We've eaten tapas at La Casa twice this week. A wonderfully warm welcome, lots of extra touches and delicious authentic Spanish tapas. The lovely owners are from La Mancha and you can sample produce from their own cooperative. The delicatessan store next to the Tapas Bar stocks fabulous produce. All in the wonderful surroundings of the Grainger Market. Highly recommended!

Located in the Grainger market, La Casa Delicatessen is a really great authentic Spanish tapas bar venue. We dived into some really great tapas ranging from patatas bravas to fish bites, succulent meatballs and fluffy bread with tasty oils and yummy tomato based dipping sauces (AND MUCH MORE) which all tasted amazing! Washed down with a fantastic recommendation of house white wine. ... and then came the churros ! Seriously the best churros I’ve ever had!

We had lunch here during a short break in Newcastle. We had Jamon Serrano and Spanish Omelette sandwiches which come with a few homemade chips - it was all really tasty. Good selection of beer & wine too. It’s run by a friendly Spanish family & definitely somewhere we’d go back to.

A very nicely stocked and run Spanish food deli in the cente of Newcastle. The place is quite small within the Newcastle market, run by a family who are really putting their hearts in what they do. Patrons are assured a personal touch, hearty service and very nice Spanish items.

We loved Grainger market when we visited Newcastle and being fans of Spanish tapas, we decided to have lunch here one day. We really enjoyed some lovely hot, crispy, chorizo things followed by a superb cheese and ham sharing board which was packed with lots of tasty treats, all washed down with lovely Spanish wine. Well worth a visit.

A small little deli/bar/cafe which is owned and ran by a Spanish family. The food is excellent, service in a good way is a bit ’hit & miss’ but all the better for it. It sells Spanish produce from the store and not sure if serving food was an afterthought as they don’t employ super sharp front of house staff, it’s even better, what you see is what you get. A great selection of starters & tapas on the menu, you select, the owner takes your order & then serves you, Ha Ha bloody brilliant. Set in the old market which again isn’t cutting edge but I love it & atmosphere is relaxed. Oh and it sells fine wine!! Cool little venue.

We popped into town and I had heard the food in the Grainger market had greatly improved over the years. We were lucky to get a table here and really enjoyed our lunch. Chilled atmosphere and yummy food. Worth booking a table to avoid disappointment. Will return when shopping in town

Came here as part of a food tour and was most impressed to find such a lovely Tapas Bar inside Grainger Market, we had some lovely Parma ham with Spanish cheese and deep fried blue cheese balls on a garlic aioli crouton, and some really nice wine.

We have wanted to go here for some time but due to it being in the Grainger market having limited opening hours we struggled to work around it but we got there evntually, this is a quaint traditional looking Spanish place with great little deli supplying some great Spanish foods and wines to buy off the shelf. We started with a big sharing platter of cheese, meats, fruit and nuts, very nice but all down hill from there Im afraid, every tapas dish was really poor, not very well cooked or massively overcooked and some of the dishes were sort of dumped on the table as the guy was passing wihtout any comment, never ever seen Potatas bravas like it, really burnt with some sort of plastic tasting sauce poured over it, we couldnt eat it and the staff didnt appear to be surprised at all about it! the Scallops were totally ruined, they looked like black whelks and tasted like over stewed cockles with the same texture ,avoid the salted broad beans..it doesnt state that they are not fresh and obviously came straight from a packet all dried litterally like a little bowl of rock hard salted nuts, the young waitress was attentive and pleasant, the wine was good, but the food definitely not, its a shame as we wouldve been regulars if the food was nice, take your time in the kitchen the people will wait if the food is good, but they won't return if it is poor.

2nd visit today and the food was no less than amazing, we had the 4 tapas special between 3 and there was more than enough to fill us. I had a glass of the Yogo merlot which is the wine from the village of the owners ( buy a bottle to take home) all in all this is the best tapas in Newcastle and a great place to eat if you can get a seat.

We had a family meal at cook house yesterday and the service was lovely and friendly, what food we had was nice. But the price was ridiculous for the serving size. An £12 chicken salad was a plate of lettuce with about four shreds of chicken (not even half a breast) and a drizzle of dressing. The small plates are hugely overpriced for the size. £12 for a slice of focaccia and a few mushrooms, £9 for a small slice of bitter cheesecake. While staff were lovely and there’s a nice atmosphere it’s definitely more about being a bit pretentious than value for money!
