Ko-Wah in Medway

The food would be fine except that it was all far too sweet. We shared four different mains, and each one seemed to have a lot of added sugar. It is not needed, and makes savoury dishes taste sweet and sickly. We won't return for more.

Delicious food, however, awful awful phone order service! Please train your staff to be polite on the phone, and not condescending. Was trying to order, but she kept repeating the wrong item and trying to rush to put the phone down!

We normally use Fairview chinese which is always excellent. But for a change and because of some friends recommended the Ko Wah we thought we would give it a go. Unfortunately we were very disappointed, sesame chicken was tasteless and some of the chicken was burnt. The egg fried rice was stodgy. Whilst the Singapore rice noodles were spicy hot again they lacked flavour. The best part of our meal was the chicken balls but the satay sauce that we order with them was watery sweet and not very nice. Sadly we won't be going back.

Haven't had a takeaway from here in 3 years as last one I had was awful...... Thought I'd give it a go again to support local restaurants.....I Won't be back again,chicken in yellow bean sauce with cashew nuts was glupy and smelt terrible, beef in curry rubbery / chewy

Placed my last order with Ko Wah tonight. Was the 2nd order I've placed, amongst other items was half a crispy duck. I've ordered it before and that was fine, it comes pre-shredded in 2 foil containers (everywhere else on the bone). Tonight's delivery had so little duck in it, nowhere near half a ducks worth and certainly not worth £18!! The duck was dry like it had been reheated, so they can't even say they cut it from the bone, shred and place in containers. I spent nearly £50 tonight, I'm so disappointed with Ko Wah and feel conned. From now on when ordering crispy duck from other Chinese takeaways I'll be asking if it's on the bone, it's the only way you know you get what you pay for and if it's not on the bone I won't be ordering it.

Have used ko wah for over 30 years and rated it the best but sadly its not anywhere near as good ..less meat in dishes...curry sauce lacks flavor and has changed even prawn crackers very oily...will give one more try if better will remove this post just feel they are better than this!

Have used this takeaway three times now and enjoyed all the dishes. There are seats to sit and wait, free soft drink if you spend over a certain amount and most importantly you can pay with cards unlike most of the Chinese restaurants around Gillingham. Decent size portions. At early evening time (7:15), it only took 5 minutes to get an order of 7 dishes so fast service too

Totally disgusting will never use again £40 down the drain Chips so hard and all little bits, soup (dishwater) not edable, Curry well not taste just spice Chopsuey bland.. Avoid

Disappointing. We ordered a few bits from here, our usual chinese order, but sadly it just wasn’t up to scratch. The Chow Mein was dry, flavourless and just not very good. The curry sauce was also flavourless, so my girlfriends meal was quite bland. I also found my meal to be really high in salt, so much that I woke up dehydrated in the middle of the night! Still, it’s all down to personal preference, it just wasn’t ideal for us. I’m sure plenty of other people enjoy food from here, it’s just not my cup of tea!

We use this place as its literally across the road, but I think we need to stop getting the meal deals, we've had a couple now that have been OK. The place however is always busy with customers and drivers and the phone ringing non stop which is good to see,the staff are brilliant and always always courteous, it's good to see that as a face to face customer you take priority and those on the phone are asked politely can they wait.

First time ordering tonight after seeing it during a trip to pick up for a kebab one lunchtime and I was a bit worried because we are quite far (just over 4 miles) but I needn’t have worries. Lady was very polite and helpful on the phone when placing the order. Food was delivered by a really nice guy and it was piping hot. Portion sizes are good and so was the quality and flavour. Really good first time experience ordering from here and it won’t be the last time

OK at best. Kung po King prawn was just prawns in sweet and sour sauce and not spicy at all. Kung po is supposed to be a spicy stir fry dish. Singapore noodles were over cooked and had a burnt taste to them, all in all very disappointing food. Staff were very happy and friendly is the only plus.

Always come to Ko Wah for Chinese no others in the area compare! Even now we’ve moved 30 minutes away we still come here

They have added some new dishes over the years but the menu has been cooked the same. The chicken satay still comes on skewers. Why travel all that way to cause a fuss. Those who know know.

Our favourite Chinese Takeaway in the Medway Towns by a country mile. Be prepared to wait as this is an extremely popular outlet, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. Deliveries in particular can take ages, but the wait is well worth it.

Called to say this and got "that is what they come with" they lady just kept repeating this to me. I then explained it was asked completely plain, got called a liar then she hung up! I rang again she hung up again! A third time she answered and nothing said she didnt have time for this. No of course she didnt she already had my money!! No good will no offer of any sort!! Extremely rude

Had a delivery this past week and I must say the food wasn't disappointing. Probably the best Chinese food I have tasted for a while.

Best Chow Mein, and I've tried a few...! Convenient, local, delivery service tends to always be at least an hour, as they seem quite popular and busy, so just as easy to collect. Competitive prices.

Best Chinese been using this take away for years

Used to use another chinese takeaway but used this as my usual one was closed and was very impressed

No need to flower this up. There are good and bad take aways and this is one of the best. If you need further evidence order on a Friday and see how long the wait is and how many people are sat waiting for their food inside. People vote with their feet.

Use this chinese frequently for our meals and have never ever had a bad meal. Food always piping hot and very tasteful dishes cooked. Downside is you can be waiting a while for your order but this is only because of our popular they are, and the repeat custom they get. Its all worth the wait fir the foid which is dished up..

The first time we've used this takeaway. Wow! Lovely hot delivered food to my front door. The special Ko Wah curry was absolutely delicious and the crispy beef was huge ! Yummy salt and pepper squid with gorgeous crispy green chillies. Compliments to the chef's and all staff.Such a happy delivery driver too. Thank you Ko Wah , I don't have to travel far now to get great food.

I've been using this Chinese takeaway ad hoc when I have friends over, for about a year now. I have never had a dodgy meal and all the food is flavoursome. I think it's reasonably priced and always appears busy. I always ring up and collect so cannot comment on what delivery is like. Very friendly family run establishment and always very polite. A good and varied menu with specials. I would recommend this takeaway to others. The downside is the parking. You may be lucky enough to get in the bay a few metres along outside the post office, but don't hold your breath. Best park up a side street and walk.

There aint alot i can say for tasteless food. Other then there is a kebab shop across the road.think i will use that instead

I feel like death right now because of the food from here, it used to be good but has gone downhill massively! I won't eat here again as I'd rather nail my balls to Justin Beibers forehead and wear him for a scrotum! I punched a little random Chinese kid out of anger all because of this place! You need to change the names of your dishes after last nights performance, the hot and sour soup should be called 'warm and bland liquid' crispy chilly beef should be 'soggy tasteless dog' and Kung pow king prawn needs to be 'you got mugged right off mate' ..... The chopsticks were very nice though, very enjoyable to eat off!

I'm a great liver of chinese curry. I truly believe you can judge a chinese take away on this dish alone. I've just finished a chicken curry from here and it was very good. The sauce is a little viscous for my liking, but superb flavour and real meat as opposed to squelchy meat!Also has a 5 star food hygiene rating which is less common in chinese restaurants.I'd certainly return.

They do the best Kung po chicken around! However delivery was very slow on last order. Think they forgot us as it arrived 25 mins after we called to chase it up! Delishous when it finally turned up though.

Have eaten from Kowah for many years and this restaurant has seriously gone downhill! Food was awful! And to make matters worse they reeled off back to me (in the shop) what I had ordered - and when I got home I discovered they hadn't put all the order in! And when I rang to complain, they suggested I drive all the way back (15 min drive) to pick the rest of the order up! There was no apology and they said they couldn't process a refund without the card being presented! Bad food and bad customer service! A restaurant to seriously avoid!!

Being new to tripadvisor I'm adding reviews to my most regular meal providers. Kowah is the best Chinese takeaway in Medway. My family have ordered from here for over 30 years. The chicken satay is unlike any other dry competition around, it comes in a delicious unique sauce which compliments the rest of your orders well. All dishes are at a high consistent quality. We will keep ordering from this Chinese take away for another 30+ years :)

Have eaten from there before but this time the food was awful. I rang to complain and was told that they had recently changed ingredients so that was why. They did apologise but offered nothing but to put a note to say next time we order they would change the rice to the type we prefer. This would be Egg fried rice instead of the stodgy mess we were delivered. As for the rest of the meal no explanation. We won't be ordering from them again.

I have used Ko-Wah on Watling Street for a number of years. The quality of the food has gone noticeably downhill and I will no longer be using this establishment. My wife and I recently ordered a curry and it was like water. A number of other people I know have also chosen to no longer use this establishment. I have recently used China Town Chinese takeaway and would be happy to recommend them.
