Such a great restaurant. The food is delicious, the place always has a buzz to it and the staff are friendly and attentive.

It was extremely busy, which is a good sign... the food and service were both great. A drink was spilt over me accidentally, and they offered to pay for my dress to be dry cleaned, which was very kind of them.. Will definitely be going back..

This is a lovely place that we are very lucky to have locally. The food is high quality but what makes this place is the staff and the atmosphere they create. We had a small issue with a pizza order, a few weeks later when we returned they remembered and were very generous and looked after us. Our 14 year old’s review…. “Way way better than Dominos!”

On a Saturday lunchtime this restaurant is busy, we had a large table of 10 and nothing was too much trouble, all food came out at the same time, 5 meals were pizza's, how did they achieve that? The homemade Ravioli of the day with fresh tomato sauce was delightful. The chocolate and nut bombe delicious.

Authentic, good-quality Italian food. We went there on a Saturday lunch and it was quite busy, service was struggling to keep up but the food came reasonably fast. We enjoyed a few different pizzas and a couple of starters. The bruschetta was very nice. Recommended.

It was a friend of ours who introduced this restaurant with us. Hidden from the bustle and hustle of the city, this Cambridgeshire restaurant offered the best authentic Italian cuisine with us. Any Italian restaurant I go to, I would actually order the most basic, safest pasta there is and it would carbonara as I love white sauce-based pasta. Yesterday, 8th October, I was curious and asked the staff which was their bestseller so I can try it and lo and behold, he wasn't wrong. Their pappardelle mare e monti is to die for! Well-seasoned food that even my husband who has no palate for seafood, loved it. My daughter was torn with her Margherita pizza and the pasta. Thank you to the staff for bringing Italy to us here in Cambridge. Hoping to be back again!

Most abrupt and frankly rude when taking phone takeaway order, shouldn't offer takeaway service if they do not have the capacity or not willing to treat the same as dine in customers. Too busy to be polite but enough time to respond with sarcasm.

Rudest woman to deal with when taking order. In polite, hung up the phone and bad manners. Would never use.

Been here many times and it is hands down the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to! Everything is very authentic and nothing feels pretentious or like they're trying too hard. They put in the perfect amount of effort. The owners and staff are all so friendly and welcoming. As a chef I can tell how much love and passion they put into the food and its beautiful to see! Strongly recommend and I plan on going back much more often!

The food is fantastic, unpretentious authentic Italian. Delicious. Service is very slow, fine if you're not in a hurry and great if you want to spend a long time talking to your friends. A little bit annoying if you have hungry kids and can't get an order in! It's not a show stopper for me and still very worth going, but plan for the fact that they are slow.

Been here several times and have always had a great experience. One of my favourite restaurants in the area by far! The food is delicious and fresh with lots of choices on the menu and there are always good vegetarian options. The tiramisu is the best I’ve had! Great for a family meal out but have also had takeaway pizza from here too. The service can be a little slow at times but it’s understandable with how busy it gets. The staff are always lovely. We look forward to dining here every time.

Food are absolutely gorgeous. Real wood fire pizza is not really common around here. The seafood linguini is fresh and the sauce is authentic as if you are in Amarfi. Ribeye steak (outside charcoal and inside medium rare) with a dash of good quality balsamic vinegar could differentiate it as Italian bistecca. Deserts are also attractive and tasty. Definitely will come back again.

Great history, but the execution and service could be better. Friendly staff. I think they were just so busy for Sunday lunch that everything seemed a bit distant perhaps because it was our first visit. Will visit again and update this if possible.

Ok, bit stuck in the 1980s, almost empty restaurant but was given a tiny table in the corner. Food was ok.

Magnifico! All the food here is perfecto. They grow their own vegetables in their garden, and you can taste that home warmth in your dish. All dishes deserve their spot, but special recommendations are the calamari fritti, cotoletta alla milanese and tagliatella con il tartufo are my special favourites. The restaurant itself is surrounded by fields, and it sort of gives the vibes of the Italian countryside, just 15 mins away from Cambridge. Definitely try it out if you miss Italy, or you want to experience Italy at a glance. Buon appetito!

Visited Sunday lunchtime. All felt a bit rushed. I ordered the Sunday lunch option on a Sunday it’s a fixed price of £21.95 for two courses I asked the waiter if there was a vegetarian option for the Sunday lunch rather than the meat option I was told no just a roast dinner without the meat which I thought was rather surprising and the same price. I went with it and although lots of delicious vegetables which I thoroughly enjoyed and cooked perfectly I’m afraid the roast potatoes were very over cooked and verging on inedible they were so hard to cut and eat one was afraid of breaking a tooth! Yorkshire pudding was good just the roast potatoes not acceptable and I left majority of them. I did mention it to the waitress who cleared the table. With all the delicious homegrown produce grown on site a vegetarian Sunday lunch option would be good. Just a suggestion

Really worth a visit and even a detour. Food is genuine Italian and good service with a casual family atmosphere. The restaurant itself is clean and well kept if perhaps a little tired (I decided not to knock a star off). Go for the food and you won't be disappointed.

One of the best well prepared pasta you can eat around Cambridgeshire. The place itself needs renovation and light improvement, but oh my.... the food was great!

Consistently good food. Been coming to this place for a few years and had small meals and large family meals (20 peoples plus). If you are a local or travelling through I 100% recommend coming here!

We have met the same friends at La Pergola before, having introduced them to the restaurant, and they loved it so much they wanted to meet there again. The service was superb and the food divine- the marinated salmon and anchovies, stuffed squid, stone bass, lasagne and seafood stew were all outstanding. Domenico and his team looked after us brilliantly. We hadn't visited for far too long and must return again soon.

Fantastic hidden gem - we had a large lunch here recently with party of ~15 family and friends. Great service from the staff, including helping to arrange a celebration cake, and excellent food for everyone, both in terms of quality and the range offered. Will definitely be going back

La Pergola has everything you could possibly want from a family-run Italian restaurant. The hosts welcomed us in as though we were long standing friends, despite it being our first ever visit. As we had our puppy with us we were seated in the bar area, but this didn't take away from the enjoyment of the evening, if anything it added to it as we had many enjoyable conversations with the staff as they passed through, and our puppy enjoyed meeting Noah. The little details of La Pergola were brilliant; from moving us from one table to another which was a little larger, the temperature of the wine (we had the montepulciano d'abruzzo), the personal touch of friendly conversation, and food recommendations from the team. My partner, who is very picky, commented that the Picante pizza he had was the best pizza he had ever eaten - a compliment not given lightly! I enjoyed the lobster ravioli - a special served on the day - which was equally delicious. Sadly, we are from Brighton so not local - we visited during our stay in Cambridge - but will certainly be returning to La Pergola should we ever be in the area again! Fantastic authentic Italian dishes served by attentive, friendly staff in a relaxed atmoshphere. Lots of traditional Italian dishes to choose from. Pasta, Pizza, Steak, Aubergine Parmigiana, Calamari. All delicious and so were the home made deserts. Thanks to Domenico for looking after us so well. A classic Italian restaurant. Highly Recommended and will be going back soon!

I have to give this Italian Gem 5 stars. I love that it’s very authentic Italian. The waiters have an Italian accent and its charming. The food is absolutely delicious and transported me back to Rome and Sicily. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. The decor is very outdated but they focus on their food which to me is more important anyway!!

Amazing food, great and speedy service. Really nice friendly staff. They're just a few miles outside Cambridge, but it's well worth the trip , it's a lovely set up with spacious car park and kids playing area. Definitely recommend the restaurant, either for just a meal or for any special occasion. Every time we go we can't wait to get back there. And every time we stop by for a meal we are reminded why they've won best Italian establishment. Yum yum:)

Most authentic Italian outside of Italy

We haven't eaten here ,but they are the venue for the Cambridge bikers Christmas and Easter bike runs. I can recommend the bacon and sausage rolls ,teas and coffees before the runs start. Good parking good atmosphere,and we will get to dine in one day.

We often go to La Pergola for special occasions when we visit family locally. Always a warm welcome and the food is fabulous. The amaretto cheesecake is especially delicious!

Having been told its the best Italian around we were kinda disappointed. We had garlic bread and olives to start the garlic bread was not garlicy at all and tasted more like a nann bread. Olives where below par. Mains were nice I had carbonara which was very tasty but the spaghetti was to a little to Al dente. My husband had the prawn and mushroom linguine and again it was nice but not amazing. We ordered a side of chips which were advertised as hand cut but they were definitely not hand cut/home made they tasted like cheap oven chips. Deserts where limited so we just had ice cream but it wasn't good Italian ice cream like you'd expect it tasted no better than a standard tesco cheap ice cream. Service was quick but one waitress was really rude rolling her eyes at people when she took the wrong food to there table and took our food away before we were finished as well as doing this to other tables. It felt very rushed we were in and out within an hour. Price was reasonable which I guess makes up for it not being as good as advertised. Overall I'd give it a 3 out of 5.

The best family run business. Rosa and the team work so hard to make sure the food is delicious. During lock down they kept spirits high by doing take away. Thanks doesn't cover the blessing they have been to the local community.

The food was amazing! The place itself is somewhat rustic, but the food is wonderful.. I'm not normally a fan of pasta but my wife is, the pasta was really delicious. Homemade and fresh all the way.

I went there for my son's 9th birthday and he had the seafood linguine he said it was the best seafood linguine. The staff were friendly. For dessert he had the profiterole and they put a candle on it which was a nice gesture and he loved it. Overall amazing experience 5/5

Love this place and visit often, usually for lunch at the weekend. Friendly staff, and very accommodating of our doubtless annoying toddler. Always busy, but service keeps up. Classic Italian menu, all well delivered. Plenty to keep you interested over a few visits. Not trying to do anything too clever - just creating an experience you want to repeat and you want to share.

Really good Italian place, with a comfortable and modern environment. They understand good food, you can see by the way the dishes are cooked, cured, and set. Highly recommended. Have not been since the pandemic, and was pleasantly surprised: if anything, La Pergola is now even better: the menu has a number of exciting dishes, the floor staff and the owner are super nice and friendly. It looks like it will become our 'regular'...

Lovely food and service, classic Italian!

Good party atmosphere. Good home style cooking. Burrata was straight out of the fridge, which was hard to taste. Pasta was good. Tiramsiu was a little disappointing in that it was mostly cream. Overall we had a fun evening. And reasonable price.

Real Italian food, you can only find it at the Pergola. We have been twice and we will come back as many times as we feel the need to eat something authentic Italian. Kind and friendly staff.

Visited here with friends for a lunchtime meal. All the food was really good, with four clean plates !! Great friendly efficient service. Only marked down 1 start due to the noise level, but not something they can control.

A really relaxed place for a lunch/dinner out in the countryside, can be a really convenient stop after a visit to Wimpole estate. We were a party of 4 and a 2 year old. We were well looked after and I really liked the atmosphere on a Sunday noon. Our dishes was a bit uneven in how we enjoyed them overall, but some really stood out for the better like the tiramisu and the gnocchi.

We stopped here for lunch on our way back from holiday. The food was surprisingly good. The pasta dishes were very tasty and cooked to perfection. The desserts were good as well!

Fantastic food! We had pizza and desserts - all absolutely amazing! Beautiful flavours - so if you love Italian food, you will love this place. The restaurant is very busy and can be loud so perhaps lacking in cosy and ambiante seating.

Best Italian restaurant in Cambridge

Unfortunately service was slow and they missed 2 people off the drinks order at the beginning, which took them almost 30 mins before they took that. The food was excellent.

First time trying here and really enjoyed it. Lovely atmosphere and very good service. Pizza tasted Lovely and fresh and the panettone bread and butter was excellent. One of the party also said the tiramisu was the best they've ever tasted! Already looking forward to coming back!

Having returned from Milan the day before, I’d been eating decent Italian food for a few days prior. Sadly the pizza was watery and oily. Not the best I’ve had. Base a little doughy in places
