Cote Brasserie - Muswell Hill in Haringey

We go to Côte generally for family birthday celebrations and the experience has improved of late. We have been welcomed and mostly served by Gokey who makes this a very enjoyable experience for us. He is very attentive without hovering and can’t seem to do enough. He is an asset to the venue and we are very glad he is there.

I had breakfast in Muswell Hill brunch, and it was absolutely delicious. Staff was very amiable, and the service was amazing. Also, the best deal for breakfast, £13.95 for breakfast, and 2 drinks. Check it out as it's worth it! I look forward to comeback here and to try another delicious meal. They have the best deal xx

A lovely St Valentine's evening, our thanks to all the staff who worked so hard to make their customers feel welcome! POSTSCRIPT Very occasionally even the very best service standards slip, through no fault of anyone's, it just happens. So this visit was to recompense us for a previous visit where we had to gently complain about the food served us. It always pays to discreetly raise this with management rather than going direct to make public one's complaint. I contacted Cote and raised my concerns and the meal on 5th April was Cote's opportunity to make good on our complaint; and the Muswell Hill team surpassed our expectations. Thank you all, and we will be returning again. Thank you all in the service team that evening (especially the manager with the gorgeous shirt of which I was extremely covetous!!!)

There was a guy greeting us , I think he was the manager soooooo dreadfully rude !!!!!! Wouldn’t let myself and my friend sit where we chose to dispite the fact the restaurant was totally empty ! Outrageous disgraceful way to behave !!!!!! it was my birthday and he spoilt the whole experience ! I’d never set foot in there again ! Disappointed and the worst restaurant I've ever been to DONT GO !

Below average restaurant food I’m afraid. Unfortunately has to send back my ox cheek and mash as stone cold. Went with a party of seven and waited for nearly an hour and a half for the main course to be served. I’m afraid this is a perfect example of why one should avoid money making chains…

We’re regulars here, we love the food - fresh, well cooked, presented, and the ever so helpful staff (especially Jomza) who even remember our food choices.The brunch here is our highlight for the weekend (there’s a fantastic ongoing deal too), and lunches and dinners are delightful too. We came for dinner here for my wifes birthday. I booked for and early supper on a Friday, it was easy enough to park for free down one of the side roads which was helpful. With the booking i told them it was my wife's birthday. They gave us a glass of complimentary pink fizz and my son an non alcoholic version. It was a really nice touch and one i was not expecting. My wife an i ordered of the pre fix menu and my son ordered off the kids menu. Both menu have a nice select and are great value. I had the salad to start and my wife had the fish cake. My son had the calamari. They were a decent portion and delicious. We all had steaks for main but my wife and i upgraded to bigger steaks with a a £3 supplement. They were so good, they were out of sirloin so gave us rib eye steaks as a replacement. The food was cooked perfectly and so tasty. The quality for the price makes it great value. We all got desserts of the set menus and my wife got a candle in her mouse that she ordered. The staff were great and atmosphere and decor were spot on. Definitely be back again.

While the service and atmosphere were great, the breakfast was may be the worst I had in my life. I got the ‘cote breakfast’, food had no taste (besides the cherry tomatoes).

We were warmly welcomed to our table and the ambience was warm and friendly in the restaurant. The choice on the menus was good and suited our various dietary requirements. Our waitress was very friendly and the food and drinks arrived promptly. All in all it made a family meet up a really nice afternoon.

Horrendous food! My partner and I went to Cotes, Muswell Hill for dinner. We ended up very, very disappointed and my partner had to tend to an upset stomach the following day. I ordered the warm beetroot salad, where the flavour only came from the mayonnaise drizzled over it. For my main I orderd half chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce. When it turned up the chicken had no seasoning or colour and the sauce was like water with no cream and barely any mushroom. It was awful. No flavour whatsoever! I returned the dish. I then opted for the Duck lè orange, which wasn't amazing. The sauce mildly saved the pre-cooked, warmed up dish. My partner had the fish pie, which was very small in size for the price. It was dry and unfulfilling. All the food is pre-cooked and either warmed up in the microwave or oven. Nothing is cooked fresh. The food is of very poor quality and tasteless. The restaurant itself wasn't cleaned very well and some surface areas around where we sat were dusty and had food crumbs that hadn't been cleaned up. I cannot recommened this location of Cotes restuarant.

Went here for a meal with three older family members. I didn’t want much so didn’t go for a starter, though the other three people did. They went for the price fixe. We all had the Steak Frites (minute steak with chips) which came with garlic butter, There was also a little rocket on the plate. I found it delicious. I have a severe allergy to fish so we just asked if the chips were fried in the same oil as fish (they aren’t). I would have liked slightly more salad. However, I didn’t feel it was expensive. The table we were given was a little tight and I needed help from a member of staff to get up, I’m disabled so I often have some issues.

I find the tables for two are too small to be comfortable. Staff very nice. I ordered the cote burger which arrived over done, was never given the option to choose how I wanted it cooked. When I informed the waitress she told me this was cote policy as their supplier advised cooking it well done! I am surprised at this and have never come across it before?

We were very satisfied with the menu. My son is vegan, my husband avoids gluten but we all had lovely meals! Very friendly and courteous staff as well. They made us feel at home! Definately will visit again!

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Muswell Hill. The variety and quality of food is excellent. Their creme caramel is the best in London. The staff is consistently professional, friendly and always smiling. We would like to thank especially Svet and Yuliyana who usually serve us - they are both amazing! Highly recommended!

Even though the restaurant was buzzing when we arrived, we were wormly welcomed by the host and quickly sitted on a really nice table. We did not had booking I must say. Impecable service and great experince. Food fantastic! Highly recomeded!

A Disappointing Dining Experience My husband and I recently visited Cote in Muswell Hill and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. I had the two-course meal, with seabass fillets and potatoes. The seabass seemed to be pre-cooked and reheated, resulting in a cold and lackluster dish. Meanwhile, my husband ordered a steak tartare that he found it ok and for main sirloin steak which he said wasn’t good, not a good part of the meat and cold Our dissatisfaction peaked with the apple Tart tane dessert. £14.95 Not only was it overcooked and black Apple inside The total bill of £94, including a £24 bottle of wine, felt disproportionate to the quality of the lunch experience. While we understand that not every meal can be perfect, we believe diners should be able to enjoy their time at a restaurant without significant disappointments. We hope this feedback is constructive and that improvements can be made to enhance future patrons' experiences at Cote

It didn’t start well. The waitress was not particularly friendly with no smile . I sat down and she placed the menus on the table and barked out the specials . Did not ask me if I wanted a drink . Ten minutes later I still had t been asked if I wanted a drink or if I wanted to order . The restaurant was not busy so no reason for this . I left to the surprise of both waiters who were chatting . Neither asked me why I was leaving . I won’t be going back .

This has to be my favourite local restaurant, very pleased with my visit this evening. The food is delicious including the vegetarian options, the service is outstanding as the staff are very attentive, welcoming and friendly, ensuring everyone at the table was comfortable. We came for the set new years menu. We had a reservation and got seated right away and got our drink shortly after. Our food came quickly after we ordered and we had a much needed time gap between main meal and dessert. All the food was lovely and the service was prompt even though it was busy. We would definitely visit again.

It's great to try food you wouldn't necessarily cook at home, or prefer nitto dirty your kitchen. Staff are always friendly, with efficient service. Muswell Hill is a great place to walkabout, popping in and supporting the independent shops.

The manager was very friendly all way thru. The waiter who looked after our tables was an exceptional young man. We all were very happy and I was thanked by all my friends who attended the lunch. Thank you.

Does not accept payment by cash, but this is NOT on the menu, it is NOT on the website and the staff do NOT tell you this until you go to pay. Management need to sort this out. This practice is discriminatory.

After 80 minute wait we finally got our overcooked steaks. No one stopped by to ask about our food, additional drinks, sauces etc. The French onion soup was tasteless and small portion. At one point a waiter came by and brought us dessert menu thinking we have already eaten our main course. Incredibly disorganised team! Cote went down the hill since the acquisition back in 2020.

We went for a birthday celebration. Received a complimentary glass of champagne for everyone to start with. Great food at a reasonable price and excellent service. Special mention for Jean, the maitre d who was extremely welcoming and charming. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely evening! Friendly staff. Suzi was very attentive and gave us good recommendations which we was really pleased with. The food was all delicious. We ordered baked, camembert and mussels and fish pie which were all delicious. The only thing I would fault is the turkey on the seasonal menu which was very dry. Met up with a long standing friend for lunch arrived at noon and they would have been opened at least 30mins prior. I'll cut to the chase the service was poor. In addtition as the lead friend I felt as person of colour second rate. My white friend was asked her order first. I thought this was the attitude of the first waitress, but then on asking for my order which was delayed after my guest had her starter the second waiter again turned to my guest to ask their preferences. The food delivery was slow, and my chicken no longer showed any resemblance to its original state. I should have asked for the service charge to be removed but was too polite. All together a dissapointing experinence and given the new eateries in Muswell Hill this will not be my first choice again.

First impressions were quite good. The service was okay. I would give them seven out of ten. The food, not just mine but all who were with me had something negative to say. We did complain and the response was terrible. It’s like we were wrong. They said the food was perfect. Some of us said we had to eat some of it and that’s why we know it’s below par on quality and edibility. The customer service at that point took them down to one out of ten. I do not recommend this restaurant as from all angles of hospitality and food fail.

The food was generally good but they got our order wrong on one of the sides and the pork cassoulet was a little disappointing as the meat was all fat. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting.

The waiter called Uri was very attentive and polite! In addition to his great service, he went an extra length and lent me a charger for my phone. The whole team is superb! When one staff wasn’t around, the other took the order ever so quickly!

I have been charged kids food which he couldn’t it. It was awful. Their explanation was worse. Service quality is very low. Never come again.

A large, airy and comfortable restaurant with well spaced tables and lovely staff. Although it is part of a chain, we are always given personal attention and well looked after. The food is of a good standard, we like their very simple steak frites.

We went for lunch. Had the fixed lunch menu which was very reasonableness priced at £16.95 for 2 courses or you can have 3 courses for a little more. Our foods wash first class. We had the mussels and a salad as starters then chicken in a mushroom cream sauce and French fries and grilled sea bass with courgettes and potatoes. We were quite full so couldn't go for the dessert although we were tempted. Highly recommend. In general, all Cite restaurants are very consistent, delicious food and very happy good value.

Eating chicken and suddenly discovered a pice of metal in my food. I'm allergic to metal unless is music.

We left it too late to book a table for Father’s day, as we changed our location plans. Nevertheless, we took our chances and went in to Côte Muswell Hill. The lovely lady (I believe floor manager) said she would check and retuned within less than a minute and sat me and family of 5 on a lovely spacious table with a booth like design. The staff were all very welcoming and accommodating and there were no issues with the food, came in good timing, and all together. My dad was even presented with a complimentary beer for Father’s Day, as did all the other Dads in the restaurant. I have marked the food as 4* only as it was nice, but nothing that wowed as such. Prices are reasonable too.

This is one of my local restaurants that I always trust to serve nice meals at a reasonable price. Lunch for 2 courses which include either a starter or dessert. I went for mussels in chilly tomato sauce as a starter which really were tasty and sea bass as a main. All for the price of £16.95.

We were able to enjoy good food and service, and, at the same time, have a jolly good chinwag with friends. The manager was very accommodating and despite choosing to be in a quieter section, he made sure that we were attended to.

Went with my girlfriend and her parents for lunch on Saturday, 11th of march, and one of the waitresses was very rude, loud, and obnoxious how she took our order, spoke to us, and even when we paid. Horrible experience. If I wasn't with my gf's parents I would have called the manager.

This restaurant went downhill.Severely downhill. I went there for a dinner last week. The food was inedible, and it didn’t look any better. Staff was disinterested. I had a meal in this restaurant several times before and it was always very nice, now it’s completely the opposite. Sandwich from Sainsbury’s tastes better and you don’t have to pay the service charge.

Came in on a Monday morning at around 11am with my wife and 4 year old son, it was not busy at all and the waitress asked if we had a booking. We hadn’t but didn’t see the issue as only 2 other tables were filled. However, as soon as we walked in she seemed offended (we are of south Asian descent) and made us feel really uncomfortable by just staring and not really replying to our questions. Thinking this was all in our heads we sit at a table and start looking at the menus, she came over and asked what we wanted. We had picked for our son but not for us so we asked her to put his order in first and to give us a little more time. This again seemed to offend her and she just stood there staring, I had to repeat what I said 2 more times and the 3rd time I actually shouted the same response and then she just walked off. She came back again and we told her what we wanted, when she asked for drinks I asked for a lemonade (pretty standard, right?) and she said they didn’t have any. I asked if she had anything similar and again she just kept staring with an air like we disgusted her. At this point I told her we won’t be staying and just left. She didn’t care.

I tend to write reviews only when my experience has been excellent or truly awful. Read on... When arriving we ordered and asked if the food might come quickly as my wife was on her lunch break. The food took an age (25 minutes plus) and the place was largely empty. After such a long wait, I was expecting something with a bit of St. Tropez charm. What arrived had more in common with St.Ockport. I ordered french onion soup. What was put in front of me was a bowl of what can only be described as brown porridge - it was like mashed bread in bisto. When I called the waiter over holding a blob of this brown goo on my spoon - she explained humbly that they are allowed only a certain amount of liquid per serving. Honest I suppose. My son's burger arrived. It was covered in that modern brioche bun stack and looked impressive. Underneath, masked by lettuce, was something with the texture of one of those frozen burgers you used to get in the 70s when processed food was still new and they hadn't quite worked out where to put the string. After trying one mouthful of that mysterious mixture of solid knife-resenting stodge and gristle, my son said "no more". My wife, who is extremely kind, ate her chicken salad and said it was "fine". It was this "fine" and the fact that you can't actually mark something with zero stars that has compelled me to give this gastric experience a one star. May I say with some assurance I shall not be returning to Cote Muswell Hill again, until it shuts down and has the good sense to become something serving better food - like a WHSmiths.

I had the salad nicoise with tuna which was nice , but was not happy with the quantity of what was in the salad like 2 slices of boiled potatoes which was under done, 1 peace of green bean and 1 peace of anchovie. For the price that they charge.

The staff were incredibly friendly and facilitating, we had a great table and all of the food and drinks were perfect. There's a lot of choice in Muswell Hill but you can't go wrong with Côte.

We have been here quite a few times as it is a very convenient location and the food is normally pretty good without ever being spectacular, came here with my my wife , brother and his wife as well. The service was really poor and felt sorry for the young waitress who was pretty clueless but seemed totally unsupervised. Had no idea how to open or serve a bottle of sparkling wine and managed to let a load of wine spill over as well as giving us literally half a glass of bubbles. As well she was not attending to tables in the way you normally expect and we had to ask for the table to be cleared as well as for our bottle of wine as it didn't arrive before the main dinner. had to be told we needed clean glasses as well which is a really basic thing. The food was not good either , my prawns were a bit bland but to be fair not unpleasant. The Beef cheek bourguignon was rather poor , no lardons but a piece of bacon and the meat sauce was rather dry. This was not rectified by serving it with a jug of bisto gravy ... thats a first even for a middle ranged bistro. The green beans were a very small portion and were overcooked and dry. Feedback was similar from the others that the kitchen has lost its way and the food was below standard from previous visits. In this cost of living crisis we are eating out less so certainly wont be going back to somewhere that has poor service and uninspiring food . The owners need to get their act together quickly as there are plenty of alternatives in Muswell Hill
