La Cabana in Canterbury

Great place downtown old Canterbury it was wonderful the food was great we all liked it very nice. I had the Cabana burger and it was wonderful

We came here as the place looks beautiful from the outside.. and that’s where it stops. The food is frozen from the local supermarket, too salty, overpriced, and takes an age to appear. Items on the plate were missing, and things were most definitely microwaved! Paid £15 for a pizza - I’ve had better pizzas from Asda’s frozen section, it was burnt on top and soggy on the bottom! The condiments were from Aldi, not what you expect to see when you’re paying £20+ per meal. DO NOT get the fish and chips, the fish is cheap frozen stuff (also probably from aldis freezer) and had hard bits throughout, totally inedible. The chicken shish was okay but came incomplete and there was only 3 small chunks of chicken, we all left hungry ! The salmon was also the cheap stuff with rock hard microwaved vegetables, all you could taste was salt! It was disgusting! We were super let down by the food and will never, ever return. Absolutely awful food at ridiculous prices. Avoid at all costs, and do not waste your money!

Just been back today after 1 year or so and the experience was awful. The chicken shish was alright ish..The Meatballs soup was good(not like i knew it...maybe it's a reinterpretation of the real deal). The Papanași(or draculas heart how's called in the meniu)it's not even 10% of what it was supposed to be done(I never eaten one that had no cheese in the making).That sweet is something that Romanian people are proud of it everywhere in Romania,but to be honest not at this restaurant.I don't say nothing about the price because its in the center ish of the town so it's alright for the position, but like I have said in my first review it needs to be Romanian authentic taste not reinterpretation of something good.

We booked for Saturday early evening .... had lovely host and food. Highly recommend the grilled options, the home made burgers. Also try the cherry brandy and local Dracula wines

Everything was just perfect , perfect! Highly recommended! The staff are extremely lovely and make great recommendations. Restaurant has such a cozy and charming atmosphere.

We went to La Cabana for a birthday mesl and we haven't been disappointed. The food was great, the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Will absolutely go back! Wholeheartedly recommended!

Sehr schönes stylisches Restaurant. Wir hatten Appetit auf Fish and Chips- das ist ganz und gar kein rumänisches Gericht, aber es stand auf der Speisekarte und war sehr preiswert. Nach ca. 15 Minuten Wartezeit kamen die liebevoll arrangierten Teller, randvoll mit Chips, Eisbergsalat und Fisch in sehr krosser Panade, dazu in einer kleinen Schale ein äußerst leckerer Knoblauchdip. Es wurde auch ein Tablett mit zusätzlichen verschiedenen Saucen dazugestellt, falls der Dip nicht passen sollte. Die Chips waren auf den Punkt frittiert und perfekt gewürzt. Ich habe auf meinen Reisen nach England noch nie so gute Fish and Chips gegessen! Vielen Dank an die Küche und an den freundlichen Service!

Lovely meal and shown Romanian specialities on the menu. We ordered Romanian dishes. Good service, lovely food and not too expensive. They also dealt properly with my wife’s allergies. The inside of the restaurant was beautiful with plenty of old beams and charm. My only concern was for reasons that I don’t understand is that the place was nearly empty on a Friday evening. It should have been bustling but wasn’t. If it were then the atmosphere would have been great. Would definitely return but lack of other diners did detract from the atmosphere and must be of concern to the owners. Cannot understand why. Despite that highly recommended.

Great food in an amazing location close to the Canterbury Cathedral. The restaurant is a fusion between classic dishes (you can find pizza, pasta, burgers) and Romanian cuisine. Romanian cuisine focuses on good meat and good quality ingredients, if you want to try some authentic dishes I would recommend the smoked aubergine salad, mititei and for dessert the Dracula's heart (actually called papanași, freshly made in the kitchen, the waiting is worthwhile). The service is very friendly and helpful and the restaurant looks amazing!

We knew this place as the ex Korean cowgirl and entered the restaurant which was so hit and the air con was off. The gentleman greeted us and we went to our table by the front door for my daughter’s birthday and what a disaster. My chicken sish was dry and was suppose to come with chip lettuce and tomatoes with garlic sauce. Last three items didn’t make it so i asked for then. One the the guests asked for sea bass and again the plate was incomplete and we told the lady who took her plate never to be returned. My wife’s squid was cold , the salad she requested which was big turned up small and my daughter cabbage rolls and polenta was out of cruffs! Although they did give us discount to be honest it’s not a great experience. The chef needs to read the menu and follow it. Drinks took a long time too and we could have got them from the pub next door which would have been quicker. At the end of the one person was still waiting on chips for her sea bass that was taken away and it never came back. Bad experience unfortunately

I had Chicken Mushroom, £14, La Cabana Wrap, £12 and Salmon & Avocado Bruschetta, £5. NEVER VISITING AGAIN. NEVER. It was my first time visiting the restaurant and I was looking forward to it since I was quite hungry. I ordered the Chicken Mushroom, which was… well as my Romanian friend described as, “CAT VOMIT” ON A PLATE. It was DISGUSTING, TASTELESS, BORING, AND OVERPRICED. I told the waitress that I DID NOT LIKE THE TASTE OF THE FOOD; she took my food away and said that I’d still be charged for it. To avoid causing any drama, I ordered the La Cabana Wrap. How difficult can it possibly be to make a tasty wrap right? IT WAS VERY SALTY, DRY AND UNLIKEABLE. I also had Salmon & Avocado Bruschetta, £5, which was nothing special and had 2 pieces of grilled bread. I HAVE MANY ROMANIAN FRIENDS AND EVEN THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECOGNISE THIS AS AUTHENTIC ROMANIAN FOOD. MY HOMEMADE MEALS, DON’T HAVE HALF AS MANY DISAPPOINTMENTS AS THE FOOD AT La Cabana. DO BETTER. WITH MY DRINK, I PAID £40+ FOR THIS UNFULFILLING EXPERIENCE

Unusual food in this Romanian restaurant. Staff friendly, decor very nice and excellent quiet location with outside seating (if possible in this English Summer!).

This spot is casual for a night out, I m so happy I found it, it has food from breakfast to deserts and very good wine. We had try they’re meat rolls, witch are amazing, lamb pastrami, stuffed cabbage and their desert.

A beautiful quaint restaurant, with great service, the staff are very helpful and friendly. A great variety of dishes from pizza, pasta, steak and the more traditional Romanian dishes. I plumped for the lamb pastrami and boy was I glad I did, the most juicy succulent and tasty lamb I have ever tasted. Even the wife’s tripe soup starter was delicious, and it’s not something I ever thought I’d try. Great value for money, ambience lovely and fantastic food and staff. I’d love this place to get busier but selfishly I want to always be able to just call in. Definitely our new favourite restaurant in Canterbury 😊

Really cosy, friendly restaurant, with traditional Romanian food. We had the sharing meat platter which was really tasty, the traditional deserts were lovely too😀

Service was good but the food was basic. Small venue with not much atmosphere. If you’re a couple you end up sharing with others because apparently the tables are too heavy to move. Don’t get me wrong it was cheap, guess you get what you pay for.

The food was very good, with service that was friendly and excellent. I would definitely eat there again.

We’ve been 3 times now, food is really good, atmosphere just right, service is first class with warmth and a smile. Will be going back soon to try more of the menu
