A good spot with seating outside or inside. We visited here for tea and cake. Friendly service, lovely pot of tea and pretty bone china cups etc. Very moist carrot cake all at a reasonable price. Owners are chatty and friendly.

Unfortunately the breakfast was swimming in oil, the one small piece of bacon was over cooked. One staff member was friendly but the person taking our order made us feel like, we needed to hurry up. No customer skills involved and generally a poor experience. As one stated ok for tea or coffee but that’s about it. The actual tea room needed a good refurbished to be honest. I feel it has great potential under the right management. Never again at present status.

We cycled here because some loon on Google said the cream teas were "to die for". Don't believe it! When I entered the owner was sat at a table with her friends feeding her dog treats under the table with her fingers. She asked me abruptly if she could help me so I explained I was looking for some cream teas. She was quite rude - for example when politely asked if our our table could be cleared from the previous occupants I was told it was her day off! The plates, cups and tea pot were dirty. The scones were stale and reheated. The jam was cheap and gelatinous. And the cream had a thick skin on it! The whole place was run down. Overall, a very strange and disappointing experience!

It's ok for tea and coffee. Unfortunately, while on a previous visit I noticed that they were taking bookings for mother's Day so as a treat to my wife I booked us in. Bad idea and we should have turned around and walked out when we saw the 'chef' opening a bag of pre cooked beef and placing them on a plate with his fingers, followed by the 'frozen' roast potatoes. Still we stayed. The meal arrived and it was terrible. Four ' frozen ' roast potatoes. A mix of frozen veg and slices of beef. Basically an instant meal that I could have done better and far cheaper at home. The worst thing was that it was swimming in gravy. So we left most of it. This was followed by a thin slice of cake. We had 2 cans of coke, the 330ml ones. These were priced at £1.50 each. Served in the can. Altogether £37. Could have done this with products purchased from Iceland for around £8. Avoid it for meals

Fabulous food, freshly cooked and large portion. Batter was really light and the chips were yummy 😋.

Food is ok but please don't make plans to visit unless you are staying. This is now a B&B and you cannot eat here if you are not staying. Please note it is no longer a pub or Restaurant

We recently took our family visiting from the US to enjoy famous cream tea, hoping for a delightful experience but turned out to be quite the opposite. Firstly, the scones: They were crumbly and stale, tasting terrible. Far from satisfactory. Secondly, the price: We were charged a ridiculous £8.00 for one medium-sized scone with a little jam. The cream, although provided in substantial quantity, was not fresh either. This pricing for such low-quality food felt like a rip-off. To top it off, the iced latte with caramel tasted like iced water with a hint of sugar syrup. It lacked any real coffee flavour or latte or and was disappointing.

We stayed in the cottage suite which was exceptionally clean and tidy and beautifully presented. The host is friendly and helpful. Me and my wife will be returning.
