Last month we visited Hereford for the first time as a day out for my birthday. We really liked it, especially the area around the cathedral where we had previously booked lunch at La' De Kitchen based upon online photos, menus & endless positive reviews, all of which are fully justified. The lunch was the highlight of the day and in itself would have been worth the 2 hour drive from Bath. Fabulous high vaulted ceilings in an interesting old building with views from our sun soaked table to the cathedral. The toilets were spotless which says a lot about any restaurant. Paulina's hospitality was friendly & attentive from the moment we arrived. The food was excellent and refreshingly there were more interesting options than my wife is used to as a vegetarian. Calamari starter followed by the lamb casserole was a good choice for me, but don't miss the baklava with the world famous pistachios from Antep (Turkey), a mouth watering experience. We look forward to visiting again as from what we saw there is no other restaurant to touch this one in the whole city.

I love to come across restaurants like this when I’m on holiday in an area I don’t know. Places that exceed expectations and you just want to pack it up and take it home so you can become a regular. It’s an impressive building – the former post office. It’s listed as being of architectural importance, so there are restrictions in place on what can be done to the exterior, but they don’t apply inside and a bright modern room has been created with a great feeling of space. There’s welcoming and hospitable staff. And a menu of delicious sounding food (mainly Turkish but also taking in dishes from the wider Eastern Mediterranean). And there’s a kitchen that knows how to cook it and serve it up in generous portions. The hospitality is there from the start, with a couple of freebie dips – a quite spicy tomato one and a garlicky yoghurt one, served with shards of crisped pitta. Fortunately, we’d brought an appetite with us, so were able to demolish that and then move on to the starters we’d already ordered. There was a lovely tabbouleh, mainly parsley, with a very lemony dressing – it may even have been better than the one at our favourite Syrian place at home. If not, then it’s a close run thing. The other dish we shared was barbunya pilaki – beans cooked with carrot, onion and potato in a tasty tomato sauce. Delish! On the basis of never knowingly being underfed, we also had a bowl of olives. And it all comes with house made bread, which was fantastic. A bit like foccacia For one main course,there was imam bayeldi, - a long cooked aubergine, split open and topped with onions and tomatoes. You’ll see the dish in many Turkish and Middle Eastern places and each seems to have its own take on its preparation. Some good, some not so good. This was very good – rich and unctuous. Lamb iskender is another Turkish classic. Small pieces of lamb, tossed with cubes of bread and all mixed with a tomato sauce. On the face of it, a simple dish but it takes skill to bring it all together. The manager, who is also the head chef, suggested that, if we came back, we should try the lamb just as a kebab, so we could get its flavour unadorned. Rightly so, he was very proud of the quality of the meat he serves. Alongside, there’s a serving of labneh, which had been warmed in the oven which brings out a tangy, citrusy flavour in the yoghurt. Unsurprisingly, by this time, we were full and had no room for dessert or coffee. But we had spent a really nice evening there.

We have eaten at the La'De Kitchen in Hereford on several occasions, sometimes just the two of us, sometimes with our whole family. On this occasions it was with my whole family to celebrate my 71st birthday and the restaurant did not disappoint. As always the service was impeccable, the food excellent and the overall cost representing very good value. I would recommend this restaurant as the best in Hereford. Richard Aird OBE

My wife and I are visiting from Canada. While passing through Hereford we had an excellent meal at La'De Kitchen. We have been in the UK for more than week and enjoy a good pub meal as much as anyone, but thought it was time for something different. We were not disappointed. The service was both warm and efficient. While waiting, we were presented with some fresh-toasted pita with kacik and savory tomato based dip (sorry, I don't know the Turkish name). The food was excellent: lots of flavour and nicely presented. We both enjoyed our entree very much which was nicely balanced by the salad and augmented by a portion of rice. The restaurant itself is pleasant and inviting. Overall, one of the best meals we have had in the UK.

Large group booking, they handled with ease. The food was delicious, everyone happy. A slight error with pre-order was rectified without issue. A wonderful evening, would highly recommend.

We'd agree with the other reviews.The service and food were quite superb. There were some complimentary appetisers before the meal was served and, after casually mentioning it was my wife's birthday, a small birthday cake arrived at the end of the meal.The staff were charming and most efficient.

After a long day out, we came across this place purely by chance, due to the parking opposite. Turkish is our favourite cuisine, and we were not disappointed. The staff were great, restaurant decor pleasant and food 10 out of 10.

Lunch for 3, all delicious in a delightful setting looking across to the cathedral. Service very friendly. Plenty of choice for all whether a meat lover or vegetarian/vegan. We will definitely return

Our new favourite place. For special occasions. Rang booked table for 2. Food was plentiful staff knew their dishes. Music atmosphere everything&wow the margaritas 🍹everything was amazing. 5 stars wasn't high enough. They were busy but it was a calm environment. It's a nice spice not hot a real balance of flavour. The prawn dish was the highlight of the menu sauce was a real treat polished off. My man never goes for seafood, we like to see how things are presented before we order and seeing what another table had ordered made his choice. I had olives and the Adana beyti. A house special deserving of its title.

Absolutely appalling treatment of my friends and me by this restaurant. We had booked a table for 18 people for a special occasion for 7.45. We arrived, on time, to be told that the table was not available until 8.30. When we protested that we had telephoned two days before to confirm the arrangements, we were told that “a man” had phoned to change the time. This wasn’t true. They had obviously just let someone else have our table and we’re trying to fob us off. We couldn’t postpone until 8.30, didn't eat there and left immensely disappointed.

The food was delicious. Service started well, then dropped off. I think, perhaps, they were caught on the hop by the first sunny day of a bank holiday weekend. Waiting for ages to get some water for the table, had to order twice as they forgot. Dessert menu took ages and had to flag someone down. The dessert had been partially defrosted in the microwave (warm on edges, icy in middle). We even had to deal twice with trying to pay. The table we were at was placed in such a way that to get to one corner of the restaurant everyone had to stomp behind my wife's (uncomfortable chair). And music WAY TOO LOUD. I think we will try again midweek when perhaps things may be a little calmer.

I enjoyed a pleasant meal with my family at the restaurant, but I was somewhat disappointed by an incident during our visit. Unfortunately, my leftover food was accidentally dropped ( by a member of staff) on the floor - I observed this happening from my seat where I could see the kitchen. The waiter did not come to inform me about it. But I assumed fresh food would be cooked but this was not the case. Upon opening the takeout container later at home, I discovered that only vegetables had been included. I had expected to find chicken, chips, and salad, as these were the items I had specifically requested to be packed. The service provided fell short of my expectations, particularly considering the £18 service charge applied to my bill, and the oversight in providing the correct food items was a letdown.

Lovely family meal, large table with 3 small children. Staff were helpful and welcoming on arrival. Friendly staff with help for my daughter who is a coeliac. Food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. We will definitely be back.

This food is a delightful experience from the first bite to the last. The flavors are perfectly balanced, leaving a lingering satisfaction that keeps you craving more.

Had lunch there today with my daughter Jayne, after a rather harrowing medical appointment. It made everything ok again! Gorgeous food and perfect service, swilled down with a large glass of delicious Turkish wine. Highly recommended.

A delightful welcome and superb service from both the lovely girl & gentleman who attended to us. Felt as though on holiday in the lovely atmosphere of restaurant with authentic background music and lush food! The Fixed Lunch Menu had a good choice & as money limited in retirement, made it possible to treat ourselves to quality food & ambience. Will definitely be back when next visit Hereford...Sooner now rather than later now! Definitely recommend it on all levels. Thank you for a perfect lunch

Enjoyed the most incredible meal here this week. The food was absolutely delicious, we chose two starters, two mains and the baklava for dessert. Everything was stunning and the service was excellent. A lovely view of the cathedral topped it off! Cannot wait to go back!

We called in for lunch whilst visiting the area for a few days. The welcome was warm, the restaurant looked classy and the food was lovely. It was a Monday but was still surprised that the restaurant wasn't busier as lunch prices were very reasonable and the food lovely. I hadn't tried Turkish food before and was pleasantly surprised. Go on and give it a try

There were four of us for a quiet Sunday evening dinner . What a joy! Staff, athmosphere and the food was exceptional Levant inspired cuisine. Vegetarian, lamb and chicken dishes were inspired by fabulous flavours and exceptional attention to detail. I live in Taunton but would love to transport this place to Somerset-congratulations on a fabulous restaurant.

Incredible evening for valentines. The staff there are extremely attentive and the food is incredible. Special shout out to Natalie and Paulina who went the extra mile and do an amazing job, not to mention Paulina works so hard behind the bar, she's like speedy gonzales. Thank you, we'll be back.

The foods nice but a the portion sizes are inconsistent. Some dishes feel generous and others seem quite small in comparison. Compared to another Turkish restaurant in Hereford it is quite expensive.

It's like you've come to an art exhibition. It has a gate opening onto the gardens of Hereford Cathedral. The chef greets you at the door and introduces you to the dishes. There are original paintings on the walls. You can buy it if you want. I have been to many countries in the world. I think I've never seen a place that grills meat this well. Congratulations to Mr. Chef Soner.

Well they can have a 1 Star overall for the food but after the manager decided to insult my Wife at the end of the meal asking "when her baby is due" we won't ever be returning.

Like always everything was fantastic, from the cocktails, aperitif to the main course. Service very professional and efficient.

Everything just about seems alright, but the name used in ordering the food should have been attached to avoid the kind of situation that occurred. The order was seen after 2 hours of delivery. What is the essence of asking for delivery name and address?

Seemed expensive for a takeaway but it was huge with rice bread and salad. All hot and delicious

The best restaurant in Hereford!

We had our staff Christmas do last night. So everything was pre-ordered weeks ago. It took 45 minutes to get our starters & then an additional hour & a half to get our main. My lamb was nice, but others had cold turkey & mash, which looked awful. As so many were complaining about the service, they refused to serve our deserts. Certainly would not return & I didn't think it was worth the £40pp.

The food here was beautiful, the waiting staff were excellent, and the musicians were out of this world, creating a fantastic atmosphere

Went for lunch on Friday, the restaurant was quiet but still had a lovely atmosphere. The staff were amazing and made us feel welcome, food was delicious (we had a mix of hot and cold meze) and the beer was ice cold. Jus what you need during a heat wave! Only our second time here and we will definitely be back.

Nice food, but on the pricey side. Busy so we weren't attended to quite as we would have expected. Not impressed with a service charge being stuck on the bill.

Excellent food and friendly service

Great food, friendly waiter, enjoyable experience overall. Ps people moan about a service charge but as long as you enjoy the meal and get good customer service then why begrudge it? We are losing enough eateries without helping the staff earn a better wage, they either up the cost of food or pay a tip, simple. If you don't want to risk getting good service and paying a tip then stay home.

Best Turkish restaurant in Hereford by miles, couldn't fault it! Great service from the owner Dennis with a complimentary Baklava for date night, just amazing from start to finish. Perfect cocktails, tasty sharer but too full for dessert; next time for sure. Highly recommended.

The service here is better than anywhere else I have been in Hereford. The food is excellent with many choices on the menu for a vegetarian. Fresh ingredients, beautifully cooked dishes.

An exceptional restaurant. The atmosphere was holiday like, the food superb- great quality, generous portions, well cooked, the menu is unapologetically authentic, and the staff attentive to our every need. I wish I could rate this a 6/5! I shall be returning to try the lunch time menu and are already planning return celebration dinners. Bonus points: Dog friendly. Spotlessly clean. Disabled access. Amazing staff.

My wife and I had a great time at La'De Kitchen and would definitely recommend it. The staff were friendly and efficient, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was delicious, and you could tell that the chef used fresh ingredients to create flavourful dishes. Both the mezze and the main courses we ordered were equally tasty, leaving us more than satisfied with our choices. The restaurant's ambience was relaxed, and the gentle live music added a nice touch to the overall experience. We'll definitely be returning to La'De Kitchen again in the future.

Impressed with attentive, cheerful service. Very tasty Turkish food. Swish brasserie type decor with nice drink selection + they serve draft Efes (lager). Relaxed buzzy vibe in comfortable surroundings. Happily return to try some other dishes from their menu.

We go frequently to La'De Kitchen in Hereford, as a couple or with a group of friends. We are always made to feel very welcome by the staff, who are friendly and efficient. The menu is varied and inviting and the food arrives looking and tasting beautiful.

I'm not normally someone to leave a review but La'De blew us away with their service and food. My Husband and I visited here on a little date night, the first since having out little baby, and I must say we had an incredible experience. The service was brilliant, they made us feel so welcomed and offered great recommendations on drinks and the food always playing particular focus on the Turkish options to help us gain a much more authentic experience. We enjoyed the Turkish Wine, amazing Turkish Grill and not to mention some delicious Turkish deserts (Baklava and Kunefe) that were all made on site. Our server was exceptional, offing lots on insight and making us laugh on quite a few occasions. Nice touch that the Chef made his way around the restaurant talking to each of the tables. We also found that there was a really nice atmosphere throughout the whole venue. We are already thinking about a return visit with our wider family as we enjoyed it so much and know that they will as well! Thank you!

Takes 10 years To make and portions are sized for a starving African village . But it tastes nice

If i could give 10 stars i would. This is the best place i've ever been since i am in the UK. Me and my partner always go there when we have something special to celebrate,and we are never disappointed. Food to die for 🤤 and lovely staff. Highly recommended by someone who knows good food (an Italian 😁)

Visited La' De Kitchen today, I would definitely recommend a visit. A wonderful atmosphere. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and attentive with customers, in particular our waiter (Dom) who had a sound knowledge of the menu. We ordered from the Lunchtime Menu, and the food was well balanced with flavours; the lamb was succulent in both the Lamb Casserole and the starter off the main menu (Hummus Kavurma). I have been informed from a good source that the cocktails are also worth a taste, so will have to return to sample. Overall, a great place for an impromptu lunch along with a planned visit with friends and family. harika, görülmeye değer!

Food looks nice shame about the people

We arrived for a very late lunch, so the restaurant was, not surprisingly, quiet…but this meant we enjoyed excellent service and good conversation with the waiter. Our dog was delighted by her meaty treats and we very much enjoyed the food, including a complimentary appetiser.

Very impressed with the charcoaled grilled meats, the lamb in particular was top tier. Selections of beers, wines and spirits are well above average. Service was very good.
