Great food, great service, not too pricey either. Totally unassuming spot.

We had such high expectations from reading reviews and the fantastic menu. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the quality of the food ; scallops were ruined with an orange juice sauce and ultimately gave me food poisoning for the next few days following. The steak was sat in a pool of oily fat, had to pay extra for chips and sides. The food came out extremely quickly and the staff made it obvious they wanted to clear the tables as quick as possible.

Not quite sure how this restaurant has scored so highly in previous reviews. The restaurant looks nice and the staff are friendly enough but the service was average and the food was definitely below average. Considering what they charge, the food wasn’t freshly prepared as it arrived far too quickly and gave two of our party food poisoning. The deserts were described as “homemade” but looked and tasted like they were from Iceland! (The shop, not the country) Won’t be going back.

Beautiful restaurant with amazing food. Worth walking off the main road for. Great lunch menu that is extremely well priced but a la cart menu also affordable and delicious. Next time I'm back in Marlow, I'll be returning here for lunch or dinner.

Absolutely lovely service was excellent Inesh was humble polite customer service was extremely refreshing both from Mario's and Inesh food was very good also Me being a very very fussy eater this was not disappointed lobster soup starter was oolala roast lamb dinner was also very tasty for me I just needed a little bit more veg but I would recommend here atmosphere nice cosy nice music not loud at all the would recommend herefir couples also

We visited for the first time to celebrate my husband's birthday. The outside and inside were very nice and welcoming. It was very busy inside so our expectations were high. Sadly the service and food was average. We did not think that enough attention was given and there was no personal touch to a service. Food was average and overpriced for what we have received. We won't be back. It's a real shame.

This is a must try place if you are anywhere near Marlow. The market menu has plenty of choice, and is great value, the quility of the food and wine is top notch. When we are back that way we will revisit.

My wife and I revisited the restaurant yesterday as an unplanned lunch, but having visited previously for dinner some time ago we wanted to refresh our relationship with the venue. It was after 2 pm but we were delighted that they were still serving lunch until 4 pm, so entered. The restaurant was busy, always a good sign especially at lunch time, the venue has a lot of atmosphere and the staff immediately make you feel welcome. The lunch time menu is amazingly good value with lots of choices plus several specials on offer. My wife started with steamed mussels in white wine whilst I opted for crawfish with avocado. Both were tasty, fulfilling and exceeded expectations. My wife had lasagne for her mains whilst I went for escalope of pork in a creamy mushroom sauce with vegetables, one of my favourites Italian dishes. The portions were large, cooked to perfection and delicious. By now we were both too full for desert though the choice was amazing. The staff are warm and friendly and the overall bill was amazingly cheap in this day and age. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and we are already planning our next visit in 2025!

Christmas lunch was amazing but lacked atmosphere

After being turned down by five of my regular restaurants both in London and Buckinghamshire with the dismissive phrase "fully booked" this restaurant kindly fit the two of us in at the last minute after we promised not to stay too long as the table was booked for a later party. I had the liver which was the best I have ever eaten in any restaurant anywhere in the world and I am in my 70's. Our piping hot minestrone soup chock full of delicately sliced veggies nestled in a delicious broth was a work of perfection that puts most London restaurants to shame. Service was both speedy and friendly. When we left at 8 pm the restaurant was packed with holiday celebrants. What a meal which I will never forget and what a very kind and gracious establishment.

Took my Wife for lunch for her birthday, we both agreed it was the best Italian food we have had, in England, as we go to Sorrento on a regular basis so bit spoiled there obviously, thank the chef and staff for a great lunch as we were leaving, we definitely go back. Maybe for my birthday in January 👍

Had our Company Christmas dinner here last night, great food, great service. If i lived nearby this would be my go to restaurant every time.

As a group of 7 ladies, we were looking forward to the 2 course Xmas lunch menu . It was busy but we arrived before other tables in our area. Service was abysmal- we kept trying to get their attention. Food was rather frugal. A fairly small oval bowl of vegetables which were not very hot and rather underdone. Everyone was taking 1 Brussel sprout and as little as possible. I eventually managed to get another bowl. The roast potatoes also a meagre portion, were just cubes of potato which were nothing like a roast potato and lack lustre. I ordered the Christmas dinner. The turkey seemed to me to be catering quality - definitely processed into two large rounds of meat. The stuffing was soggy and very processed. Overall, a very bland experience.

Disappointing - food was okay but not great. Brutus across the street is better if you want Italian in Marlow.

The staff were not friendly, we have been to this restaurant sever times and previously enjoyed the food menu has changed. Food not as good or tasty, I will not be returning. We spent near£300 pounds for the four of us.

To celebrate my arrival in London 33 years, we decided to go to this pretty Italian restaurant in beautiful Marlow.The lunch set menu is very good value, the waitress is friendly and efficient, the food cooked for perfectly. We Will come back soon.

A table of 5 who all agreed the food was very good. It was a busy evening and the service was stretched, but still good. Good drinks options, and the specials menu was really impressive. Well worth a visit.

Eating out is generally expensive these days. But portions are good size here and I'd suggest that side dishes are good to share. Food byQuality is good and drink options too.

Chef Paulo enchanted us with his exquisite grilled lobster, majestic king prawns, and succulent scallops; it was sheer perfection! Every bite screamed, "Paulo's a kitchen wizard!" His culinary magic paired perfectly with the restaurant's cozy vibe—think warm lights, snug decor, and our superstar server, Marius, who made us feel like VIPs. As we gobbled down our feast, the cheerful chatter of fellow foodies filled the air, all just as thrilled with their dishes as we were with ours. It was a night of mouthwatering memories that’ll linger long after the last crumb, TOP TOP! Huge thanks!

A little quiet on a Wednesday evening but lovely attentive staff and super food

Superb Italian food at this restaurant. I had Carbonarra as a main and possibly the best I’ve ever had. My wife had monkfish wrapped in bacon. An excellent house red to accompany. Very good desert menu. Restaurant was full but service was exemplary. If I lived in Marlow, I would be coming here frequently.

I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience at La Cantina. We were not rushed and the food represented the best value I think I have ever had at a restaurant. The lunch menu is excellent value and the pictures do not do it justice. There are even "specials" which are included in the lunchtime deal of £24. Yesterday I had skate with capers and I have never seen such a large portion of ham and melon and the puds were also great. Fantastic value for money.

This is a good restaurant serving traditional Italian dishes. If Italian food is your thing then you’ll be happy here. The service was friendly and efficient. There are some outside tables but probably best to book if you want to be sure of getting one. There is plenty of seating inside.

Frankly, I was shocked by the restaurant and the waiter’s treatment we had was substandard, but the employee was friendly and smiling. The dishes were also substandard, and the presentation was very ordinary. Disappointing. I ordered shrimp and it was not cleaned well at all, and this affects the flavor.

Love this place, great service, and deliciously cooked food; pork chops, octopus, grilled liver, and almond tart have all been excellent both times.

My birthday lunch and we had an excellent meal as usual at La Cantina. Roast lamb was a treat. The staff were a bit unfriendly initially as it was mostly couples in for Sunday lunch and we were a louder group. This did annoy me slightly at the time, but they did improve.

I love my tapas (grew up on it) and eat out all the time. Finally a Spanish restaurant! ….. Not!! No offer of drinks was the first oddity!Ordered the Mules and Calamaris. Unusual flavor but okay, just small Tesco style muscles and squid too. Still no offer of drinks! Seems staff were just fixated on their mobile phone to even notice that we didn’t even have drinks. Finally I was offered a coffee. So I went for an expresso. This was dreadful. Was about a tablespoon of coffee in the bottom of an espresso mug. Barely any water in, that it was thick like syrup. No idea! We thought we’d best skip drinks and go over road for a drink. Upon asking for the bill, they had the audacity to charge 3.50 for a teaspoon of coffee and tried to hide an extra 12.5% extra for a tip!!!! What! Is this no longer my option. So if they do this they no longer have to make a special effort to please the customers. Nice Decor but food is nothing spectacular I’m afraid. Just another place that opened for its greed of Marlow money, with no respect for the customers enjoyment.

Nice venue, super service, and consistently good food. One of the best restaurants in Marlow and very popular as a result. The lunch menu is very good value. I have visited at least 10 times in the last year and never been disappointed. Other venues struggle with service. This place never does.

The food was good but not unique. I'm not impressed with a string of specials being recited at the table without being able to read them....it means you don't know the price before choosing which is wrong. You need to know a main is £30 before ordering. A meal for 4 at over £200 without alcohol is, even nowadays, expensive.

Best tiramisu anywhere. I even get it to go when my partner goes there!!

7 of us from 3 different countries enjoyed a delicious meal...excellent portions, great variety for all .... certainly not the usual 'pasta only' menu. The staff are lovely, friendly and efficient. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Very pleasant Italian restaurant. It is located in the corner of an alley with a terrace in front. The menu is not too extensive, but with a very nice and varied selection. Both fish and meat (and of course also a number of dishes with pasta). We had (starter and main course) the medallion with peppercorn, the prawns, the fettuccine, and the risotto. All with some (paying) side dishes. The presentation was a bit ordinary, but it was really nicely prepared, without being really top-notch. On the other hand, I love this honest kitchen, which is also good value for money. We ate there (business dinner) in the evening, but I think it is still quite pleasant on the terrace during the day. If you are in the area, definitely consider this restaurant.

Fantastic little Italian tucked just out of sight of Marlow high street - definitely worth a visit for a nice meal out

Food was lovely, however quite small portion sizes for the cost. Staff were very polite and friendly. Ordered 2 diet cokes for £7 which I would say is probably average cost these days, but cokes were very small, so we made them last throughout the 3 courses we had. The tirimasu was really good and probably the highlight of the evening. Nice enough, but had better Italian food elsewhere.

Booked a family lunch on Sunday 17th Sept. for 15 people. It was a day of unpredictable weather and the restaurant was not that busy apart from this booking. The service was good with ample time for people to settle after the initial drinks were served. People were allowed time to mull over the menu and eventually orders placed. Food was served up at similar time with nobody having to wait long for their dish. Vegetables served up in bowls for people to serve themselves. All food was good, with a large sea bass easily enough for 3 people. In our case as long as coffees were ordered we were allowed to bring in a cake as we had left it too late to order from the restaurant. Some desserts were ordered nonetheless. Wine was good and everyone had an enjoyable time. Would recommend the restaurant.

Dinner with friends at 8pm and rushed out by 10! Done with this place now! Gave a second chance after this happened before. They took ages to take our order and every course felt rushed and then we felt uncomfortable finishing our wine at 10pm! Abruptly told ‘we are closed’ despite us asking if we could finish our wine as lifts arriving at 10.30. Yes you are closed! Miserable attitudes and won’t ever recommend or visit again!

It was a nice place. The food was good, the service was excellent. The prices are premium so be mindful of that but no complaints and will visit again if I was in the area.

Excellent food and a welcomed escape from the run of the mill Italian names chains. Goats cheese salad was delicious as was the tapas (it was a Sunday menu) followed by an fantastic paella. Even the espresso was great! Highly recommended. By the way the steaks on display will warrant a second visit soon!

Nice friendly waitresses serving very ordinary food - the sauce on the two dishes we had tasted identical. And had a jelly like consistency - it definitely tasted like it had come from a packet (even if it hadn’t) . £117 for two with one drink each - no wine or dessert

I’ve never been in such a lovely place. Great food, nice people. A beautiful restaurant that once was a barn and kept alive the simplicity of the wooden structure. I was there for a wedding party and the crew was patient and nice. Bravi tutti!

A hidden gem! The most authentic Italian food we’ve had outside Italy. I’m gluten free and I was able to pick almost anything off the menu! We had 3 courses each and every single mouthful was a delight. Well worth a visit for anyone looking for the opportunity to eat the finest fresh meat or fish that’s prepared and cooked authentically.

Previously reserved table yet seated next to kitchen exit. Chicken overdone and curled up. Veg hardly cooked, service impression, they couldnt wait to get rid of us. Hoovering near table to collect plates. Left before finished. Felt unwelcome and uncomfortable.

Nice family run Italian, but seriously limited menu and very expensive. Nothing at all vegetarian for the mains, unless pescatarian, and no pasta dishes. We were five people having dinner on a Thursday evening with a starter, main, pudding and one drink each and it came to £270. The puddings were nice, but nothing else stood out. Won't bother going back.

We wanted a simple but great quality meal,we got it. We wanted good Italian wine we got it. It’s not trying to be anything other than Italian restaurant in Marlow. We were a party of 6 adults we had 3 courses, inc lobster linguine , rib of beef and beautiful calfs liver. A good drink, before and after dinner!! £400 so all in all will definitely go back.

Starters were nice, but we ordered 4 different mains, and they all came with peas, carrots and square chips, very similar to those in the pub. Didn't realize that Italian and British food was so similar.

Went here for dinner recently while visiting Marlow. The ambience and setting are lovely, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is tasty and good quality. The house wine is very good also.However, be careful if you order the specials that are on offer as they appear to be very overpriced compared to the a la carte menu, and the price wasn't revealed to you until the bill. Specials are more than a third more expensive and half the size, even for the vegetarian ones, so do check before you order. Covid safety didn't seem to be fully operating - we sat right next to another table (easily within 1 m or less), menus were fabric covered and not sanitised, and no T&T check in was offered.Would return as the food was good and the setting and staff were very good, but check the prices before ordering!
