Cucina Rustica in Birmingham

I’ve been here a few times. The first time it was wonderful, the food was great but now I’ve been a few times the food and service is definitely on a decline. The waiter kept getting our order wrong. There’s nothing worse than a warm beer! The steak 🥩 “sad times” there’s no longer that nice thick juicy meaty steak that everyone looks forward to on a night out. It’s shrunk!! Well too thin. Two people on our table had the steak, it looked awful, for the price it was ridiculous. Honestly! The only thing that was half way good was the lasagna but I wouldn’t give it 5*. I’d like to go back there for the atmosphere but I think we’ll hold back until we can check reviews to see if there’s a major improvement. Oh and the chips were like cardboard!!

Suburb Italian restaurant. We had pizza (gluten free), carbonara and bolognese. Food tasted sublime, some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Highly recommend.

Distinctly average Italian - definitely not authentic or good, despite many reviews suggesting this. We all had pasta, which we all thought quite disappointing. I had the duck tagliatelle, where the supposed porcini mushrooms were just tasteless button mushrooms, and the sauce was a bland cream.

Good food, drink, service and atmosphere at a reasonable price. What more can you ask for. I would highly recommend visiting.

Free bread/focaccia and olives were provided, we then had a starter, main, and dessert each along with 2 non alcoholic drinks each. The food tasted amazing and the portions were of a decent size, the presentation in the restaurant was good, the server was polite and the busser was very good. Would definitely return.

Amazing food! Great value for money

This is my first ever review. I’ve been to this restaurant three to four times within the last year and have always enjoyed it. Just left the restaurant this evening after having a quiet family meal. After raising a small issue with the manager, I was quite taken back by his humble and heartfelt response. As a family, we left feeling like it was a great end to the evening and a positive start for us going into the new year. Had a lovely meal here for a Christmas evening out. Gnocchi and garlic bread starters and the chicken for main. Excellent service, beautiful restaurant and very reasonable price for the quality. Will definitely visit again!

Went for a Christmas party meal and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The restaurant goes all out with the Christmas decorations and is very festive. Highly recommended. Portion size are big😄

Lovely decorated for Christmas. Went for a works do, 9 of us in total. Staff so attentive and polite, food was off set Christmas menu. Portions were great, food was amazing, everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the food. Great food and surroundings. Highly recommend.

A lovely meal, a lovely setting and all at a reasonable price! The staff were great too. Short walk from the arena as we were in town for a show. A great alternative to the silly price restaurants near Brindley Place.

I booked a table at the last minute through Open Table. The restaurant was quite a walk from the main city centre. It is a very large restaurant but well appointed. We chose to have a seafood platter between two of us as a shared starter. It was huge! On reflection we should have just ordered a main course. We both had veal in a mushroom, brandy and cream sauce. We had separate dishes of sauté potatoes and veg. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection. We both failed to finish the main course because we had such a large starter. We couldn’t fault the food or the service. Can thoroughly recommend.

Food was lovely. Unfortunately, I spotted a hair on my friend’s dessert. The price of the dessert was taken off the bill but just spoiled the experience for us. Otherwise a lovely restaurant to eat at. First time I had been there and very popular. I would give it another try

Pre-show dinner at 5pm so restaurant was quiet but not empty. Gorgeous lasagne and tagliatelle con pollo. Really good comfort food on a snowy day and fast service. All to like.

All in all, a delicious Italian food place! I felt a little limited with the menu as a halal/vegetarian eater, but I thoroughly enjoyed the creamy mushroom risotto I ended up ordering. Possibly some of the best creamy risotto I've had, I must admit! So I highly recommend if in want of good Italian food. The service was great and they helped bring out a cake we'd brought for a birthday! Wonderful staff, helpful, supportive.

I had visited this restaurant the month before as part of a group. I was so impressed that I told my husband about it and he really wanted to try it for himself. He wasn't disappointed and it was as good as the first time for me. The food was excellent, a good choice of drinks is available. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. We were given plenty of time to peruse the menu , without any pressure to hurry.

Came to celebrate my husband’s birthday on a Friday evening. The staff were amazing, the atmosphere was great and the food was SO delicious! Best Italian I’ve had in Birmingham. Will love to come again.

What a wonderful find. The food was delicious, we had a main of monkfish and a starter of scallops, both were beautifully cooked and it was washed down with a bottle of pinot that was also first class. Would highly recommend, great service and lovely surroundings.

it was probably the worst carbonara I've ever eaten, more like scrambled eggs with pasta, the service was also below the acceptable standard do not recommend this place!

Fantastic service from the get go. Attentive and smiles all round. Food was fantastic and very reasonable for the quality provided. The cheesy garlic bread was on everyones tables so we had to go for it, it did not let us down. Highly recommend.

Lovely friendly staff and I loved the food

The food was excellent. The service cannot be faulted. The place was full. We were put next to a table of rather chavvy customers who had finished their meal and they were shouting during their conversation. I asked to move and the staff kindly moved to another table which improved the evening immensely. Thank you Cucina Rustica as we will return again.

What a lovely restaurant - very friendly, very welcoming and lovely food. I found this by doing a search on Google "restaurants near me" and I am so glad I did. As it was lunch time - there was no problem getting a table - although there were others who also knew about this gem. We had the goats cheese with the pear, both tangy and sweet and the calamari, lightly battered with a tartare sauce - both delicious and then duck tagliatelle and the crab linguine - beautiful. The food was fresh, gorgeous looking and tasted even better. The chilli heat in the crab linguine was spot on , leaving a warmth and tingle in the mouth but not overpowering.Portion size was more than generous - in fact we didn't really need the starters but so glad we did. Two beers and 2 soft drinks later - two very satisfied customers. Would highly recommend.

Very nice and really good Italian restaurant. It's worth a visit. The prices are reasonable and the conditions were very accommodating. Regarding the furnishings I would say: upscale / rustic. Thank you very much for this enchanting evening.

The location, atmosphere and food were all lovely. We did, however, have to wait a ridiculous amount of time between starter and main courses. Our waiter was on a trial shift and took our starter plates away, mistakenly thinking they were our mains. So he didn’t come back with the main course. The team apologised, but it did dampen the evening a bit.

Real nice food and decently priced to. All staff members where really friendly ans I would go back there again in the future.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Cusina Rustica! The Italian food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was so cozy and inviting. The staff were incredibly friendly and made our visit extra special by singing a cheerful Happy Birthday to my dad. It truly made our night memorable. The ambience was cozy yet elegant. The food was truly amazing - the parmigiana of melanzane, the salmon and the linguine with crab were absolutely delicious.

Awful food. Pasta was all reheated. Definitely not freshly made. So poor considering the prices you pay. Definitely wont be returning. Lots of much better places in and around Birmingham.

AN EXTRA AMOUNT OF CHARGES AMOUNTING TO £61 WHICH UNFORTUNATELY WAS NOT NOTICED ON RETURN TO HOME. REALISED THE BILL SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHECKED IN THE RESTAURANT BUT DID NOT WANT TO BE THAT PERSON SCRUTINISING IN FRONT OF PEOPLE WHOSE BIRTHDAY TREAT IT WAS. TRUSTED THE STAFF IN THE RESTAURANT THAT THE BILL WOULD BE ACCURATE - HOW WRONG WAS I!!!!!!

Dined at this restaurant this evening and had the most wonderful food and experience. The staff were fantastic and the food was absolutely exquisite. We all had different dishes and all were outstanding. They even adapted one meal to a vegan dish at very short notice. The atmosphere is beautiful, calm and relaxing. Had to try the dessert menu. The Italian Apple Cake! WOW!!! 👌👌👌 Full marks to the Staff.

I had a work team dinner here and we had a wonderful time! I ordered the veal with maushroom sauce and the mushroom sauce was delightful, however the veal was dry. Excellent wine selection and beautiful ambiance. The best part was the kind accommodating staff. I would return but probably choose another entree.

We were my son passing through Birmingham to attend the first Aston Villa football match. We are French. For our last evening, we wanted to try a restaurant offering Italian cuisine. After consulting Google Maps and reading the reviews, our choice fell on Cucina Rustica. We were there on a Saturday evening, and it must be recognized that the restaurant is located in a very very quiet area without really any animation or population at that time of the day (8:00 p.m.). Concerning the restaurant, the decoration is very pleasant and pretty. The staff was very helpful and the manager even made the effort to come see us at the table to say a few words in French. It was really nice of him. The cuisine was really very good, too bad it lacked a little generosity (Italian or not? 😁). We enjoyed ourselves all the same 😋 The only real criticism is the lack of respect from a table of guests who kept laughing and especially talking very loudly throughout the dinner. It was very disturbing. I wish management would have asked these people to make less noise. This is why I am deducting a star from the atmosphere. But it doesn't matter, I still had a great time with my son. If I ever come back to Birmingham with my wife I will come back to this restaurant as it is quite romantic. 😍

Went here for an anniversary. Warm welcome, lovely ambiance, we both remarked on how nice the lighting was. Wait staff were friendly, attentive. Food was great. Lots of very appealing options on the menu. My husband raved about the mussels (a special) and my mushroom risotto with asparagus was hearty and delicious.

This restaurant is lovely from the time we walked in until we left we were made to feel welcome, the food was fabulous it was our first time here and it will not be the last. The restaurant is clean and tidy, its a quiet place that allows you to have a lovely time and feel at ease. The staff members were not over bearing they were all attentive and polite, this place is a must visit, prices for the food is average and the portions are spot on, I loved our time here very enjoyable.

Cannot recommend this brilliant restaurant enough. Myself and my husband have been coming here for over 10 years. This was the place of our first date and have been going back ever since. The food is 10/10 authentic and delicious. The service is second to none! Staff are always so welcoming! We will nowr certainly be going here for many more years to come.

We were visiting from London and googled searched nearest Italian, this happened to be 4mins walk from our hotel so we gave it a try. The staff were friendly, the food was great and most importantly our 1 year old son was very happy with his fish nugget meal. Will defo visit again next time we are in Birmingham

you have to try the mushroom Risotto! it’s the best i’ve ever had. i also tried the pizza and it was delicious, the pasta on the other hand wasn’t entirely my favorite. the staff is so nice and the whole atmosphere is wonderful. i’m truly sad i didn’t get to try the crème brûlée since it had alcohol but i hope one day they make a non alcoholic one!

Lovely first visit to Cucina Rustica, pretty decor and good seating inside and out. It was the perfect location from the Travelodge on Charlotte St where friends were staying. The staff were accommodating and moved us to an area with greater light for someone with sight issues. We all went the double starter route and the aubergine parmigiana was delicious.
