Nice food, came here a couple of times, went especially for cullen skink, had to send it back due to having no fish in it, it was soon rectified seconds bowl was delicious. Second visit in the week fish platter for two, lobster was tiny for two people and rubbery only gave us three langoustines meal for two, it was OK but needs improvement at 48.00 , wouldn't have it again, but overall good place to eat

A group of us stopped in here for a couple of sociable pints on what was a memorable day's drinking. Ideally located on the doorstep of Lossiemouth's East Beach, we sampled both the internal and external seating to take in some of the views. I definitely felt comfortable throughout my stay. The draught pints were part of a fine selection of world 'Beers', the atmosphere was quiet but very inviting (peaceful), the staff were friendly and the cost of the rounds, although slightly expensive, were justifiable as we truly felt that we were in one of the town's more upper market establishments. Although brief, this was a welcomed one hour stop during our day out. Fun had by all!

Location was very good, staff were okay, food was not very good. Pork was over cooked, smoked haddock lasagne contained very little smoked haddock and the Langoustines were over priced. I agree with a previous reviewer that there was only a token effort made regarding Covid safety. We will not be back.

Had meal on Saturday evening, sat at outside table waited half an hour for our order to be taken two members of staff seemed more interested in chatting with two regulars at next table, main course (roast of the day-pork ) was ok but a bit tough but served with nice veg and tatties, sweet was much better delicious bannoffie tart with crispy base served with cream and ice cream my partner had lovely sticky toffee pudding which was well enjoyed. Pity about slow service don’t think I would rush back.

Food and location ok, but only token effort made with regard to Covid. So we won’t be going back in a hurry. You can sit in or out - we chose to sit out. You select your food choice off the board by the door. So at peak times people crowd around this, often unmasked and with little regard to social distancing. Orders must be placed and paid for at the bar. That involves going into the restaurant, round the one-way system but - at peak times - past occupied tables. So social distancing is again difficult. Table service, but staff are not masked.

Used to be very good food and service as the 1629. Went a lot for dinner. Not sure what happened, same staff, same owner still wanders in and out of the place, different name to the restaurant , food sucks now,. Less choice, doesn't have the freshness about it. Won't be going back in a hurry.

She had the lemon drizzle cake and coffee. Both very good, nice large slice of cake. I had gone all wobbly so went for the big breakfast, and I have to admit that it was outstanding in quality, perfectly cooked, well laid out. The sausages and black pudding were especially good. Well done folks, really enjoyable.

Visited here when we had the amazing heatwave in April. I sat outside in the sunshine with my dog while I waited for a friend to arrive, I sat for longer than half an hour without being approached by any member of staff. The waitresses walked past me a few times and I couldn’t get their attention. I had to wait until my friend arrived to go inside to ask for some service- and some water for my dog. I had a panini for lunch and it was very nice. Very disappointed in the service which is a shame because the area, (especially sitting outside on a sunny day) and the food is really good. Will maybe try again when I’m next in the area! (If the sun is shining!)

La Caverna bistro is set in an arched building decorated in stone and looks like the inside of a cave. This building has been around for well over 40 yrs ( I remember it as an 8 yr old being a newsagent). Now a bistro it offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is cooked to order and claims to be sourced locally. If you are pressed for time or not wanting food you are still made welcome to sit and have a fresh coffee. There is a small seating area outside that looks over the East beach and is a perfect sun trap in the summer months.

I dined here on a quiet Tuesday night with my mum and dad. Seated straight away and given menus, the music was very loud and the strange array of lights they have are blinding and distracting. It was cold out the night we visited and the waitresses had propped open he door while they moved chairs in/out. Upon asking if the door could be closed we were barked at that they were moving chairs. We ordered drinks and starters and mains, one recommend by the waitress. I had Cullen Skink and my mum the three Scottish pudding starters. My serving was very small and not flavourful my mum enjoyed hers. Our mains arrived, my mum the Italian Job burger, me a chicken and prawn curry dish and my dad the Pollo Risotto. My mum again enjoyed hers, my dish was tepid at best but my dad found a hair in his risotto.Upon telling the waitress she was very apologetic. She didn’t remove the dish straight away but went on serving another table. She took it away and asked if he wanted something else. He plumped for the same burger as my mum. He enjoyed this and ate it but I was put off and only ate half of mine.My mum and myself finished ours but my dad had just started his. My mum decided to get a coffee while we waited and called over a waitress who gave her a dirty look and said she’d be with her in a second but ignored us until my mum placed her order with a second waitress. The original waitress then came over and asked how she could help. My mum explained she’d already ordered and the woman said fine and walked off leaving two dirty plates on the table. When my dad had finished she then came over and asked if we’d like desserts or coffees. We explained we’d ordered coffees and she then cleared the table.Upon paying they didn’t discount any of my dads meals and when he queried this the waitress told him that he’d had another meal instead. A total disappointment and certainly won’t be going back there soon.

Garlic mushrooms sautéed in garlic served on toasted Italian bread topped with rocket and Parmesan. Tasty but quite greasy and the bread was far too soggy. Morag Firth scampi served with hand cut chips, salad, peas and tartare sauce. It was okay, chips were good. Salad had dressing on it but not mentioned on menu. Couldn’t eat it...waste of food. For anyone approaching (us) it wasn’t immediately obvious that ordering was done inside - we wanted to sit outside. After sitting for 10 min we had to ask for menus - at which point the set up was explained-order inside. After being shown to a table things didn't go that well. No menu's were brought over to us for a long period of time. The waitress finally appeared, took our order, both food and drink. The drinks arrived quickly. I ordered scampi, chips with salad and tartar sauce. No tartar sauce. Chips were undercooked and pasty looking. Not very nice and certainly not handmade.....unless McCain have a new range out. Scampi was okay. The coleslaw was cheap and tasteless. My other half had the LA Grill which looked like it had been thrown together. Chips....all 7 of them were undercooked and pasty. The bacon was extremely salty, onion rings were definitely cooked from frozen. The burger was from an economy range and was dry. A tiny portion of black pudding and a fried egg that looked like it had been dropped. To top it off we had extra drinks on charged to our bill, which was far too expensive considering the cheap use of ingredients. Needless to say we won't be going back.

My first (and last) visit! It's a 90 minute drive each way so really has to be worth it and this place just wasn't. The staff were friendly to each other but not interested in the customers. Each main dish was served a space apart so we all ended up eating cold food while we waited. The serving staff apologised for the chef but they got the wine order wrong. I had breaded haddock and chips - the fish was tasteless, the chunky chips were soggy and cold but the plate was dangerously hot. The dessert was ok. Then at 9.30pm they started dragging tables and chairs around and we couldn't continue with our conversation because of their noise. We paid up and went home without leaving a tip, of course.

A quaint unusual building. A big menu, but a little confusing, as they advertised an offer outside for early evening, but when we got the bill we were charged the normal prices. This was quickly rectified by another member of staff though when we pointed this out. When my bannofee tart appeared pastry case burnt on top and bottom. I said to the waitress who took it back without an apology. Four of us visited La Caverna on a Sunday evening on the recommendation of our B&B hosts. We'd walked 16 miles and were looking forward to a relaxing dinner. On arrival we were told that most of the menu was unavailable because "deep cleaning" was in progress and the main ovens had been switched off. We were offered pizzas, but for some reason no salads were available. It wasn't particularly late, and the restaurant was fairly quiet; there were at least four staff wandering about doing not very much. Our pizzas took ages to arrive, and three of the four pizzas had various incorrect toppings. In addition, the chicken was processed and unpleasant and two of the pizzas were extra hot, which we hadn't requested. We had to track someone down to settle the bill. Very disappointing.

I ordered the beef stroganoff which was good and my husband ordered the salmon which he thought was good but not enough so was grateful I didn't eat all mine. The waitresses al seemed to be very chatty with themselves to the point of shouting from one end to another. We then decided to order dessert and the menus were plonked in front of us, I ordered apple pie and my husband ordered the chocolate dessert with raspberry ice cream, they arrive and were unceremoniously plonked in front of us and did not even skip a beat. Firstly this is solely my experience and 100% genuine.I have recently been here for a meal.I had a starter of soup of the day ...which was ok but just ok ,I have had worse and wasnt cheap £4.50.Main ,meal was a disaster......I had North Sea Haddock......after waiting for 25 mins for the meal it eventually came ...and it was real disappointment. The portion in my view was too small as was the soup dish too .On a positive note the restaurant is in a prime location on the sea front and very pleasantly decorated with nice waitresses. However the food has let this restaurant down badly.I did speak to other clients who also said they were disappointed.

Finally, a decent restaurant in Moray. Just visited with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed an early evening dinner. Excellent service, greeted with a friendly face and attentive service throughout. An extensive menu with majestic fresh fish choices and huge variety of other treats. Superb cosy atmosphere at a reasonable price. Can't wait to return. Thank you.

Ate there last week, uncomfortable plastic chairs. Husband had seafood pasta which was very good. I chose poached salmon salad. Fish was hot and slapped on top of the most uninspiring salad. Drinks were expensive, for that price I expect better service and more comfort. We won't be back

I visited with my wife, son, elderly aunt and my sons friend and everyone enjoyed their night immensely. I have been put on a very limited diet by the doctor and nothing was too much bother for the staff (one member especially). The menu is extensive and the food delicious really worth a visit. We have a place in Lossie and will be back many times.

I had the chicken fillets.. Came with 'continental salad'= a bit of lettuce on my plate.. Was meant to be a sweet chilli and mayo dip.. I got garlic mayo.. Chicken itself was full of veins.. Very off putting.. The pizza was very tough and hard to cut.. Came away still hungry but never got offered any money off or that.. Paid £24 for food we barely touched..

Food was good and value for money. Service was friendly and efficient. We ate indoors as weather was a bit changeable. The decor and furnishings are good but the tables are set up pretty close together. 2 of us sat at a table for 4 which was fine and the bistro was moderately busy. If it had been very busy then we could have felt a bit under pressure. There are limited spaces with view out of the windows. Good eating place in a nice seafront location with varied menus.

• The newly refurbished La Caverna offers a special Sunday evening menu providing a choice of two main courses and two puddings for £10 50. • My wife selected the chicken dish and I selected the roast beef main dish. • The portions were ample and both were tasty, in fact my roast beef was the best I have tasted. • The service provided was excellent, courteous, friendly and attentive. • We highly recommend the La Caverna for early evening meals.

Just visited here on Saturday and can't fault our meal. Good selection in the menu, with daily specials. Presentation was good and plenty on your plate and also a very reasonable price. 2 x 3 course meal(incl 1 main of steak), 2 alcoholic drinks & a soft drink for just over £60. Staff were very efficient, will definitely be back.

With the family and grandchildren. The meals we all had were the Specials which are great value. The breaded haddock is a better choice than battered. Again the only disappointing is the haphazard service by too many waitresses serving one table. We had to chase our bread with the meals. The other waitress didn't realise we had dessert as part of deal and to top it off no tea or coffee. If they sort out the service The Caverna would be difficult to beat anywhere in NE

We had originally planned to have a bag of chips by the sea but arrived at the chip shop just they were about to close so they refused to serve us. Their loss as we stopped at La Caverna and enjoyed a meal outside in the sun. For September it was still a lovely day and the food and company was excellent.

Visited for lunch, the 35 minute wait understandable at Sunday lunchtime. The food was tasty but expensive for small portions. The one song on repeat for an hour must have driven the staff crazy! It certainly did us.

Went here today after booking a table for 2. Very disappointing.we had cheeseburger onion rings and chunky chips. Burgers came first really greasy and no lettuce and tomatoes as advertised on the menu. Onion rings and French fries came in the middle of us eating the burgerPointed out that we ordered chunky tattie chips,so they took the fries away and we finished our burgers when our chips arrived. Staff was very friendly THE FOOD MEGA LET DOWN

Awesome place with a gigantic choice of scotch whisky as well as a large collection of japanese whisky. This combined with a absolutley cozy atmosphere, delicious food and very very friendly staff makes it a fabulous place to spend the evening. I had the classic haggis balls as a starter, the fish&chips as main and toffee cake as a dessert. Everything was just outstanding. It was so good, we will pay it another visit tonight.

The service was impeccable. There was a particular waiter who was attentive, commonly checked in to see if we were enjoying our food or needed anything. They were always smiling and kind when speaking with us. I am unsure what the waiter’s name was, but it was a man with dark hair and arm tattoos. He should especially receive praise. The food was fabulous and the cocktails were amazing. The staff were accommodating at doing cocktails that weren’t on the menu too, so that was great. Will definitely come back to Elgin purely just to come here again!!!!

We had the best afternoon tea at Threaplands! There was sausage rolls, quiche, a good mix of sandwiches, delicious cakes and copious amounts of tea! All served by friendly, helpful staff. A great experience. We’ll definitely be back!

It's a great place to sit out with the dog and have a meal. I have had good experiences when dining with my partner or friends. Unfortunately, on this one occasion, I was on my own with my dog and unable to go into the restaurant, so I asked a passing member of staff for a menu, which was brought out to me. Unfortunately, I waited 20 minutes for a response to order a meal. A couple sat next to me, kindly looked after my dog while I went to the bar to see why no one had come back to take my order. The reply was " I forgot" 🫣. Oops . I ordered a prawn cocktail with a salad and a piece of crusty bread, as described on the menu. But, what I received was a wee portion of shrimps in a wee dish containing a scrap of lettuce, a tiny wedge of tomato, and a thin slice of cucumber. The best bit was that the crusty bread was a slice of fruit bread. The description and the price did not reflect on the quality and quality of the prawn cocktail. Therefore, I can not give it a 5 star rating.
