Kyrenia in Reading

We made a last minute decision to go out to eat and we were very pleased with our choice of this friendly restaurant. They were very welcoming and the food was delicious. Wonderful flavours and plenty of choice. Excellent

Had an amazing time last night. The food was excellent as was the service. We hadn’t been there for a while but we received a very genuine warm welcome. The kleftiko was so tender and the meat fell away from the bone and the sea bass was literally melt in the mouth.

This place is an oasis of Greece tucked away in a corner of Caversham, the atmosphere was almost like every one eating had been transported to a Greek beach restaurant somewhere. We shared the delicious mixed mezzi hot starter which with the lovely hot pitta bread was excellent, and for main we both had the E chicken breast stuffed with feta and spinach in a creamy mushroom sauce, and both thought this was one of the best dishes we had had for some while, all washed down with some nice cold Greek lagers, the whole dinner was less than £65 with 4 beers so good value, our waitress Eddie was excellent. No deserts as we were to full, and we left with 2 complimentary limoncello as a parting gift from Eddie, will certainly revisit. Certainly recommend to anyone who wants the taste o& Greece here in Caversham.

We visited with a group of 15 although the restaurant was very busy the staff coped admirably with all our requests the food was very good and excellent value for money

Spitiko is amazing. The food is exceptional and the atmosphere is so lovely, with friendly and really lovely staff. My husband and I love coming to this restaurant and by this point, have probably tried everything on the menu and have never had a bad meal. We will be back, many more times!

It was the best moussaka. I have had outside of Greece. It was served with a Greek salad. My wife and son thoroughly enjoyed their meals too. We enjoyed a few Mythos. Beers followed by some very decent wine . All in all a very enjoyable evening..

Great little restaurant and really good value for money. The service was excellent and as we couldn’t make our minds up over the spicy Greek dip which we had or the houmous she bought us a small dish of the other which was really nice of her. Stuffed aubergine was very good as was the Moussaka. The Pastichio is also very good. Portions are large so make sure your hungry, will be returning to this gem.

This is our top choice for Greek/Cypriot food. Added to this is the excellent friendly service of Ketty and her staff making us very welcome, making a lovely night out

We often get a takeaway from Spitiko, we have done this regularly since they opened. But tonight we were at a loose end and decided to go out for dinner. Amazing food, friendly staff and a really nice evening. So great to have a non chain restaurant to go to. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

So close to being the best Greek restaurant I have ever been in that isn't in Greece - somehow a street in Reading loses out to places in the Greek countryside with their fresh local produce and views but it's still very good and, judging by the number of regulars in, it is highly regarded. Really good starters including Lamb Kofta (very tasty), Hummus ( excellent - quite an accolade from a lady who lived in London surrounded by some of the best), my own Stuffed Aubergine (very tasty but a bit lacking in flavour) and my partner's Garlic Prawns (ok, slightly overcooked, a bit short of sauce and £3 per prawn is a bit steep). The mains of Lamb Cutlets (delicious), Kalamari (tasty but not exceptional), my lady's Chicken Souvlaki (to die for, could have just eaten the rice it was that hood - I tasted both, she wasn't wrong. I had the Mixed Grill and it's the nicest meat I have tasted in this country, perfectly cooked with startling flavour. Service was excellent despite beibg very busy early on a Saturday evening. My lady's son and partner have just moved to Reading and so we most certainly will visit again., just know what doesn't work for us. Highly recommended Revisited in October 2023 after the birth of my lady's first grand daughter so two of us ate in and two had a takeaway I should start by saying that we were waited on by a gentleman who said he normally worked in the kitchen but someone was help up en route - he was brilliant My lady opted for the Tirokaftera or spicy feta dip which was pretty amazing. whilst I went for the equaly impressive Pastourma which is a beef Greek version of chorizo and very tasty. On the mains front my lady went for Chicken Souvlaki and I for the lamb version of the same. Both were really good and I would love to know what they put in thr rice to make it taste so good. The takeaways were both lamb souvlaki and they were very very well received

Great service and delicious food! It was my first visit and I ordered 3 starters including the papoutsakia which was outstanding! We’ll be back!

This restaurant was absolutely delicious! Everything we orderd was more then spectacular,my partner and i shared a selection of mezez then finished with chicken souvlaki accompanied by a cold mythos and a home made fruit cheese cake! hes telling me now to not forget to mention the tadziki was unreal! staff where so friendly and welcoming asif you are one of the family! God has blessed the chefs hands. Thank you so much

I am so sad to say this because I used to love Kyrenia, and I also don't like to slate a small business without good cause, but I was so disappointed in the meal I had there last.

Been meaning to come here for 10+ years, and finally did so this evening - and did so in the worst way possible: just turned up and asked if they could squeeze the 3 of us in. No problems, despite a decent percentage of the place being occupied.We started with a Greek beer while reading the menu (Mythos reminds me of Birra Moretti). I ordered Loukaniko for a starter (like chorizo but MUCH nicer) and Dolmades for the main. Both were delicious, but I found myself wishing the starter was the main and vice versa. That sausage was amazing.We also had a lovely D'Ahera Cypriot red with the main. It was delicious. Normally I only have 2 of 3 courses (starter/main or main/dessert), but the portions weren't American sized and it was our first visit, so we had dessert as well. The Kettys Trilece tastes exactly as good as it reads. I also tasted my friends' Baklava and Kateifi, and they were also delicious.As you can tell, we hated the place and will never come back. Until a week or two, probably. This was such a lovely place to eat.

Was somewhat disappointed with my visit to Kettys, the menu was very much standard 'uk' Greek (or in this case Cypriot) offering, nothing outstanding. Food (mezes) was as you'd expect delivered as ready and was all generally ok. But for me that's the problem. OK not special, not worth a repeat visit. Usual fare, Houmus (probably the best dish) Spanakoppita, Souvlaki, Haloumi, Loukaniko, Kalamari, all just OK. Services was friendly enough - Im guessing family run. Overall I thought pricey £85 for 4 with a bottle of Rose wine.

Booked the Kyrenia Restaurant a month in advance and my name and telephone number were taken down. When we turned up the door was locked. A man inside opened the door and he said they were closed. He did offer to cook for us. I was not sure what choice of food they would have in if they weren't expecting to cook and this was a birthday meal - the whole restaurant was empty and would have had no atmosphere.

Ходили на ужин с небольшой компанией коллег. Атмосфера, еда, вино - все было на уровне настоящего греческого ресторана. Больше всего понравилась пита и tzatziki. Traditional meze советую брать только если вы очень очень голодны так как оно состоит из четырех перемен блюд и уже на горячих закусках двое моих коллег мужчин объелись.

Reading è una cittadina che vanta un numero incredibile di ristoranti delle più varie etnie di cucina.Tra i 7 ristoranti che abbiamo provato in cinque giorni non poteva mancare uno greco e abbiamo scelto il Kyrenia(dal nome di una città di Cipro,da cui viene il proprietario).E' nel sobborgo di Caversham quindi occorre il taxi per raggiungerlo.il locale prevede una dozzina di tavoli,abbastanza vicini tra loro.Il proprietario capisce un pò di italiano ed è stato gentile e premuroso.Abbiamo assaggiato Houmous come antipasto(buono,come pure il pane pita abbinato).A seguire abbiamo preso una moussaka che a mia moglie è piaciuta mentre io la ho trovata non molto saporita.Unici vini al calice disponibili sono un rosso,un rosè ed un bianco,tutti di Cipro e piuttosto cattivi.I prezzi sono nella media inglese,quindi un pò cari.

Abbiamo purtroppo cenato in questo ristorante dove il proprietario è decisamente maleducato e scontroso.I piatti sono decisamente mediocri e prezzi troppo alti rispetto alla qualità .Servizio scarso

After 8 years not visiting this restaurant I went back with my family (7 year old twins and 4 year old boy) for Mother's Day. We got recognised straight away by the staff. The service was brilliant as always. We ordered 2 mezes with some extra starters which was enough for 5 of us. The meal was very nice and tasty, we all left with full tummies. Definitely going back again soon, thank you for the lovely Mother's Day lunch.

The food in kyrenia is very nice. Good quality, tasty food and quite friendly staff. I have had lunch in kyrenia several times since now and my overall experience is very good. It is one of the best restaurants in the area. I recommend it!!

Kyrenia is a quaint, cosy restaurant suited in the heart of Caversham. Quick service and excellent food. Recommended

Superb food! Often have the meze as it offers a good variety, healthy and tasty, the starters are very fresh, the main courses are cooked beautifully especially the stifado and kleftiko. Service is excellent friendly and helpful. Always busy, adds to the mediterranean atmosphere. Downstairs seating is best so book early for the weekends. We love it and go back often.

Food is absolutely excelent. We go there as often as we can.

The mezze is excellent. Thestaff are lovely. The octopus is the best!

Had the Mezzi which was the set menu. Very good selection of dishes that were healthy and full of flavour. The price of the Mezzi was pretty reasonable considering all the courses that were provided. The tables are pushed quite close together though so if it's busy you do feel rather confined.

Can't wait to go again. Great menu.
