Kitchen 91 in Calderdale

We privately hired Kitchen 91 for the evening for our ten year wedding anniversary. Poppy, Matthew and their whole team just blew us away with their kindness and attentiveness. The food was absolutely incredible, everything tasted delicious. The ambience was brilliant and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Hopefully they’ll have us back to do another. They truly made it a special evening. Love this place.

Our last minute Friday night visit to Kitchen 91 (unusual last minute cancellation) was truly one of the nicest restaurant experiences we’ve had in absolutely ages. A lovely pared back, candlelit, intimate dining space - the mood, vibe, whatever one wants to name it won’t us round from the off. The dishes didn’t miss a beat - great flavours, beautifully presented, in perfect portions over a fixed five-course set menu (vegetarian alternatives). Great stuff. Wondrous to have such a place in Hebden Bridge. Hope to return soon (we’ve just spotted the new summer menu).

What a great find. The tasting menu was absolutely delicious. We opted for the pescatarian option and it did not disappoint. Warm welcoming environment. Each course dish was explained as it was served. We also had the wine flight each and that was a delight. Portion sizes were just right. The cheese and last course was very generous portion and lovely to eat with the port from the wine flight

With Kitchen 91, Matthew and Poppy have created an experience that feels intimate, authentic and exciting. The courses were delivered to each table simultaneously, meaning that there was a collective anticipation for each new dish. White table cloths, wooden furnishings and stick candles give the restaurant a rustic atmosphere, though the food is anything but. I could rave about every dish in endless detail, but no one would read it and it would make me too hungry. Standouts were the whipped garden herb ricotta with semi dried tomatoes, the best beef carpaccio I’ve ever had and a laughably -perfect-in-it’s-wobble tarragon panna cotta, which played with your senses and expectations by taking a traditionally savoury herb and using the aniseed aftertaste to make something complex yet delicious. Service was outstanding. Everyone that we interacted with was attentive, knowledgable and friendly. We had the pre-summer set menu, and with the promise of the dishes changing seasonally me and my partner have made a deal that we will try to go to every single one. If you’re after something really special in the Calderdale area, get yourself to this gaff.

What a gorgeous restaurant this is. Tables were spaced out perfectly and the ambience felt warm and exclusive. The service was friendly and the food delightful. Particular stand out was the tarragon panna cotta, one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time. Had the wine flight which was just right. We also really enjoyed the music soundtrack, not intrusive or loud and made it feel relaxing and fun. Decor was lovely too, felt clean and fresh. Will definitely be recommending this place to people and looking forward to coming back!

We visit here last weekend and it did not disappoint. Well curated Italian tasting menu, from the fresh foccacia to the pork belly main with pumpkin and amaretto, it really was outstanding and next level Italian. Service was excellent and wines although small on range, were superb in selection. Well priced and good value for money, we will be back when we visit again, thank you for a special evening.

Setting is good and atmosphere is also good On the whole food was very good. The pasta dish ( side to main) was sensational - as good as any I have had in Italy . To be fair all food was good flavours and nicely presented bar the pork belly which was overcooked chewy and hard to cut I get it’s a tasting menu and as such portion size is small but the portion sizes were ridiculously small and when you serve one small piece of pork measuring 2x2 inches it really has to stand up as e excellent and it wasn’t . The cheeseboard was another sharing plate and they really could not have cut smaller pieces of cheese and the crackers were lacking too. I wouldn’t return it aspires to be a sophisticated fine dining but although good food it does not deliver across all plates and the o er poked pork is unforgivable

My second visit to this amazing resturant. The atmosphere was chilled and welcoming. The food was top quality and utterly delicious. I wouldn't be able to pick a favourite between the mussels and the pork belly, both were to die for. I chose the wine flight which accompanied the food perfectly. I really liked the addition of the Italian cheese course too. Perfect. Looking forward to booking again for your next menu.

I attended a pasta making course on a Saturday afternoon run by Kitchen 91 owners Poppy and Matthew. I had a fantastic time and would highly recommend it to anyone. Matthew and Poppy are the prefect teachers and the class size, content, and masterials were all readlly fantastic. Since going on the course I have been insipired to dust down my pasta maker and made some lovely cappelletti pasta, and am considering buying extra kit for my mixer! I'd had a tough week at work and the 3 hours I spent in the restaurant using my hands, eyes, nose, mouth were a real tonic! Thank you!

My wife and I both had a great time creating delicious hand made artisan pasta at one of Kitchen 91's workshops. Matthew and Poppy were fantastic hosts, both clearly very knowledgeable and experienced in this subject. We will definitely be returning to dine at Kitchen 91 and hopefully more workshops in the future.

This is a beautiful spot in Hebden Bridge. We went for my partner’s birthday and absolutely adored all the food! The ambience was delightful and the food was excellent. My only tips for the team would be - the portions were almost too big! We had to take a doggy bag away (which is a bit insulated for a tasting menu). And the house white wine is very expensive - but the overall meal was completely worth it. Thanks all for a lovely evening.

2nd time at this lovely venue. Fantastic dining experience, attention to detail, unrushed, chilled vibe. You can tell that this place and the food is their passion,; from the whisked butter, amazing olives and that mushroom custard dish, the delicious honeycomb ice cream and almond desert. Melt in the mouth flavours, things I had not tasted before..wonderful birthday treat. Only criticism, small wine list and they did not have my first choice. The second, although expensive ( birthday remember), was disappointing and did not meet the rather ambitious description. We were however treated to some lovely cheese with truffle honey..game changer.

My friends and I visited this little gem last night. Dietary requirements that very naughtily hadn’t been specified by ourselves where accommodated on the most polite, and accommodating manner. The food is just stunning, with an incredibly complimentary wine list. Super friendly staff and a very relaxed and ambient atmosphere ❤️. We will be back hopefully sooner rather than later

Stunning restaurant with amazing service and incredible food. We were so appreciative of the hosts to help us as frankly we were a massive pain in the proverbial. I booked it overlooking the set menu and we had a couple of people in our group that required different plates, Poppy and Matthew and the team bent over backwards to cater for us and we hugely appreciated it! The food was on another level. So refined, tasty, simple, honest and the highest of quality. The wine menu is beautifully small and Primitivo on there as a light red worked perfectly with the stunning food. It was an experience, not a “meal”, or “tea out” it was a fantastic evening of sitting in an intimate environment with lovely company, super service, and delicious food! Brilliant little restaurant. The food and wine was fantastic, atmosphere really pleasant and the service was flawless. We had the Autumnal menu which. was simply delicious. Having just moved to the area, this will definitely be a regular spot for us.

Another amazing experience at Kitchen 91. As soon as you enter you feel instantly happy, Poppy and Matthew are lovely people and their team are equally great. You feel instantly at ease and welcomed. We'd visited their previous restaurant and it was our first visit to the new premises, the food was exceptional, as detailed previously they source the highest quality ingredients and you can see that they are perfectionists each course was delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kitchen 91 it's the restaurant that Hebden Bridge needed and we are so lucky to have it, you must visit!

We came a few weeks ago for my birthday and it was certainly a treat for me. They gave us some free bubbles and a birthday card too which was such a lovely special thought. The food was excellent and up to Michelin star standard. It is a set menu but the beauty of that is everyone is served at the same time and given an explanation of what we are eating - fabulous. We are foody people and enjoy good food - its great we have such a restaurant now on our doorsteps. It is quite expensive but you get what you pay for.
