Stumbled over this little gem while looking for food after staying in Birmingham for football even though the restaurant was very busy the amazing staff found us a lovely table and we had a amazing meal my lobster ravioli melted in my mouth and my husbands steak was amazing brilliant pudding to follow amazing service with very happy waiting staff definitely will return don’t let the entrance put you off if you walk in off the street it’s a hidden marvel

Appalling, rude service, no atmosphere and acceptable food. but nothing special. The waiter brought an item to the table that we hadn't ordered and I overheard him saying to another staff member that 'they can pay for it anyway' and sure enough it was added to the bill. If you like dining in a brightly lit, tired restaurant, extremely rude and unfriendly service, and ok food, then you'll enjoy this place. Otherwise, go elsewhere as there are far better restaurants, better food and far superior service and value for money elsewhere.

I had a terrible experience here due to an older white waiter who was rude and intimidating because we brought a half bottle of juice, although we ordered a bottle of still water in the restaurant. He treated other customers much more positively, which felt discriminatory and unwelcoming. Very disappointing service. Deeply adopted this waiter is racist.

Visited here on a wet Saturday evening in September and was very impressed. We had a table by the window in a sort of mezzanine area. All the staff from arrival to leaving were pleasant and efficient, and all staff we passed said goodbye on the way out. We had the Italian sausage and goats cheese wrapped in filo pastry as starters – both were very enjoyable. For mains we had the pan-fried monkfish tail and the fillet steak in peppercorn sauce, which were lovely. Our only criticism, and it’s a very minor one, is that we added a side order of saute potatoes not realising that there were saute potatoes in the mixed vegetables that came with the mains. Excellent choice of wines as well. We will definitely visit here again.

We had a great time in here. Manager squeezed us in as we hadn't booked which was lucky. Food was lovely and wine was a great suggestion.

We booked for a birthday celebration for 3.30 and arrived and sat down and ordered drinks from the waiter. Some more people from our party arrived pretty quickly after us but at 3.42 when not everyone had arrived a male waiter approached the table and asked how long the rest of the party would be as they needed the table back. I found this to not be a particularly good start and at this point we had only just ordered drinks. He seemed to be pushing for us to have wine and was a bit off with us when he took the wine glasses away as our party was either having cocktails or soft drinks. The rest of our party arrived a few minutes later. I visited the toilets and on my way through thought that the decor around the restaurant looked very tired and outdated. The toilets were not very clean and two of the cubicles had no toilet paper. There was a thick layer of dust on the frame of the mirror and if i am honest it felt a like a toilet at a train station. I returned to the table and we were helped by a female waitress who was much more welcoming and pleasant and also was accommodating of food intolerances. The food arrived in good time and was okay. The vegetables were rather underdone on some of the meals, but nothing bad enough to complain about. We had brought a birthday cake but were told that we could bring it out to sing happy birthday but that we could not cut the cake or eat it and it had to go straight back into its box which I found extremely odd and rather un accomadating. There wasn't long between courses immediately after the bill was paid we were told again that the table was needed and so we were rushed out. One of our party members was still finishing a glass of wine. We basically had to wait in a corridor while she finished her drink. The male waiter was not very welcoming and it felt like although we had spent almost £300 including a £30 service charge, that we were inconveniencing them by being there. I don't think I would return here and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone

This was, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food was disgusting—completely tasteless and poorly prepared. It felt like no care was put into the dishes at all. On top of that, the staff was shockingly rude and didn’t seem to care about the customers. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere else.

The decor is tired. You arrive at the entrance and could be anywhere but welcoming it is not. We were not greeted on entering the restaurant. Before we arrived my daughter was asked how long we'd be, we were 10 minutes late for our booking, and she was told they needed the table! This was for my 60th birthday!!! The lead waiter serving us was rude, he was unpleasant and he was impatient. He made no small talk or effort to engage. The food was mediocre, warm not hot, with the vegetables no more than blanched and inedible. The sauce for my steak was bland and probably a base sauce made in advance or bought in then changed to different sauces afterwards. The desert just lacked flavour. My daughter brought a birthday cake in and was instructed we could sing happy birthday but could not cut or eat it on the premises. The toilets were unpleasant, smelt, and hadn't seen a good clean in a while. The waiter tried to hurry us out several times, in the end, we were asked to leave the table and sit outside. My friend still hasn't finished her wine! Don't bother going, save your money. Unpleasant, rude waiter and food you'd do well to miss!

Just had a DELICIOUS meal Sword fish and my husband had Sea Bass, staff was very pleasant, afficiant and obliging 🙌will definitely come when visiting Birmingham again

We visited as a group of 9 adults and 1 child. It was our son’s first birthday. We had an amazing meal. Food was fabulous, wine was excellent and the service was outstanding. All of the staff went to extra effort with us, they went above & beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Thank you

Attended here for my daughter’s birthday meal. On the whole the food was lovely, however my nephew who is Muslim watched the chef use the same pizza cutter they used on a pepperoni pizza then used the same cutter on his non meat pizza. On the whole staff were nice but our waiter a mature male was very rude! Huffing and puffing, not listening and rushing to the point 3 people had not been asked their drinks menu. On the whole I would love to come again, but I wouldn’t want that waiter again as really spoiled the atmosphere.

The waiters should be more careful and sensitive when interacting with individuals of different cultures and ethnicities when you're operating a restaurant in a multicultural country, unless you only accept certain dominant groups as your customers.

We received unkind service from an arrogant waiter, who pretended cannot hear us when we ordered but obviously we were pointing at the menu and ordering!

Honestly the food is not bad, the pastas and the risottos are okay but not worth it considering it will be spoiled by the service. And beware they charge you 10% for it where the food prices are way above average. When we asked to take it off as it was written as optional on the menu is when our experience was really ruined. They started asking what was wrong with the service and how they need that money or something. We were really confused as he came off quite rude acting like its required. If you really want the service charge just add it to the menu prices don’t expect me to pay for it when it’s optional. I actually was quite shocked by the audacity. Not coming here again.

A nice city based authentic Italian restaurant. The staff were helpful, happy to make changes to the menu items to our liking and the prices were reasonable. Will definitely come again!

Self certified foodie here and this was SUCH an amazing meal. It was so authentic and every dish was perfectly balanced. Stumbled across this place by accident and it was the best surprise ever. Thanks for being so friendly and accommodating!

Visited for my partners birthday visited beforehand to leave a cake which when it was brought out the whole restaurant seemed to sing the food was exceptional as was the service the staff were attentive patient and knowledgeable when questioned. Would highly recommend and visit again only gripe is the stairs at the entrance are a tad on the epic side thank you for a wonderfuly epic evening .

Probably the best meal I have ever had. This was better than any food I have eaten In Italy. I had scallops from heaven as a starter followed by an absolutely PERFECT steak and chips, Italian style. By the end of these two courses I was full. Erika took excellent care of us and served a few beautiful digestives after the meal. I will visit Birmingham just to take my family here. A massive thank you to all the staff. Italian wine, particularly the Chardonnay is the best in the world.

We visited this italain restaurant for the first time today .We had a trip to Birmingham from Nottingham and all we can say is that the food was lovely.Great wine,our mains dishes were linguine alla marinara,pizza for the kids really tasty and amazing flavour.The restaurant was nice and clean,open plan kitchen and the service was great very friendly.Highly recommend,we going to be back for sure !

The perfect food and the ideal location, the worst of all the service was served by a man who called himself the manager who treated us terribly and made comments about us at another table because it is one thing to not know how to express yourself correctly in English and another. It's not understanding what he says and if that man says he is so professional, you can't disrespect other diners for no reason, that's why I don't recommend this restaurant, yes for the food but not for the treatment of that man, says the manager, but it's a totally uneducated person

We were waiting to see Cris Isaak in the Symphony Hall and decided to have an Italian meal beforehand. It was a great meal, wine and the service was excellent. Fully recommended restaurant.

Met my sister in Birmingham, a halfway point for us. We went to La Galleria last time we met and found it superb. This time the service was much poorer. Food excellent, shame not served at the same excellent level. Service charge is included in the bill so needs to meet those expectations

We decided to eat in this restaurant prior to attending the Chris Isaak performance in the Symphony Hall. We had a delicious meal and received great service throughout. We would fully recommend this Italian food restaurant..🤙

We arrived in Birmingham yesterday and were craving pasta. We decided to come here to eat. Riccardo was our waiter and he made the experience even better. His kindness and charisma give the place an additional point. We ate orichiete, lasagna and penne bolognese, spectacular. Just what we were looking for.

This is my favourite Italian in Birmingham. Family run and owned . My daughter doesn't like chilli, so they cooked her dish without it as everything is cooked fresh. Nothing is too much trouble.

A friend and I had been to the immersive Van Gogh and went to La Galleria for a late lunch. What a delight. We shared a Calamari starter - beautiful and more than enough for us to share. We both had swordfish as our main course - it was a large piece and the vegetables were served Al dente as I like them. We shared a cheese plate - which was very generous and more than ample. We had followed the advice of our waiter and the Sicilian white was amazing and my espresso was the best I have drunk out of Italy. We will return.

In the city for 1 night for work, walked into thisblittle Italian gem. Italian music, staff, wine and genuine food that takes one back to an Italian holiday. Very reasonably priced, service in Italian slownpace manner which allows one to relax and enjoy the experience. Will definitely dine again when in the city.

After having spent many birthdays here (my sister tomorrow, myself Wednesday,) we chose La Galleria again with friends. The food, as always, was delicious. However, on this occasion we felt pushed to order more wine (rather than leaving us to go at our own pace,) and forgive me, but I’m sure in the past we have been afforded some recognition for choosing to spend our birthday celebration here - a shared cake, or aperitif - but nothing. We then paid £10 tip each without a thank you. I’m not sure we will be returning next year or before.

The spaghetti aglio was absolutely delicious! All members of the family enjoyed their meals. The staff were friendly and helpful. Not too pricey. Food well worth it. Great atmosphere.

An excellent restaurant tucked away behind New Street Station and the main shopping area. An authentic Italian restaurant, both with the food and ambiance. We ordered a variety of dishes, both as appetizers and main courses: all excellent. The saltimbocca stood out in particular. A wonderful wine list, both by the glass and in bottles and reasonably priced. Very helpful and friendly service. Complimenti!

The taste and presentation of La Galleria’s pasta dishes is among the best I’ve ever tried. Compared to other restaurants they provide good value, balancing delicious food and generous portions with reasonable prices. The service was generally attentive and friendly.

Stayed in Birmingham for the weekend with family and this place was a standout, it felt like we could have been in Italy! The ambience and quality of the food were a delight and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, very glad we landed on this gem.

We were in Birmingham for a show so booked a table in La Galleria. First impressions when we walked in the door were not favourable. After going up the stairs we could see it was a very neat,tidy and clean restaurant. Food was excellent and good value although the desserts were overpriced. Service was good and water was provided upon asking. Male toilets could do with a revamp. Was asked when paying bill if I wanted to add anything on, I declined as there was already a 10% service charge added.

What a restaurant… it never fails to deliver the highest quality food … tonight was no exception.., in fact best yet. We have been with our family before but today we popped in for a quick pre theatre meal and told staff. They produced drinks and food within minutes of ordering. King prawn and calamari starter beautiful flavours, lovely light batter. Steak Diane and fillet steak alla Galleria cooked to perfection and delicious sauce. In and out in our required timings but not rushed by the team of brilliant staff. Too tasty to photograph… thought our empty plates were an incentive to go and try yourself! Sorry! Thank you La Galleria- we will be back!

We visited this restaurant for the first time, invited by a friend. The food was good, but we experienced rude service from one of the waiter. A middle-aged man came to take our drink orders, but when I asked for a moment, he repeated sarcastically, "You will let me know?" . We avoided this scene. Later, when we were ready to order, my friend asked him for best pasta recommendations. He rudely replied, "I don't know which pasta is good! My taste buds won't match yours." He refused to help with the menu and was generally unhelpful. Then he started serving us and at one point, he told me to remove my phone from the table, saying, "Phones should be in a bag, not on the table; this is basic manners." Immidiately we spoke to the owner about the waiter's behavior. The owner claimed it might be Italian humor, but we disagreed. Thankfully, the owner took over and served us personally, which we appreciated. However, we noticed the waiter was polite to other (white) customers, making us feel his behavior might be racially motivated. Despite the owner's excellent service, the waiter's rudeness ruined our mood. Staff like him need proper training, as even a good overall experience can be tainted by one bad interaction.

An Italian restaurant, their food is nothing short of delicious! We ordered lasagna, margherita pizza, and alfredo pasta Of course, the lasagna exceeded the rating as it was very delicious and we all liked it. The pizza was sweet, but the Alfredo was ordinary and had no distinctive taste. Their service was exceptional and their treatment was nothing short of wonderful. I have two children and they took extra care of us and alerted us to come out before nine for them. I think it is one of the best restaurants in Birmingham and it deserves it 💯

Best italian food I had after moving to UK...

The restaurant is a 'hidden gem.' Beautiful and spacious inside and the waiter was very friendly and helpful. The portions were big and the food was extremely tasty. I can recommend the Tagliatelle with white wine and mushroom sauce. The mixed salad was a great accompaniment. Although we didn't have any wine they do have an extensive wine list. We all agreed that we would definitely be back.

Another superb meal. Fresh hand picked crabmeat followed by red mullet. And of course the best fillet steak. Never fails.

Rude waiter, basically said that this restaurant is not for us. Misunderstood the order and the meal was missing ingredients. Slow service and the chefs can be seen working unhygienically and wearing no caps. Avoid going here at all costs. Not worth it!

4.5 ⭐️ Ideally located in the city centre. The service was great with staff being friendly and efficient. The food we had, a pasta dish and the lasagne, were really tasty and authentic italian. I would recommend this place for a romantic date or relaxed catch up with friends around good food.

If I could give this Restaurant 6 stars it would not be enough. The whole ambience of the place was modern classic Italian. Ricardo was such a professional waiter. The Manager/Owner Ermir was such a welcoming host and the waiting etiquette of both himself and Ricardo was of a supreme caliber. Next business trip to Birmingham I am back for more. Overall impression: Whow!!!! Amazing Risotto, Service impeccable, I highly recommend, Finally, Value for money was excellent. MAGNIFICO!!!!!

Good service - uninspiring dishes.

As this is going to be an unfavourable review, let me start of by saying that La Galleria is obviously popular and was very busy when we arrived at 7.30pm on a Thursday. You enter through a very un-prepossessing doorway then go upstairs to a large buzzy dining room. If you like pizza and pasta then you are likely to be happy, though the pasta we saw coming out was definitely old school and not the modern approach that you might find at Cafe Murano or Bancone. This certainly isn't 'modern Italian cuisine' - it's old school trattoria. But if you look for something more interesting on the menu, you may be in for a big disappointment - as we were. The Lady Orthopod and I dined with a friend up from London - we had met to go to the Victorian Radicals exhibition at the City Museum and Gallery. For starters TLO and friend from London went for the burrata. This came plonked on a plate of under-dressed rocket and under-ripe cherry tomatoes. Not a good start. And neither was my frittura mista: was this the delicately floured and fried selection of lovely fresh seafood the name conjures up? No it wasn't - it appeared to have been deep fried from frozen and coated in a really gritty fine crumb dressing. Not at all pleasant. For mains, TLO opted for sea bass fillets which she thought were frozen and not fresh. Whatever, they were dry and over-cooked. Our friend and I opted for the Vitello Milanese. The escalopes were super-thin and coated in the same gritty crumb coating. They felt like they had been fried from frozen; edible, but not at all pleasant to eat. By contrast, the spinach we ordered to accompany was the star of the show - a good portion, well cooked and served with an oil and lemon dressing. After this very unsatisfactory meal we didn't fancy puds, so when the dessert menu came we made our excuses and left, as they used to say in the News of the World. We won't be returning.

Genuine Italian scran cooked and served by friendly Italian people in a family friendly restaurant. Efficient service and not part of a bland national chain which is always a positive. The fillet steak rossini was banging! Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.

We were in Birmingham to see a talk at the Town Hall, and I was looking for a restaurant near to it for a meal before the show. I saw this place, and decided to book. What a good job I did! The welcome when we arrived was lovely, the staff were very attentive and friendly, and the food was fantastic! We shared a seafood starter which was great. I had a seafood linguine and my partner had steak. It was absolutely amazing food, we both really enjoyed it! I would even go as far as to say that it was the best seafood pasta I have ever had! The waiters were great, suggesting wine, and were very friendly. We did notice on the menu at the start that it said there is a service charge of 10% added to the final bill, so we did keep that in mind throughout our experience. As it was, at the end of the meal, I did not object to the charge at all, as I felt our experience here more than justified it. If we were in Birmingham again, I would book a meal here again immediately. Thanks so much!

Impromptu lunch, short visit, lovely food, made to feel very welcome, service with a smile. Live locally and didn't know this hidden away restaurant existed, will be returning in the near future.

The experience here was disappointing, to say the least. I was denied any service, just because the person I came here with didn’t want to order from the main course, WHILE I DID. So if you want to dine here, you have to know it’s obligatory that you and anybody you come here with must order something from the main, otherwise, you'll be denied any service as well.

Don’t go if you want a nice dining experience. We went for a 5pm sitting. The guy at the entrance gave us a warm welcome as did the lovely waitresses but the front of house man was unbelievably rude. We sat down, ordered drinks and asked if we could have a bit of time to view the menu. Our nice waitress said of course. Our £40 bottle of wine turned up and we started enjoying deciding what we would have. I could see the rude chap chastising the waitress and pointing at us. He then marched over and told us it was a busy Saturday and we had to order now. We were utterly shocked. I can’t believe we actually ordered. I wished we’d have told him to shove it. Food was ok, nothing special and even it had of been amazing it wouldn’t have made up for that experience. Part of dining out is about being made welcome. We were two well dressed polite people from a theatre afternoon expecting a nice post-theatre meal. I left most of my meal because I kept putting my fork in it to fend of the waitresses who he kept dispatching to see if people were done. At the end the waitress took an unfinished glass of wine away without asking. We were in there less than an hour and a half which is surely the minimum time any one should be permitted to enjoy a restaurant experience for £120. Never again and I’d recommend avoiding it on a Saturday evening unless you want to be treated like an inconvenience.

Wow. This Italian restaurant has large food and wine menu. I asked for a bottle of Sauvignion and was suggested to try another similar Italian wine. A try before you buy! How excellent. We ordered different dishes and everybody thought there's was the best. My monkfish was unbelievable and with a perfect background spice in the sauce. The desert were also excellent. A live atmosphere and was busy from 5:30 when we arrived way past the time we left.

Very fast service when we've been, lovely hosts and great food!

Haven't been italian restaurant for quite a while so gave it a try but the food standard was disappointed. Me n my wife ordered 2 steaks they were both over cooked n they are only warm, 1 of the steak was missing the roast garlic butter and the fries were too salty. The service is nothing special but they do request 10% service charge tho. Definitely will be no repeat customer and Just Can't be bother to recommend it to friends.

AVOID !!! Very disappointed experience with this resturant. My son having a birthday party here which I brought my own cake here but got told from staff that we can only allow to take it out to take pictures bit can't eat it or sharing it . One of the staff actually raising his voice to my wife to not eat the cake here but she was actually just decorating the cake that's all which already has the permission to do so . Food is not good either, pasty is on the chewy side . Lobster tail meat is tough to chew.

The food in this Italian restaurant is pretty good, but the price is on the high side. The location is easy to find in the city center. The service attitude of the waiters is very poor, which can be described as bad. It was my grandson’s birthday and I went to this restaurant for dinner with a birthday cake. I was told by the waitress that this restaurant does not allow customers to cut or eat birthday cakes in the restaurant. They can only take pictures of birthday cakes and then take them out of the restaurant. I have experienced countless restaurants in various countries for most of my life, and I have never heard of such strange and unreasonable behavior. Due to the rules, it’s no wonder that only three customers visited this restaurant during prime dinner time. Even the good food can’t offset the waiter’s poor attitude. Finally, I wish this restaurant good luck. With today’s service attitude, it will definitely not be the case. There are repeat customers.

If you looking for a decent meal you can forget about it, Marks and Spencer ready meal was 100 times better. Service was terrible as they too busy playing with their phone and chat to each other. I had fillet taste and look like being boil not grill and the pepper corn sauce is disgusting. They charge 10% service charge which is another joke. So save yourself some money get a local take away you will enjoy lot more.

I have very high expectations when it comes to family owned restaurants. This one did not disappoint! Service 5/5. Food 5/5. Atmosphere 5/5. Pricing very reasonable! We enjoyed the Garlic Tomato Bread, the Spaghetti Bolognese, the Lasagna, the Tiramisu, and a lovely bottle of Prosecco. Total including tip less than 100GBP. When I spoke to the manager to tell him how much we enjoyed our meal he explained they were short staff tonight. You would have never known it. They were at the table every time before we knew we needed them. The food came out very quickly. It was a perfect 5/5 evening.

We visited after work. We booked in advance and were greeted and seated quickly. I ordered Risotto Al Funghi £14.95 Arborio rice cooked with garlic parsley mushrooms white wine butter and parmesan cheese and cream. As always really nice. My friends had pizzas and lasagne which all looked really good. For dessert I ordered a lemon Bombe which had lemon curd in the middle ice cream and meringue tasty. All good and good atmosphere and good service.

Best Italian in Birmingham City Centre! Very authentic! Great pasta & Pizza! They do gluten free pasta which is great! Staff are amazing there also!

Great family run restaurant, with what is easily the best focaccia and carbonara I've had! Will 100% be back!

We wanted an authentic Italian restaurant and that’s exactly what we got. The food was fabulous and the service was just as fabulous. The manager even took the time to teach my niece the best way to eat mussels! Will be back next time we are visiting Birmingham. Thanks La Galleria!!!

We visited for a family meal during Easter weekend. The restaurant was pleasantly busy. The staff were very professional and attentive. They sat us at a large round table (for 8 of us). This was a nice change from being sat in 2 long rows, which makes conversation difficult. We had a coeliac with a nut allergy in our party. From the booking process until ordering, our requirements were checked and double checked. The staff seemed very aware of the ingredients in the meals they were serving. Our meals were all delicious. Hot and very fresh tasting, actually including the advertised ingredients (this seems to be quite an issue at the moment, many restaurants seem to be scrimping on the pricier ingredients). We felt valued as customers and that our needs were paramount. The meal was very reasonably priced. All in all, excellent. We will return.

I recently dined at this Italian restaurant and was utterly delighted with the experience. The lamb and roasted salmon we had that evening were exceptional, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavors that transported us straight to Italy. It’s clear that this place prides itself on serving authentic Italian cuisine, and they do it remarkably well. The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was top-notch, making our dinner all the more enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for genuine Italian dishes that will not disappoint. Will definitely return!

A group of us booked a Sunday lunch for Easter. We sat on the balcony and they put 3 tables together for the 8 of us. The staff were very attentive and helpful and we soon had drinks (not expensive). We all had bruschetta, olives and bread for starters while we chose our mains. I had the Dover sole which was to die for. The others had various mains which were delicious. We had a selection of cheeses for desserts. The bill was incredibly reasonable and everyone loved their food. The staff were all excellent and we will certainly be back.
