This is a lovely, friendly cafe in the community; it had been a while since I'd eaten there so was really hoping the food would delight - unfortunately not I'm afraid, the coffee was great but we ordered the goats cheese tart and it was really rather unpleasant. Very chewy and bouncy, very bland with the occasional (very) overpowering pop of strong goats cheese. Salad was under whelming too, hard under ripe tomatoes and sad looking bits of lettuce. I'll just stick to coffee in future!

A short wait for a table was not an inconvenience in this busy little cafe. The breakfasts that were ordered were delivered speedily but the quality was lacking. The bacon, square sausage, and eggs were overcooked with the haggis, black pudding and potato scone greasy, with no thought given to presentation. The other three breakfast dishes were nothing special, and the strawberry milkshake lacked any strawberry flavour. I think this review is fair and based on my visit I would not recommend this cafe.

Had a fabulous dinner experience at this friendly cafe/bakery/diner. Small dinner menu but would be sufficient suit all tastes. The Chilli was superb as was the Salmon following on from the selection of ultra-fresh breads and dips for starters. Not much of a dessert fan so didn’t try what was on offer but if desserts/cakes are your thing you would be spoiled for choice here. Amazing display of sweet treats which all seem to have been freshly created/baked on the premises. Some quirky decorative features which add to the overall ambience accompanied by the warm and friendly welcome from Ellie on front of house. Really can’t fault it. Overall. A thoroughly enjoyable experience which we will repeat.

We've been often for coffee n cakes, never disappointed! We've been for breakfast and lunch a couple of times too, never disappointed! We went last night for dinner, my husband had chilli and I had steak and onions on a focaccia roll, not disappointed! Common theme here! The staff were all lovely, we'll be back soon, thanks very much.

It all started so well with a nice warm welcome and a good explanation of what was on offer. I ordered a baked tattie with coronation chicken and my wife a cheese scone. Scone arrived first and looked good with a surprise on opening when a bunch of green stuff was in the middle. I had a wee taste and felt that although the consistency was good, the taste did not hit the spot. (oh and no furry tongue). Baked tattie arrived a few minutes later and looked great with a nice looking salad. I started with the salad and could only eat one mouthful as it was smothered with balsamic vinegar. Tried the coronation chicken next and it sadly must go down as the worst I've had in my life. The sauce was so sweet it was basically inedible. The tattie was OK. I spoke to the waitress about it and was told that it was popular with other guests. So I paid the bill and we left. Won't be back I'm afraid

Delightful little restaurant. Pretty decor. Small interesting menu. Perfect for lunch. Quality produce. Only minus was a dreadful salad served with our choice. If they served a good mixed salad I would give them 10/10.

The title says it all- I really do love everything about Kitschnbake! The staff are lovely, so friendly and happy to help, the atmosphere is welcoming and the food is incredible. We are regular customers and everything we've ever had to eat from Kitschnbake has been perfect; they are our go to for special occasions, weekend brunch/lunch, randomly popping in for cake just to get us through the working day, and often just for one of their delicious coffees. Kitschbake is a wonderful business and I wholeheartedly recommend!!

Having had great experiences with Kitschnbake, I placed another order earlier this month. On thr collection date, i rang to see when we could pick up the afternoon tea and was advised that it would be available any time from 11.00am. We duly succeeded at 11.50 to be told that it wasn't ready. I was then, would you believe...to 'feel free to wait outside'. I declined this offer as it was very overcast and chilly. Ther food eventually arrived and we left. To my mind, and from all previous examples of afternoon tea, the food should be dainty, finger food...colourful and appetising. To my horror, included were four 'chunks' of what we eventually decided was a giant roll of sausage meat in a pastry. Each chunk was 1.5 inches wide and up to 5 inches in length. My guests tried to sample it but kept finding pieces of cling film all through it. In short, it was inedible and I finally fed it to the garden birds. It was truly disgusting. Another guest was certain that her cupcake was defrosted. I was totally embarrassed and so disappointed. I contacted the Company owner who checked out my complaint. She advised me that it was felt that we had 'perhaps arrived at a busy time'!! The owner undertook to make further investigation into the offending 'sausage roll' thing....I have heard bo more. I find it difficult to understand how standards in this business have slipped. £70 is not grudges when the experience is pleasant. But, as they say....NEVER AGAIN.

We visited on Saturday 30th April at lunchtime and as I expected it was super busy. As it was nice out we would have happily sat outside, but we were lucky enough to get a table indoors with some people getting up to leave. The staff were efficient, friendly and working hard. Our coffee and scones were really good- in particular the blueberry and cinnamon scone. You can tell when someone puts time and care into their baking. We will be back to try more..or maybe something else from the lovely looking menu.

So lucky to have this fantastic cafe on our doorstep 😃 staff are so friendly, helpful and accommodating. I had the avocado on sourdough with poached eggs - was delicious. My daughter and her friend both had beans on toast - perfect portion size and generous amount of beans. Couldn’t resist a few treats after. Coffee is amazing too. Would advise reserving a table if possible but staff did their very best to get us a table (we were very lucky to get one as it was fairly busy). There’s always takeaway too as an option with blankets and hot water bottles if sitting outside! So definitely an essential stop along the north east Fife coastal path.

I ordered a birthday cake for my wife and it was spectacular - definitely the best cake I've ever had.I've visited the cafe many times, it's always been great.I'd not thought before to order a whole cake to take away, but I'm glad I did. The team were a joy to interact with, really wanted to understand what I was after, and deliver something special.I ordered a large birthday cake - a coffee sponge encased a generous layer of coffee buttercream inside, and vanilla buttercream on the outside, to offset caramelised pecans and edible flowers on top, and with a message in brown piping to accentuate the coffee flavour.I can taste it all again writing that, it really was that good.I got a large, and it fed a procession of friends and family who came round in small groups throughout the weekend - there was enough for everyone to have as much as they liked.Thank you Mary Jane and all the team - you made a special day truly magical. I've just had a moment. You know, one of 'those' moments - where you eat something that changes your life. It totally caught me off guard actually - I was just popping in to collect a rapidly-ordered-I-didn't-forget-honest birthday chocolate bouquet and I caught sight of the words 'breakfast rolls' on the hand-chalked menu outside and my stomach loudly and rather embarrassingly announced to the entire street that it had been neglected thus far today. I ordered a lorne sausage roll. Just butter. No sauce. £3. Sorted. Kicked the kerb outside taking in the CoVid-free fresh air beside the Tay whilst admiring the new hamster wheel in Slessor Gardens whilst I waited - it was the perfect amount of time to wait - not too long like "are they actually away out the back chasing a haggis?" and not too quick like "is it still mooing?"I shuffled back to the car and headed back over the water to the relative safety of The North. I lasted about 3 yards before I had to pull over and get in about it. The smell was criminal. Nothing could have prepared me for how amazing this roll was. Soft, pillowy roll. Lavishly smothered in butter. The lorne was "the m word that rhymes with hoist" but crispy on the outside and just a shade smaller than a bairns head. I'm glad I pulled over. There's a well-supported current trend of supporting local businesses during these times and when you have places like this knocking out rolls like that, it's an absolute no brainer.Bravo MJ ♥

We were not let down the food is simple with good choice doing all day breakfasts on Sundays all day. We ordered the halloumi and red pepper and I had the haggis with applewood petit pain. Dessert was a traybake and cheesecake Can't fault any of it. One nice touch, and it is a bug bearer of mine, is the fact the salad had no dressing so if you wanted it with then add your own. All places should do this as having knowledge of the trade there is so much salad waste. Anyway lovely lunch lovely staff and nice surroundings and you can see the River Tay as well. What a fab place. Delightful, hard working staff, quirky decor, wonderful buzzy atmosphere but best of all - DELICIOUS FOOD. My son had the potato scone stack and he’s still talking about it! The variety and choice of freshly prepared food is quite remarkable. No room for a cake after breakfast but we were not going to leave empty handed so had a baking takeaway. It would have been very silly not too.... delightful vanilla sponge, kit kat chocolate traybake and the brownies - there will never be another brownie like it.

The berry oatie is a treat, as is the soup, and a host of lovely savory dishes and traybake/cake treats.

I just love this place. It’s amazing and the offering is so varied in terms of unusual cakes and menu options. Everything is made freshly, and on site, with what seems to be a lot of care and attention. It’s a stones throw from Dundee and a definite hidden gem! Service is brilliant too! My favourite place in the area.

Situated just a mile from the South End of the Tay bridge this cafe offers nice views of the Railway Bridge and across to Dundee. A variety of food is available - everything freshly cooked and reasonable value for money.

We ordered a scone with butter and jam and it was good, not great, just good. What was great was the back bacon and Scottish cheddar on a croissant. It was the best breakfast sandwich I ate on this particular trip to the UK. It was a bit of a wait to get a table (about half an hour), which was kind of frustrating, as most of the people in the restaurant were finished eating when we got there, and were just hanging around talking until we came back from our stroll through the little town 30 minutes later. They did, at least, reserve a table for us before we went for our walk, so one was ready upon our return. It was a nice gesture. If I was in the area, I'd certainly return for that breakfast bacon and cheese croissant.

Been a few times now for lunch/brunch as a couple and the service has been efficient and friendly and the food fine. Met with another couple for lunch. Food as usual was find but the service a bit slower than previous. The staff did apologise and kept us informed of the progress of our order which was a nice touch.Should add it does carry a nice selection of flavoured teas and lovely home baking. Definitely worth popping over from Dundee on a sunny afternoon

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch here with a friend last Tuesday. Enormous selection of savoury dishes, specials, and yummy cakes. Pleasant staff, clean surroundings, gorgeous view out over the River Tay and very reasonable prices. Homemade sausage roll was out of this world and the raspberry brownie was delicious.

A bit of the beaten track but worth it. If this café was in the city centre, it would be packed out every day! We enjoyed lovely, freshly made sandwiches in a cosy atmosphere and took some delicious cakes home. I hadn’t been for a while but it’s every bit as nice as I remember, we’ll definitely be back.

We didn't stay but went for lunch one Sunday. We booked but several groups turned up without booking and were able to get a table. The menu is the usual pub grub but nicely presented and service was quick. Ae chose the roast beef, meatball and curry with icecream and coffee to follow. All very tasty The welcome and service were frienly and efficient and the dining room light airy and spacious.

What a disappointment. I found the Bothy at Boglily on TA, loved the look of the place, the gorgeous photos of cooked food on their site and the good reviews. We are doing a road trip and this was going to be our Sunday morning treat. The car park was jammed with cars and we saw people standing in a queue to pet baby goats. Upon entering the inviting Bothy and asking a young man for a table, we were told that we couldn’t bring our dog in. Fair enough. Not every dining establishment is dog-friendly. Though I was a bit surprised as the restaurant is in a buffalo farm, there’s a petting zoo and it’s in the countryside. The sun was shining so I asked if we could order our meal and sit at the table on the deck, directly next to the door of The Bothy (see photo for proximity). The young man’s response was that they don’t offer takeaway. I queried whether a table one step from the door qualified as takeaway. It reminded me of the TV ad with the man trying to buy potatoes at a farm shop and being told that he can only pay with digital currency. People taking themselves so seriously that they don’t think of the customer experience. We had driven up from our holiday cottage at Kinghorn especially to get a nice cooked breakfast from their lovely menu, so my surprise and disappointment were apparent. I was directed to the outdoor kiosk they call the Milk Bar to order something from their limited selection. We ordered one Double Cheese Toastie with fries, a latte, an affogato milkshake ( made with buffalo milk ice cream) and a scone, which was on their menu. The two lovely servers told me that they don’t sell scones outside and I would have to go to the Bothy Café to get one. When I explained that I had been told up there that I couldn’t get anything from them takeaway, the young woman offered to go get one for me. They were both very sweet and I apologised for my previous grumpiness. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the trouble. The cheese toastie and fries were served in a cardboard tray. The toastie was on “cheap white bread” according to my partner. I didn’t taste it. The fries and the milkshake however, were excellent. My scone was dry, cold and crumbled into breadcrumb texture when I tried to spread some butter on it. The crumb was impossible to pick up and eat but my dog liked it. It wasn’t worth eating for me as it then began to rain and we had to head for the car. I can’t help but think that the very cheerful, welcoming and upmarket website promises more than it delivers.
