Klondyke Chinese Takeaway in Northumberland

I have heard some brilliant reviews in regards to Klondyke Chinese, I am not sure if it is due to a change in management but our order was practically inedible. We ordered crispy beef in chilli and honey and received rock solid pieces of batter we struggled to find any beef and it tasted burned greasy and refried.We also ordered pork in ginger and spring onion (the only thing we ate) the pork was well cooked and had quiet a fresh flavour we were disappointed by the slimy onions and small portion for price.We also decided to order sweet and sour battered chicken the chicken was good it wasn't greasy and we didn't mind it but the sweet and sour sauce was possibly the worst thing it was bright pink and was closer to cherry Ade than sweet and sour it was completely inedible ,overall I was really excited to order and was very dissapoined won't be ordering again .

Got a take away tonight, bland tasteless and beige , binned most of it, won’t be going there again, waste of money

Delicious as always. This is our go to takeaway. Polite staff. Reasonable prices. And a excellent menu to choose from.

When John retired and the new operator took over we continued to use Klondyke Chinese and found it very good, but of late it has gone downhill, used to enjoy the satay and chilli & garlic dishes, now the sauce on the satay is like water with nothing but onion and green pepper in the dish, the chilli & garlic is more spicy than it used to be, so much so it spoils the dish. It now appears to me a lot of the dishes are only onion and green pepper. This has happened since they got their Food Safety rating back up. Will not be using any more

Just had a take away (pickup was 10 minutes). Went to pick up straight away (2 minutes drive) was freezing cold and no taste what so ever. DISCUSTING.

This is now our regular Chinese. We are always pleased with our order and the munchy box is the best in our local area. The staff are brilliant and friendly.

I was dog sitting for my daughter , and don't belong cramlington,so I didn't know where the Chinese restaurants were. So I searched online , and this was the nearest ,so I ordered . I was told 40 mins , I got a phone call before 40 mins telling me he was outside , and he waited for 10 mins and I didn't answer , he was very arrogant, I wondered why it took him 10 mins to call me on the phone , and also my food was piping hot !! I gave him £20 which he snatched of me , and mumbled stuff under his breath , he gave me 90p and off he went !!! I was gobsmacked , £20 for an omelette chips and curry !!! I rang the Chinese and they sent him back with the £10 he took of me , without a single apology, he handed me the money then off !!!! the food was nice and it was piping hot , but if I was going to go again, I'd collect

After using this place for 30 odd years when John had it (amazing food), I did some research, read the reviews but thought give it a go, ordered beef curry and fried rice, very disappointing

It doesn't look much from the outside but don't let that put you off, good food, reasonable prices, nice phone manner & prompt delivery, what more can you ask for?

Go here at least twice a month new owners food lovely always fresh and hot delivery service available

So 1st time I've ordered since john left , got special in garlic sauce but had no garlic whatsoever!!!! Love garlic that's why I ordered it , not happy

Ordered crispy aromatic duck, received a bag of sloppy duck fat. Never tasted anything as disgusting. Main meals were bland and most of it ended in the bin. Such a shame as Wan built up this business over the years serving exceptional food. New owners clearly are not making any effort. That's us done with this take away now. PS even the dog didn't want to eat the duck fat....

My new favourite Chinese takeaway! I find the food very tasty and portions are a good size. Good delivery times. Prices are quite high but I find that Chinese food is getting more expensive everywhere.

This was absoloutly disgusting charsui curry n chips wouldn't feed it to my dog not be going back I used to go there 17 year ago when john had it I was pregnant his curry n chips were my fav not now so dissapointed

just had a takeaway from here , and can honestly say it was disgusting , wouldnt of fed it to my dog , or any living thing for that matter , i would STRONGLY advise anyone thinking of ordering from here not to even consider it , unless you are mad

Oredered a mixed grill a small piece of steak 1 sausage what looked like boiled bacon. We have been going a while now had to ring as some of the other order was missing. Food wasnt worth the wait or money

Turned up 30 mins late stone cold rang the owner she said she would take it back still waiting please avoid at all costs it's not something you want awful food

I had enjoyed a weekly takeaway from John for over 20 years till he closed 'due to illness'.. now its re-opened and under new management I can easily say I will not be using it again. I tried 3 different meals since it re-opened and have had to phone them twice for wrong orders - tonight I made it nice and simple and ordered special foo yung with fried rice .. that's what I got - but the speciality must have been lack of meat - I had 3 king prawns and a few slithers of meat which all tasted the same and to top it off the meal was luke warm ... goodbye Klondyke - hello Lotus house !!!!!!!!!!!

Have used this Takeaway for I don't know how many years.Not sure if it has been taken over but was closed for several months, now open again, I consider this the best in Cramlington, never had a bad or poor meal, nearly always phone my order in and in the main it will be ready in 10 mins, only when they are very busy will it take a little longer. Highly recommend for flavoursome Chinese food

So disappointed that this takeaway has changed hands. No where near as good as it used to be. The prawn, beef or chicken dishes used to be fantastic - now mainly filled out with onion and not so tasty. After having been a regular customer for several years, I won't be going back.

Just reopened after probably 12+months closed 'due to illness'. John appears to be no longer there and there are new shiney menus. However I think it has changed hands completely and not just family take over.I suggest you order by menu number as the man answering doesn't understand or speak very good English.No matter what you order it appears to get smothered in curry sauce.

We only use this Chinese and are never disappointed. Lovely food and he remembers our name when I ring my order,great customer service

Been a regular customer of this chinese for well over 20 yrs, love it, and highly recommend to anyone.

This has got to be the best Chinese around, it has been a few years for me since I had a meal from here as I have been away, but it was just as good as always, and I ordered over 60 quids worth of food. It was all excellent. If you are going to have a take away then you cannot do better than this restaurant. By the way service was also good. Top marks.

When visiting my partners grandparents in Cramlington this is the only takeaway we go to. The food here is delicious. The owner of the takeaway (John) is a lovely friendly man and always takes time in making conversation with you while you wait for your food, he's very polite and you can tell he takes pride in what he does. I believe John has been here for quite some years now and still has many customers coming in and out everyday so he must be doing something right! This Chinese takeaway stands out its none of that processed stuff like every other place tends to do, it's fresh and mouth watering, the only thing I can fault on is the niceness of the chips vary, and sometimes they're cold however this could be from walking back home... The takeaway itself is very clean and this is shown from the hygiene rating on the wall, would highly recommended people to visit here if in Cramlington, never disappointed.

I've been going to John's takeaway since I like forever. It's always been one of the best takeaway joints in Cramlington and serves the best chicken I've ever had from a takeaway. John has always been the owner since I've been going, bearing in mind that I'm 19 so he's been around a long time. This is one of the places I can't wait to get food from whenever I travel to meet the grandparents. John prides himself on the food he serves and the fact the place has always been one of the best for cleanliness in Cramlington to which his Food Hygiene certificate proves. Very friendly owner who takes the time to have a laugh with you whilst you wait for the food which is usually very quick.I've never came across another Chinese Takeaway that serves the same quality food. Would recommend to anyone after a nice meal.

I prefer this Chinese take away. I think that it is the best in Cramlington.Good portion size. Nice flavours, never been disappointed.

One of my favourite takeaways! John is a lovely friendly guy and the food is fantastic.. i find it stands out as its real old school, proper meat non of that processed ham stuff and the curry sauce is origional.. i find it to be the same powdery stuff everywhere else but delicious here! Honestly would recommend to anyone!! Only one downside is sometimes i find thr chips have been cooked one time to many but thats a risk i take for the best takeaway around!!

Gone here a lot friendly very clean and food is always piping hot if you get delivered same owners for as long as I can remember
