La Margherita in Southampton

Había ido a la Margheritas muchas veces en el pasado y ha tenido algunas comidas fantásticas y disfrutamos boogieing en la pista de baile. Nos habían dicho que el restaurante era la misma y apenas cambió su nombre, pero esto no es cierto. Habíamos pedido la comida de un menú. Sin embargo, cuando nos sentamos, el camarero, decidí que tenía que ver que estábamos teniendo y era bastante desagradable. El servicio fue mediocre y sin embargo ponen el 10% de cargo por servicio en la cuenta. El camarero nunca regresar a la mesa para comprobar que todo estaba bien con la comida o para ver si necesitábamos cualquier tipo de bebidas. Pero el restaurante estaba tranquilo, con muy pocos comensales y ahora sé por qué. Incluso oímos el camarero fue grosero con otros comensales. Sin embargo, la comida era de buena calidad y bien presentada y el bar y pista de baile se volvió muy ocupado más tarde por la noche. El DJ tocaba música salsa toda la noche. La música era tan fuerte que no podía oír hablar cada otros El ambiente parecía más como un club de noche que un restaurante. No regresaré.

excelente comida, excelente ubicación con vistas al río; y un poco de baile de salsa tirado. Fui con un grupo de amigos en un jueves por la noche, no nos dimos cuenta que una clase de baile de salsa tenía lugar. Sin embargo, esto no supuso ningún problema para el restaurante, que nos acomodó en un sitio más tranquilo a la vuelta de la esquina y que hubieran tenido para nosotros a bailar después de la cena.

Today I was treated to a meal at Fantinis from daughters and husband, from start to finish the service we received was 100% not a bad word could be said, our waiter was friendly, made sure we had everything we wanted and needed, being Mother's Day all staff where running around like crazy to tend to everybody's needs. The food was amazing all our dishes -3 courses where fantastic. Pizza, Mixed fish grill, lasagne and rack of lamb, tiramisu, bread and butter pudding ice cream chocolate cake, plus starters, in my top 5 favourite restaurants, would recommend, and a bonus that I got my meal free as I am a mummy :)

It was quiet when we visited but we could imagine how lively it must be at times! We were well looked after by a very friendly waitress and we enjoyed a very good meal.NOW FANTINIS not La Margherita.

Primero visitamos La Margherita hace unos 40 años, y luego bastante regularmente durante los próximos 20 años antes de irnos. Última allí en 2003 para nuestra hija es 21. El constante recuerdo de este restaurante fue siempre un ambiente agradablemente 'ruidoso' que más vitalidad a la experiencia. En esta ocasión no. Un miércoles visita encontramos nosotros la mayoría de la noche la única tabla ocupado, como por ejemplo una pena. Sin embargo, nos pareció que el servicio es excelente, y no teníamos prisa. La comida estaba muy bien presentado y muy rico. El camarero reconoció que salimos para un evento social, y perfectamente acelerado la entrega de los campos.

Visitamos Fantinis para nuestra compañía comidas navideñas y quedamos muy decepcionados. Nos sentamos en un rincón oscuro lejos de todos los otros grupos grandes así que no había nada de ambiente. El servicio era muy lento y todo el personal parecía desinteresado. La comida sólo puede ser descrita como horrible. Nuestros entrantes sirvieron frío y muy mal presentado. El pavo plato principal era grave. Consistía en 1 rock muy seca dura un pedacito de Turquía envuelto alrededor de un sabor relleno y soso cruda envuelto en tocino. Las verduras era poco hecha. Por el precio que era inaceptable y que no volveremos

Estuve en el restaurante para una cena en una despedida de soltera. Habíamos pedido de un menú fijo, pero el primer curso se tardaba una hora en llegar. El bar estaba muy ocupado y que era casi imposible que te sirvan, para que puedan haber contribuido a la espera.

Fuimos el sábado 12 de diciembre para nuestro trabajo comida de Navidad.

Visitamos última noche para una fiesta de Navidad, la comida estaba reservado para 730 cuando nos sólo sirve los entrantes en 9 se puede decir que todo lo que quería hacer era ir a pedir más bebidas. La comida (cuando llegamos) estaba bien, pero la mala educación, lentitud, y sentimiento generalizado de sardinas encajonado en una terrible para no repetir experiencia. Quizás sería mejor lejos de Navidad, pero deberían pensar que cuando nos trate tan mal como lo hicieron.

Vine aquí para el cumpleaños de mi amigo justo en el medio de celebraciones las Navidades. Había habido una confusión con la reserva, pero nos trataron muy bien y nos dieron una preciosa mesa a pesar de estar completamente chocker. El servicio era increíblemente eficiente dado los números aquí, la comida estaba caliente, abundante y deliciosa. Música y bailamos en las horas tempranas. Una buena noche, no podemos esperar a volver.

my first visit since being Fantinis (formally la margheritas) food excellent very tasty, good sized portions. staff very attentive (but not in your face) and very friendly. very clean and I cannot wait til my next visit there xx

Second visit to this beautiful place. Once again beautiful food.. stunning views and outstanding service. Completely faultless. Cant wair for my next visit in December. Well done! !!!!!!

What was known as Le Margherita is now Fantinis and it is were I recently Held my Hen dinner party .It was a wonderful evening. The food was amazing and nice portions too. I must confess I didn't realise how big the starters were and I couldn't finish my mains as a result but I tried sooo hard as it was too good to leave. The staff were brilliant it was a busy night yet they some how managed to get around everyone with a smile, charm a laugh and politeness and patients. I was also impressed that they even made time to help my friend learn how to get the meat out of lobster as well. It was a lovely evening and all the staff should be very proud of themselves for providing such a wonderful restaurant. I would definitely recommend it and go back again.

Visited Fantinis (formerly La Margherita) on a couple of occasions the first of which we had a beautiful meal with a few drinks.On our most recent second occasion we just stayed for drinks. A decent cocktail selection for the ladies & a few draught & bottled beers for the lads!This place is, in my view, expensive but it is in a lovely location overlooking the harbour & has a really cosmopolitan feel to it.We will be back when visiting Southampton in the future.

We had great food served by first class friendly staff. Lovely tasty food, friendly and efficient staff, a real pleasure. Ok, name changed but still firat class staff, great manager and great food. Surprised restaurant was quiet as everything was perfect, foid, staff and very reasonable cost.

Called by for dinner and thought the location was brilliant.Seen and seated quickly, but that's where the haste dropped off, service was quite slow and I had to ask to order, and also to check where the drinks were. Didn't help that they didn't have half the drinks on the menu.The scallops for starter were great, I would highly recommend. At first they delivered the wrong main course, which I hadn't noticed until after I had put some of my potatoes and vegetables on the plate, when I drew it to the waiter's attention he admitted the mistake, he took it away and replaced it, but no offer to replace the side dishes. I felt for the other diner who had to wait a further 20 minutes for theirs, especially as their whole table had started eating.As I left a large party arrived, celebrating I believe, which were seated in the middle of the other diners, recipe for disaster! Food was good, service let it down!

We visited on 06/10/15 for our anniversary, we were one of the only people in the restaurant but that didn't take away anything from the experience. The setting is picturesque looking our onto the harbour and we had lovely cocktails before we sat down for the meal. The meal itself was incredible. We had the fish platter to start which was Devine followed by the ribs and lobster plate and the fish grill. (We love fish). The portions were generous and filling which was lovely!! We were both stuffed so no room for pudding but we didn't mind as the mains were so good!Over all an amazing meal.

It is not very often that I am forced to give a negative review, but honesty demands a frank warning that value for money is not to be found here. The are so many other choices for Italian food, but just as in Italy, there are good, average and places you are not going to return to. The bonhomie of welcome was fine, even warm, but the service was lethargic. The presentation and quality of food did not match up to the prices, especially when, within a one mile there are exceptional food and service alternatives to be found at similar prices. All in all, a disappointing first (and last) visit.

Went to this beautiful place on the 26/09. I Was really excited as already heard great things about this restaurant via friends so had high expectations before the visit. Arranged to meet a really close friend there. On arrival, we were greeted by a charming host, made us feel that we were valued. Shown to the bar for a few fabulous cocktails. All the bar staff were very smart and professional. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. We then were ready to be sitted. Our table position was truly beautiful. Calm candle lighting overlooking the marina. Simply stunning!!!The waiter then came to take our order. ANOTHER charming gentle that went out of his way to make this night spectacular. Again polite and very friendly. He cleary new how to excel on customer service... think his name was Gregor??? Anyway our food arrived... stunning! !!! Enjoy iy so much sent the following day thinking about it. The chef's clearly are skilled and they are a gteat asset to this company. Going to sum it up.... beautiful amazing perfect place to wine and dine. I will be back for sure. A BIG THANK YOU to you all for a magical evening.

Went to fantini's for the first time last night and I was very impressed. The service was excellent and staff couldn't of done more for you. I had scallops to start with which were the best scallops I have ever tasted and then had the steak for main course which again was faultless then to finish off I had their pannacotta which was lovely. I will definitely be returning very soon and would recommend it to anyone.

They are called Fantinis now. Very good food. They say they have one of the best burgers in the city. They do. Really tasty burgers. Really tasty steaks. Expensive, yes, sometimes a bit too much. But tasty as hell. Good Peroni beer, by the way. Highly recommend.

Visited Fantini's for the 1st time and the food was delicious. We arrived quite late and was greeted and led to our table just outside the main bar. I had scallops for starters and Lobster & Ribs, which were great. Everyone in our party said the food was great and they'd be coming back as the menu had plenty to offer. The music started a bit after we arrived so the girls got up for a boogie to dance off the extra calories. Overall a great night had by all. Thanks.

I adore the food here and go all the time. Best food ever I've been for my birthday with friends and meals with my boyfriend.and his family also been with my parents never fails to be amazing and the best nights and meals

This restaurant is now call Fantinis. My son had his wedding party in this restaurant. Wonderful setting snd views. The food was fantasic, salmon, pizza, antipasta, garlic bread etc. Wonderfully prepared and cooked. Staff very friendly, caring and service was perfect. Very efficient. What a marvellous choice.I visited this restaurant many years ago when it was La Margherita. It was good then; however excellent now. Even though the Boat Show was on, and lots of people were eating outside as the weather was warm, the staff still found time to cater for our every need. Well done. Thoroughly recommend this place

Now called Fantinis, 6 of us visited on a Tuesday evening, there were plenty of other people eating which is always a good sign. The menu was great, plenty to choose from. Food was lovely, staff were friendly. This has always been a great resturant but on hearing it had been taken over we did wonder if it would lose some of its appeal but it certainly hasn't, would still recommend for all occasions!

A group of five of us booked for a Friday Night. This restaurant is now called Fantinis.Car park is very small so did have to pay £4.20 to park in pay and display just around corner for four hours parking.Greeted at the door by friendly staff and taken straight to out seat. A lovely round table in the corner overlooking the water.It was quite busy and service was fairly slow, however staff very friendly and attentive and food was all lovely.Could do with a bit more seasoning perhaps?We ordered three starters to share between us, all very nice.Seafood pasta was nice - again could do with more seasoning.Burger on the specials menu was very large and tasty.Calzone pizza was good - again large and couldn't be finished.Carbonaras were tasty also.We all went for dessert - tiramisu was lovely as what the banoffee pies.In total, three starters, five mains, five desserts, a bottle or rose, a coke, a shandy, a lime and lemonade, two beers and a gin and tonic came to £165 with service charge included.Nice atmosphere, not too noisy - would go again.

Now called Fantini's this Southampton institution is still going strong. Very much a party atmosphere and caters for large groups. Unfortunately this meant that the noise level was very high so eventually we had to get the bill and leave as we couldn't hear each other. Food good although a little bland. My bruschetta had very little garlic or flavour. Service very attentive and friendly, appreciated the free round of drinks. May be back if I'm part of a large group but not for more intimate meals.

Service shockingly slow despite not being busy. Took 30 mins to make cocktails which arrive in tiny glasses with no decoration. Food bland. Think change of ownership this restaurant has gone down hill badly. Wouldn't reccomend

Having visited The waiter was ok. The food average. The wine expensive & mediocre.The place was empty. No atmosphere. Music was awful. Made a great show of asking for requests - none were played.Will not go again.

I went to Fantinis for a birthday party & I must say I was nicely surprise. The food was lovely. Very tasty, fresh and nicely spiced. I had a seafood pasta and wouldn't change my order. The restaurant is very busy so you need to be aware of a slight delay that can take place. Bar could have more variety of drinks but I guess that is not a issue. Atmosphere and location are great there too. So overall a nice place to visit but don't rush to your booked table as it will be ready on a dot. Thank you

Went to this lovely Italian restaurant tonight with the family and had a lovely meal. The restaurant is beautifully situated by the water with views over the quay. The staff were very friendly and helpful and full of fun. The food was very wellcooked and presented. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

This restaurant has been re named Fantini's in July but is in fact same as when it was La Margherita. In a great location but only average food and terrible coffee, but service ok. Some of the dishes come with strange accompliments which is a shame because with a little more thought about the menu and the wine list, would go some way to improving things.

We have just been for a very enjoyable meal at this restaurant. The service was friendly. The food was well cooked, and presented. The waiters friendly, polite and helpful.The restaurant overlooked the quay and the whole ambience was delightful. I would recommend a visit.

Saturday Aug 1st, 2015 Only ordered a main course and waited one and half hours for it to arrive.The sea bass dish was hot and good when served.This place has far too many table places to be able to service effectively.Fantini either has decide to serve up fast food to the numbers they can seat,or reduce tables by 50% and provide the service expected for the prices charged.Cheapest house wine £16.80 a bottle + 10% for plonk. Neighbouring table £24.50 for a bottle and also remarked " plonk"

The service is very good, the waiters have good knowledge of the food and help out with the menu. I loved the Spaghetti Fruti di Mare, very well cooked and the sauce was just right (not too spicy or too unseasoned). The restaurant has very good areas and it's great for group dinners as well.

We had a lovely family meal after our daughter's graduation at Fantinis (new name for the old La Margherita). We relaxed on a sunny afternoon beside full-length windows overlooking the marina whilst enjoying great food and service.

Beautiful restaurant which has apparently just been redone ... The staff were beyond attentive and cannot be faulted. The general manager was so friendly and generous . Even the owner could be clearly identified ... This is a place where they are looking to impress and they do so very well , the food is incredible ... that's the only word that can be used. I had scallops , veal and pannacotta , wine was lovely too. Will go back again and take the family !

Food is still good, but the music is not as entertaining ad it used to be. People are just struggling to have fun, standing there, trying to dance without being caught into the music. It appears to be a new "business decision". Sorry, will not come back.

Me and my friends came here for my birthday and I will not be coming back again. When I rang up to book a reservation they did not tell me that the name has changed, so I was 30 minutes late until I spoke to an outsider and asked them where it is. When we arrived it's as if they had forgot that we made a reservation and no menus or nothing were on the table ready. I overheard the manager speak to some of the staff awful and no respect what so ever which was terrible to see! they only looked new too. Staff were very unorganised and no communication was in place between them. We had 3 different waiters come up to us and asked if we had our drinks orders done. Food was average, no biggie. Could of done with abit more seasoning and herb. Definitely did not feel like a Italian restaurant which is a shame. The wait after we finished our food to when we finally got the bill was about 25 minutes. I wouldn't come here again, mainly because of one of the management and because how organised it all was. But thanks for the piece of birthday cake and good job to all the other staff, could see you guys worked very hard :)

Been to this place a couple of times great service and good food definitely worth a visit.There is also a good view of the harbour.

Great meal with my husband and son. We were staying overnight in Southampton to join a cruise and our son is a student there so we left it up to him to choose a restaurant. The welcome was warm and the staff were lovely, polite, knowledgeable and presentable. I had grilled cheese to start with which was to die for! Our mains were the Salmon, the veal masala and a pasta dish. All tasted wonderful and were well presented. We had a lovely evening and would return again. I had read some reviews before i went and yes - the menus are a bit tatty - the food is not!

I visited this restaurant with friends and found it easy to find. Despite being in a central location, parking is close by. There are great views of the waterways if you are seated by the window. The waiters are excellent and they aim to give you a very enjoyable evening. The food is very good. Definitely a restaurant that we will return to.

Table reserved in advance by our daughter. Worried at first about parking which is somewhat restricted in this quarter of the city. However the very helpful staff on the door pointed out an area that apparently is "set aside" for patrons of La Margherita.We had a table overlooking the waterfront which provided a good view of the river and the coming and goings of various vessels.The service was very good. Staff attentive...not overbearing. Had my favourite meal spaghetti carbonara. Wife had lasagne and daughter had mussels. All food arrived in good time and was excellent quality. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for a visit.

greeted with a very friendly manner and seated immediately . Food was light,tasty,brought to the table very quickly.. Only downside were gents toilets. My male guests said that there wasn't any soap nor any hand towels.

Lovely view over the water while eating. The decor could do with a bit of a spruce up in some areas but their food and staff were lovely. We particularly enjoyed the fillet steak and seafood pasta dishes.

Loved our dinner here last week. Excellent welcome. Staff very attentive and helpful. Sat outside and enjoyed last rays of sun. Food very good. Had pasta recommended by our cheerful waiter and Pinot Grigio rose wine. Good to park and enjoy sea views and town noises. Seemed quiet at around 8 when we left. Think the parking puts people off as I didn't realise can park right outside and in day sometimes the staff say you can park outside Casino as long as in their restaurant. Not sure if that is still ok.

Food was very overpriced. Was about the same quality you'd get from a pub lunch, for double the price. Staff were lovely and friendly though. Tables are quite close together and therefore constantly moving chairs to move around. Not sure if I would go again.

Found this restaurant on Tastecard and then on a "walls walk" spotted it and my wife decided we would go their for her birthday dinner. Beer good but red wine too cold, starter of bread and olives with fresh anchovies great! Main course of Boat Show and Spagetti and Meatballs was also very nice. Service was quick and attentive and waiters very pleasant. My wife was very satisfied with her birthday meal, so job done!

This restaurant has a great view from Town Quay and it was mainly because of this we visited. The service was friendly but slow and forgetful. The food was adequate but no better. However the big area for improvement is the general shabbiness. The menu's were obviously laminated a decade ago and peeling laminate and marks are the order of the day. The wine list is printed sheets in folders but again shabby presentation where the menus are smudged and look dirty. It's the same story with the black wood tables where the black has scraped and been bashed off. Whilst the food isn't great it is certainly better than the state of the menus and tables leads you to expect. The restaurant was clearly understaffed for a Saturday evening and we never did get the final round of drinks ordered (and reminded twice), and in fact it was actually quite difficult to order anything even if the waiters were friendly when they were able to get to us. Overall this restaurant gives the impression that if someone cared once, they have moved on and not look fresh at the place for a long time. It's a shame because the location and overall food quality (even if not brilliant) deserve better.

The food is of a consistently dissapointing standard despite their rather high prices. A once excellent restaurant is clearly allowing its reputation to descend rapidly through poor management. The customer service inside is often rather unfriendly. In the evenings their "security" generate an atmosphere of aggression and intimidation that is quite distasteful. My wife and I shall not be returning until things are seen to improve. Avoid this place at all costs.

Their customer service skills are terrible, they used to be a good restaurant and good to go for a dance in the evening. Their food quality has dropped. The last few times I have been there has always been a fight outside in the evening and beware the bouncers! Need to improve!

Attended as a small group of 5, a little get together to celebrate 2 birthdays. Good was great, service good and the manager was very nice. Highly recommended.

booked a meal for 7.45 pm ,place was quiet ,we had starters calamari which had plenty on the plate and italian bruscia and then filletto al gragia with la margheritia sauce and then pancotta and drinks and coffee.the food was a1 hot and tasted lovely would use again,

Where shall I start? I had been to this place years ago and a friend reminded me of it when I was looking for a venue to celebrate my 40th. I made a call and was offered to go and meet with one of the managers (Sam). The meeting was very short. I could clearly tell that they were not in a hurry to get my business. It would appear that they are busy no matter what so they are not worried if you don't book with them. Like many of you I thought well it must be great if it is always that busy! Luckily my birthday was late in the evening so I thought it would be good as the place definitely needs to be refreshed especially the entrance. There is an awful kind of disgusting carpet on the walls which seems to be hanging with some kind of staples when you come in. It is not screaming clean!!!! Anyway, I agreed to have my birthday there and paid for a deposit. I called the manager a few times to discuss a few details such as the wine etc... and every time they were SOOOOO rude to me! They are clearly not used to having organised guests with high standard so I started to seriously worry. A week before the actual event I went in with my husband this time. They were all over us, so friendly, promising us the moon and told us not to worry about anything. I was more relaxed and waited patiently until the actual night. I had been promised I would have the whole upstairs right next to the bar to myself and that the tables would be in a U shape. I was also promised the DJ would start the music at 9.00pm and that I could bring my own playlist! On the actual night the manager I had dealt with was on holiday and the other manager was absolutely useless. The DJ REFUSED to play any of the music I had asked for and basically told me he didn't give a damn about the fact it was my birthday. We spent £1500 and I have to say that I regret every penny! To make things worse I had a phone call at about 9.00pm the night before telling me they would have to add more tables in my space as they were going to be so busy. I didn't get the tables in a U shape as promised. The food was OK. The music was an absolute joke. I think the DJ made a point to put the worst music on purpose. Their sound system is pathetic! As for the kind of people who go there well you won't find much class!!! There are some seriously weird people. I was lied to from the beginning. Everything I was promised did not happen!!! Basically they should put on their flyers: "If you like it great! If you don't we really don't care!!!!!! Most of my guests were professionals, mainly teachers and firemen, house wives etc... They are all a lovely bunch and rated the night as a really good night to please me most likely. My point is: "Don't promise things you will not be able to deliver and don't change what we agreed at the last minute." I will not recommend this place to anyone!!!!!!!!!! Unless you shower twice a week, dress like a hobo and want to pretend you live the high life then yes, this is the place for you, otherwise, stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And one last thing! If you have more than 100 people who booked for the night then make sure you have enough staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The owner cares far too much about his profit and seems to have lost all common sense!!! Not what it used to be, has become seedy, cheap and quite frankly down the pan!!!!!!!!!! I will never forgive that DJ!!!!

O restaurante é muito bom e fica perto do cais. Além de diversas massas, há também carnes. Entretanto, o melhor prato é o boat show, que é uma massa com diversos frutos do mar. O tagliatelle com salmão também é muito bom.

my boyfriend and i were looking for somewhere to have dinner and ran into this place.Absolutely lovely. We came relativly early, around 7 on a sunday and the place was packed which is always a good sign. We were not dissapointed either. We both had three courses, all absolitely perfect and exeptionally delicious.Ignore the reviews down below, the food is divine.The only downside was we waited about 5/10 minutes for the dessert mwnu but it was busy and we were quite full so thats not too bad!

We went here at the weekend for a friends birthday, it was a busy Saturday night and the restaurant was packed with lots of large groups, service was fab, the food was incredible, all 20 members of our group commented on how great the food was, cooked perfectly. Wen eat out fairly regularly and this was simply the best food we have had in a very long time.

Dato il nome del ristorante ci aspettavamo almeno la pizza non surgelata. Non malaccio, ma comunque surgelata. Primi abbondanti e guatosi. Troppa cipolla. Personale accogliente. Ambiente spazioso.

On went to this restaurant with my husband and child, the staff were friendly and showed us to a table straight away. It took a while to get a highchair for my child, but they did let us overlook the boats which made her day.There was no drinks menu so ordering drinks was like a minefield as we had no clue what was available.The food was shocking, I had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was foul, the sauce had no taste at all and the meatballs were so bland it was appalling. The sauce tasted like it was a cheap tomato puree with a few herbs thrown in and the meatballs tasted like they were frozen and reheated as they were so chewy.They did offer to keep the pasta but change the sauce. This was done, however I could taste the fish in the sauce and the meatballs were still shocking. No offer was made to replace with another dish or have my drink taken off the bill... Shocking service with this respect as I also asked them to take the second dish back.My husband had the seafood pizza, this was nice nothing special however it didn't taste bland at all and did have a good sauce.Overall staff were pleasant but I would never go back.

This venue is great for older people, but if you are single, in a relationship, married with a group of friends or with family, you will be shadowed by Muslim males who will not take no for an answer. The staff seem to be aware of this but no action take

Had to go to Southampton to drop the Mother in Law off for her cruise. La Margherita is right by the cruise terminal, and we had eaten there before so we popped in for lunch. Staff were great, really helpful and polite. They found us a table right by the window with a view of the yachts and the ship she was going on. Ordered drinks and food, all served quickly and with humour.La Margherita turns into a night club we think and as a result it looks a little bare during the day. When full of people and with different lighting we are sure it has a different atmosphere. We absolutely cannot fault the food though, it was very good and we all enjoyed our lunch. Drinks were fine and the staff were great.Would be happy to go again

Nice food great time Untill they turn it into the disco bar the bouncers were a bit full on when we went for a cigarette then tried to get back in, you have trainers on yeah we been in for 3 hours then asked my friends son for id just because he couldn't ask him to leave before he was over the minimum age so get it round you won't be back any time soon over priced beer nearly £5 a pint big windows that's all I'm saying

Very cheep nasty wine yuck!!!!!!I had zuppa Sicilian it was tasteless, the seafood was not fresh and then I found a long hair in it. Worst meal out I have ever had.YUCK! Very poor!

La Margherita was the venue for my clubs Christmas Meal which I organised. We were a group of 40 who had pre ordered of the set menu, so easy to cater for. The staff however did a great job of making our evening enjoyable. The table was presented very well and plenty of attention was paid to us.For such a large group the food came out together and tasted great which is a nice bonus.Was great for a large group and Im sure is as good for smaller tables.

Staff was slow, even though there weren't many customers.No drinks menu was presnted, it was more like you asking the waiter for drinks & he would tell you whether they had it or not.Price for Calamari was a bit too expensive, especially for the quantity given.Main was slighlty acceptable, was expecting a bit more for the price given & dessert menu was quite poor.

Came here for a work staff party recently, the food buffet was very nice and the staff were very professional and polite, especially the waiters, big thanks to them. However it did take quite a while to be served at the bar and I could see that the bar seemed to be understaffed at one point and the deserts were not too great, maybe have several members of staff serving at the bar in the future? Other than this I do respect the efforts of all the staff despite the pressure they were under to provide service to over 100 people. Despite those two minors negative points it was a very enjoyable night at a very nice restaurant run by very hard working people. Overall I would to thank every member of staff on duty for their efforts and extreme dedication to ensure we all had a good evening. I would definitely visit again in the future and would recommend this place to friends and family.

Came here for my sisters graduation meal and it was lovely... Great service... Table was all ready for all 12 of us... Inclu my baby son which was running around ad staff wer great looking out for him ad keeping him entertained ... Will defo come here again Bar staff ad restaurant staff wer amazing ad very friendly!!!!

I went here for a Christmas meal not so long ago. The company was great but was consistently let down by the service of the staff at this place. A large amount of our party had ordered steak through their Christmas menu but on the night, the manager refused to let us choose how we wanted our steak cooked. He was extremely rude and basically told us we all had to have them done medium regardless of how we wanted it cooked; and there was no negotiation on this. Then having asked for my steak with no sauce they proceeded to bring out my steak covered in sauce. Then onto pudding where I was reliably told that it would consist of red berries and vanilla ice cream... It turned out to be mango sorbet. It was a shame that having such a good night with work colleagues had to be let down by rude staff and consistently wrong orders and paying for food which you didn't ask for. Poor show la margherita, sort it out.

I've been here a few times with work, including our Christmas Meal a couple years ago. To be honest, I've never seen the attraction of this restaurant, the food is very average and the service slow. The worst occasion was when a colleague took myself and some clients. 40 mins after ordering pizza/lasagne the food had not turned up, upon asking the waiter, we were informed the oven was broken and they were waiting for it to be fixed. I could not believe we weren't informed sooner so we could make alternative arrangements! On my eating experience at this restaurant they would deserve 1 star, but a relatively nice atmosphere for drinks drags my review up to 2 stars.

We chose La Margherita as the venue for our University society end of year dinner, which we had 120 guests for. There is no shortage of suitable places for this type of event in Southampton - what stood out to us and made us chose La Margherita was:- the personal service in arranging the dinner- the flexibility, and how accommodating they were to our needs; we were told we can: "do anything, just don't break the walls" (!)- Beautifully situated on the marina-side- Affordable per head price, including group discounts - Varied set menuOn the night, we were greeted with such enthusiasm. As organisers, we turned up like a tornado of stress, but were quickly reassured by the manager as he handed us a complimentary glass of wine! Matching wine to the seating plan was stressful, but the whole team were on hand to assist me in this logistical nightmare! We even had last minute food choice changes that were dealt with aptly. The atmosphere was perfect - sophisticated, but lively! With its marina-side location, we were able to have lovely photos taken. The food was faultless. I have to also commend the seamless dinner to dance transformation; the DJ booth is situated above the dance floor, which makes the whole thing more glamorous! We worried about the DJ that was provided by the venue, but when he showed up, we were delighted that it was one of the student population's best loved DJs (DJs at Orange Rooms usually) - he is fantastic! There are useful facilities here to make use of, including a front bar area (where we set up a photo booth), TV screens and microphones. The whole night ran smoothly, and the feedback we got from the guests was overwhelmingly positive. Having now handed over my position on the committee, I can only hope that La Margherita will be used for many more of our annual dinners. With thanks from the Southampton Vixens Cheerleading Squad!

Went to La Margherita last night to celibrate a birthday. Our table was booked for 8, our party was 12. The place was very quiet, with what appeared like more staff than customers at times. After being given the menu we were asked for our drinks order which took far too long to come and then were ignored for at least 45mins. We had to ask for service to make any orders during the whole night and no one came to find out if our meal's were satisfactory at any point during our time there. The staff were more concerned that we choose music for the DJ to play. After we finally got desert the staff came to sing happy birthday and gave our party member another desert which was ridiculous as she had already had one desert .When the bill arrived and we saw the cost of service added we complained that there had been no service and we were not willing to pay for something that did not exist at this resaurant. One of our party talked to the Manager who accepted, but was obviously not happy about our decision. He was also not willing to come over and talk to the rest of us.They did offer us 2 free bottles of wine, expecting us to drink it there and then but this was at 11:45 when we were finally finished and ready to go. I would not recommend this restuarant to anyone. The only saving grace there is that the food is OK.

Went here for a meal with a few friends. The waiters/waitresses were very friendly and conversational. Nothing was too much for them. Had drinks, starters and a main for £15 which is a good deal. Got a 25% off voucher from vouchercloud which came in handy. The garlic bread didn't have enough garlic on it for my liking but it was still pleasant. All in all a good evening. Would come back again for another meal.

This is a great Pizzeria freshly cooked great location and atmosphere. Friendly staff but can often be taken uip with private functions. on site parking a bonus if not to busy.

We stumbled across this restaurant after parking close by on the quay. The place wasn't very busy which isn't always a good sign. We were welcomed by a member of staff and shown to a table overlooking the harbour. I had the pollo fiorentina which was very tasty char-grilled chicken with tomatoes, olives and zucchini. My wife had pollo milanese which was also very good. The breadcrumbs did not detach themselves from the escalope which is sometimes the case. The Estonian waiter was very chatty and polite. We would certainly eat there again.

I went with my husband and we were ignored by the 4 waiters at the entrance and when finally one of the waiter could be bothered to speak to us, I asked him why we were ignored for 15 mins putting in mind we had booked the table. The waiter informed us point blank that their boss had a private party in the restaurant and they were all busy.. My question is, why take more bookings and you can't be asked to offer a good service to the paying customers. It was a lesson well learnt.

We stopped by here to eat on a walk to see the port. The service was fab. All the food was cooked to order and tasted great. Good value for money and would definately recommend to a friend!

Poor service, poor food, very cramped, and waiter told us there was no wine menu, when later in the evening we saw another table receive one

Thank you to everyone at La Margherita for making Godfrey's birthday so very special. We were so well looked after. The food was excellent, service good, though a little slow with the wine! They catered for our every need. Put up with rather a noisy party "all 22 of us" including our three grandson's of 14yrs 3yrs and 1yr. Thank you ALL once again.

We booked a table only two hours before visiting and had no problems. We were given a lovely table by the windodw. The service was excellent - professional yet still friendly and welcoming. We went the whole nine yards and had wine, starters,mains, dessert, coffee, and we enjoyed every single thing. The location is also beatiful as it overlooks the marina. We would visit again if in the area, and would recommend to friends too. We had a lovely tme and a fantastic meal.

Pizza is a disgrace! Quality of the ingrediends: apalling! Hire some Italian cook dudes! No Italian people in the kitchen... I can tell!!! It looked italian, flags, pictures and stuff...but it isn't. only who has never eaten Italian would belive that rubbish food to be italian...

Some mixed reviews on here but I went with my husband and two young children and we had the most delicious authentic Italian meal I've had outside Italy. All 4 of us cleared our plates which is unheard of! There were a few big parties and it was pretty loud but not a problem

Comfortable place to have a meal. I visit this place just passing by the street and I decide to enter with my husband for lunch. We ate pizza and have some drinks. Was not the best pizza, or the best Italian food but was ok. Quite place and a nice meal. Food ok but a little bit pricey.

Went here with a large group and quite a few were disappointed especially with the pizza's which were apparently very bland. The pasta with scallops was left more or less untouched. Had a few meals here during a break in southampton. The location of the restaurant is attractive overlooking the harbour. The service and the food were excellent.

Went here for a celebratory meal after my daughters graduation on 16th July 2014, what a let down. Had booked well in advance but were not greeted properly as it was assumed that we were with the lady that walked in before us. We were seated and given menus, we then waited.....and waited...and eventually a waiter came and took our food order, then......we waited some more. No one came and took our drinks order so, eventually, I flagged down a waitress who gave us a drinks menu and, again eventually, took our drinks order.Our starters arrived after a very, very long wait. We ate our starters and only then did our drinks order arrive,You do not pay for the food here but the location. One member of our party had the Carbonara which was a big claggy mound of pasta which was far to rich and he was unable to eat even half. Two of us had chicken which was overcooked and hard. This was midweek when there were very, very few customers in the restaurant.In total two courses with waiting time took two and a half hours.In short bad service, bad food and overpriced, extremely disappointed. I would have liked to post this review directly to the restaurant website but that facility is not available, they only show the reviews they choose. Do not think this review will feature!! Aviod this venue.

We had our daughter and son in law from Canada and wanted to give them a good sunday meal so we went to our favourite restaurant in town with the rest of the family at the La Margherita on Town Quay . We were not let down . The service was excellent , the food as usual was top class and the venue is ideal being near the waterfront .

What an experience..... I dont tend to leave feedback but this restaurant frustrated me enough to re-sign up to tripadvisor. Having lived in Southampton for 4 years (10 years ago) La Margherita was always considered a nice place to eat. 10 years later.... it is not.Food was barely warm... garlic bread with cheese was worse than a 99p frozen option. Drinks took forever to turn up and getting a second one was impossible - I eventually had to go to the front of the restaurant to find a barman. A couple next to us decided to leave before ordering (good choice) because of the slow service by the waiter.The main courses were ok, definitely not as good as the main Italian chain-restaurants.... I would pick Zizzi's ahead of La Margherita everytime!The main complaint was at the end of the meal. I used a 25% off voucher from vouchercloud. The waiter looked disgusted and said I couldn't use it and then brought me a bill with the full price. After 10 minutes of waiting for the waiter to return I decided to speak to the barman, he advised that the voucher was fine and readjusted the bill. The original waiter was then located and took over the transaction.The barman had obviously changed something that the waiter was not happy with, so he decided it would be appropriate to swear quite aggressively (f-ing pr**k and used the c word). He looked at us to imply that he was being funny.... however, it just showed how unprofessional the restaurant really is. My girlfriend insisted that we speak to the manager, after waiting a further 5 minutes noone could be found.Overall, I spent £32 for one frozen piece of garlic bread, some frozen deep fried calamari, two bowls of luke warm pasta and three drinks. Go to Zizzi's of Bella Italia.... at least their staff have some training.

My wife and I stopped for lunch on a sunny Wednesday.We sat outside overlooking the Marina.The service was good and the food was too.A pleasant interlude.

There was a large group of us that recently visited the restaurant, We pre ordered. The food was lovely but the service was poor. They messed up our orders which meant one member of the group had to wait for her main course while the rest of us were eating even though it was ordered weeks in advance. They were also informed in advance that one member of the group is gluten free, they said they would accomodate but when it came to the night there were some issues with the gluten free request. They then also overcharged us by around £20, which took another 20 minutes to sort out. The restaurant was ridiculously hot to the point it was uncomfortable. We arrived at 8pm and they decided to put the air con on for 30 minutes at 10.30pm. Over all it was not a enjoyable experience.

Sat here waiting for them to ask if we want another drink. Had to seek them out for a refresh the first time! More interested in getting the next punters in than serving the ones they have. Food ok but pricey. Rely on hen nights etc. wondered why I've not been here for a while and now I remember why.

I dined here with group of 11 friends. I phoned ahead to check that I could use my Tastecard with the group and the Manager confirmed that I could use it for their 2for1 deal. We arrived at the booked time of 9pm and there were very few others dining there. Despite this, we waited over half an hour for our order to be taken, eventually having to get up and go to find a waiter to take it. We were all very hungry and as it was mid-week we didn't want to be late. As a result, most of us only ordered main courses (their loss). I ordered a Sophia Loren Pizza which had tomato, mozzarella, asparagus, spinach, garlic and 2 eggs. I was very disappointed that the asparagus was cut stalks only - where did all the spears go?! When we came to pay, we were told we could only use one discount card for the table, so they wouldn't honour my Tastecard, as they had promised. Had we sat at three different tables, which would have been more work for the staff, we could have used 3 discount cards. Our previous visit was also ruined by the time taken to order and serve their food. When it finally arrives, the food isn't special. I won't go again.
