Good food, service and excellent atmosphere!!

A mid week visit so not busy but the service was good and the food was tasty and nice sized portions, We had a window seat which was great but it was a little chilly, Can’t fault anything tbh Vegan selection is really good and price range good

We had a fabulous evening. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the food and drinks were great. Highly recommend.

Favourite restaurant in Southampton, excellent food and margaritas!

Had a great meal here before going on to a gig. We shared a large plate of homemade nachos which were delicious, then I tried Mexican mole for the first time. It won't be the last … fantastic flavours. My friends chose vegetarian main dishes which they also really enjoyed. Service was warm and friendly. Well worth a visit.

Visitamos como una familia de 4 para celebrar el cumpleaños de mi esposo. Nos recibieron cálidamente a nuestra llegada y nos sirvieron rápidamente. Hay una buena selección de bebidas alcohólicas / sin alcohol en el menú. Compartimos un plato de nachos grandes para empezar que era delicioso y la cantidad justa de especias. Todos teníamos diferentes platos para nuestra red y todos coincidimos en que todo estaba absolutamente delicioso y cocinado a un alto nivel. Lamentablemente ninguno de nosotros tenía espacio para postres tan incapaces de comentar este aspecto del menú. El camarero era muy amable y tenía un gran sentido del humor y también nos dio descuento en el servicio de salud con nuestra tarjeta de luz azul que fue muy apreciado. Si quieres buena comida mexicana con un gran servicio en un entorno relajado, entonces recomendaría encarecidamente comer aquí. Esperamos con interés nuestra próxima visita.

Habitual durante años, la baronia ocupa un lugar especial en nuestros corazones. Nos preocupaba cuando se vendieron hace unos años que las cosas cambiaran dramáticamente, pero el menú y el sabor se ha mantenido muy igual (con algunas nuevas incorporaciones). Si estuviera siendo crítico, las porciones no son lo que solían ser, pero bienvenidos a los 2020 donde todos están sintiendo el pellizco. Fuimos a una cena de aniversario con nuestro hijo un domingo por la noche, teníamos el lugar para nosotros, la comida como siempre era caliente y fresca y el camarero atento.

La comida y las bebidas eran deliciosas. Los mejores nachos y margaritas que hemos probado. El servicio fue genial, sin duda volveré

This used to be our favourite restaurant, it's not anymore. We have been going here for well over 5 years. The lady that owned the restaurant was such a lovely welcoming person (haven't seen her for years). Recently went here for my birthday with my family, 12 of us in total. The service was appalling. We waited almost 2 hours between starters and mains. A couple came in after us and were served starters and mains, paid and left during that time. The food was either nuclear hot (microwaved) or cold and almost inedible! 1 of my family ordered a burger and it was so dry and cold she actually struggled to chew it without being sick. The salads and sides were tiny, which was maybe a good thing as they were either tasteless or just tasted of salt. The menu has steadily been getting worse for years. Not sure if it's a new chef but what was there best dish, an amazing Beef Brisket burrito, with separate rice, salad and sauces. Has now all been thrown in a wrap, making it dry and tasteless (well apart from the masses of salt), a dish I would not buy again. We received no apology or any sort of discount on the night. The food is expensive and always has been, but I don't mind that as a treat when the food is good. It definitely isn't good anymore. I wrote a review directly to the restaurant and received a Terrible uncaring reply. I replied again to this with a detailed and constructive message, which has been ignored. They said it was very busy and we did not pre-order. I was not asked or given this option when booking! As someone that has recommended this restaurant to many people in the past, that used to go regularly, I am left disappointed and let down. Thanks for ruining my birthday. I don't think I will ever go back again. There is no parking at the restaurant and parking in the local area is precarious at best.

Beautiful cocktails, good food. Efficient service

We had chicken fajitas. The chicken was a little bit overcooked but overall it wasn’t bad. My Husband ordered a gluten-free beer. It was the best he’s had on our travels. I think it was called the stinking hen. The best part of the whole experience was the Romanian waiter/owner not quite sure. He was entertaining the whole time taught us a lot of about the Romanian culture and general world history 👍good food and much laughter What else can you ask for while dining?

The best Mexican food in the area ! We had a lovely time last weekend with my partner. The service was amazing and the place is beautifully decorated. The mole is delicious and we also enjoyed the tacos. We will definitely come back for the atmosphere and trying more from the menu !!

Had a family meal here over the weekend. Really slow service (over an hour 15 minutes between starter and main) and the food was really not very good. Burger was overcooked, burritos were bland and small portions. Nachos were good but that was only positive. Really expensive for what we had. Won't be going back.

Great Mexican food with plenty of choices! Went with my aunt and cousin who have visited before but it was my first time. We ordered the beef enchiladas, beef burrito and mole rojas and all was delicious. Our server Mirco was lovely and very attentive - great guy!

We came to La Baronia in the afternoon and it was completely empty other than staff. We got seated and had good service as the employees happily answered any questions we had. The menu had some great vegetarian options for each type of food they served. The decorations are also very cool! The food didn’t take too short or long of a time to come to our table and once we got the food, it tasted fresh and very good. It may not be authentic but it was nice and we were satisfied. The only things that could’ve made the experience better would be having more places for parking, making sure the steak is cooked the way it was asked for and adding more variety to the menu. Also, lowering the prices or offering some complimentary tortilla chips would be a nice change as although the food was nice, most of the food was definitely not worth the price.

Stopped off for a post-graduation celebration meal. Just what we expected from a great neigbourhood Mexican restaurant. Amongst the best Enchiladas I've tasted. Charming and helpful staff. Everyone went away full and happy. Looking forward to visiting again when we're in Portswood.

Great venue for a large group meal. We booked at late notice for 19 of our friends for a celebration meal and had our own area of the restaurant. The hosts were friendly, fast and efficient in keeping the drinks flowing and taking our orders. Our food all arrived together and was excellent as always. They were happy for us to linger over a few more drinks following the meal and served us some after dinner shots to round off the meal aswell. Splitting the bill was no trouble and we all had a lovely evening. Thanks again! My favourite mexican restaurant in Southampton.

This was a very tasty and friendly experience. The staff were nice, the food was some of the best Mexican I have had, especially the Nachos. The service was speedy and the food came out in good time. I look forward to going here again.

What a beautiful restaurant with amazing staff. We all went for my daughter's 18th birthday. We all found the food to be excellent and clearly very fresh ingredients. Everyone really enjoyed all of the food and the cocktails too. The service was second to none. We're definitely looking forward to the next visit to La Baronia.

The vegetarian food was really great, I got a sweet potato enchilada. Really large portions and also really yummy drinks. The house sangria and mojito were amazing. Reasonable prices and a great overall atmosphere. Couldn't recommend more.

Had my birthday meal here and food was off-the-scale delicious, ingredients clearly fresh and of high quality. Carnitas Enchiladas were incredible. Service was excellent and we did eat earlier than we usually do but the atmosphere was still perfect. Recommdend Highly ....

We were on a short trip to Southampton and visitted the restaurant. The food was super, every dish was very tasty, especially the best nachos we have ever had. We had a very nice time in the cozy atmostphere. The staff was friendly. Mircea was very funny and friendly. Overall, it was a a great experience. We highly recommend the place.

Another lovely experience dining at La Baronia, this time came on a Tuesday instead of a Friday and it was pleasantly busy, which is always a great sign in a neighbourhood restaurant. Food: beautifully flavourful and properly seasoned dishes, we LOVE tacos and the birria queso and carnitas were lovely. We tried the mole rojas and brisket enchilada; both excellent! The mole really deep and rich, fluffy rice and a decadent brisket enchilada, the presentation matched the flavour. Service: we were greeted promptly and shown to our table, and our service was excellent throughout, there was a large party in and our drinks and food were ordered and with us quickly Atmosphere: well presented, very clean, thoughtful layout, music at a good level and a good mix of tables with our own space, have been here on very busy evenings and it still feels intimate and fun. All in all, a great neighbourhood spot for Mexican favourites and dishes you may not have tried before, with their own signature. Great cocktail deals too and specials, well worth a visit and will be back. Forgot to take photos as we were so busy enjoying!

Service needs a big improvement, visited with family and friends on a Saturday for dinner. The waiters were in hurry to get the orders and wanted to order everything in one go, which is highly impossible to do. Nobody knows how many dishes we would end up ordering without knowing the quantity. And for mocktails too, they didn't want to take order again. Nobody bothered too ask for dessert. Food wasnt good either, for the price quantity is too less. Wouldn't recommend.

Always enjoy a dinner here. Food us delicious and top quality as always and staff are very friendly. We were a group of 8 including a 2 year old whom they where kind enough to bring a small cup of icecream for free of charge just because. Great cocktails and reasonably priced beer. Good food, better ambience and best company.

It is a nice place to eat, but in a semi-sketchy location...college town. Parking was tough to find. Over all, the burrito, though I initially felt it was over priced, had amazing taste and filled me up. I liked the flavor combination they brought to it. The atmosphere was family centered and felt festive and warm. It wasn't what we are used to in the states, concerning Mexican, but I would recommend it for sure.

Dined in on a quiet Thursday evening, our booking was originally for Tuesday but we wanted to move it and it was super easy to do so online. The male waiter that served us was super friendly and helpful. The place was nicely decorated and had Latin music playing the whole time. I tried their own pilsner called “Lalo Mejor” it was really nice. For food we shared the Spiced ribs that came with thick cut chips and a side of rice, the ribs were super tasty and had a generous amount of meat on them, the chips were perfectly cooked and fluffy and went so well with this tangy ketchup sauce on the side, the rice was nice and light and complimented the meal perfectly. Will come here again sometime in the future for sure.

Such a great meal, tasty and generous portions. Have already recommended to friends. Parking is on the adjacent residential streets and it can take driving down a few to find a space.

one of my favorite places to go to for food, really really good, only con is it's a little expensive for a relatively small portion - about £20pp for a not very filling meal, but definitely the best in Southampton for mexican food in terms of taste, very good and quiet atmosphere too

Wow, wow, wow! Came here for an anniversary dinner with my partner and I can happily say that the experience went well above my high expectations. Amazing cocktails (they make a fantastic mojito in particular), a delightful and welcoming atmosphere and most importantly, incredible, scrumptious food. Every item we ordered simply had to be shared, every bite was savoured and we left very happy and full. Very reasonable in terms of spice levels and absolutely bursting with flavour. The restaurant itself is stunning, inside and out, featuring artwork painted by a local artist and, despite being rushed of his feet, our host was warm and polite throughout. We didn't have to wait long to order but he welcomed us and acknowledged us several times during that time anyway. The prices are modest and reasonable, £15-£20 for a generously sized main course and 100% worth the price, if not more. Thankyou so much for a fabulous dining experience and we greatly look forward to our next visit!

I used to go to La Baronia very frequently when I lived in Southampton and recently I came back to celebrate my birthday with my family. We had a wonderful evening. The food was simply delicious and the service was great at all times. The staff decorated the table for the special occasion and were extremely attentive. Would 100% recommend as it’s one of the best restaurants in the city!

Not many choices if you don't eat spicy (as in hot ), apart from the meat. I remember eating there, sometime ago, and I could choose enchilada without being spicy. Apparently they changed management and the sauce is now already made, so I could not have one. I was a bit disappointed. Also there's no more live music at the weekend, as it used to be. I hope soon they'll have the music back.

Was down south at the weekend on business and popped in for dinner (as I usually do). The staff looked after me so well and chatted to me when they could as I was on my own. So friendly. Had the chilli beef burrito - huge & magnificent! Was going to post a picture but I was far too busy demolishing it. Very tasty. See you next time I’m down. 👏👏

This place is a true gem, I went on Saturday night with my husband. The food was amazing (be warned, they do not do small portions!!). I had chicken fajitas and husband had a beef brisket enchilada, food was amazing. The 2 men and the girl at front of house were really friendly and helpful. They were there but not in your face. I recommend the secret recipe sangria, could get very drunk very easily. This is a must go to restaurant if you like Mexican food. We will be back very soon.
