Koo Coffee & Deli in Chesterfield

Sorry, I know Koo gets a lot of good reviews but unfortunately our first experience wasn't the best. It took ages for our food to come. I had the American pancakes with bacon,. unfortunately the bacon just tasted of grease, and I love steaky bacon. Others said their food could have been warmer. Two of us ordered second cups of coffee which never arrived yet were added to the bill. Service was very slow too. The waitress cleared most of our plates except for two. And it wasn't busy, there were a few empty tables and a lot of staff. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Beautiful little spot. Looks freshly decorated & well looked after. Staff were very attentive. I had a full English which was cooked to perfection with just right runny eggs. My family all thoroughly enjoyed theirs too. Worth a visit.

This was a visit for breakfast to a place we've been a few times very near where we live. It's usually very reasonable quality, friendly service. I ordered the full English breakfast and unlike some places but they agree to reasonable minor changes to suit tastes. However this visit was a disaster. When my meal was served the sausage and bacon were very undercooked and the fried eggs were baked hard. The reason was that they had lost the use of their grill and were baking all the items. Frankly they should have taken the cooked breakfast items off the menu till the grill was repaired replaced. They did take my meal off the bill (I would have refused to pay anyway!!). They missed a trick. If they had complementaried the whole meal then I would never have reviewed.

We really enjoyed our lunch here. My favourite is the warm beetroot salad. Fish and chips are delicious though. Lovely staff, and surroundings, great for lunch and a glass of wine 😀 would recommend

Lovely environment but unfortunately nothing but below average. We visited for breakfast. Eggs royale & eggs Benedict but all the eggs were overcooked. 2 coffees each the coffee was lovely but just one came with a biscuit. Then as I was still eating my daughter had finished and they cleared her plate away, poor incorrect service really annoys me, I don’t want to be sat eating on my own feeling rushed just because I’m a slow eater !

Thank goodness somewhere decided to open when it snowed! We are so glad we braved the weather and had lunch at koo. We opted for the Turkey/Yorkshire pudding wrap special and it did not disappoint excellent service with a smile as always. Well be back soon. Thank you

Excellent staff who greet you warmly and provide wonderful service with a smile on their faces. Fantastic choice of meals are available to suit everyone and the environment is clean, tidy and comfortable. I have been for breakfast, brunch and lunch in the past and enjoyed every visit. We will certainly be visiting again soon.

The cafe was fairly busy, but certainly not full. We were advised it would be a 20 minute wait for food & it eventually arrived after an hour. We weren’t visited by a member of staff to advise us of the change in wait time, nor offered another drink whilst we waited. It was mediocre when it did arrive. My friend had fish & chips, & the batter was very over cooked. My ciabatta was dry. It was pretty average & I won’t be returning again in a hurry.

4 of us called here for brunch. After ordering, we watched all other groups of people arriving, ordering, eating and leaving. After an hour or so I asked what the problem was and was told it was being plated. We waited a further 20 mins and it arrived just before we were about to leave. The salad and pasta were fine however the bacon must have been in the oven for over an hour and was inedible...as hard as a brick. Tea went cold waiting for sweeteners. Never to be repeated.

I popped into koo for breakfast on Sunday, and wow I can’t tel you how accommodating the staff was. I ordered eggs Benedict the eggs were cooked to perfection runny in the middle

We hired Koo for our Golden Wedding party of 35 guests and had an amazing night. Gemma and her team worked tirelessly to make it a celebration to remember, nothing was too much trouble. The buffet was first class with a very wide choice of dishes, including desserts. In the words of one guest ‘thanks it was an awesome party’. Thank you Gemma and co.

I met my son here for breakfast and was very impressed with the whole experience. The young team were friendly, attentive and efficient, providing great customer service. The food was excellent (the Ranch breakfast was delicious) and the coffee hot. I would definitely visit Koo again when next in Chesterfield.

This place is just fantastic. The Village vibe it presents is to behold. The Coffee, Cakes and Leaf teas are just out of this world. Its very clean, tidy and the staff are always very friendly to us. Loved sitting here watching the world go by. Hopefully soon we will be able to revisit and buy some of the Coffee (if we can) to take home and enjoy with our machine. Jack J

My daughter treated me to breakfast here today and what a delightful meal it was. Daughter ordered New York Bagel, I ordered Eggs Benedict and we ordered a tea cake for the baby. Everything we ordered was exceptional and the caramel iced latte was to die for. The team could not have been more accommodating - and particularly baby friendly. The baby changing facilities were way beyond what you would expect. We will be coming back!!

I visited Koo today with a colleague while out on a work trip in Chesterfield and what a great find! It was very busy so we were lucky to get a table but the service was excellent and the food came out really quick which was surprising considering how busy it was. I ordered the steak sandwich and asked for it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. I would recommend this place but I would advise booking as it was full on the middle of the day on a Thursday so I imagine it's even busier at the weekend.

This place is popular for a good reason and I recommend you book before turning up although that is still an option. Staff are super nice and professional. Our orders were taken and the food arrived hot, fresh and exactly as expected. We both thoroughly enjoyed this visit, the food and the service. Thank you

Just had a vegetarian breakfast at Koos. The eggs were extremely burnt, greasy mushrooms and the vegetarian sausages were cold. Presentation terrible.I did tell the waitress and she knocked 5% of the bill which amounted to £1.10p. Shocking!

Great little restaurant, busy so booking maybe a good idea. Called here for lunch and were able to order from the breakfast menu. Food excellent and good portion sizes, my poached eggs were delicious and perfectly cooked,very good service and helpful staff. We had the option of sitting inside or outside.

Decided to visit here for breakfast one morning. This place is always busy and sometimes it’s hard to get a table, we struck lucky even though the tables were all pretty much reserved we were told we could have one but had to leave by the allotted time.

We were bought afternoon tea as a gift this was so much more,we were bought these amazing sandwiches (they ask when you book if you have any dietary restrictions and I said no but then told them what we preferred) A large amount of cakes followed which were gorgeous in fact we couldn’t eat many after our wonderful sandwiches which was washed down with a full large teapot each of tea. We were asked if we wanted the cakes boxed up to take home which we did. We can thoroughly recommend this cafe

I have been there three times and the first time I had a very good breakfast there, but the second visit was disappointing, I had a lasagne which was rather tasteless. I went again and had an all day breakfast which was not good at all - overcooked and dried up. i won't be going there again !

We visited Koo on Sunday, travelling from all over the country to meet up as a family. We found the staff welcoming and friendly. The speed of service was just right and most important ... the food was great... we had burgers and veggie sandwiches... really tasty.... didn’t have any cake.... too full. I would recommend this resurant to you.

Stopped for lunch yesterday and what a hidden gem for us. Fabulous menu and was not disappointed with the full breakfast and eggs florentine.. the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We will be returning very soon and frequently. Lovely interior and clean toilets. I think it's dog friendly which again is a huge plus.

Stopped for breakfast on a weekend away, it was delicious. Great service and without doubt the best Eggs Benedict I have ever eaten! Such a shame we live so far away!

As part of my husbands birthday celebrations we called in to our favourite coffee shop as part of a walk. As always the coffee and food was fresh and delicious. They even popped a candle in his scone ☺. We had our dog with us and they are so dog friendly. They brought hime some milk and a dog treat. Will be going again soon.

Pleasant place, lovely attentive staff, prompt service, delicious food and great selection of teas. Over the road from Bristol Street Motors and very good place to kill time whilst waiting for car to be serviced.

Visited here a few times for coffee and a bite to eat when in the area as it has a nice outside which is away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Always been welcomed by friendly staff but have never walked away with the wow factor. My recent order was the beer battered fish finger sandwich which stated on the menu came with skin on fries and coleslaw. On arrival I had two small pieces of fish (which did taste nice) but sandwiched between two huge chunks of thick sliced dry white bread. There was no coleslaw just a mixed salad which wasn't to my taste and a huge mound of the fries. I asked for sauce to be told there wasn't any just the tartare which accompanied it. I ended up abandoning the bread and just opted to eat the fish and fries and left the rest. I think what made matters worse was looking at another table who'd ordered the same thing and seeing they'd got 4 good size pieces of fish on their sandwich. I don't think the extra fish would have made up for the ridiculously sized bread it was sandwiched between though. Won't be rushing back as I wouldn't say the prices are that reasonable for a out of town café and the menu is very uninspiring. Too much choice out there to risk another trip

Pop in for tea and cake en route to supermarket. Good quality chocolate orange cake and excellent quality tea and cappuccino. As sunny enjoyed the sun outside topped off the treat. Interesting to note that many tables were reserved. Will go back for breakfast or lunch which looked great

The staff were friendly, they have both inside and outside dining areas although the outside area is next to a busy main road. The food was good and the coffee excellent

Nice place, friendly staff, food was ok although more style over substance. I had English breakfast which was ok but messed about with (beans served in small kilner jar, dried parsley sprinkled over everything) and not cheap.

On numerous occasions I have been meaning to review Koo. I love the place and the food is excellent. The staff bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. I have been to Koo with family, friends and solo on and off now for the past 5 years and I am yet to be left wanting. Hot drinks are stunning, food superb and the cakes are stuff of legend.

Menu needs to be updated, choices aren't inspiring. Service was mediocre. Drafty and cold when visited with a friend a few months ago, the heating wasn't on.

We went to Koo's on Saturday for lunch. The food we had was very tasty and enjoyable but our visit was marred by slow service. My partner and our friend had nearly finished eating theirs before my dish was served. Admittedly the place was very busy but I still think that all the food should have arrived moreorless together.

Having opted for a “while-you-wait” car service at the nearby Vauxhall garage, we decided that we’d pop in for a coffee to pass the time – and hopefully complete the weekend cryptic crossword at the same time. It’s not a very big café, and it was surprisingly busy at around 0945, which was when we called in.

Have visited here a few times to have breakfast. Every time I have had the one pot breakfast and it is delicious. The service was good on each visit. The only downside I felt were that the tables felt a bit squished together. Definitely would revisit.

We visited Koo at lunchtime today, having pre-booked. Our table was ready and the staff really welcoming. The food was great. We had a mixture of dishes from salad to the (huge!) portion of quiche. There is a very extensive menu of different teas to choose from. We will be back!

I work directly opposite KOO and I only decided to try it for the first time today, wish I tried it earlier! Quick friendly service ordered the eggs Benedict to go and I was worried about the sauce! Came in a little box and when I opened it once back at work I was pleasantly surprised. The flavours were all great and portion size also, hot and fresh and my third breakfast of the day will be returning!

Popped in with my friend after school run. My coffee was served just as I asked for and the service was lovely.

So I am busy in town when I get messages from my wife and daughters saying they are in Too and would I like to join them - in other words can I come and pay. I just have coffee and a muffin whilst they have sat down to full meals - my muffin is everything a muffin should be and they are saying their lunch is really good. The place is set on the upward moving chatsworth road and has a pleasant atmosphere with nice cheerful service. Lovely.

We reserved a table this Sunday morning for our mans birthday. Lovely warm reception, great staff and beautiful food. Completely enjoyed ourself and would definitely return

My fiancé and I went here with our 3 children, we were given a warm welcome and the staff accommodated us all very well giving us extra space for the pushchair. The staff were very helpful and went the extra mile ensuring the children were well catered for, which meant that we could have a relaxing breakfast which very rarely happens in our family! So we will definitely be back!
