Absolutely love this place!! Was there again tonight with my partner for his birthday and couldn’t fault a thing! Rebecca was outstanding as was the food and the service, the quality and quantity of food at such a reasonable price is unbelievable! Always go above and beyond, can’t wait for our next visit!! Xx

Always great food and service, welcoming friendly staff, Rebecca does a great job, the salt and chilli squid is amazing, ditto duck, sea bass and dim sum. Never disappoints- really enjoy our visits!!!

Best Chinese food I’ve ever had! Ordered the hot & spicy soup as a starter, then the barbecue spare ribs and the dim sum mix. When I tell you it was absolutely mind-blowing, it would be an understatement. You could tell that every dish was made with fresh ingredients and was simply bursting with flavor. I loved every bite and will definitely come again. 100/10 for sure!

Been here many times, went last Sunday for dinner, stunned to see almost all prices for main courses have doubled, stayed as we did not have any alternative plans, food was fine, service was good, but the price rises are crazy, I had a basic vegetarian curry, £19 for this dish alone, shame as there are a few good pubs around which tied up well with a reasonably priced Chinese, alas no more.

Very overpriced. Viewed menu online before visiting restaurant and prices don't match up. We were shocked to find out they were double the price! Are they showing take out prices online? Let me know if this is the case! We didn't have this, but check out the price of an omelette!!! Please update your online menu prices!!!

I am visiting Edinburgh and decided to try this place as it seemed inviting when I walked by. I was very happy with my choice - good service, comfortable atmosphere, and delicious food! I had a smaller meal, but the spring rolls were crippy, the soup both was rich and savoury, and the cha siu bao were absolutely perfect.

The food was excellent and the lady taking the orders was friendly and efficient. We were given complementary prawn crackers while we waited which was a nice touch. The restaurant didn't appear to have much ambience but we were just getting takeaway so that didn't bother us. I'd definitely go back.

I used to live in Beijing and the food here reminded me of good restaurants I ate at there. Excellent, highly recommended.

I was a regular customer and on this occasion I was given a dish that was over cooked and inedible so I sent it back. Instead of replacing it or taking it off the bill (like a normal restaurant) I was told it was my fault for ordering the wrong dish and I was expected to pay for it. So essentially, she would rather have £8 for that dish I didn’t eat than have a regular and loyal customer who was spending between £30 and £80 a month at her restaurant. Absolutely zero customer service skills or common sense. Idiot.

The duck was rotten, extreme low quality, overcooked even. I had to make a phone call, and asked to use their phone (not unusual) they pretended I could til I had ordered then denied with very rude manner then paraded about with their phone passive aggressive. Bad food and people.

Absolute lovely experience! Extensive menu to choose from. As starter we shared honey chili chicken wings, which were deliciously spicy, and fried king prawns. After that we had duck (which was cooked perfectly), fried rice and a aubergine hot pot. The flavors were a delight. The owners are two lovely ladies, ready to help with anything and are happy to share their knowledge of their food and kitchen. A must have experience!

Did not book but managed to get a table. Greeted by a friendly member of the team and seated quickly at our table. Large food menu to choose from with a good drinks selection or BYO bottle option. We had spring rolls as a starter to share. Yummy. Then lemon chicken, fried rice, chicken in a green pepper and black bean sauce. Wow...freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Don't forget the delicious prawn crackers. Thanks Kwok Restaurant for the excellent food and a lovely evening! 😊

Many times sitting in and takeaway. Never fails to impress

This was a very disappointing experience. Foolishly, I did not follow my 'entry level test' for a Chinese restaurant i.e. are there any Chinese people eating there? There was not, but went ahead based on reviews and the fact that it was in a very convenient location for us. We were given a 2-hour window for our 'dining experience' which is fine as this is common practice. However, it becomes less fine when certain things/starters on the menu take half an hour to prepare, so in effect you cannot have them. I have eaten many, many times in hundreds of restaurants in China and the food in this place bore no resemblance to proper Chinese food. I appreciate that Chinese food here is cooked to the UK palate, but two of the dishes that we had were cooked to 'zero palate'. My partner had the rainbow chicken special. It was thin, pale, tasteless strips of cheap and nasty chicken with some red and yellow peppers (hence the rainbow). It was the most bland and tasteless dish I have ever tasted. No (or at least extremely little) ginger, chili, garlic...anything. She ate about a third of it and gave up. I had the Thai Royal Tom Yam Chicken: "A delicious Thai Dish. The bed of Chicken is marinated slightly, deep fried with the delicious touch of Sweet Chilli Sauce & flavoured with Lemon Grass" It was a fried/deep fried breaded piece of chicken smothers in off the shelf sweet chilli sauce. It had never seen lemon grass and did not include a single Thai ingredient except the chilli dipping sauce that had been poured all over it. It was simply the worst dish I had ever had in any restaurant. Quite rightly, they did not charge us for my dish, and, in fairness the others in our party said their food was OK/good. My daughter had sea bream (I think) and that was really good - good perfectly and with some good flavour. It seems they use their 'specials' to make a killing by serving food that costs nothing to produce and calling it a special 'lures' people in. The restaurant was full and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals, but then, I wonder how many of the white middle aged customers had eaten much proper Chinese food. So, in short, this restaurnat might be OK for you, but not if you want proper, tasty Chinese cuisine.

Went to the wrong place but how lucky we were to find this little gem of a place. Two ladies both very friendly and welcoming. The food was presented well and was hot and tasty. Best chicken schezwan we have tasted. Excellent customer service . Thank you : we will definitely be back again.

Average Chinese takeaway, overpriced. Very small place, with toilets so dirty and partly flooded. Would NOT come back.

To say I was disappointed with this restaurant is an understatement. I ate a spare rib from the starters that was very dry and tasteless. Then I had a duck dish which was described as duck with spring onions and ginger. I got a duck stew with sweet corn and one piece of ginger with two pieces of spring onion .... only recognisable because it was green. The duck was so dried out i couldn't swallow the meat. My food was very bland and inedible. When my food was removed from the table I was asked if I had finished ... not was there a problem with your meal? Every meal on the table was the same stew with a different meat. I paid 27 pounds for a very unsatisfactory, tasteless, dried out meal and went home to eat. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Another delicious take away meal from KWOK last night. Despite these difficult times standards are as high as always.

I wouldn’t bother. Asked for a table and clearly not interested in serving use. Waitress rolled her eyes. ‘Oh dear. Another customer! Who needs them!’

Tried for the first time tonight and overall very good. The Lemon Chicken could have been more Lemony, the Pork Ball batter was a little too crispy but the chicken fried rice was super and the portion sizes are very good. Not the cheapest but great quality and friendly staff.

I love this Chinese restaurant. Food is delicious and I'm so glad they try and avoid using MSG which has made me feel ill in other restaurants and takeaways. Staff are so friendly and helpful. I think it's a family business. Place is clean. I've been returning since I discovered this place and it's consistently good quality food and cleanliness. The staff have also continued to wear face coverings which is reassuring, even beyond the legal requirement. Thanks!

En general muy bueno. Lo más flojo el Hot Pot ya q estoy acostumbrada al de España y es diferente. Este esta muy bueno pero el otro creo q se aproxima mas a una olla caliente que este. Gran descubrimientos con el wrap de iceber. Esta buenísimo y fresco a la vez que caliente. Los fideos de arroz lo mejor de todo. Una salsa espesa y a la vez ligera. Eran de pollo y gambas. Espectaculares. Un 10 sin dudarlo y la atención excepcional. Rápido y bueno

Food from here is always amazing … so fresh and so much flavour ! Which is why I don’t mind waiting eta 90mins for delivery … but tonight takes the absolute biscuit!!!! Over 3 hours ago we ordered - no sign of food and cannot get through to the restaurant on the phone ! Might get to enjoy my dinner next week 🤷🏼‍♀️

Best Chinese food I've ever had! Sometimes I find Chinese food a bit bland but not here! Also the owners and staff are really friendly. Our main course took a long time to arrive as there was some mix up with the order but it was well worth waiting for. If you're in the area I definitely recommend.

Always a warm welcome here, the food is always great - I loved the Cheung Bau with the nuts crumbled into the batter - not had that before. Highly recommended.

My sister and I had a really tasty takeaway from this place. We had the mini spring rolls (super crispy!), duck fried rice and singapore noodles. The woman who took our order was very friendly and the food was ready quickly. Would definitely recommend.

Ordered yesterday online for collection. Good menu choice ,food ready at the time requested ,all packaged. Expecting to have to heat up when got home (15 minutes) ,but no need . Good sized portions Would order again.

Quick friendly service and great value

We waited almost 2 hours, and people that arrived 40 minutes after us were served before us. The food wasn’t even worth the wait.

If you enjoy flushing ten pounds down the toilet and being treated like a dog by the manager who had all the demeanor and grace of a pig at a glutinous and exclusive banquet , then you might like it. I had the duck which was advertised and sold on the basis that it was traditional Cantonese , when I opened up the box it was swimming in a bath of brown sickly sweet sauce rubbish cuts of mushrooms and sweet corn thrown into the garbage mix to further compound the levels of rubbish. The sad thing is the cuts of poultry were not too bad (for this type of place ) but they had to ruin it with standard 1980s take away sauce as the main body of the food also the arrogant manager told me that their would be Chinese leaves and that it would be trad , but it was just the worst kind of chinese takeaway( UK high street circa 1987 ) adapted piss you could find no doubt the kind of food that tastes palatable after a skin full of beer. Rice tasted over done. Really unfriendly ambiance too if you don't happen to be white and middle aged so I get where a previous reviewer was coming from on that score. The ridiculous women refused to sell me a beer while I waited for the order despite it being well before ten o clock at night and said it was because I was taking away but I made it clear I wanted to buy one while I was waiting on the premises. if I'd looked full white I think the response would have been different. My response if I ever feel like a local Chinese dinner around here will be to visit farm foods foreign meal section and stock up since the quality is better there for a fraction of the price.

This is our favourite restaurant by far! The food is always amazing and plentiful. My advice would be go often and try everything! Especially the dim sum! Rebecca and everyone on the team are always so warm, friendly and welcoming and it’s just like going to your pals for an awesome feast!! Wish we could go more often! Can not recommend it enough! Can’t wait till next time 🤗

Food is excellent as is the service. We went with a group of 10 (reservations strongly recommended for group) and had no issues with anything. Will go back again!!

Amazing, could not ask for more

Went with a party of 5 at 7pm, and the place rapidly filled up around us. Service was great and prompt, and the menus were explained when we needed clarification. You can take your own wine, for a nominal corkage charge as their wine selection is not extensive. Our food was very good, from a selection of starters, mains and desserts. Also prices are reasonable and won't break the bank.

The best Chinese I have had in Edinburgh. The family staff are unparalleled. Friendly conversation throughout and enthusiastic service. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I have used Kwok Brasserie in Ratcliffe Terrace for almost 20 years. They were one of the first Chinese restaurants in Edinburgh to omit Mono-Sodium-Glutamate (MSG - regularly used in Chinese food to give it more flavour, but can make some people very unwell) from their cooking, which was what attracted me to them in the first place. They have a wide variety of dishes which are all freshly prepared - we particularly like the beef and green pepper in black bean sauce and the Kung Po chicken . The restaurant welcomes young children at lunch time and in the early evening and they will even take time to show them how to use chopsticks and expect them to share your food. It is a good place to take young children because they don't have to wait long for their food to arrive, and the food is colourful and very tasty. The same extensive menu is available for take aways and deliveries and it arrives hot, tasty and in under an hour.

This place used to be good. It's really gross now. Noodles were clumped together and had that 'fusty noodle' smell. So much for 'black bean sauce' on them too, there was maybe a tablespoonful in the whole tub. The diet coke I ordered was also out of date on Nov 2016- didn't notice til I poured a glass and went to drink it - was semi-flat (despite being in a sealed bottle!) and tasted awful (you know when diet coke's been lying around near heaters for too long and get's that weird taste?) Never again, waste of money, I'd have been better with a 99p ready meal from Asda's freezer section.

This is by far the best local Chinese in the area - it's a our local. Their Shredded Chilli Chicken is the best I've had and the staff are always lovely.

I had high hopes for a place that looked more hole in the wall, but in the end I wouldn't call this Chinese food. We ordered a noodle dish and fried rice. Food was a bit bland and flavor and textures were off. The fried shrimp chips were good and the overall service was great though.

No MSGs in their dishes. Excellent service. Good food. Friendly staff.

I've eaten here both as restaurant and as takeaway/delivery. One of my fav places for decent chinese. A creature of habit usually order crispy beef and kung pow chicken.
