Kirin Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

Saturday lunch, the restaurant was empty - unsurprisingly as it turned out. We ordered prawn crackers, a quarter crispy aromatic duck - ok-ish but nothing special. The crispy pork (Harbin signature dish) was dry and tough. The steamed prawns in their shells were vastly overcooked: dry, rubbery and flavourless. Both main courses (at c. £23 each) came with no vegetables, just the protein. The prawns were served with some vermicelli. The egg fried rice was £6.50!!! We complained about the mains (especially the prawns). The waiter said he told the chef, who replied that that's how the prawns should be! With a coke and a beer, the bill came to £90. On the plus side, the restaurant is spacious and nicely decorated. The toilets are nice and very clean. Unfortunately, the food is badly cooked and overpriced. We won't be going back.

Big party of people out for a stag night food very overpriced. Ordered lots of different plates of food nothing to rave about. Drinks were very expensive aswell. One of our party left a small wallet on table when we left. We had a room to ourselves and so one off the staff must have emptied it before he realised 20mins later. First of all they said no he didnt lose it there but it had a tracker on it and beeped. Found in bin minus 200pound cash. So beware people. They spent over 1000 pound in a couple of hours and didnt even get a complimentry shot. Wouldnt go back.

Had a wonderful evening at Kirin Restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday. The staff were extremely attentive and made sure that every last detail was attended to, making sure the host and guests had a lovely evening. Food was very good, in particular the dim sum and the crispy duck. The private dining room is a beautiful location and every comfortable.

A group party of 12. The food was excellent quality and fairly priced for London. Non pretentious with a lovely ambiance. The staff professional and customer centred. Service timely. We had a fabulous time and were well taken care of.

Fantastic meal. Great menu choice with attentive discreet service, delicious perfectly cooked food and serene traditional ambience. Lovely as a girls day out, family meal or just by yourself. Staff had no issue with me waiting an hour for my friend. Would highly recommend

Lovely roast duck - crispy and juicy. The Dan Dan noodles are also really elegantly done - piquant and flavoursome

The service was awful. There was no one at reception so we went down to the bar area only for the staff behind the bar to ignore us for what felt like forever. When we finally did get acknowledged and sat down, we had to wait 10 minutes to even get asked if we wanted a drink, at which stage we thought we had better order some food, in case they never came back. To be fair the food was good and was good value for money. It is a nice little restaurant but needs to improve its customer service.

At KIRIN, we 4 people savored delightful duck, dumplings, and beverages in a bustling atmosphere on Thursday, May 11th. Despite the crowd, the staff performed admirably, with our server Rahman standing out. He attended to our needs swiftly, ensuring our order was taken and our food arrived without delay. Rahman's warm and attentive demeanor made our experience even more enjoyable. His expertise in recommending the perfect wine to pair with our meal showcased his dedication to providing an exceptional dining experience.

Very authentic food. We ordered 1/4 duck & spicy chicken appetizer. Both are very tasty with big portion. Main course Tofu and Eggplant on the other hand, the portion is a bit small. Eggplant is too salty for us. I also like the soup of the day very much. The service is super good. The waiters are very friendly. Definitely will go back and recommend friends to go.

Excellent as always. The bbq meats are well done. The service is good and the waiters attitude nice. My only suggestion is that the Singaporean noodles could have more meat, it’s a little lean on that. Everything else great.

I have been here a few times. In some ways, it is a bit of a classic. The decór is modern and clean. The staff are always attentive and friendly. There is at least one private dining area for groups. The menu is extensive and tasty, with fair portions. Finally, it is clean. I would recommend it any day of the week and twice on a Sunday! Would I make any changes? No, except for printing new menus, they are getting a bit worn!

There were three things I liked: The good service, the excellent food and the restaurant’s design.. I was here with my mum for an after gallery treat and we really enjoyed it.

Terrible experience at Kirin - First and last time I go there. - Service was extremely slow - Mains were served before the appetizers and we had to wait 1h between the first dish to be served and the last one - Food was cold - Waiters were unfriendly, pretending to be professional but they are all disorganized - They forgot one dish we ordered. We asked the waiter to confirm it was being prepared twice, but eventually the third time I asked they realised they forgot it - They accept delivery service apps but the staff is clearly overwhelmed - Finally, the bill they gave us was the one of another table

This was the first time I had booked this restaurant for myself and colleagues, had previously heard good things about this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint, great food, service, we will definitely be booking this restaurant again.

Excellent food and good service. Best Chinese in the City.

Really good quality Chinese cuisine served briskly in a noisy space. The food made up for these deficiencies and the relentless determination of the staff to get us to buy a second bottle. Despite that it was a fun night

Not as good as it used to be. Disappointed this time.

The food was outstanding, especially the mock chicken sweet and sour sauce. The staff were inattentive and I was left waiting for them to look over a couple of times. This meant one of the dishes didn’t come out on time and then I had to get up to ask for it as they were not checking if we had everything. For the price the service could have been warmer and more attentive, but the atmosphere and food did make it worth it.

This restaurant failed to take my food intolerances seriously. I have suffered stonach pain since, currentky 48 hours. My booking a week out mentioned my intolerances very clearly. Once there I was told all their meat was marinated in white pepper which limited things! I was lied to that all Chinese restaurants do this and yet I never have a problem elsewhere. In the end one of the dishes we ordered was lamb otherwise there was very little to eat and it was too cold to go elsewhere. I deserve a full refund at rhe very least!

First time here and wont be the last,lovely food and place

Early dinner booked. Restaurant was not busy yet staff service was very slow and inattentive. They appeared to be disinterested when taking food order not just our table the same at another. A mini bottle of Prosecco was ordered and was told not available as it was not chilled! Woukd have quite hapoiky waited for it. The waitress tried to sell us white wine and lemonade mix !!!! Food dishes were above your average chinese service well below. Only later discovered that they billed for the Prosecco … check your bills.

Delicious. Upscale. Great martinis. Love the pork Dumplings. The shrimp and veggies were delicious and the fried rice awesome. Pricey for Chinese cuisine but well worth it.

Decent food. Nothing extra ordinary. But, don't get served by the women there, extra extra rude.

The service is terrible. A dish was forgotten from our order, so i told the waitress and she said "You want to order rice" The crispy aromatic duck was fatty. Definitely not work it for the price.

Had an amazing experience with my family. One of the most warm Chinese restaurants in London. The staff was amazing and very generous.

First impressions were promising however as service got underway it was clear it was not going to be plain sailing on two occasions when pouring the wine there was no attempt to remove excess water when removing bottle from ice bucket as a result water dripped over my dinner an apology was given on the first occasion but not on the second. It was disappointing there was no curry on the menu. There is room for improvement in a few areas otherwise it is a lovely restaurant.

It wasn’t a great experience at all, I had seen all the reviews about the bad customer service but then they said the food was good so I thought let me give it a chance. No looking back I should of listened to all the reviews, the service was terrible we wasn’t greeted when we came in we had to go to the waiter to get seated. He took long to take our orders and when we were calling him over and trying to make eye contact he completely ignored us and was making calls on his personal mobile. Then to top it off he was standing behind the bar doing a covid test right in front of the customers. When I pulled him up about it all he could say was sorry, I was in complete shock.

Seems to gone down hill since the last visit, frozen seafood and poor service.

Food was great, veggie options where really nice and everything tasted fresh. Perfect place if you want a classic Chinese, that is very well cooked.

Food was normal, but our mood and lunch was ruined by their bad and rude service. I am sure there are many other more restaurants are worth to go than this one. I will never return to this one.

The restaurant was acceptable and service ok but could have been better

Always found it difficult to get good Chinese food in London but Kirin did the job. Setting pleasant if not a little quiet. Service good very attentive. Very tasty dishes. Only complaint is it is a bit pricey. May be as it is in an area during the week that caters for rich banker types but cannot fault the food. Wine well priced though to be fair.

Good food and wine. Main problem was a 60 minutes wait between starter (crispy duck) and main course. It has Karaoke rooms so blast of music and 'singing' would occur - a little noisy.

The food was good but it felt like we waited hours for it to arrive. They brought the food separately as well and we waited almost 20 mins for the last part of it. The place was not even that busy so it didn’t make sense. People sitting next to us arrive after us and got their food much quicker. This is also a karaoke place so be prepared to hear drunken loud singing down the corridor whilst you’re eating. Definitely wouldn’t go back again sorry.

I was just having a quick meal for one as having working late. Had duck rolls and a seafood noodle dish.All ok, but would like to have had more time to have a more interesting meal which looked to be available on the menu.

Was a nice Chinese restaurant near cannon Street. The food was nice. Just a nice Chinese in the city.

A very good variety of vegetarian dishes, able to maintain to cook traditional Cantonese style without compromise the quality which is very good. Will back again and keep up the good work.

Food was lovely but service was poor took a while to be acknowledged at the door and once seated took over 45 mins to be asked what we wanted to drink. Once ordered the food arrived quite quickly but before we could finish our drinks staff started to clear our table and disinfect it while we were sat on the table and lay new plates. They close at 11pm we where out by 11.04pm. Staff where friendly however I guess when they say closing at 11 they mean all guest must be out finished or not.

From the minute my party entered the restaurant we felt unwelcomed and we were rushed through our meal. Shall not be returning.

Great food and service will definitely go again

Great food however they did bring the wrong meal out. Lovely service - would say it is very expensive with edamame £8 and a small tub of prawn crackers £6. Seasoned vegetables going up to £16-£18.

Tasty food and friendly service in a cool atmosphere.

The menu here is varied and has a few unusual items. Overall, the food was well presented and the portion sizes were larger. The squid was excellent and the chili chicken very good. Service was very quick and friendly.

A great Chinese restaurant in the City

This is a traditional Cantonese restaurant. They have the best possible dishes available, such as scallops, gai lan, kai-lan, Chinese broccoli; water spinach (morning glory); beef stir fry with vermicelli noodles; beef stir fry with mushrooms; Tofu Stir Fry; Sweet and sour chicken; Steam sea bass. Check also for the Chef's recommendations; the duck is also good. The only issue is that the Karaoke that sometimes is noisy.

We were staying near Tower bridge and fancied some Japanese cuisine. As we had a reservation at Sky Garden, we wanted somewhere near there and a quick Google search brought up this place. It's a little off the beaten track as it were, but it's well worth seeking out. It was pretty quiet when we went but don't let that put you off. This was a lovely restaurant with great food, attentive service and is good value for central London. We'll definitely consider this place next time we're in London!

Beautiful restaurant, lovely friendly service but really not fan of the food. 4 of us (friends) were all disappointed with our mains I'm afraid and it was very pricey so even more disappointing - lovely staff so hate to feedback like this - sorry!

We went on a saturday night at 6:30pm it was incredibly quiet, we were the only people here for some of the dinner. The food was excellent. The char siu buns were fantastic!

My bf and I went for a date a couple of weeks ago and absolutely enjoyed our time there. The restaurant was also much bigger and prettier than it appeared from Google photos. Definitely recommend

Go here a lot and we always love it. Given the other similar options such as hutong and ivy Asia are three time the price it’s a no brainer for me. My only comment is that gluten free and veggie options are limited. I don’t care of course but was not ideal for my guests . Dont miss the Szechuan chilli chicken. It is the best anywhere in london .

Our first visit to the Kirin restaurant and we had a lovely evening to celebrate valentines, lovely food, friendly and attentive staff and lovely ambience, we will certainly be returning and will bring our friends, thank you to the Kirin staff

We went to Kirin for celebrating the new year. They had greatest cold toll such as steamed chicken in chilli sauce. It is not really spicy but really tasty. We ordered the Kirin Mixed seafood as "seafood platter". I think we may try more different dishes in this platter and it was excellent! We also ordered the Peking duck for the main course. As it is very famous Chinese dish, this is my first time to try. It served with some cucumber, spring onion, sauce and pancake. It is interesting.

We arrived when they were just opend for dinner. The manager seems no really welcom us. We asked for a large table, then been told the minimum spend should be £400 something. We actually spent £385 (4adults and a 9-year-old boy) that night, and was allocated cornered joint tables. Really bed experience. Will never recommend.

Went to Kirin as a birthday party. We had a private Karaoke room . The food was excellent as was the service . We had a set meal which suited the party. The Karaoke machine has the cheesiest vídeos you have ever seen. But great fun

Nice to find an authentic chinese restaurant in the city, with quailty for and a little off the beaten track so away from the hustle and bustle that goes with a city lunch. I will be sure to re-visit.

Extremely great Chinese cuisine choice for everyone who works near bank station. I tried the Dong Po Rou with the staff suggestion. It is the pork belly with soya and wine scent in slow cook. Staff are welcoming and helpful. As I can't decide what to eat and ask them for any recommendation. Their suggestion won't let me down and surprising me.

Given menus when we arrived,totally ignored and after 20 mins we left. we had booked a week before so couldn't understand why no service. No idea whether the food is good or not!!!

It is great experience to have gathering with my friends. We launched the party in the restaurant with private karaoke room. We can enjoy the food and singing at the same time. Also, the large cosy private dining room make us so shock!!!! It is available to serve 20 people. Can’t wait to come back when I launch the party next time!!! I had a wonderful night there.

The meals are amazing, service polite, friendly and efficient and wine list is impressive. Especially the Aromatic Crispy Duck, it was amazing!! everyone should order this in their meal!! Prices are affordable, better to invite many people as you and order different types of choice to try more! We had a great evening and a great food experience. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Staffs are helpful. They will suggest some wine for dining. I would appreciate their suggestion. Also, the food were incredible especially seafood!! Their seafood were fresh and tasty!! The karaoke experience delighted our wonderful night with my friends. Will recommend everyone to launch a party by their private room :P

The location is absolutely fabulous for working in bank! The restaurant is located between bank station and mansion house, it is excellent to enjoy Chinese dinning when I have lunch or after work. Highly recommend to order the Sautéed Fillet with Sizzling Chilli for the spicy lover! It was smelly and tasty!! Also, I found that it is very famous in Sichuan food!! It founds 30 years ago! Nowadays, Sautéed Fillet with Sizzling Chilli is still well-known around the world! It should be “must try item” in Chinese food especially in Kirins!!!

I love to eat seafood, this restaurant have different method to cook the seafood very well. There is a food called "King Prawns with Wasabi” It is not spicy for the wasabi~ YUMMY!!

Before I try the seafood, I just know that seafood only can cook in western way. I am appreciated that Kirins restaurant is creative to cook the seafood so well! I just order the lobster in baked black bean and chilli sauce with my friends. We are both shocked when the lobster come to our table!! It looks delicious, fresh and tasty!! They also have so many types of wines to serve no matter in red win or Chinese spirit. We choose the wine to serve with the seafood, it turned us into the higher level to enjoy the seafood with recommendation wine!!! Recommend to all who come to restaurant!

Absolutamente fantástico para una deliciosa comida "pollo con chile seco"! Excelente personal para servir, son serviciales y habladores.Tienen muchos tipos de vinos para servir sin importar el vino tinto o el vino chino. Hay una mesa privada para que disfrutemos de las deliciosas comidas en el espacio privado. Mis amigos y yo estamos muy contentos con eso. ¡Tendré una próxima vez para reunirme con mis amigos! ! ! !

Had a business lunch here for 5 people. Quite a sterile restaurant with indifferent service. Food wise we went for the £32 set menu and added a few extra dishes. Food was ok but definitely not outstanding. All in all will not bother returning.

We were sat in one of your karaoke rooms and completely forgotten about. Had to come out and look for a staff member to order anything and pay the bill. The room lacked all atmosphere and the sofas were too low to eat from. Your staff also lacked knowledge on what was vegan friendly or any allergen information. They also admitted to buying some stuff in externally, which at the price of what you're charging is terrible!
