La Bonne Auberge in Glasgow City

The food could have been warmer. The chicken schnitzel was overcooked, to brown and disguised by cheese. The fries were good and hot.

Arrived at 5.40 pm for pre theatre dinner. Starters arrived after a bit of a wait but at 7 pm we had to ask if mains would be long. Had to rush food and run to the theatre. It wasn't even busy at the time. When looking around it appeared that no one had any food. Pre theatre means we are going to the theatre! Food was mediocre.

Ce fût vraiment une très bonne découverte c'est le restaurant de l'Hôtel Holliday Inn. Attention contrairement à son nom il ne sert pas de plats Français mais la maitrise à la française est là. Les plats sont anglais mais par contre ils sont excellents et ce fût vraiment une très bonne surprise . Cela nous a réconcilié avec la nourriture anglaise qui peut être très bonne quand le chef maitrise sont sujet même la pâtisserie était excellente (tarte et pudding). Produits frais et de qualité. Du coup on y retourné 2 fois de suite. La carte est limitée mais cela est plutôt bien du coup puisque on n'est pas déçût et ils sont vraiment préparer à la demande (d'où le délais d'attente en conséquence). De même contrairement à certains restaurants dans la ville le rapport qualité prix y est excellent tous les plats de résistance sont à £18. Merci à l'équipe

We had a voucher for 6 small plates and a bottle of wine. I had requested a booth if available which was granted. Thank you. Our lovely waiter, sorry I don't have a name, (young with a beard finishing at 4 on Sunday) brought us water for the table and took our wine order. After bringing and pouring our wine he took our food order for small plates. The food arrived after a short while and it was delicious. Everything we ordered was fresh and very tasty. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and we will return to try the main menu soon. Again another mention for our waiter who was friendly and professional. Little things like asking if we wanted to taste the wine and remembering to bring mayonnaise when requested even although he was dealing with other tables. Thank you!

Although a short wait for food iit was extremely worthwhile. Delicious food and friendly staff. Rey pleased to be given a discount because of the delay with our starters. Totally unexpected

We bought itison vouchers for afternoon tea with a glass of Prosecco. Love an afternoon tea and been to many however this was one of THE best I’ve tasted. Scones were still warm inside. We ended up staying there for the rest of the day and evening with Prosecco x 3 🍾🍾🍾 ! Will be back again in future! 👏

Had a great overnight stay at the holiday Inn with breakfast at the Auberge which was really good great selection and friendly helpful staff.

Ill start with the best thing ... the Christmas wreath decorations were lovely and the staff were pleasant enough but required further training. The restaurant was cold and the food terrible. I returned a Burrata as it was most definitely off and tasted fizzy. This in my opinion is the ultimate no no for any restaurant. No apology or explanation given. by the waiter The rest of the food was bland and poor quality.. Wouldn't recommend La Bonne Auberge, Glasgow has a wealth of quality restaurants to choose from.

First time back to what was a regular breakfast/dinner and bar for pre covid times. The bar area is now sparse and like a waiting room with full lights on and one selection of on tap beers which were a poor choice. No cider on rap and removed st mango’s glasgows brew. Service from staff was pleasant but they were short staffed - can’t blame them as it’s across the hospitality industry now. Food was average but we missed the start of the concert as service was slow. If you are going to a concert suggest you book 30 mins earlier than normal. I truly hope it gets back to good standard levels pre covid.

We had a delicious Pre Theatre meal at la Bon Auberge. Staff were very friendly, helpful, efficient, cheery and worked non stop as the restaurant was full.

We used to go a lot before covid and decided to visit What a disappointment The service was poor The senior waiter needs to dress professionally not with jeans on Food was under average in fact I have cooked better myself The senior winter when we said to him that it is being refurbished in 2023 thus might be true but will not make the food better The menu was very small and for a restaurant the wine list was poor only 4 white wines to choose from no Chardonnay There are so many restaurants now in Glasgow it needs to up its game I feel sorry for people who stay in the hotel if they think that this is Glasgow restaurant food

I can honestly say this was one of the worst hospitality experiences I've ever had. At one stage I was waiting on Basil Fawlty making an appearance. We arrived just before 12pm and there were 4 staff standing about. We should have left then when they would do anything but come near us. There was also no other tables in at this stage. After we sat down we looked around and the place was disgusting. Tables covered in breakfast dishes and the floor hadn't been touched. Again the staff remained behind the counter. We got up and asked if we could order drinks. 10 minutes later we again had to ask if we could order. The menu actually read well with herb foccacia with brie and poached pear so we ordered a croque mosuier, brioche French toast and a herb focaccia along with a snack of honeyed chipolatas. The waitress came out to say they had no herb focaccia so would a baguette do and no brie so would cheddar do? We changed our mind and ordered another crouqe. We then got served 3 ham and cheese toasties on stale bread! We're still waiting on the chiplolatas. Seriously avoid this place. Given the trials that hospitality has at the minute I completely understand that people are making cut backs but no excuses for the sheer volume of mistakes here.

Always thought this was an OK place to wait for a friend or transport. Not any more. Tonight I was there, ordered a drink, found a space to sit - very few people around - went to the toilet, came back to my seat and my scarf was missing. I went to the reception desk to ask if they knew what had happened - nothing. It was an expensive scarf so I persisted. Next thing I knew I was being threatened with the police!!!! Bring it on I said. Sat down waiting to be arrested for… being a stroppy woman I guess. What do you know… suddenly my scarf is found. Left at the bar they said. Right. I would take off hat, gloves coat but leave a scarf at the bar while I ordered. Fine. My favourite dessert is crème brûlée - so La Bonne Auberge was a gimme for my birthday meal. And it was a large portion of vanilla custard full of vanilla seeds and a perfectly burnt sugar topping. So creamy and decadent. I went with my teenage son who is autistic and my mother-in-law.

We met up with friends we had not seen for a long time, along with a three year old in tow. It is a very conveniently situated city centre restaurant attached to the Holiday Inn. We had burgers, mostly, which were very tasty. And I am very traditional in terms of usually opting for Croque Monsieur at lunchtime in French restaurants! I was most definitely not disappointed. But most of all, we were impressed with the way the staff accommodated the toddler and made sure that his needs were met, which meant of course that the adults were able to enjoy a relatively relaxed and delightful catch up!

As a family we have traveled through France many times, so on visiting Glasgow we thought we'd try here for a nostalgic evening. Please ! you can not be serious and advertise this as a French Restaurant. No French chef worth his salary would present such a tasteless meal, what happened to the seasoning ?, and so expensive. What a disappointment.

We wished we'd read the reviews before visiting this restaurant. We also had a similar experience on Sunday. After waiting 20 minutes between courses we were presented with under cooked chicken and luke warm vegetables. This was mentioned to the waiter who smiled and said he's tell the kitchen. Please think twice before going here, as it's an expensive gamble.

Una vez que se solucionó, pedimos nuestra comida. No tuvimos la oportunidad de ordenar del menú a la carta "ya que llevaría mucho tiempo cocinar". . . eh? Luego esperamos 30 minutos para que llegara la comida. La carne de cerdo de mi esposa era tan dura como una bota vieja y mi bacalao estaba aguado y frío. Las patatas fritas llegaron 10 minutos después de los platos principales y como nos quejábamos al gerente. Reconoció que la carne de cerdo no era comestible, pero sostuvo que el chef sintió que no había nada malo con el bacalao, a lo que respondí, por lo que disfruta de agua y frío. Incluso se equivocaron en la factura. Nunca más. . . solo basura!

Ya éramos huéspedes en el hotel durante unos días y decidimos aprovechar el menú de 2 platos de "precio fijo" que tenía la ventaja adicional de entradas para un complejo de cine cercano. Ambos platos principales, el salmón y el cerdo eran encantadores al igual que los postres, disfruté el Cr me Brulee. El personal es muy agradable y servicial.

Cuando estamos en Glasgow siempre comemos aquí y nunca nos decepcionamos.

Nos recibieron eficientemente y nos dieron un atractivo menú especial para el almuerzo. A medida que los precios van, era bastante caro para un almuerzo de dos platos, pero la comida era buena. Tuve el excelente pollo especial que estaba bien presentado y muy bien preparado. Buena presentación también. Mis dos amigos disfrutaron el pescado y el cerdo. Nuestro camarero era Joey, que era profesional y amable. Él es un activo para el restaurante.

We got £100 gourmet guide voucher as a gift. We booked La Bonne Auberge and were not disappointed. Fabulous meal. Steak, perfectly cooked with all the trimmings. Lovely desserts. Friendly helpful service and we'll definitely return.

With reference to the previous review I was one of that party and my meal was one of the inedible meals. I had first of all to ask the waiter what the dish entailed and this bore no resemblance to the actual dish when it eventually appeared. It was a pork dish in a sauce with vegetables but what was presented was a watery bowl with very fatty pork hard vegetables and no taste whatsoever. I agree with all the comments and will certainly not be returning.

Only a la carte menu offered, had to ask for Prix Fixe. Lunch with friends for a special occasion which turned into a disaster. Few staff around, Waiter didn't know anything about the dishes on the menu. No indication of GF on menu. No special dish of the day despite one being advertised. Booked for 12,00 food appeared at 1.00. One meal so cold it had to be returned and another two were even worse than they looked. Potatoes and other veg so hard they were inedible. One sent back and the diner who persevered with the other actually ended up being sick because of this. Puddings came an hour later. The only saving grace was the waiter seemed unfazed by our complaints and offered a refund for the one dish returned. Begun to wonder if this restaurant is actually part of the hotel. We have attended functions here previously when dishes were of a much higher calibre. Very poor service and definitely not value for money!

A few of us came here for Sunday dinner. If your looking for a meal of this standard I suggest a Wetherspoons for half the price.This is pub grub not restaurant standard food.We heard other customers make similar comments.

We've eaten many times at La Bonne Auberge, simply because we enjoy the food which is usually of a high standard, and the service is of equally high standard. Usually a good selection on the fixed price menu, but there's also the a la carte. This visit was on a Sunday evening, so not too busy. There's also a smaller bar/comfortable seating area where you can sit if you arrive too early or if you just want to come in for a drink or a tea, which is usually served in a pot. It's just across the road from both the cinema and the concert hall, so handy for eating before or drinks afterwards. We'll continue to visit this restaurant, as we've done for years.
