La Pekora Nera in South Lakeland

Sadly, probably the worst Italian restaurant I have ever visited. I chose a simple salmon dish. The salmon was so over-cooked you had to seriously chew it to soften it up. This was accompanied by three small potatoes and a simple salad. Not more to say really. The staff were pleasant enough, but the food.....well I'll leave it there.

Lovely valentine meal here. Mussels for starters. I had carbonara bomb which was lovely. The staff and attention brilliant. Would def recommend

Waiter was excellent, very professional. Food was average. I had the mushroom pizza which it was average, not much cheese on it but base was good. My husband got the gnocchi which was nothing especial. Their central heating was broken and the restaurant was really cold and that was uncomfortable. Wasn't the cleanest place. Overall ok but wouldn't choose it again on my next visit to Kendal unless I am desperate for a pizza!

Visited this place and got to say can’t complain about a thing amazing starter Arancini and bruschetta and just the best pizza ever for our main - service was very good and I’ll definitely recommend this place 💯

We stumbled upon this beauty whilst staying at the Premier Inn and is literally a two min walk away! It was super busy on a Saturday night but the staff were so helpful and after some jiggling about thankfully fit us in and we are so pleased they did because the food was superb as was the atmosphere! My pasta was so flavoursome and my husband’s pizza was delicious too! The tiramisu was to die for! The staff were attentive and so welcoming nothing was too much trouble! We’ll definitely be back! Thank you so much! **PLEASE BRING A LITTLE CASH FOR TIPS AS THE MACHINE DOESN’T ALLOW TO ADD** and the staff are so deserving of one.

Lovely food- especially good gluten free pizza. Service was good and we were able to get a table even though we hadn’t booked. The only ever so slight thing I would say was a negative is that the cutlery wasn’t very nice- hard to explain but it was very flimsy and didn’t feel nice to the touch! Not a problem- just something that myself and my husband both noticed and were surprised by!

Firstly, it's moved from where it's showing. Went on a whim as we'd seen the menu earlier and we fancied a pizza. We all agreed it was a good choice, 3 pizza's and a garlic bread, all enjoyable. Bill was reasonable. Would recommend.

Our 2nd meal at this restaurant, decided to return as enjoyed the experience first time round. Nice variety of dishes on the menu. We all had something different and each of us enjoyed our choice. Service was good, staff were friendly and attentive. Would recommend

We were on a day trip to the Lake District and were looking for an Italian restaurant for tea. We were tired and weary from a great day out. We used Google to find them as we were visitors. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodated our needs. The food was excellent. It was so good, we even wondered if they would deliver to the North East (2 hours away) :-D A great find and would recommend them. Just be aware their toilets are upstairs.

Absolutely loving this place. Looks like a cafe more than restaurant gem the outside but the quality of the food & the service was definitely great restaurant standard. Staff were so friendly & lovely. Fantastic value & scrumptious food. Will 100% return.

Negatives: The decor is a little dated and the carpet on the stairs is shabby and really needs replacing. Positives: Really tasty food nice and hot. Reasonable prices. Great customer service. The staff were busy but on the ball!! Would definitely recommend.

We ate here as it was adjacent to where we were staying. We got really lucky! The service was warm and friendly and we were seated at a great table by the window. We tried the lasagne, pizza and the house special burger. All three were excellent, authentic and very tasty. We drank bottled peroni which was served cold and was well priced. There was a good atmosphere and we had a really enjoyable evening. Would definately go back again.

This was our second visit and it was almost as good as the first.I say almost because we were overcharged for wine but they fixed it right away. La Pekora Nera keeps it quite simple, but does it well. The menu is intelligently limited; plenty of choice and contrast, but focused. Service is friendly and local, and competent. The furnishings and decoration are basic, but comfortable and cosy on a wet autumn evening....
