My partner and I frequently use Kongs. The food is outstanding and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend for eating in or taking out.

Whilst the food was ok, it was really annoying to have my main item missing from my order. Apparently it was my fault she didn't hear me ask specifically for udon noodles with prawns!

I went to Kongs on my birthday with my close family, I found the service and decor to be good. We couldn't fault the food, better than average Chinese restaurant fayre. The only thing that upset us was that another customer on a nearby table was allowed to vape on an e cigarette . He was with a group of 8 and appeared to be a regular .Not happy.

Went to this restaurant tonight with family, we had a big variety of food, very good all of it, service excellence as well

My wife and I had a very nice meal tonight. Service was good. Booked our table earlier in evening and we were sat quite promptly. We noticed that the staff were also very busy dealing with takeaway orders which we felt was a good sign. We took recommendations from the menu and all dishes were nice. I would say this is a good Chinese restaurant.

Fantastic value @£12 a hed. A great selection of dishes well presented and plenty of food meant we didn’t inish it all in one sitting Well done for a nice meal

We had a lovely meal here last night, every dish we ordered was really tasty and fresh. The portions are massive we definitely over ordered, but they gave us some tubs so we could take it home. We didn’t feel rushed and they left enough time between our starters, duck and mains. Definitely recommend. Thank you kongs for a lovely night.

My self and my partner went out for dinner to this restaurant and as we went in we didn’t get a warm welcome not even a hello we were told to sit down and wait to be seated which we did five minutes later our waiter told us to come and we were seated on a table that was wobbly and being held stable by a piece of card under the leg right next to the front door when we asked if we could move to another table we were told no but we pushed and they sat us on a eight seater table to then have a part of other people sat right next to us ? The staff we unfriendly rude when our food arrived it was cold so we told our waiter who took the food away with no apology what so ever and returned with the food that had been microwaved hot plonked it down on the table and left again no apology nothing we ate our food that was ok we asked our waiter if we could take the rest with us as there was some left the waiter then come with food boxes threw them on the table and told us to do it ourselves my self and my partner were horrified as the party on the next table has asked the same question only to have theres given to them already to go in a bag and to top it off when we asked for a takeaway menu we were told they didn’t have any and were RUDE never in my life have I ever been so singled out both myself and my partners experience was not a good one at all I will never attend this restaurant again poor service unfriendly and rude

The food was delicious, best Chinese food I've ever had! Brilliant service and really good value. Some of the individual items look more expensive than a normal take away but so so worth it! The quality was great and the portion sizes were really good too. I dined in and the presentation of the food was lovely too. Thank you for a great evening!

Popped in to get a take away and they were reasonably quick in producing the food, which I took home to eat. Reasonable quality well cooked

On a 120 mile journey and 64 miles into this stopped off to what was my local Chinese, before moving to Suffolk. Was very disappointed as there was no available seats for the two of us in the restaurant. So opted for takeaway. Fantastic Greeting from the staff and 'Micky' They were so busy they couldn't stop to talk! When I was given our order I thanked Micky and said that we are taking it back to Suffolk! he was surprised and said it would be cold by then! I said 'that is what microwaves are for!' It was still very warm and tasted as good as ever. The place looked spotless. The Food was great. The value was fantastic.

I lived in Stanford-Le-Hope from 2016 to 2017 and was lucky enough to find this gem of a restaurant. I have since moved back to North London however still make a point of getting the train and making the several hour journey each way just to get to Kong’s as the food is literally just that good it’s worth travelling for. I’ve found nothing even close to as good even in Chinatown. Their duck is amazing, and their sizzling fillet of beef is spectacular. I can not recommend enough. The staff are down to earth and friendly. One of the best restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of eating in.

Bought a recent take away, was better this time feisty shredded chilli beef and a prawn king po. Still hot when I got it home

Really good food, with lots of choices on the menu. Staff were great. Would highly recommend visiting. Reasonably priced.

We’d like to say a huge thank you for catering for a large number due to a family party. Although a little chaotic with ordering and that was made by us, the staff were completely attentive, everyone was fed and topped up with drinks The food was freshly prepared, hot and delicious there was not one person out of us that wasn’t happy. What was left over, and it wasn’t a lot was put in a takeaway for us. Definitely a place to try.

Very nice inside the restraurant , very friendly staff, nice meal. Could have a tidy up in the car park, side and front of the restraurant .

Rang to book a table and was told there was now a two tier seating plan on a Saturday night which meant you either went at 6.30 or 8.30pm . We wanted to eat at 7 - 7.30 which they said they could not do. So we didn't bother. We tried the following Saturday to just turn up and see if we could get a table and a very due woman turned us away. So since then, we have not been to Kongs and don't intend to either. Can't stand rude people when you are trying to give them business.

Great crispy chilli beef, but the special fried rice was abysmal. It was indeed large, but that was totally about the amount of rice not protein. You really need to focus upon contents and flavour not just volume

We love to eat at Kongs and have done over many years, but they are letting the standards drop.The outside of the building is very poor and the railings at the front are rotten and they glass frontage filthy.Please, please get a grip many people agree, take a look

We felt the food was not freshly cooked, the portions were small and expensive. Staff were un friendly and made us feel rushed. Ladies toilet is small and not very clean. They have a large round table for large gatherings, which is a good idea.

Four of us ate here tonight in the early evening and we had a pleasant experience. The food, as ever, was amazing - I thoroughly recommend the Thai green curry with king prawns and special fried rice, which were cooked to perfection. The meals were served quickly, were reasonably priced and of generous proportions - not one of us could find room for desserts! Thank you for a lovely meal. See you again soon.

The food here is always good and I have been a few times. The staff are not as friendly and efficient as i would like but this is probably the culture.

Visited with a group of friends on a Saturday night. Food was great and very tasty. We went for the b and c options and had more than we could eat.

My sister in law booked this place as it's somewhere she frequently visits. It's a small restaurant that also has a busy take away section to the business. My first impression was that it looked lovely inside: very clean and nicely decorated with white walls, splashes of red here and there and leather high-backed chairs which were comfortable. Our slot was 5:30pm sharp until 8pm as they had a later booking who would occupy the round table we were seated at however this was a perfect amount of time to eat and chat. The restaurant filled up around 6:30 and because there was a constant turnaround of clientele, it was packed out the whole time we were there. The food was quite reasonable. To start with, I had chilli squid which was cooked perfectly followed by the mixed chow mein and a mushroom dish which they adapted for me as I preferred a garlic sauce instead of the black bean. Other people in my group omitted various ingredients from their dishes such as beansprouts which was no trouble at all. I plan to return to this restaurant after Christmas as it is a lovely place to eat and the atmosphere is warm.

Honestly normally the best around but they have really let me down tonight. Firstly had to wait longer than quoted when collecting my takeaway order (waited 50 mins) Then gets home to find we had food missing and what we did have was burnt.

The restaurant was smaller than we expected, but it is nicely decorated and clean. The food was tasty, the portions are a good size. The service was good, you are not rushed to finish your meal and did not have very long waits between courses.

Visited on Saturday with friends. Had a lovely meal, food is very good but the drinks are over priced. We paid £18.90 for a bottle of dry white house wine, the wine was nice but not worth that price. We will probably go again but not for a while. Food comes up nice and hot and well presented and the staff are friendly.

We drove from laindon to corringham to kongs and to be honest it wasn't worth the drive there and back .The drinks prices are overpriced to begin with and not a great selection of beers /cider and only small bottles apart from Carlsberg draught.The starters not bad price and value but main meals are overpriced but if you like onions and beansprouts you will be in heaven because the mains are mainly made up of them especially special chow mein ,chau sou pork and sizzler steak was full with onions and spring onions nothing else.Wont be going back sorry

Decidió llevar comida, eligió dos platos de arroz, curry y algunas uno de los platos era el pollo tailandés verde. Absolutamente horribles, el plato no gusto nada como un curry verde tailandés. El pollo estaba empezando a salir, mi esposa pensó que habían cocinado en queso parmesano. Como estábamos visitando el área no tuve tiempo de ir y quejarse personalmente.

5 of us booked for a meal last Sunday, we had a fantastic table in the window, the food was cooked quickly and the service was great. The food was everything and more, worth every penny. I've never had such great tasting Chinese food. Lovely fresh, clean restaurant. I kept seeing the reviews on our local SS17 page on Facebook, so decided to try it myself. I will definitely be returning again and again. You can also order and collect food to take home. You can park at the rear of the restaurant.

Managed to get a table for 8, on a Saturday night, despite only booking a few days beforehand, which isn't usually a good sign, but all was ok. Nicely decorated, in a contemporary style. Wait staff not the most attentive, and we often had to call them over for drinks etc, when the place was quiet enough to offer a better service. We ordered a couple of set meals, to keep it simple, and the food was ok, without being exceptional. Plenty of it though. We were last to leave, and got the feeling they all wanted to eat (they were all but sat down at a food-laden table nearby), and go home. We didn't keep them waiting too much longer. All in, we paid around £40 per head with tip, and we did get through some Sauvignon between us, so fairly priced really. Wouldn't rush back, mainly because the food is so "unextraordinary."

Food is lovely compared to take aways in surrounding areas, lovely to eat in as well as take away, you do pay more but you will notice the different in taste etc

Not often sat in to eat but the takeaway, is ti die for. Family og the Great Hong Kong Stanford, but cooked differently. If that way then I will call in for takeaway. Great service.

we have been to kongs several times to dine in and had plenty of take aways over the past couple of years,so please take this review as dated 12/02/16 i would not know where to start ohhh starters duck seemed full of water and a bit tasteless,mixed d'oeuvres chicken hard,prawn toast same,rib not good,we had kung po chicken as a main this normally comes with a nice crisp batter and nice flavours but these was way to overpowering and was soft soaked for to long,egg fried was clumpy didn't seem the same either,we tried the tom yum ho fun thai style noodle,wow we tried a mouthful each and could not believe it starchy,sloppy,top cooked underneath pale white noodles,put it this way more went in the bin,what has happened never did i think i would be chucking nearly full containers of kongs away,so hope they turn this around but will not know for at least a year gonna take a while to get over this(this was a takeaway)

They normally only have two seating times, but the food and service is always great. Plenty of food for your money.

Sorry wrote a great review on this restaurant but it's gone down so much food some of it came out cold young guy who served us left us with a dirty table brought out the desert menu I asked does Tom still work here he said that he has his own restaurant and took the menu back without talking our order sorry Tom's gone so has this restaurant !!!

Good, well priced lunch menu with decent sized portions. The dinner menu is OK - the food is good but in my opinion a little overpriced. A reasonable replacement for Jades (the Chinese down the road that shut a couple of years ago) but not quite as good. The service is very good, the waiters are helpful and attentive. Getting in touch outside meal times, to book a table for example, can be tricky.

I have been going to this Restaurant for several years and it is starting to decline, the waiters/waitresses look bored, it seems to becoming just a 'take away' the outside area is a disgrace, weeds, 2 round tables clearly for use of smokers with their ashtrays, which incidentally you look out onto. No atmosphere anymore....shame, try and get this back where is once was...

My friends recommended this place so on my birthday we went. The staff were very friendly until my food arrived. I had already explained to the staff at the beginning of ordering that I was vegetarian. The waiter brought my spring rolls they looked different. I told the waiter he denied it for at least 5 mins even when my meat eater friends agreed with me and tasted it. He went back to the kitchen and finally agreed that they had made a mix up in the fridge. Needless to say I couldn't eat anymore of my meal. The waiter only refunded the 'veggie' spring rolls.Add to all this on my birthday their portions are tiny and very expensive. A pretty restaurant but one I won't be visiting again

Unfortunately our usual Chinese takeaway was closed for their summer holiday so I looked on trip advisor and read reviews and thought we would give Kong's a go.We ordered our usual takeout believing that it couldn't be much different......how wrong could we be, it cost more, was in smaller portions, it was greasy, fatty and the squid was undercooked. it was a great disappointment as we only have a take out once in a while and would never use this takeout again.

Visited with my wife after a hectic day, the food was lovely especially the Beef or Lamb in black pepper. Waiter and waitress are very attentive and look after you well. Overall a great dinning experience.

The menu gives lots of apparent excitement but it doesn't quite live up to its promise.The food is ok but not exciting, it's a shame because there are some great ideas on the menu but when served they just don't press that button!

The food is o.k. albeit a little pricey but the main problem is the service. There is no welcoming feeling, no atmosphere, no attention during the meal and the staff seem as though they couldn't really care whether you were there or not. I have tried this place several times over the last few years and it has always been the same so it wasn't just a 'one-off'. The wine list is also very limited but I could put up with that if the service was o.k. I certainly don't feel inclined to go back which is a shame.

Wouldn't be bothered to go back. Over priced for what we got, you know when you think I've half been ripped off. King prawn starter wasn't king prawns. Prawn small portion, main pork dish was five odd slices. Best I can say, decent pint

I love this place. The quality of food is stunning and the portion sizes are generous. What you get for your money is worth every penny and the chilli chicken is a great side dish. Ribs and the chicken curry is sweet with a little spice making them different from other Chinese restaurants in the area. There's not much to say about this place. Just go there and eat! You won't regret it.

Went to Kong's with friends and had a good time, nice meals I recommend the aromatic duck with pancakes , staff friendly the price is a little bit above some restaurant's in the area but is don't let put you off as I sure you will enjoy it

We often have family celebrations here or the odd cheeky takeaway. Whatever the case, the food is always excellent and the service is great. The restaurant has a cozy and contemporary feel.

We had a very large take away order (£100) which was for a birthday celebration at home I had been to the restaurant an hour before I needed it to make sure that it was ready in time for my guests arrival. I had explained everything and said that I would come back in 1 hour to pick it up.I arrived after 55 mins to collect my food but was told it wasn't ready yet and would be a few minutes. After about 7 or 8 mins another chap came in to pick up a phoned in order which he got after about 4 or 5 mins wait. This really annoyed me as I know that when I first went in to place my order I was their first customer and they weren't doing any cooking at that time. (You can see and hear the people in the kitchen) I finally got my food 15 -16 minutes after I had ordered it for. I made my displeasure known to the chap behind the bar/counter and was given a bottle of wine as a good will gesture. I have eaten there on numerous occasions their food is excellent . A bit more expensive than the usual chines takeaways but worth it. So if you are wanting a takeaway from Kongs give them loads of time. It is a pity that they don't deliver.

First time visit and was impressed with decor. Good range of choices on the menu and prompt service. Food was attractively served, well presented and tasted good. Would definitely return.

Visited with family and I been here several times. Great food. Very diffent in variety from your bog standard Chinese restaurant. The cooking is of a much higher standard which accounts for the price difference when compared with other Chinese standard restaurant. Highly recommended

When we sat down at the table, I looked at the dishes other people had ordered and have to say all the food looked very appetising. My wife and I ordered Hot & Sour Soup, which was very good and for mains, my wife had a Pork dish with Special Fried Rice and I had Chicken Curry with Egg Fried Rice. All the dishes were very good. We only ordered soft drinks so I did not look at the Wine List. The restaurant is smart but I do have two issues. Firstly, it is quite small, with tables close together and you can more or less hear everything others are saying. I don't have an issue with noise, but in bigger restaurants it tends to be a general 'buzz' that adds to the atmosphere. The wooden flooring doesn't help the noise issue. Secondly, the lighting could be toned down to create a better environment to relax in.Irrespective of the above, I will use their takeaway service as I really enjoy their food.

One of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever been to! Quit small inside, very clean and the staff are friendly and attentive.The food is lovely and fresh tasting not at all greasy like some Chinese food can be, although it's not the cheapest place to eat I think considering the quality of the food and the service you get what you pay for so it's well worth it.

We went there with friends, at the weekend. I doubt if it was even half-full. I think they rely heavily on their takeaway service, as people were coming and going all night. Small place; nicely decorated, with only around 30/40 covers, which meant that the service was great. We went for one of the set meals, which was a cop-out on our part, but I've never seen so much food! And finally; it seemed a bit odd when all the staff set out a table next to us, and started munching away! I'd have preferred it if they'd waited 'til we'd gone. After all is said and done, I find it hard to get too enthused about eating in a Chinese restaurant; it's more of a takeaway choice for me.

Very good food. Cooked well above your local takeaway. I think it is just a bit pricey. But I will return.

Kongs on Lampits hill is probably the best Chinese cuisine restaurant the I have had the pleasure to dine in. We have been there 4 times now and now know what to expect. Slightly more expensive than your usual Chines restaurant but the quality of the food and the service fully justifies the small extra cost. It is done out in a very modern and smart plain style. Nice and clean in the dinning area and also in the toilets. The atmosphere is subdued and quiet, I go to eat not dance.A lovely place to go with your special person for a good meal

We went here over Easter with friends.. Would recommend the crispy lamb with lettuce and chicken satay starter. The only dish which I would say needed improving was the prawns in yellow bean sauce which was very sweet to the point that we left it. Like others I would say little atmosphere. Service was attentive though.

Four dishes eaten on two visits. The Polynesian princess was lacking a little in scallops but otherwise not bad. Udon noodles with duck was nice but SWIMMING in grease. Udon with King Prawn was well cooked and hot but the noodles were tasteless! Hot and Sour soup lovely!Needs a bit more care to bring the ratings up. The prices don't sadly reflect the food, to justify the prices it needs better flavours and more care with preparation.Great potential, just not currently realised!

I did not expect that this restaurant will have such a good standard. They serve Chinese, Thai and Korean dishes. The presentation of the dishes and of the layout of the restaurant is good. The dishes were well cooked and spiced. It is not overpriced. They also cook for take away but they do not do delivery. I would go back here.

Went there on the spur of the moment to celebrate my partner's birthday. It was a Tuesday with football on the TV so it was quite quiet in the restaurant. The staff were attentive but not "in your face". They were very obliging when we requested a slight variation on one of their set menus. The food was excellent. Good quality and served hot. Even the lemon finger bowl after the starter was hot which I found most unusual. I have seen a couple of poor reviews on this restaurant and can only conclude that the writer caught them on a bad day or was over critical. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant as a well above average reasonably priced suburban Chinese restaurant.

Great food, good service, bit pricey..... probably would be busier in the week if they had a better price plan, especially monday tuesday wednesday and thursday nights. over all great experience but with money as it is, bit of a hit on the pocket. been many times can recommend to anyone who loves good chinese , the duck is to die for, warning if you have it as take away, request duck in one piece, i found you get the crap if they prep it!!

The food is excellent and the place is very clean.The young staff need to be more aware of their customers' needs. They are not very attentive.A little bit of appropriate ambient music would be good to cover up the voices of those customers who converse so loudly and it's so difficult to blank them out.
