Kishorn Seafood Bar in Highland

Fabulous lunch today - superb poached salmon, scallops and hot smoked salmon. They even cooked us some divine new potatoes. Salad and coleslaw were as good as it gets. We live on Skye, but this was so much more enjoyable than overrated espablishments on the island. Superb, cannot wait for them to reopen

Amazing food. We had a lovely seafood soup, smoked salmon and seafood orzo and it was a 10 out of 10 on all counts. Generous portions. We wanted to come for breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day !

This is a casual, cosy restaurant. We went for an evening meal and had the seafood platter for two which cost £120.00. I have had this dish in France, Canada and New Zealand. None of them compared to Kishorn! If you intend to go, book a table - both times we went it was full.

Excellent! Food and service excellent. We arrived early for a table, as it was a rainy day and wanted to sit inside. Wow the smell from the open kitchen sets your taste buds off straight away. Food was delicious and service great as well. What a find! Don’t take in any notice of negative reviews, this place is a find! We called on the NC500 route. Will be back, absolutely delicious!

Wunderbares seafood-Restaurant.Wir hatten Langusten und Hummer mit sehr leckeren coleslaw und Salat, dazu eine leckere Mayo und Brot.Alles war sehr liebevoll angerichtet und schmeckte himmlisch.Das Ambiente in der blauen Hütte mit den schönen Sitzgelegenheiten im Garten war wunderbar. Auch preislich war es für das Gebotene sehr angemessen.

Amazing experience. One of the best meals we have had dining out. The food was fresh and cooked to a very high standard. The atmosphere was quaint and comfortable. The staff were so kind and welcoming. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning next time we are in the area.

I gave this 4 stars because the fare was very good and a nice setting (on a nice day). We had the Scallops £18.50 and hot smoked salmon fillet £16.50. I dropped a star because it is expensive and maybe not as good as what you would get at the shack in Ullapool or Oban for a more reasonable price. When researching it is difficult to find a price list, because apparently it is priced everyday, but I think they could give a ballpark figure if they wanted to. I've posted a couple of pictures showing the pricelist on our visit. Definately worth a visit but maybe not too often.

Excellent oysters but terrible front of house service. We drove a 90 mile round trip to sample the seafood ,but left disappointed. As we walked in there was no " Hello , how are you" just a " it's last orders in 15 mins and the menus are on the board" We found our own table and looked at the menu board. We expected some communication of the fact that you order at the till and that it is not table service. It never came. We nearly walked out at that point but stayed instead to spend our cash. My six oysters came and were very good. No eye contact or words from the waitress. The lady front of house possibly the owner / manager is in the wrong job. We did not feel welcomed only rushed and our experience was ruined. We had to ask for napkins and as we left, again no thank you or bye bye. Buck your ideas up madam you are no help to the business.

Found by chance lovely setting overlooking the loch. All the shellfish looked amazing, we had lobster and langoustine so fresh and delicious, excellent service, will definitely revisit if in the area again. Cant recommend enough.

We stumbled upon this seafood bar and had lunch there. The seafood, haddock chowder and smoked salmon were absolutely delicious! And the service was very friendly. I absolutely recommend this place!

after finding very few places to eat out whilst doing the NC500 we were recommended this place and it provided a very good langoustine lunch which was much appreciated

What a treat this was! After a lovely lunch here last year we vowed to return in the evening next time and sample the seafood platter. Two of us shared the platter, the others ordered langoustines, and sea trout. The platter was amazing, absolutely loaded with delicious seafood, including a lobster. The highlights for me were the lobster and crab claws. The langoustines were outstanding, possibly the best I've ever had, and the sea trout was pronounced 'delicious'. Very pleasant and attentive service and a lovely location on a beautiful evening. Recommended!

I picked my holiday rental so I could be within walking distance to this seafood bar. That's how much I look forward to Scottish shellfish and salmon every year! And Kishorn seafood bar doesn't disappoint. The service is great and the food absolutely lovely! We tried everything we could think of during our stay but the seafood platter is definitely one to remember. And they'll sneak your furry friend a snack as well.

We'd looked forward to this for our whole long weekend away ...a treat ahead we thought! However, the staff were not very friendly, and the food was massively over priced. We have eaten in lots of seafood shack places around Scotland, such as the wonderful Skipness one which is in such a stunning setting. I checked the Skipness prices today, and their seafood platter for 2 is only £30, whereas at Kishorn it was something like £120. What a rip off! My husband had scallops today and there were only 3 small ones and with a croissant ...what's that about ...doesn't go at all!! I had the salmon platter. I'd hoped to have fresh crab or some other crustacean kind of seafood, but at £25 for a whole crab I had to pick something else. The gravadlax and hot smoked salmon were nice but the portions were tiny. The staff also forgot part of our order. My feeling is that the great reviews on here are by tourists from outwith Scotland who just don't know how short this falls below other seafood places on the west coast! Sorry I hate writing negative reviews and indeed hardly ever write reviews but just felt I had to this time.

The Cullen Skink was delicious and gluten free. This tiny spot even had gluten free bread to go with it, which I hadn’t expected at such a small establishment.. The staff were very friendly, too. It’s definitely worth a stop if heading to Applecross.

Stopped off here on a stormy Sunday afternoon and was not disappointed. Everything on the menu looked incredible and I think we maybe chose wrong. We had the crab sandwich box (literally a crab sandwich which I don’t think was very clear) and the scallops (again on a bread roll). The fish was delicious and cooked perfectly but the bread elements were slightly random and took away from the fish. I think we should’ve chosen the bigger box option or the platter, never mind just an excuse to go back again!

This is an amazing restaurant. Sureal in its location, nestled on the side of beautiful Loch Carron, the chef Daniel will provide exquisite fresh seafood at a great price and accompanied by a wonderful choice of drinks, including local beers. After a really hard day on the Torridon hills we were lucky enough to catch him 30 mins before he closed and were soon served with a fabulous seafood platter. Top food in a top location - an absolute must! Thank you Daniel and we'll definitely be back!

It has been a very very long time since I found a seafood item in the UK I have not had before - the Scarab Lobster - Squatties, are beyond divine, sweet, succulent, perfectly cooked and plentiful.Location is perfect, service is outstanding and the price is very very good

Amazing food and the people are even better.We ran a flat tyre on the mountain pass and very luckily managed to get ourselves to the seafood bar car park. The owners were so hospitable and friendly.The oysters were large and delicious and the langoustines were tender. The food was so fresh and delicious.Thank you so much. I feel bad writing this review after all the good ones but occasionally slip-ups happen and I think we must have got one.We missed the lunchtime opening on our way over to Applecross but came back just as the tea-time service was about over ,I pleaded for the scallops which had been recommended strongly by a friend who had eaten there regularly over the years,and they were good enough to say yes.Two servings of scallops in garlic butter and six oysters.It was just such an odd way of doing things....no garlic butter..dry scallops that were warm (microwave..my only thought) and a dry bread roll (? ) with a bit of salad on the side(the best part).A real disservice to the obviously excellent produce.They had forgotten the oysters but they came swiftly and were ok..not shucked properly but nice.A bog standard white and £38.50 thank you.We should have come on time but would probably have been better off being turned away and been disappointed that way rather than actually eating.Would love to come back one day but will stick to Lochleven or Skipness etc.

With Covid they have had to repurpose as more of a takeout but you can still sit in the tables outside. Food was still fabulous, the produce is outstanding and service lovely.You order from the board , a choice of boxes with various seafood delights accompanied by salad, coleslaw and bread. You can order wine and beer and they bring it all out to the table.It’s no reservations and you get whatever table is free but no one is chasing you, it’s relaxed with a pleasant individual charm.Will be back next trip.

Good food but the menu was limited and overpriced compared to other seafood bars along the NC500 route.

We have visited the Seafood Bar during our holiday visits to Kishorn and have always had wonderful meals. This visit was no exception even during the pandemic. We had fabulous lobster, langoustines, scallops and garlicky squat lobsters, which were delicious. The EOTHO scheme was on offer making it terrific value, thoroughly recommended.

Took advantage of the government half price scheme, was very disappointed with 3 of our 4 meals. The garlic bread nearly broke our teeth. Was so looking forward to this takeaway as we were staying with friends in Kishorn.

I've visited this place few times and enjoyed my visits. But, now we're all working around CV-19 and all that this entails, I have to say, the food is still great, service is fine even behind face coverings and on a fine warm day such as when we were there, a nice place to sit outside to eat, as long as there is enough wind to keep the midges away. Tables etc are all cleaned down before you are given a seat and all food comes in recyclable disposable containers. I'm not sure it is fully necessary to use disposable stuff - surely suitable cleaning would allow use of normal cutlery/crockery?? Unfortunately you cannot book a table so, it might be a long way to get here to find there are no tables available.
