and well priced . I had black pudding with rosti , poached egg and bacon everything cooked really well . For my main I had a rate fillet steak done just right . A couple of mushrooms and a handful of chips and what I believe was home made pepper sauce . We will be back and I recommend you pay La Rue a visit .

Absolutely exquisite food. Beautifully created and presented dishes. Possibly the only meal I've ever had where every single element of the dish was cooked to perfection. We had the goats cheese and Asian spring roll starters followed by the lamp rump and pork belly. Incredible. It was 3 courses for £20 however I would have happily paid double.The lady who served us was also lovely, attentive, friendly and efficient.We can't wait to go back.

We visited the restaurant a few years ago and really enjoyed our meal so decided to go again. We wasn’t disappointed.It was Friday evening and the restaurant was busy but we received excellent service .the staff were very attentive without being in yr face.Fantastic food The bill came to £67 for 2 people having 3 courses and a bottle of wine. Which wasn’t bad at all .

booked a table for a Tuesday night. When we got there we were the only customers so we asked if anyone else had booked and discovered that we were the only ones and that the restaurant had stayed open for us. The food was wonderful, every course was delicious and what impressed me was that even though we were the only customers, every detail was given attention. The young girl serving was very attentive and polite and treat us the same as if the restaurant was busier. I was so impressed by the quality of the food and the presentation that i will definitely be returning. I have read some very poor reviews and that did initially put me off (as it's many years since i last ate here) but i have to say that despite reading those, my experience was excellent. i do of course hope that the same quality and attention to detail is given on busier nights. I will definitely be recommending. i also thought the choice was extensive and some lovely meals offered. The complimentary tomato soup is delicious too!

I booked a table for 4 people a week in advance for 7.30pm only to be told on arrival that the booking had not been confirmed in the restaurant book. We were promptly offered a table upstairs which we agreed to. However upstairs consisted of a dumping ground for coats staff handbags,bins, etc. The young Lady looking after us went out her way to make it more amphosferic by finding some music and being very friendly. Our drinks order was taken but she then had to go to a local shop to get soda water. Our main course did not arrive until 9.00pm. By the time we had our sweet course the staff were hanging around making us feel rushed. The food was nice but the experience totally spoilt and not once did any member of management offer an apology. We would however like to thank Tia for her above average care and attention, they are lucky to have you, you saved our night. Sad to say we will not be returning but cannot imagine management will too bothered.

Brilliant little restaurant, great food and good service. We used to go here a long time ago and thought we would give it another go after all these years. Wasn’t many recent reviews but we thought we would give it a go and we wasn’t disappointed. Great food and and good value as they do a set menu price with an option go for some more expensive options. We had a complimentary mushroom soup which had a great depth of flavour and then both had deep fried Brie which was cooked to perfection with a thin crisp casing. I had the duck and my partner had the lamb and again both cooked to perfection. A couple next to us also loved their meal and I recommended it to a friend and they were equally impressed. We’ll worth a visit

i took my wife for a pre wedding anniversary meal, we had a very warm welcome from a nice young lady, the starters and main meal were very nice, we both had aberdeen angus steak which was cooked perfectly, we both enjoyed our night and will definitely return again and recommend booking a meal at la rue. best regards mr m hunter.

Delicious food. Interesting set menu with specials as extra options. Only one server when we went in named Megan but she was excellent and despite being short handed she looked after everybody with a smile on her face! Definitely recommend

We were planning on eating elsewhere, but when we got there they couldn't accommodate, so looked around locally to see where else we could eat La rou was full inside but accommodated on the street by moving some tables. The service was friendly and efficient and no fuss with accommodating us. We were given an amuse bouche of tomato and red pepper soup. It was fresh, vibrant and tasty. The food was all perfectly cooked with well balanced flavours. Truly an excellent find and would definitely recommend.

We had the delivery takeout option to celebrate a birthday this week, given restrictions, and it was most enjoyable. Starters were of the nicest chicken liver parfait I’ve ever had, great flavour and a curried chicken spring roll - very substantially filled with minced chicken but not as ‘curried’ - as we’d like. The lamb and cod mains were both delicious with lovely sides, sauces and plenty veg. Finally a gorgeously light and well-flavoured tiramisu cake with frangelica and treacle tart with a lovely light custard. Clear instructions ( microwave needed for some options) . Top marks and great value

We have called our two evenings getting takeaways from La Rue "posh takeaways" but only as shorthand for treating ourselves in lockdown by dressing up, setting our own table nicely and tucking in to the three courses supplied by Lee. The food was delivered to the door with clear instructions about reheating. We've tried the service twice and each time all three courses (starters, mains and puddings) were generous and very very tasty, even down to the veg, gravies, sauces and custards - not an easy thing to arrange in a "takeaway" experience. Can't wait to support them again when the restaurant reopens but, for now, this is a terrific service - and excellent value for the quality of food.

Never had a meal at La Rue that I didn't love. If I'm eating here I'm going for 3 courses everytime. Hands down the best restaurant in saltaire

Wanted to treat my husband on his birthday, which happened to be on a Monday and La Rue is open so I booked a table for two. Lovely clean restaurant and excellent food, we enjoyed every course & were delighted with the offers and the menu. We would highly recommend and will be back.

Five of us went a last Saturday night. Overall it was ok but I won’t be rushing back. It took 30 minutes for them to take our food order. Three of our starters had poached egg and all eggs were hard. The rest of the starters were nice. My main was a Thai green curry. It was ok but not the best I’ve had. The rest of the mains were really good, including beef Wellington and pork t-bone. Price was very reasonable and the setting was nice.

We visited as a girls evening out, as we do on a regular basis. Firstly the menu really whet our appetite but we all went for something different and none of us were disappointed. Each dish was beautifully presented and the taste matched. The surroundings and kerb appeal are basic and lacklustre, we were served by a young girl who was pleasant but inexperienced. However the food made up for any indecision as to a return visit. Credit to the chef, you make a truly memorable meal. Just wish I’d taken photos!

Up for work reasons and had a great two course dinner. Squid starter with chilli sauce and tuna steak on crab mash were both excellent. Hope to be able to return soon.

Lucky enough to get their last reservation we were treated to flavour packed, greatly presented food and enjoyed friendly 1st class service. And the complementary soup was a perfect start to the meal.

3rd or 4th time I have been to La Rue in the last 12 months. It doesn't disappoint with a large menu and decent specials board which is often missing from many restaurants. Great presentation and lovely piping hot food oh and always a lovely tasting amuse boucle to get the taste buds going! Very pleasant waiting staff and all reasonably priced. Can't wait to return!

The food delivered to our home has totally exceeded all expectations , a generous sized prawn cocktail followed by the most delicious home made beef Wellington , minted new potatoes a selection of freshly prepared vegetables which included asparagus with hollandaise and lashings of the tastiest Madeira gravy ..dessert a white chocolate cheesecake lots of juicy strawberries and a fudge sauce .We really cannot describe how gorgeous the meal was , just perfect ! the meal was delivered ready to just heat up and serve , so simple .. can’t wait to try the rest of the tasty menu . Thank you La Rue , you made our day !

I went to La Rue before the restaurant closures and if it was the last meal I eat in a restaurant it will stay with me. The place never disappoints. The service was great, Holly our waitress was delightful and the food is simply delicious. When we have some normality back in our lives I couldn’t recommend La Rue strongly enough. Maybe next time the pasta won’t be off the menu due to stockpilers! Stay safe and well to all at La Rue and we will look forward to dining with you again soon x

Fantastic, the food is second to none!

3rd time been here recently and the food is gorgeous. You have your table for the night and need it as the food takes time but this is expected with such a large menu and meals cooked fresh to order. Will be back asap!

We have been going to La Rue for many years but this is the first review I have written. La Rue is consistently good and probably the best value around ( 2 courses for £16, 3 courses £19, mid week plus a complimentary soup. There is an extensive menu and a specials board (steaks etc). They now offer a range of gins too.The service can sometimes be a little slow but tonight if was excellent a (full marks to the young lady taking orders, serving food and drinks with a smile!) I am surprised to see some mixed reviews but can only speak of our experience over the years.

6 of us went to this restaurant yesterday evening. Our waitress was delightful, considerate, affable and discreet. The food was excellent, freshly cooked , really well presented and portions were not over facing. Lots of choices to suit all palates on the menu and very good value for money.Will definitely return

Excellent food, great staff and reasonably priced

Usually love this restaurant have been in November with family friends in December,booked with the manager for Saturday 18th Jan ( my husbands birthday 19th) 9 days before, to be told they had no booking when we arrived & no availability all evening. ( this apparently is not a one off occurrence) extremely disappointed and glad we hadn’t booked a taxi, as then we had to find another restaurant to accommodate us at very short notice. After trying 4 we got in at The Old Glen Baildon & luckily had a fantastic meal. We will not be booking or recommending La Rue again.

This is our third visit and we have never been disappointed, the food is amazingly well cooked, delicious, wine is good, staff are helpful and extremely accomodating, chef you are a star ! Fish dishes, vegetables, all cooked to perfection, hubby and friend are steaks which they said were delicious, it's often difficult these days to find such a gem,but a gem this is and we will be returning.Thank you for a lovely evening.

New years eve I decided to take my other half and my parents to La Rue and I'm glad I did. £37, I repeat, £37 for 4 courses of which included steaks, lobster, welly's, you cant go wrong. The food was cooked exactly how we asked with great breaks in between courses. The service was golden. Young, polite and knowledgeable waiting staff made the evening all the more pleasant. I would recommend La Rue any day of the week and without doubt, I will be returning for a fine feast shortly. Thankyou La Rue!!!

As a family we have eaten out for Christmas lunch for 15 years at various venues. This was the first time at La Rue and was by far and away our best Christmas lunch. The choice, quality of ingredients, presentation and cooking was second to none. All 5 of us chose differently for each course and every dish was excellent, freshly cooked and piping hot. The service was friendly and efficient with just the right amount of attention. Altogether a wonderful eating experience. Thank you to all at La Rue for such a delightful meal.

Fabulous food great atmosphere loved it

We booked this some weeks ago for our staff xmas meal. We chose our courses, only for the resteraunt to change the menu at the last minute. Consequently we had to reorder at the resteraunt which slowed service to a crawl. I had chosen originally a vegetarian option , which was no longer available. The two options left were not to my tastes, 1 had ingredients I could not eat, the other I do not like at all. So for my main course at my staff xmas meal I had a small bowl of slightly undercooked chips. No offer of anything else or a refund. As I was sitting next the colleague that booked the place I didn't feel like making a fuss. The starter I chose (salt and pepper squid) came in a greasy batter and the squid itself was like rubber - and God only knows where the salt and pepper were. My colleague was still waiting at main course time for her main course when everyone else had finished. She had to chase her meal up several times, the initial excuse was that she had ordered whilst visiting another table, only for a waitress to come and ask about 10 minutes later 'what did you order'?

I have visited la rue a few times now and each time come away smiling the food it fantastic and the lovely lady waiting on is so pleasant. Can't wait to be back :)

Like several others who have recently reviewed this restaurant we had a deeply disappointing experience here. We have been several times before and always enjoyed it, so we had booked to take some friends, They arrived first and were told that we had to vacate the table in an hour and a half. Given they had not made the booking, they accepted this, but had we been told this at the time of booking we would have gone elsewhere. Our friends had travelled some distance and we were looking forward to a leisurely evening. (I have been to restaurants who operate a two services system but have always been told at the time of booking).

Spent an evening here with 5 friends. Firstly walked past twice as used to have a classy frontage but now looks like a coffee shop. Young females serving which made me feel ominous and I was right. Not shown to table informed could drape coat over chair but found a door handle in end. Not much veggie choice and mine was potatoes on potato - tortilla with potato topping! One lady requested no sauce which was ignored and she waited about 40mins for replacement. We had to wait another 45mins for desserts. During which time 2 other tables came ate and left but we were kept waiting. Staff only interested if we wanted more drinks and no water provided. We consequently left much later than planned only to be slow clapped by owner as we were last to leave which was very rude and unnecessary we could have left an hour earlier if staff had been more efficient. They were efficient at spraying bleach around however before we put our coats on. Consequently won't be going again or recommending. An expensive mistake.

Came in for a meal this evening at 6.30after previously enjoying the food. Upon walking in there was only another couple and a table of three in the window. The young waitress walked in before us so had obviously just started the shift despite stating they served food at 6. Waited 15 minutes before getting any drinks and there was a member of staff who kept coming out dancing behind my partner telling people to dance but kept being ushered downstairs. After another 20 minutes the couple next to us asked if they could order to which the waitress replied it would be two minutes because the chef had to get going first and this was over 45 minutes after we sat down. After much deliberation we decided to order after the waitress said the food would be quick , upon receiving a Luke warm complimentary soup the starter arrived. It was frozen calamari which was soggy and chewy and the table opposite remarked on there starters being cold. We opted to leave and pay for our drinks as both the service and food that we got was shocking and no apology until paying for the drinks. The young lad was there telling my partner to dance and still no apology! Truly disappointing

Had a late dinner here and was surprised such a tiny restaurant had about 8 starters and 10 mains. Plus a separate specials board. Not a chance that could all be cooked to order and all those ingredients kept fresh in the hope someone would order it. I really do think the chef can cook. But seriously think he should really think about a simplified order. Mostly french, but a lot of fusion dishes adds to the confusion of the menu. Fish cakes hot on the outside but cold in the middle. Over cooked belly pork. One lovely young waitress having to race around. Overly bright lights crying out for a dimmer switch. Not awful, just confused and in need of simplification.

Very friendly, been for breakfast good food plenty of choice not expensive.

Apparently this restaurant has changed decor and size considerably over the years, it is half the size and indeed the photos on trip advisor need updating as it's not as austere nor pink as you are lead to believe ! It has an intimate modern feel downstairs and much darker upstairs.

Visited this hidden gem in Shipley whilst on a business trip. Really pleasant surprise. Great quality food at half the price I’d expect to pay for it. Well worth a visit.

Nicely presented and good quality food, with a fairly extensive and varied menu. Fair prices for this quality. Seafood was good and cooked correctly. Ambiance in restaurant is a little austere, in a modernist way, but not unpleasant. Overall, good enough to go back too.

4 of us went on a Friday night. We had booked for 8:30 as the 8 p.m slot was taken. However, on arriving was told the table was still occupied and could we return at 9 p.m. Our table still not ready but we had only a short wait. By the time we had ordered and got our food it was nearer 10 p.m...far too late for an evening meal for me. I had to leave most of mine even though it was nice. The menu was quite restricted too but what we had was well cooked and presented but in future would book for 7 p.m at the latest to make sure we had plenty of time.

We decided to visit La Rue after reading quite a few positive reviews. We used to eat here regularly a few years ago but stopped going when standards dropped. Unfortunately we won’t be going back again in the near future. The good points:- the mainly young staff were very friendly and eager to help, varied menu with something for everyone, amuse bouche still gratis, prices are good value for money. Not so good points:- uncomfortable seating, tables for two in really bad positions, staff eager but not knowledgeable about most dishes and nowhere to be seen upstairs unless delivering dishes and regularly forgetting requests for water, cutlery and coffees, standard of food just average (for two different starters and mains), bread no longer offered as standard. Overall there was nothing bad enough to make a specific complaint about but it was just so, so.

Restaurant food in a cafe was how we would describe our experience. The lighting is too bright and furnishings too sparse. Nice food though and good value on the early bird price.

We ate here last night and considering it’s only 2 miles from home I can’t believe we haven’t been more often ! Great menu and specials board; my wife had the liver and duck and I had the black pudding and lamb wellington . We even had dessert which is unusual for us. All delicious and well presented. Service was excellent, very attentive. Deciding what to eat was the real challenge as the menu was interesting and varied. Great value for money and will definitely be back soon.

We were invited to celebrate a birthday. We were a party of 7, the restaurant was very busy which meant the tables were very close together so my husband had to get up every time a person from the other table needed to pay a call. Also the staircase was very narrow not the easiest the access.

Excellent menu, £17:95 for 2 courses. I had a Starter and a Main. Choice was difficult as everything sounded tasty. There were 7 of us and being a Friday night the restaurant was busy however the service was good, attentive and friendly. Location is excellent, being on the main Bingley Rd in Saltaire. Would definitely recommend.

i decided to take my partner out for drinks and a meal. i booked LA RUE for 8pm. we arrived at 7.50pm to be greeted with our table. the service was great and the FOOD, well more than excellent. we had a great time enjoying the ambience ,drink and of course the food. my partner was well pleased with the suprise. thank you LA RUE

I am not sure how they manage to offer such a wide range of starters and main courses but the food was good. The wine list was quite extensive but all low or reasonable prices. A few slightly better wines would go down well.

We came upon this restaurant while on holiday - called in to ask for a table - were told there would be a 30 minute wait, which was fine - we went for a drink elsewhere & on our return, the table was ready. Staff were very friendly & the food was amazing. Two of us had starters - home made bruschetta & pate were wonderful. Mains were equally delicious - I had duck, and it was cooked to perfection, as were my companions dishes. Together with a couple of drinks (we were too full for a dessert), the bill was very reasonable. We would definitely eat here again if in the area.

I should of done this ages ago. Iv eaten a couple of times with friends, small groups and large party's. Outstanding is a understatement. The service is great, the wine superb. And the food, well something else. Please go and visit. Go mid week for the offers as well you won't be disappointed.😁

We returned after a number of years. The fixed price menu is good value with a good selection. Food was of a high standard as was the service. Would definitely return. The only thing I would change was the peppercorn sauce with my steak which was like a peppery beef stock. Luckily it was served separately so I could just leave. Peppercorn sauce is brandy, pepper and cream - go easy on the beef stock :)

Had a lovely meal in a group of 27. The staff worked hard and the food was great. Totally recommend this restaurant. Only little niggle bill was wrong. But over all experience was great. Lovely food at a great price.

For the starters we had of bowl of mussels and the squid both ok but not the best we have had, the mains were Tempura of king prawns and confit of duck with Celeriac Coleslaw it was not good, The prawns had a wet batter not cooked inside an looked frozen and tasteless the mild curry coconut sauce was no flavor terrible. The duck was overcooked and tasteless and the coleslaw not good, our faces dropped spoiled the night really and we couldn't get over it, we both thought it was the low quality and frozen. Shame but its not good enough. The young serving staff did there best .
