The best cafe in Muswell Hill. Everything about it is wonderful. The pastries are otherworldly, the salads pack unbelievable flavour, and coffee is amongst the finest in London. The owner, Claire, and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. And the cafe also doubles as a shop, selling everything from cookbooks and chutneys, to kombucha and old Miles Davis records. I adore this place.

Just to say that those pictures are out of date, most of the space is devoted to a shop and there isn’t really any indoor seating. More of a takeaway place with a couple of tables outside.

This place is so cool, everyone should taste their amaretti and their peanut butter cookies ! Also, staff is so sweet ! Thank u so much !!

I ordered an oat Americano for £3.30, but it tasted off - too watery, hardly any milk flavor, and the cup wasn't even full. Quite disappointed.

We just had a couple of coffees but they were very well made and very enjoyable. My only gripe would be that we sat outside and drank them so china would have been a better environmental choice, but we we still had to use disposable cups. Such a waste. Especially as they sell re-usable coffee cups too.

Lovely little shop and cafe with a warm atmosphere. I didn’t have anything to eat/drink but almost everything is made on-site (wow!). Great variety of gifts, clothing and collectibles. Things were reasonably priced for such a place in London. I will be back!

One of the best coffees in the area, probably even the best (to my taste)

La dinette is a little piece of France in North London, the coffee, bread, pastries are brilliant. Last week we had an unforgettable Pistachio chocolate croissant we are dreaming of and begged the owner to make again.😂 The owner is passionate, genuine and it’s testimony to her and the quality of her offer that the business survived and thrives post Covid. Cute little seats outside, it’s worth a visit.

It is the best pain au chocolat in Muswell Hill for sure! Second favourite are madeleines which are baked by the cafe. Also bought a few lovely cards made by local artists as well as strappy top to chill at the weekend. Friendly atmosphere and feeling of locality of this cafe has been created by Claire and her colleague. Thank you for doing such an excellent work and keeping all of us in sane.

La dînette it’s a wonderful place to have a cuppa of tea and coffee! For lunch dates it’s ideally good and in a fantastic place well decorated, the host Claire she is always welcoming, a great baker! Her macarons are so tasteful like fireworks in the mouth the flavours pops out so divinely! Her lunches are colourful like rainbows! Thank you for welcoming me for over 4 years! Delicious croissants and good coffee.

There is a large choice of cafes in Muswell Hill but La Dinette has to be the best for a good quality, extremely tasty coffee and a proper french croissant, hot from the oven!

Nice place with an interesting selection of odd bits and bobs Wife bought a cool beanie hat which she loved. Haven't tried the food or drink but will definitely return to try. The cake/sweet selection looked great.

The rudest place on Muswell Hill and a shame of the hospitality business. The staff think they are Hollywood celebrities. I wholeheartedly agree with all the reviews to say that this is an extremely unfriendly place. The food is nice but doesn't counter the negative vibe. One would think the pandemic lockdown would teach a place like this a lesson. No...... It became worse. They treat you like beggar.

La Dînette is a lovely café. We were in with our 2 young girls and it was a really nice experience. The staff were very helpful and the food was delicious - fresh and simple but done to perfection. My partner ordered a second cake (!) and the cannelé is the best outside Bordeaux. the coffee is fantastic. - it is roasted locally and so top marks for sustainability and community! Highly recommend it.

The best Coffee in Muswell Hill and maybe North London. The croissants taste like what you get from a good French boulangerie, my favourite morning treat is the canele. Tuna melt discovered this morning was delicious. Claire and her staff have done a really good job at building this cafe up and providing locals with some really good food, plus a nice atmosphere.

After completing shopping, needed a family friendly resting place . This restaurant was perfect as it has a child play area ( small) & is a cafe . The coffee was lovely.

Every single item in the menu is delicious! The brownies are amazingly good! Just the right balance between dark chocolate, chewiness and sprinkles of sea salt on top. The croque Monsieur is by far the best I've had. Totally recommend it!

La Dinette is the perfect cafe for those who want to take their kids to a Broadway cafe without worry of judgement from other diners. Very child friendly. Great staff too. An array of books and toys and activities for kids to do and a great coffee too. I only had eggs and sourdough soldiers, a freshly squeezed OJ and a flatwhite, but they were perfect. Plenty of highchairs and space for pushchairs too.

This is an example of a quaint and very special London cafe that has sadly gone very downhill. The owner never makes you feel welcome, always cross and unfriendly. The staff never smile... The coffee is over priced - which would be okay if the service was up to scratch. It is sad to see a place with such unique good and charm change am significantly. Too good to be true

I came to a delightful pop up evening meal at my favourite cafe one evening in the summer and asked if Claire (the owner) would consider putting on a meal for my 60th birthday. I could not have imagined it would be so good. Claire and her team designed a menu to suit my tastes, chose delicious wines and decorated the cafe with beautiful flowers and lights. So I celebrated my birthday with almost 40 friends and family - the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, Claire and the team produced endless delicious dishes and kept the wine flowing. I couldn't recommend La Dinette more highly for a celebratory meal in a warm and relaxed setting.

My family have just been ejected from La Dinette because my son became upset and was crying. This face is branded as child friendly but the opposite is true. My son is now even more upset, as he is very hungry.

Try something a little French at this tiny simple coffee place in Muswell Hill. Decent coffee although all coffees come in tiny cups not much bigger than an espresso cup.

Used to come here especially for croissants and coffee even though very expensive . Recently though I came just for a coffee as my 8 month son and I are on an exclusion diet of pretty much everything they serve ( wheat, nuts, dairy, eggs, soya, fish ) . Anyway I was sat there for half an hour waiting for my friends who would be ordering lunch and was almost brought to tears by the owner who made it very clear that she didn’t want me and baby there because we weren’t having food. I was very confused as there’s no sign saying you have to order food to be there ( not just coffee ), if I’d known I’d have arranged to meet my friends elsewhere. Also she made us feel very unwelcome for using one of their high chairs to feed him his baby food. He’s only 8 months and even without his allergy exclusions he would be too young to eat their food, he doesn’t have enough teeth yet. Very strange they have all this baby stuff there but then made us feel so uncomfortable in being there. It’s ironic they prompt you for a tip with every card payment ( even just for a high priced coffee despite having to go to kitchen to order. ), I wonder why they do this when the service is so confusing and on this occasion aggressive.

Amazing breakfast place with great coffee and good French desserts. This is the first one we found in Muswell Hill kids friendly cafe, with a small play for kids to play. Unfortunately this cafe has no or very little ventilation and the kitchen is next where you eat so your clothes might have a smell after you leave. That’s why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.

Ordered the breakfast plate. Best plate of food I’ve had in Muswell Hill. Beautiful, delicious, and nourishing. Very cute shop, nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Highly recommend. Update: tried the quiche of the day. Heavenly light and flavorful! The salad it comes with is a good size and also very tasty.

Amazing coffee shop flat white was nice and kindly served by the staff. Cakes was amazing we had a financier and a Canellé both was fresh and yummy!!! Friendly for kids!!! Will definitely go back to try their savoury food.

Little gem of a French cafe in Muswell Hill. Entirely delectable food, especially the house salad. I never usually order salads when eating out - apart from at La Dinette. The home made cakes and coffees are also excellent. Don't expect comfy seats or amazing mood lighting - do expect excellent food and hot beverages in a child friendly setting. If you haven't tried it yet - do yourself a favour and give them a go.

Excellent coffee, quiche and salad

Since my first visit, I've become an unashamed La Dinette convert, telling all in the area about the great food and smooth coffee at this local gem. My favourites are the quiche (with interesting flavours, switched up daily), and the salmon, avocado and egg salad. I'm only sorry that I may have damaged a few of their plates as I scrape up every last bit of food. I've not even mentioned the choice of baked good stuff for dessert so I'll leave that as a nice surprise when you visit. One hint; try a cookie with your cappuccino. Vive La Dinette!

Claire the owner has put her heart and soul into LA DINETTE her pastries melt in your mouth everything is just delicious. Lovely atmosphere. The community just love this place and understandably so! May she continue to serve MUswell HIll Billies for years to come!

Popped in for a coffee and a treat on Sunday. Coffee was lovely and the polenta and chocolate cake was moist and delish! Staff greet you with a smile. I would give it 5 stars if music was less loud...

great coffee, very tasty brunch options

The stuff they serve is great. Comfier seating needed. New tea/ coffee cups needed though. Also, turn the music up and tell the yummy mummies etc to pipe down a bit. Alsi, since they serve food, they really ought to tell people to keep their dogs outside the cafe (hint: it's called hygiene) 🤐 #standards

The BEST coffee around - your cappuccino or espresso will actually have flavour and complexity, not the bland predictable pseudo-coffee of most places. The salads are reliably delicious and the cakes and pastries to die for. Staff are friendly and with personality. Not your typical corporate cafe but unique, delicious, unchained excellence. Give it a try - we need more of these places in London to keep the chains at bay.

A lovely place with friendly staff, great coffee, fresh healthy food, bright and airy, the perfect atmosphere for catching up with a friend or getting some work done... And literally the best cookie in the world! As a regular, I am thankful for a place like this in my area.

This is a wonderful, comfortable place for brunches both healthy and indulgent. I came here with my boyfriend and the atmosphere was sunny and happy despite the dreary February whether outside. The avocado on toast was delicious. It is perfect for a couple’s Valentine’s morning late breakfast, but also for busy families and restless young ones.

Just had the best breakfast I think I’ve ever had , avocado , halloumi & tomatoes sourdough absolutely delicious , wonderful place

First up, not bad coffee. However, the coffee was slightly ruined by the attitude of the staff. They gave myself and another customer a look of "You are not the type person/people we want here". Maybe it was because I came with an Indian colleague.

Friendly and relaxed French cafe in Muswell Hill. Lovely cakes and coffee plus amazing macarons all served with a smile! The banana bread is to die for. They also do healthy salads and sandwiches which look very tasty. Kids have their own play area so parents can relax. Gluten free customers are well catered for with the delicious polenta, almond and lemon loaf served with jam. Yum!

There is space for children, the inside of shop is clean, as much as possible to be able to relax at least for one person with family． Both drinks and food are delicious．

La Dinette's interior is light and modern, staff are warm, and colourful contemporary art prints are on the walls (and for sale). It's family friendly and all open plan, so you can see them whipping up things in their kitchen area as you eat. My favourite breakfast dish is their poached pear, with greek yogurt and granola, downed with a fresh grapefruit juice. Their latte's are always warm and creamy. Other breakfasts I can vouch for include their avocado smashed on sourdough with a boiled egg on top.

With it's cafeteria style feel (order at the till), this place is very popular with the locals of Muswell Hill. I've been there about 5 times now since finding the place about 2 months ago. The menu is small but the food is really good. La Dînette salad is fantastic and served with a salad dressing to die for. I'm still trying to persuade the owner to tell me what's in it without any success, am now searching for ways of extruding the information from the staff. The cakes are homemade and yummy. My only recommendation is that the lovely young French lady owner invests in air conditioning as soon as the business can afford it, this would make lunch inside on a hot summers day far more pleasant (there are only 2 - 3 tables outside on the pavement - no terrace). Would love to see this establishment spread to other locations such as Highgate !!

Popped into this independant cafe in Muswell Hill after hearing and reading lots of good things about it and I wasn't disappointed. The coffee was excellent (hazelnut latte). Served at exactly the right temperature to drink; hot but not scalding like most chain coffee shops....

Wonderful pastries and excellent coffee in this very family friendly place. The croissant is one of the best I've had on this side of the English channel.

The owner and staff are really lovely. Good coffee and simple but tasty menu. The cafe provides for children, which I am sure is welcome to young parents in the area, but if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing spot to work or read a book, I am afraid this is not the place to come to; constant screaming, banging and alarms going off! Also the toilet feels and smells much more like a communal baby change.

Firmly among my top places to eat in London. La Dinette truly bring a delectable and vibrant food experience with a warm and friendly service. I recommend you try everything on the menu, but above all their scrumptious Cannele and Macaron which are unlike any other i've had before!

I often pop in for coffee and cake, and always seem to find something new and appealing to try. This, the variety of baking recipe books stacked near the kitchen area, and even the kiddies' kitchen play area, all attest to the love of baking at the heart of La Dinette! I've also tried the croque monsieur (cheesy mustardy deliciousness!), and the avocado on toast looks amazing too. Salivating just writing this review! The coffee is also good.

Top quality ingredients, good coffee, French patisserie (their speciality) and a delicious savoury menu too - and reasonably priced! Family friendly.

Very spacious, clean and welcoming cafe. Lots of room to sit and really friendly staff. The food on display looked excellent. We just came in for a cup of tea which was served in a stylish enamel mug with matching plate and milk jug. Well worth checking out as they do breakfast too.
