My go to japanese restaurant! Quality is always exceptional. If I was rich I'd be eating from koishii every night.

Cold, stodgy food, 45 minutes late even though it was pre ordered 2 hours prior to requested delivery

Was registered as delivered when it wasn’t but they had called me to explain the situation and to say they didn’t have all my order in stock. But they checked what I would like and the food was delicious. Very good would order again despite the minor issues.

Shocked with the delivery time. Ordered at 17:48. Due to arrive at 18:55 at the latest. It arrived at 20:08! We were given a couple of complimentary beers, but we don't drink alcohol! Genuinely so upset that I'm literally prioritising writing this complaint instead of eating right now (so won't rate the food), and it's my 30th birthday! :(

The noodles were cold which is a shame as I love ordering here

Very disappointed with the food. The chicken katsu don was okay but nothing to rave about. The real problem for me was the tori kara age and the chicken wings. They were both so salty to the point it was inedible. Even with the sauce that came with it the salt was just over powered it. Most probably won’t order again.

Literally my favourite sushi place in Plymouth!! The menu is amazing, and the service & staff are always super friendly. The interior is simple but clean & cosy. Food is always delicious - I cannot fault any food I have had there. The portions are great for the price. Please be advised that I have only ever eaten inside the restaurant - I have never had takeaway. I cannot recommend this place enough - it is SO underrated! :)

Fantastic food and quick delivery

Food was luke warm. Very average tasting, £91 worth of food barely fed 3 of us, small portions .

Food was mainly delicious, but this is the second time we've had pork substituted for chicken in a dish, despite this time leaving a message saying that if food had to be substituted to not use pork please. Restaurant offered a replacement and apologised, no issues with their service or the rest of the food, but they need to make sure they send what is listed in the dish or agree the substitution first.

The delivery was on time, but the sushi was extremely disappointing. 1. When I started eating I could immediately tell that the sushi rice tasted off. After a while I realised that there was no vinegar in the rice and I was only eating plain white rice! Vinegar is a basic ingredient in sushi-making and it should never be omitted. 2. The neta (ingredients) on the sushi were so thin that they broke when I tried to pick the sushi up. Also because they were sliced so thin, I could barely taste the fish. 3. The spicy tuna was far too salty compared with the spicy tuna I've eaten in other places. I think it had been marinated for too long. 4. The amount of soy sauce and wasabi included was generous, but the wasabi wasn't fresh, as it tasted very bland (fresh wasabi would be very spicy). This is the first time I ordered sushi from Koishii but this was disappointing. I will go back to Oishi Sushi.

Ordered Katsu udon soup but received no udon.

Tofu stir fry tasted alot like water, the pork was nice though, also missing items off my order.

Took over an hour, nothing tasted of anything much or very fresh (aside from very vinegary dip)

Had some sushi for takeaway. Delicious hand rolls. Fresh fish and creamy avocado. Would recommend for both dine in or takeout.

Haven't eaten everything yet, their unagi is very flavorful, their tako yaki is lovely and creamy, their gyoza is perfectly cooked and seasoned - I got the bento gyoza which came with rice. They gave a complimentary miso soup, I had ordered another version of the soup which had tofu and seafood and the tofu fell apart in my mouth. Idk what I was expecting from green tea ice cream but it was still very sweet with mild notes of green tea.

Everything far too salty, couldn't taste anything but salt. Katsu chicken was soggy, very expensive for such poor food. Really disappointed.

Extremely disappointed and let down by our once favourite Japanese in Plymouth. We've ordered from here for going on 8 years both collection and eating in, the food has always been great but our order today has been both incorrect and the response I got from the manager when I called up to discuss it was disgusting!! We ordered our usual that does not include any shellfish as my partner is highly allergic. Our order always has salmon and avo cut rolls for my partner due to his allergy, I didn't mention this when order as I know nothing I order contains any sort of shellfish and I only have duck and/or chicken so know there is no risk of cross contamination for him. I called up and placed the order as usual, paying in full over the phone. Our order arrives and I see that we've been given california rolls which of course contain crab which is a shellfish which means he's very allergic to it. I call the restaurant to let them know of the error and see how they will rectify it, a very polite young girl answered and a very helpful, she said she'd get the correct order out to us and took our address. I then receive a call back from the restaurant and its a male who is on the other end, he tells me they will not be bringing out our order unless we pay for delivery of £5. He also tells me that I am wrong and ordered california rolls not salmon and avocado, i explain I know I made no mistake due to the allergy of my partner and how I've ordered the exact same as i have done for the past 8 years. He proceeds to scream at me down the phone telling me I am wrong, I will not be getting any refund even if we bring the food back because 'he is right' and wrote down the order on his hand and is 'not wrong'. I asked to speak to the manager to which he explained he is the manager and proceeded to shout at me about how the hospitality industry isn't a charity, I explained I also work in the industry and who would never speak to a customer in such a way. Again explaining why the order was wrong due to my partners allergies and how I know I didn't order the shellfish he continued to shout more about how he didn't and wouldn't of made a mistake and I am wrong and will not be getting a refund or even an apology. I have never been so disgusted and disappointed by a restaurant and we unfortunately will never be returning due to the horrible way we've been treated by the so called manager of Koishii plymouth.

Food was very tasty. Salmon wasn't nice tasted almost out of date. Very fishy smell. Everything else was good

I ordered two same sushi, salmon with avocado, but I received one salmon/avocado but the other one salmon/avocado/fish eggs around rice… Plus my child had little sushi with cucumber and two peaces where put next to cucumber sushi.. it’s tasted like fish eggs… I’m unhappy because I didn’t get what I ordered + delivery time was way too long + not good idea to mix sushi together. Unhappy customer.

Not up to the normal standard, sushi lacked flavour, tempura did not stick and too many end pieces for what was ordered, therefore no filing!

Miso soup was tasteless and cold, ramen was tasteless, the hand rolls were much smaller than ones we have had elsewhere, the food was very muddled when it was delivered so I was unable to eat some of mine as it was covered in wasabi and I don't like wasabi. I had a salmon teriyaki bento box though which was very tasty, sadly the only redeemable thing about our entire meal.

Tasty food, well cooked Though not a fan of chicken thighs which is what the meat predominantly was.

The food was really tasty but there was no veg in the dishes. That may not be an issue but it’s what we like do just to advise

The eel and crab both taste very fresh and the quality of the food as a whole was perfect my only concern is there is a pot of some kind of broth that came with it which wasn’t in the description of what I ordered and I didn’t order it, i believe it comes with the food but I’m unclear. Could do with extra information about that for people who aren’t Japanese I wanted to try it and I enjoyed it and will order again for sure but the pot of unknown broth or liquid did confuse me

Didn't receive three quarters of the order

Ordered in just 2 items and it was £24, It was 15 mins late arriving yet nearly 20 minutes before that it had said it was out with the driver.As a consequence it was cold , wasn’t really suitable food to reheat as it’s Japanese, but had a taste and it was ok but genuinely mediocre and I’m not a fussy eater or a moaning customer (very easy to please). Money wasted on cold food, disappointed as it was our first time and shan’t bother again. Good food and good delivery sells! The high number of bad reviews which are over half as many as the good says it all. Value your customers or you won’t have any.

Normally we have miso soup and there wasn't any, also the edamame beans looked like they had been just microwaved, normally they taste like they have been blanched with a bit of butter. Different chef? Change of supplier?

Not up to the usual standard, gyozas weren’t very warm and the edges were hard and crispy. Sushi was good. Ginger was pickled carrot?! Delivery driver lovely x

Awful experience. Food over an hour late. Told 30 mins food had left restaurant and still not at house. Exceptionally rude staff who were complaining before hanging up phone.

Tonkatsu isn’t freshly cooked. It was reheated, so pork is tough and chewy. It should be call be Tonkatai (tough pork) instead of Tonkatsu (pork cutlets).

Food was delivered on time but cold when it arrived. The nigiri were almost fridge cold actually. I've been wanting to try this restaurant's food for a long time but it isn't worth the price and unfortunately not that great in my opinion.

Completely ignored the delivery instructions of calling my phone number when outside my flat. Instead texted me (which I didn’t receive) and then when I called them to ask what was going on, they told me I hadn’t been waiting outside (which I had) and sent me cold food. To really top it off the delivery driver made sarcastic quips about waiting. Extremely poor customer service, food was average and cold. Portion sizes could be better for price.

We visited in November 2022 for a dine-in meal. Having pre booked a table we arrived and received a friendly greeting, shown to a nice table by the window. Table was semi-traditional, quite low and bench style seating. Menus were brought over and we had a peruse through the vast choices. The drinks menu was also extensive and inexpensive, with a small glass of red wine starting from £3.95. We opted for Japanese Plum wine at £6.95 a glass - small but potent! Our server returned and took our order. Had to check with the kitchen a couple of times when we had questions about the food. Complimentary miso soup was brought over which was delicious. We then waited around 15 minutes and 2 portions of gyozas were brought out. However, we had only ordered 1 portion to share but the server had thought we wanted 5 portions of gyozas (5 per portion) - we would have ended up with 25 gyozas! We sent the extras back... Then another 15 minutes passed and my partner's sushi roll was brought out. Well constructed and delicious I'm told. But I had ordered a katsu curry, and this took a further 20 minutes to arrive. We asked for a tap water and this was taken to another table Whilst delicious food, the lack of organisation and the meals all coming out with significant delays rather than together was detrimental to the evening. We received an apology as we paid for 'how hectic' it had been, but there were no more than 5 tables dining (less than a quarter full) so I don't know how they would cope if they were really busy! To sum up 5 star food but unfortunately a 3 star experience 🙁

Ordered before and the food was nice. Ordered this time, half the food was missing, applied for a refund but because the food didn’t arrive someone didn’t have their dinner and someone had to share half of theirs so although a refund is due, it wasn’t sufficient. The tempura scallops were almost flavourless, however the quality of scallops was incredible. Very good quality food but unfortunately a lot of it was flavourless. I just feel because it’s sushi which is on the more expensive side, I would really like for the flavour to be ace and to receive all of the food. I appreciate it’s Saturday and they’re probably busy but I’d hope for a better outcome.

Ordered the bento box that normally comes in a nice rectangular box but all came in separate containers. Food was ok. Small portions. Not great value for money as I was still hungry after I ordered a starter and main course to eat.

2 hour wait for food, poor communication from the restaurant. Will not be returning.

Food was good, we order from here a lot and spend a lot of money, it's always good. But they are very poor when it comes to delivery, never keep you updated, never seems to be on time. Whatever time Justeat gives you, add at least half an hour

Driver was rude and obnoxious when asked why it was late. Then drove away aggressively. Food was ok but sweaty from the heat of the day.

Food hasn't arrived. Woman answered said he left the restaurant to deliver but clearly hasn't. Waited for sushi for 2 hours for nothing to arrive. DO NOT ORDER. Thank you for taking my money.

The food here is always good, but on this occasion I ordered the tonkatsu which is usually to die for, but was very shocked to discover that the katsu sauce was missing, felt genuinely heart broken

With due respect, I have to make some others aware that: The food has no taste and of the worst quality, very small portions for the price you pay, it does not justify what I paid for what I received. I have never been so disappointed. I paid 60£ and I haven’t consumed not even 1/4 as have no taste. Shame

Was disappointed with the flower sashimi as it had been allowed to get warm with the other order. Maybe drivers should be made aware that some should not be heated up with other parts.

The food and service was excellent! It was very friendly and efficient. I would certainly go back. The bowl of miso soup provided whilst waiting for the meal was a welcome surprise on a cold day. I ordered chicken katsu and was really pleased with it - well cooked with good quality and quantity. The menu was interesting with a good range of options. So why not 5 stars? The bikes parked in the restaurant is something I've never encountered before and did nothing to contribute to a pleasant atmosphere. And then, going past the bikes, the toilets were down a dingy, poorly lit staircase before reaching a shoddy room. Sorry, this was poor. But, to repeat, the food and service was good enough for me to happily eat here again.

Myself and my partner ordered takeaway here and came to collect it. It was not ready yet so we ordered some ice tea whilst we waited. Within 10 minutes the food was ready and when it came to settle up for the drink they said it was free due to us having to wait a little bit. This was very kind. The spring sushi set was delicious and we will definitely return!

I ordered for takeaway, kept it simple -‘d went for a salmon sashimi and roll. The quantity of the sashimi was appalling and the roll was poor quality. Probably the worst sushi I’ve ever had.

Night in, roaring fire, full bodied red and UHD cup rugby. Ordered from Koishii. Slightly complicated ordering. They deliver themselves. Arrived earlier than expected. Hot. Vegetable tempura was half tasteless tofu cubes and there were also some prawn although the sauce helped a lot. It came with a container of a kind of soup maybe with aubergine. My mushroom kebab was OK although again some surplus tofu had crept in. The chicken was alright but overall the meals were just about fit for our needs at the moment. Adequate rather than tasty and fun.
