Kirkstyle Inn & Restaurant in Perth & Kinross

This is definitely our favourite wee country pub, it’s an hours drive for us, but so worth it. Food never disappoints, portions are a bit big for me, but hubby helps out, service is excellent. We visited today as we had been out walking and we’re only 30 minutes away, we were lucky to get a table, as we hadn’t made a reservation. The prawn special was lovely, we shared it as a starter, scampi was very good, big portion though. Curry was really good, served with a popadom, spiced onions & mango chutney. All in all another lovely meal.

I just think the Kirkstile is terrific. Good food cooked well at a reasonable price. Warning - there is sometimes a delay between ordering and food arrival so go armed with witty conversation and bonhomie. They are managing to run the place with I believe three chefs and three waitresses. They are all working jolly hard and in good spirits and if you do have to wait a bit it is well worth it. We have been coming here for more than a decade and always have a good time.

Fabulous traditional country inn in beautiful Perthshire. Food and service were exceptional. The steak pie was delicious, as were the desserts (cheesecake and Cranachan). Reasonable prices and a lovely feel/atmosphere. Dog friendly too which was a bonus as we had our dogs with us. Loved their own beer too. Would definitely recommend and will be back again I’m sure.

Visited for family lunch with my brother in law up from England. He was very impressed with it , proper county pub ! The pub is friendly and full of interesting decor , it also has an outside seating area which would be great in summer . The food was delicious , compliments to the chef . The staff are friendly and helpful even though it was very busy , special mention to the young waiter , who nothing was too much trouble . Also this is a dog friendly restaurant so accommodates for all visitors. Definitely worth a visit .

A hidden gem with lots of character , excellent friendly staff, delicious food and a super cosy and comfortable room for us all. We booked last minute after stumbling across a deal on itison. I wasn’t sure if they would be able to accommodate a family of four and our little dog but the lady (I think Anita) was very helpful and friendly on the phone so we booked in for the night. Upon arrival we were taken over to our room. It was very spacious and comfortable. Enough room for us all for the night. We had booked dinner and the food was fabulous all round. I had the sea bass, husband had the steak that he said was delicious and kids really enjoyed the pizza and free ice cream for eating their vegetables. We sat and enjoyed a few drinks in the cosy bar before heading back to our room where we had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was equally superb. We would definitely recommend a visit here and can’t wait to return and explore the village and surrounding area. Each and every member of staff we encountered were friendly and really efficient!

Driving through Dunning on our way from Stirling to Perth, we passed the Kirkstyle Inn and their sign advertising Proper Coffee caught our eye. We love our coffee, with a preference for filtered /pour over but have discovered that it's now rare to find anywhere serving this. We were curious, so decided to check this out. It's a lovely cosy place with loads of character that's not faked. It's a proper country pub/inn. There was a log burner at each end of the room at the front and various sized tables for dining. There were more tables in a room to the back, and upstairs but we didn't venture from the front. The staircase was an old wooden one which added to the character. You could imagine all the different people the inn has seen through the years. The staff were friendly, and the service was great. Disappointingly for us, the coffee turned out to be pod based. Having said that, we still enjoyed it as we were ready for a coffee and it was OK. I guess it meets the preference of most people.

Okay place. 2 of our party had steak pie which was good....very meaty and tasty. 2 of us had smoked haddock macaroni cheese. Chef definitely needs to have a lesson in making Mac and cheese. There was no cheese in the sauce and a very small amount of grated parmesan on top. Won't be rushing back.

This is the perfect pub for us….great food, lovely vibe and dog friendly. We have visited on a few occasions usually with our two small dogs and we have always been made to feel welcome. The food really is excellent and we have never had a poor dish. There has never been any compromise on service or quality and we will definitely continue to visit regularly.

I don’t usually leave reviews (probably should more often) but feel compelled to today for the Kirkstyle Inn. My partner and I had an itison for an overnight stay with breakfast and bottle of Prosecco so decided to do a wee Thursday night stay over. We were given an incredibly warm welcome when arriving and shown to our room which was lovely, spacious, and well decorated. We had dinner in the inn and couldn’t fault the food or service by Chelsea (I think that is her name - apologies if not). Neither me or my partner are Prosecco drinkers so Chelsea kindly allowed us to swap the bottle for something else. Again the food was really, really good. After dinner we moved over to the bar and enjoyed some drinks next to the fire place and I had some lovely cocktails made by Jess (again, hope I’ve got the name right). Just want to say how great the service was by all staff we dealt with - so so sorry but didn’t pick up the young guy behind the bars name but he also made me a cracking whisky sour :) There was a Christmas party night in who were…quite demanding?? To put it nicely - and the staff were incredibly patient (more than I might have been :)) The rooms are on a busy wee road so id account for that if you are a light sleeper - luckily we were fairly well on when we finally decided to go to bed so that didn’t bother us. Continental breakfast in the morning was lovely - again great service. Just such a cracking wee place with a really nice vibe and we will certainly be coming back.

Fantastic pub with lovely staff. Very much enjoyed a 2night Itison voucher break, lovely big room with enormous bed all tastefully decorated and great en-suite. Pleasant and friendly local pub. Problem with food rectified a little better.But I’m not usually a person to complain. If I’m promised a hot plate along with hot food, I’m sure I could be swayed to recommend to friends and a return visit.

We stayed at Kirkstyle for an overnight stay. From arriving to leaving, we were treated very well by all staff, friendly and professional. Our room was spacious, plenty storage if staying for a week or more. Very cosy duvet which was welcome as the temperature had dropped. Small bar where we chatted with a couple of friendly locals, nice dining area where we had breakfast - continental, well presented and kept us going till after lunch. We had dinner in the lovely restaurant. Good selection for all courses, great value for money, and very tasty. This Inn is a fab wee gem in a lovely village.

I was not going to leave a review but after seeing the reply by the owner to “bonnyscotland” (headed Avoid Staying) I thought I should add that I also agree that you are taking a chance staying here. If Anita has anything to do with it you will be “bumped” or given an inferior room if she can get someone to stay longer or pay more. There are only 4 rooms and you could be lucky - but we will not take the chance and avoid in future. Also the rooms are right on the road with very poor noise insulation from the old windows. The lower two rooms have plastic sheeting over the windows which do provide privacy but no views - although with seats outside they are needed. However with staff and smokers constantly sitting there talking on their mobiles or chatting there is still plenty of noise.

Visited this Inn after discovering some of the local history whilst staying with a friend nearby. It was packed full of quirky items and it being a rugby World Cup day also had a fair number of local folk all in fine form. The waitress who served our food was Georgia and most helpful, the food was delicious so much so I booked a room to stay and explore more of Dunning the following week. Well worth going off the regular tarmac to visit and or stay here. Super Braw Aye

Lovely food.booked a table for lunch and glad we did as it was busy.lady was on her own and was doing a marvellous job although somewhat unfair as they were short staffed.

Had a lovely time here. Went with my family and we were seated at a big comfy table next t the fire. The kids had the board games out. Or dog was allowed in and he lay under the table. Littlest was given a colouring in sheet. Te kids al ordered from the kids menu which included a generous serving of ice cream after. I had the chicken with black pudding and sticky toffee pudding and it was very tasty. The toilets are lovely and because the place is quaint and quirky it’s an interesting trip to the toilet. My littlest proudly told me she petted a sheep!

We had lunch her today we booked the day before. When we arrived we were shown to our table and told the Sunday roast had sold out. That was no problem as we had our table at 3pm. Looking at the menu we both picked a starter and a main plus drinks. Happy enough until the table next to us sat down and both ordered a Sunday roast!!!!!!! And they got it! I would be interested to see why it was not offered to us???? Very disappointing. However, the food we had was lovely. Pizza and fish and chips for mains. I would have happily left a tip but I paid the bill as it was. You cannot say the roast of the day is finished and then provide it to a table 20 minutes later.

Great 2 night stay very nice accommodation very comfortable. Spacious and nice bathroom Inn quirky full of memorabilia with good beers and food with friendly and happy efficient staff. We will return to walk through Rumbling Bridge Gorge.

Any opportunity our family have, we take trips to Scotland, driving the 8 hours from Wales, knowing we will find a warm welcome everywhere we go. The hospitality of the Scots, together with spectacular scenery and great food make it well worth the journey. In all those years we have never felt unwelcome until we went into the Kirkstyle Inn, Dunning. It is obviously frequented by locals, a local place for local people. They were very busy and there were no tables available inside for dinner so we decided to go into their covered beer garden for drinks and pizza. There were occupied tables to our left and right, both having food, but when we went to order they told us they were not serving food outside. This obviously wasn’t true because everyone around us was eating, without a reservation. This upset the table next to us, so much so, that one of the diners went inside to fight our corner and ask why they wouldn’t serve us food. At that point some large lady came into the beer garden and said the food served outside had been a mistake but we could not have food. She was rude and belligerent. No apology for clearly only feeding favourite customers. We were definitely victimised here, for no reason I can think of. We didn’t make a fuss, just drank up and left. It was so nice of other customers to express their disappointment at how we were treated. I would never recommend this place to visitors. Go at your own risk! They clearly have a captive audience in a small village with no other pubs around. It’s sad they think as a result of their individuality they can choose to be so dismissive of the people who provide their living. My background is hospitality, hotel management and I can honestly say the customers are our valued bread and butter, never a hindrance. For info we are a couple in our 60s (one celebrating his 60th) adult daughter and fiancé. So disappointing and clearly not the norm for this wonderful part of the world.

Stayed here the other day. Fantastic stay, all staff were really friendly from the wee boy doing the pot washing to the owner. Lots of wee nukes and crannies to enjoy a quiet drink/chat. Had dinner and breakfast, both were excellent, a hearty breakfast too. Comfortable room and spotlessly clean. Friendly locals at the bar also. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

We went out as a family my son was treating us for our wedding anniversary lunch both men has starters and my wife was looking forward to steak pie .lt was extra full to bursting with long and very large pieces of leek far too many large onions no chopping skills used lots of carrots unfortunately very very little evidence of beef although gravy was pleasant complained to the waitress about being disappointing in quality she says pass comments to the chef still paid for returning a full plate of inedible nonsense shame on you as inaccurate food description lesson learned should have taken a picture

We visited on a Monday evening & glad we booked. The place was packed but we got served drinks then our food quite quickly considering how busy they were. We both had the large haddock & chips (fries ) & it was excellent. The batter was very light & the fish lovely, fresh & white. The girls & kitchen staff deserve to be mentioned as food was served on time. No hesitation in going back again when next in the area.
