La Casita in Eden

I love this place. I live in the North East but come here for work every other month and look forward to the visit so much. Really can’t fault it and it is better than any tapas I’ve ever had in the uk. Every dish is full of flavour, the wine is gorgeous, the atmosphere is authentic and it’s reasonably priced. I said I was going to write more reviews this year as I rely on them myself when visiting new places and this was the first I thought of.

Food was amazing but they tried to overcharge us for a bottle. The overcharged bottle didn’t even exist on the menu.

Fantastic food and excellent service. Couldn’t fault it - the meatballs and cod fritters are outstanding.

A friend and I had a lovely meal here, it was warm and cosy (though very raucous, we had to speak up to hear each other over a couple of loud parties!). The tapas plates we had were delicious (5 out of 6 were excellent, we weren't huge fans of the aubergine dish) and the range of drinks was good. Would absolutely visit again.

Absolutely love this place. I'm lucky enough to visit Penrith regularly on business and always try to call in at La Cacita if I can. Food is great, people are lovely, and beer is cold - what more can you ask for??

Genuinely might be the best tapas I've ever had. So many vegan options (which tend to be rare in a lot of tapas places).

Great Tapas to be had here we've been a couple of times foods always good and at a reasonable price, good service as well.

Absolutely sensational. We tried a few average restaurants around the Lakes before stumbling on this place 2 days before we were due to go home... so we ended up going twice in 2 days and it was the BEST decision!!! 5/5 both times, fantastic with kids, amazing food, great staff, just faultless!!

I made a reservation here on a whim while I was visiting my Dad in the Lake District. To my delight, it turned out to be a wonderful surprise! I can't recommend this place highly enough. The service was exceptional, and I genuinely believe they serve some of the best tapas available in the UK. The sangria was absolutely superb, adding to the overall delightful experience. If you're planning a trip to Penrith or the nearby areas, I wholeheartedly suggest making a stop here. It’s a gem that truly enhances the charm of this beautiful region.

Fabulous menu with many, many gluten and dairy free options. We opted for the vegetarian sharing plate and were not disappointed. Will have to return several more times to sample all the other options, including the ultra-rare vegan and gluten free pudding option of polenta and ground almond cake, which was sadly already sold out when we visited.

We were staying overnight in Penrith on way South and this place was highly recommended with good reviews, so, was really looking forward to our Tapas. We took the special offer and ordered three dishes each. The staff were very busy but were polite and helpful. Unfortunately, two of the dishes. Meatballs and Deep fried aubergines were barely hot on arrival. We double checked with the staff that they should have been hot and it was confirmed they should be. They kindly took them away and 10 mins later two replacements arrived, much to our surprise, they were exactly the same! Tepid warm. We therefore didn’t eat them as it was just too much hassle to ask for hot food twice! Was surprised staff didn’t ask what was up when they took dishes away. Anyway, would suggest this place is worth a try but sadly we won’t be back to give them a chance to make amends. Rest of the food and service was great!

Been going to the here for the past few years and everything is excellent. I would recommend sharing tapas if you’re in a group like we do. The food extremely good and is also quite authentic. The service and atmosphere is also great, would thoroughly recommend.

Had to wait for a table so had a drink in the very pleasant bar area and ordered. When at the table the excelant food came very quickly

Lovely place for dinner! Despite not having a reservation on a Friday, we managed to squeeze in at the bar (just in time, as plenty of walk-ins were turned away after that) and enjoyed a sharing platter of olives, cheese, bread, dates etc and some fantastic specials. Too much choice! Everything looked amazing. Good drinks selection - we had a wine and a cocktail - with pretty good service despite it being very busy. Very affordable in my opinion, and would not hesitate to visit again (with a reservation this time!)

La Casita is a great little tapas bar. Excellent food and lovely staff. Definitely book as it was very busy when we went last Saturday evening. Will definitely go there again if we come back to Penrith in the future.

This restaurant is all sorts of excellent. Some of the best tapas we've had outside of Spain, every dish was inventive and delicious. Service was fab and the price superb. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We had booked an early evening table and were greeted swiftly and nicely by one of the team and shown to our table. Service was very quick and all the food was well presented and very tasty! Service was friendly and the whole experience was very good.

Have just eaten there this evening 21st September, turned up ad hoc without a reservation and the staff were really accommodating and gave us a small table in the bar area which was quite adequate for our needs, the food was excellent and the service equally as good could not fault this restaurant.

Fell across this restaurant by chance and had a lovely tasty evening meal. Definitely give it a go. We were on holiday so don't think we'll be back.

Perfect for a dine out. Great staff from owners to kp. For all those that are saying that the food is "cooked from frozen" ....you are so wrong, the chef and owner also is awake at 7am to start cooking, some off staff are starting at 3pm to help with all/some of the prep. I was working there both in front of house,and in the kitchen, and i can assure you that i never seen a kitchen so clean, and so many dishes cooked with so much attention to perfection. Have been wanting to visit this place for a while and it didn't disappoint, the food was really nice and the look and atmosphere of the restaurant was also really good, we received excellent service and will definitely be back

Lovely little gem in a quiet street off the main thoroughfare. Warm friendly welcome as we entered and we were shown to our table straight away. Great atmosphere, unpretentious but authentic surroundings and decor, very efficient and super friendly staff. We ordered a starter to share and 4 tapas dishes between the two of us, which was plenty, and were not only very flavoursome but beautifully presented. Great range of desserts, many of which were gluten free. Best churros ever, even better than those in Spain! They were so light, melt in the mouth, and not at all greasy, served with a hot dark chocolate sauce. All in all a great evening.

We went tonight for my birthday and had a lovely evening with excellent food. Everything was so tasty! Thank you.

A real gem !!!! I travel to Penrith from London every 3-4 months , I work for a Spanish company based in Barcelona. I can honestly say this is the best authentic Tapas iv eaten in the Uk. It reminds me of my trips over to head office where I will regularly enjoy Tapas Muy Bien

My wife and I ordered 2 soft drinks, 6 tapas dishes, and a pudding each, bill came to £66. Atmosphere was great, really clean restaurant, nice Spanish decor but not cheesy, front of house staff were friendly, attentive but not annoying, spot on. Tables were spaced with lots of room. Star of the show: the food. From traditional salt cod fritters, to the rolled lamb breast stuffed with anchovies, to the churros pudding, every dish did not disappoint, we are both fairly critical diners as like to cook at home, and although not amazing cooks by any means, can usually find simple faults with most dishes, however at La Casita we left feeling really satisfied, so much so we booked to come again in another 5 nights into our weeks stay in Penrith. Recommended is the Plaice fillet, Pork Belly, baked cheesecake and churros. But the menu is extensive with probably 40 tapas dishes, if the others are as good as the 6 we had then you'll definitely find something to like.

Beautiful building, decor & atmospher , we felt like we were on holiday in Spain! Service was lacklustre (despite restaurant not being full), however food & wine (when they eventually arrived) were excellent. Great value too. Would definitely recommend & go back.

My food was nice but not quite to my taste, my partner really liked his food though! Can't fault the service, really nice staff and nice atmosphere other than a whining kid all throughout our meal but that's not the restaurants fault!

Great deal on 4 tapas dishes for 20 odd quid not every night though.

The food was incredible, not one bad dish among the 6 we shared. Only visiting here a few days and plan to go back again it was so good. Have had tapas in many places and this is up there with the best.

Well presented food selection from the tapas menu though the cod fritters were more or a fish cake ball and not just a battered piece of fish, reasonably priced dishes and as we ordered 9 they were served in 2 parts. Unfortunately the sangria was a letdown tasted of cheap red wine that had been put together with a few pieces of fruit, at £20 for a litre this should be much better. Unsure why the cakes were topped with a macaroon as surely this is a French fancy and not Spanish. With just one more niggle we had booked our table well in advance and were seated in the front section of the restaurant next to the doorway to the back room which did contain a table for 2 that was given to a “walk-in” after we had arrived, please keep your better table for those who take the time to book. Overall an enjoyable meal, would I return probably not.

Excellent food. We had the 4 tapas special and then decided to do the vegetarian share platter and an order of Serrano ham. Every item was tasty. Would recommend starting with one of the sharing platters. There were so many excellent components and we would have needed fewer tapas dishes. Highly recommended. The dishes were comparable to excellent tapas in Spain. Sorry I didn’t take photos because the dishes all looked very inviting (actually better than the ones that have been posted 😊)

Three of us went to La Casita after a leg of the Lands End to John O Groats cycle. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was home cooked, authentic and delicious! Made with love and care. Absolute gem and really good value. We were so sad that we couldn't add a tip onto our card payment and had no cash. Remember to take cash cos you will want to tip!! Fantastic place.

What a find. Wonderful food, fabulous people, great wine, fab atmosphere. We had the vegan tapas and the ox cheek (I know, strange bedfellows) and both were sublime. The house wines were lovely as was the Rosé. Lovely people and attentive service. Really great value. £45 for a meal for two, one pudding and two wines. Amazing place.

La Casita is popular on Saturday nights and we were limited to securing a table at half past five. The food menu is very extensive and we enjoyed our meal very much. As I was the one footing the bill in delighted to say that there were no nasty surprises.

The food is excellent, authentic Spanish tapas. We were met at the door, and quickly shown to our table, and the service was good until we had finished our main course, when we seemed to have fallen off the list of tables requiring attention. We had to wait nearly half an hour, when I approached the bar to request more drinks. I was told to sit back down and the drinks would be delivered to the table. Twenty minutes later they had not arrived, and I approached the bar again to chivvy them along. They apologised, and the drinks were brought over, along with the menus for the sweets. From then on normal service resumed. My main gripe is the noise, the dining area we were in could do with some baffles, curtains or carpets to soak up the background noise, we could barely hear our conversation across the table. I would go again, and highly recommend the place to those who love tapas.

Fabulous find in Penrith. Clams amazing as was the squid, chicken, meatballs and pardon peppers. Almond cake and date cake also yummy! Nearly a five but the aubergine balls in polenta were far too dry and felt “stale” and the salmon fish cakes needed a good dose of salt! Minor issues in an otherwise gorgeous meal. Thank you!!

The homemade desserts are unbelievably good. The elderflower pear and baked cheesecake are completely out of this world, our entire group was blown away. Huge compliments to the chef and team, do not skip dessert when you try La Casita!

What a fantastic find. Great location, a very authentic refurb, sympathetic painted stone walls featured by timber structures and enhanced by wooden furniture. Menu choices fantastic, tapas options a particular value for money option and taste extravaganza. All topped with amazing, attentive and very professional team, front of house and beavering away behind the scenes. Highly recommended for any time planned in Penrith.

If you like Spanish food and enjoy sharing small plates of food, you can’t go far wrong than booking a meal here in La Casita. Very reasonably priced and excellent quality - you can’t go wrong.

We’re staying a few miles outside Penrith whilst on a short break. Mrs F spotted tapas nearby so we had to try it. Well, what a find. As good as we’ve had when in Spain. Every dish was superb. We took advantage of the midweek tapas offer and polished off a cheeky nine dishes between us with honourable repeats to the croquetas and calamari. My personal favourite was the albondigas. Excellent choice of desserts and for us it was the almond cake! Our only disappointment is that we live five and a half hours away in Somerset. However when we’re next back in the area we’ll be coming back. Excellent place for couples or groups, lovely friendly staff. So pleased we found you. J and C

A hidden gem in Penrith. Great choice of authentic tapas. We visited on a Thursday night, group of 8. A varied menu with something for everyone including sharing boards & specials. Well worth a visit.

Came here Thursday the 28th for tapas, I had the ox cheek and chorizo that was fairly good and my partner being vegetarian went for the broccoli, aubergine and cauliflower dishes and we shared the patatas bravas. Very dissapointing, the cauliflower was very hard and the other dishes basic. She wasn't pleased with her food so we paid the bill and left. Disappointing as the reviews are good but the food was just okay, a few tables had all their food before us even though we'd ordered before so half of it was cold by the time we ate it all together.

Was met with a huge smile from the bartender who got us quickly shown to our seat (I recommend booking). The choices were unbelievable and even though we were told they recommended six plates for two people, we ignored our server and completely over ordered. HOWEVER, they boxed up all our untouched items and we will now be eating their delicious food for days to come. The dates, stuffed with goats cheese and wrapped in Spanish ham were unreal. And I'll dream about them for the rest of my life. Service was wonderful, and the vibe was great. Best tapas I've had outside of Europe. The decor felt very authentic and classy. Thank you so much for having us, we will be telling everyone about our experience!!

Very glad we relied on the TripAdvisor reviews, all round excellence on food quality, presentation and service. Great surroundings and a warm atmosphere, we were transported back to the Mediterranean on a chilly evening in March!

Booked a table for 5.30pm and had a delicious meal. Five of us including my Mum who's 92. We chose 8 different Tapas, something to suit everyone, pan tomat, 4 deserts, a coffee and drinks. Excellent value at £107. Can't wait to return.

Lovely food at a very reasonable price. It's hard to find a fairly authentic tapas place these days in the UK, but La Casita is up there for sure. The braised ox cheek was to die for!

Great selection of food. We ordered a number of dishes between the four of us and all dishes were well cooked and very tasty.

We visited on a Wednesday evening for a meal while staying at centre parcs and were really impressed. The food was incredible. We ordered tapas and deserts. It was hard to choose as so much of the menu sounded delicious and there were a lot of options that I'd not seen elsewhere. All of our dishes were beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and had really well balanced flavours. FOf our 7 tapas dishes, we'd say the majority were 10/10, and none less than 8/10. This included specials as well as favourites like papas bravas which are something I always enjoy but rarely find to be exciting. The puddings were fantastic too - it felt unusual to have somewhere that did both savoury and sweet so well. Best churros I've ever had - nothing like the dry flavourless tubes you sometimes get! The staff were helpful and friendly and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere despite it being midweek. Our bill came to £75 (excluding tip, 7 tapas, 3 puddings, only one of our drinks was alcoholic) for two people which felt very good value for the quality. If we hadn't got reservations elsewhere for the rest of our trip we would have happily returned the next evening as there were lots more dishes we would have loved to try!

We got the 4 small plates for £22.50 deal during the week. Lots of gluten free options that are also diary free. Each small plate we got was tasty, however the stuff wrapped chicken was underwhelming and a bit bland. Some of the tomato sauce was a bit spicy.

Booked a table via email for a busy Saturday night. We ordered a garlic tomato bread to share which was delicious! We each got 3 different tapas dishes. All were tasty and well presented. The food arrived quickly. In and out within an hour.

The restaurant was full when we arrived until we left but this did not affect the level of service. Worth a mention, the food was served in great time and was perfection personified. Vamos.

A cracking little place! A tariff just off the main road! We went for our staff party and had the party menu that went down a treat. Everyone needs to try some great food and tasty cocktails!

Food was good. We arrived after the 5.00pm opening time but were told they were opening later, a bit after 5.30. Very cold night so as visitors to Penrith we had to look for a nearby pub while we waited. Food was good and service friendly. Many tables were booked even at 6.00pm on a week day.

Even though we've been to Spain a zillion times ...never been a fan of tapas I'm now a convert ...I got the special 4 dishes and every one was absolutely delicious
