Knoops in Cheshire West and Chester

Overpriced and not even a nice drink. Hot chocolate at over £6 per cup. I expected to be blown away with the drink. I definitely wasn't and neither was my friend. A complete waste if money. So many coffee shoos in Chester so don't bother with this one and so disappointed

Up,out and about on a beautiful but bitterly cold February morning, my twin brother and I were exploring around this part of the city when we decided to drop by Knoops and what a great find. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here,interior is superb, light and airy, great decor and furnishings, a cool looking serving bar and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this cafe both inside and when the weather is good outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Northgate Street, its just a really good cafe to unwind in. We ordered a hot chocolate each, these were served steaming hot, we chilled out, warmed up and planned out the day ahead while sipping our hot chocolates. My chocolate drink was really good, a thick cream chocolate consistant from the first sip till the last sup, its was just the perfect start to our day out. We both really enjoyed our chocolate drinks in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to Knoops we had a great time. Knoops is easy to locate along Northgate Street, a street and area teeming with pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants and some amazing architecture and a major tourist destination. Opening hours are; Monday to Saturday, 9am till 8pm. Sunday, 9.30am till 8pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area or planning a trip to Chester.

Absolutely delicious hot chocolate which was so welcome on a bitingly cold day in Chester. The staff were kind and helpful, as the menu can at first seem a little overwhelming. The hot chocolate itself was the best I've ever had and well worth the price.

Excellent range of hot chocolates. I've been several times, and after some experimentation, found that the 64-66% Dark hot chocolates are ideal for me - but there will be something here to suit all tastes! And if hot chocolate isn't your thing, there are various other chocolate and coffee-based drinks too. For example, my partner had an iced milk chocolate drink. Our drinks were great quality and very enjoyable. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for!

Excellent service had the pleasure to be served by the wonderful young lady with pink hair, my 54% shake was made to perfection cannot suggest dropping in for a coffee enough much better than all these high streets coffee shops Starbucks and etc. Shame to see poor reviews considering you drinks are custom made to your liking? Just seems like people with poor taste get bitter and feel the need to complain

Knoops Chester is underwhelming. As noted by multiple reviewers, it's high end prices but the service is mediocre and the seating area, which is up a steep flight of stairs so inaccessible to many, is dark and bland. The lighting is too dark to read comfortably, and unless you're lucky enough to get one of the two tables with comfy seats, you're on hard wooden ones or stools. The vibe is a bit staff room. I've been twice and tried a 50% (too sweet and malty IMO) and an 80% (too bitter and a touch grainy) and both were so hot I burnt my tongue. I don't mind paying more for a good quality product in an inviting, comfortable environment, but Knoops Chester is not meeting expectations. I'll be surprised if it lasts a year.

On my first visit to Knoops I tried a simple chocolate milk, and chose 54% chocolate with cows milk and it was great! I had to come back! So a week later I revisited and tried a 34% chocolate milkshake and this is the best milkshake I’ve ever tried. Really clean and modern venue, the interaction is really good how you get to craft your own drink with what % chocolate you like is really good.

I went to visit for a chocolate drink the staff are so friendly, I went upstairs it was so so cosy on a rainy day. I would definitely recommend this place

You’ll only try it once for curiosity, but once you paid for it, you’ll never come back.Will not be surprised to see it close soon. Very expensive hot chocolate.

Tried Knoops for the first time today. The server was very helpful in walking us through the menu and helping us choose a drink. By far the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had. Establishment was clean and tidy. Yes it is expensive but still cheaper than any alcoholic drink at a pub!

Can't rate the drink as was never served! 3 staff at the counter. Two talking to each other, one looked like a manager who was on her phone. I was completely ignored. I waited. The manager walked off and didn't even make eye contact with me, and the two staff turned their backs to me and made a drink. Fourth member of staff noticed me - he was giving a customer their drink at the other end of the counter, I'm pretty sure he saw me but didn't smile or apologise or acknowledge me at all. It wasn't busy! Ignored. Ignored. Ignored. How much time does it take just to smile at a customer and let them know you'll be with them as soon as you can!! Went to Starbucks instead!

Whilst the staff were lovely and helpful I thought £14+ for two regular hot chocolate’s in paper cups somewhat pricey. The hot chocolate was ok but a paper cup! Access wise I would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues or with a pram/buggy, nearly all the seating is upstairs and there is no lift. There was one small table with a couple of stools by the door, otherwise it was just a few high stools with a shelf. As for the spice menu by the till, the lovely young man taking my order read it out to me as the writing was so small. This used to be a fish and chip cafe with a long serving and frying area but they still managed to have a good few tables downstairs, Knoops will miss out on a lot of less able customers but will no doubt do well with students and younger people.

Over priced and dirty This place is hmm overpriced and overrated. I’m not saying that the hot chocolate wasn’t nice but my mum had a hot chocolate and so did and and we shared an almond croissant and it was £17.59. Now to me that is expensive the hot chocolate was nice but it wasn’t that good. Upstairs there was 5 tables and 2 of them were completely filled with cups that nobody hadn’t moved and there wasn’t a bin close so you could get rid of them overall not the best place.
