One of the worst meals I’ve ever experienced . This is what happens when you change from a traditional Indian to a commercial outlet. Service was appalling from the moment we walked in being greeted by a child in a white shirt with no serving training, leaning over everyone whilst serving. After ordering our meals, it took an age for the starters to arrive and one didn’t even arrive until the others had finished. Onion bhaji were dry and flavourless. Once the starters were finished, had to attract the kids attention to clear the table. When the mains finally arrived after a long wait, 2of the dishes were a asked to be mild and they were as hot as a madras which was ordered. The chicken in 3 of the he dishes was so dry it was unbeatable. Naan bread and a roti arrived half way through the meal and was too hot to eat. Most of the food ordered was left and uneatable . It’s just a shame that after Atik left it closed and has now gone down hill . As far as we’re concerned it will never pick back up . And to add after sitting here for 2.5 hrs… not one single person came in………. I WONDER WHY? And then after waiting for the bill to arrive. Was told our card machine isn’t working!!! What a joke !

Having lived in the area for 16 years, I’ve never taken the opportunity of sampling the cuisine in this restaurant as a dine in or takeaway. Since the end of June/ beginning of July I have ordered 3 takeaways from from Kipling and encountered issues on all 3 occasions. First off their website doesn’t advise that the restaurant doesn’t open on a Tuesday therefore you can’t place an order on line. Despite pointing this out several weeks ago it hasn’t been updated. 2 weeks ago I place a simply order to the value of £23 and waited 20 minutes to collect. When I arrived and asked about my take away, my question drew blanks and I was told all takeaways had been collected! What they actually didn’t do was process my order and the receipt was still sticking out of their ordering machine. That was another 20 minute wait and they didn’t even offer me a drink or poppodoms. Just a cursory apology. Yesterday (02/08/20) I placed another takeaway order, collected the items, admittedly without checking the bag when I left the restaurant to find that my lamb Jalfrezi was missing. I asked the restaurant if they could deliver and the answer was no because I’d paid for collection and activated the 10% discount. So that was another trip and my wife ate by herself followed by me on my return. Again a cursory apology and no offered to make up for yet another inconvenience. We really do try to support local businesses during these difficult times, and everyone will have a different experience, however I am so appalled by the takeaway service that I will no longer be ordering from Kipling and I will be taking my business elsewhere. This business has a lot to learn about customer service which is all the more surprising given how long they have been established in this part of Hendon!

This is not your ordinary run of the mill restaurant. the quality and freshness of the food is excellent.We have been at least half a dozen times now with differant family and friends, every single person has raved about the food .Last night was no exception,My nephew and his partner who live in the city joined us and said in future it will be their No one Indian to go to. We have been going to Kiplings for over 45 years and can honestly say its the best Indian food we have ever had. The service is also excellent.

Change of owners, change of menu, change of decor. It's all gone ultra-modern! The food was mostly excellent, and the presentation was beautiful and contemporary, rather than the traditional metal plates and bowls chucked on the table. One or two dishes needed a bit more oomph - the cauliflour was somewhat watery, the fish bhuna could be more piquant and the sauce thicker. The lamb in half a pineapple was amazing, the onion bhajees were among the best I've had, and the liver starter was a surprise hit. Also great breads and a saag paneer with real subtle flavours and richness. The decor needs a little more colour, and they have crammed in way too many tables. As a result, it felt quite sterile and cold as there were only 3 tables occupied, but I imagine it gets uncomfortable if at all full. They were 1 waiter down at the last minute and the guy who therefore had to do everything spoke about as much English as I speak Urdu. He tried, but the service was a little Fawlty Towers. I'll assume it's not usually like that. Prices are almost as cheap as the old Kiplings, especially for the veggie dishes. Overall it's perfectly decent, and the loss of the charm the old place had, with some of its unusual dishes (we miss the fruity malda!) has just about been offset by the modern cuisine options.

My order took 1 and a half hours to arrive. My starter was stone cold, my main was luke warm. They messed up my order for the main. Total waste of money - Don't bother

We used to go to the previous restaurant for many years, and were interested to try the new and updated Kiplings. What a fantastic surprise, a quality experience, and as a local you couldn’t do better, and probably not in most of London. From the friendly greeting and choice of tables to start, then once seated, cotton tablecloths and napkins set the standard, next then to choose from the unusually varied menu! We chose the sizzling mint dressed Keema Murgh, from the Punjab, and King Prawn Mooli, whole king sized prawns, both beautifully presented and uniquely delicious. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, and helped balancing the meal to taste. This is a gem of a restaurant, deserves to be recognized for offering high quality meals, produced from a 5 star rated kitchen, by a passionate highly experienced chef, locally, and just around the corner. Try it, it’s terrific, we’re sure you won’t be disappointed!

We went to Kiplings after its refurbishment. Food was superb. Staff were very polite and lovely. We had only main courses and couldn’t finish it - portions are big. It’s clean and crisp. Only improvement I’d recommend is the lighting - it’s very bright. The place would have more atmosphere if lights were dimmable, however the food makes up for this.

Having been here many times as a local resident I was sad to hear that the restaurant was closing albeit for refurbishment. However my worries were dash last night when we went and visited for the first time since the reopening. Delighted with the refurb, fresh ,clean, bright and the food was outstanding. The staff were friendly and attentive. We will be back again.

I used to go to Kiplings many years ago when it was a reliable if somewhat dull and dated local Hendon restaurant serving Indian food. To be honest the best thing about the old Kiplings was reliability and decent friendly service. A friend mentioned to me that they had closed down, refurbished and reopened under new ownership so I went with a small group of friends to try it out. Unfortunately I have to report that there is nothing nice at all about this restaurant. The decor is plain and dull, the greeting and table seating a little confused and the menu and food dull and uninspiring. The service was nothing special and to have to ask a few times to get the bill or some attention in a very quiet restaurant is just not acceptable. It appears that the new owners are incapable of making this restaurant anything other than just plain dull and uninviting. Needless to say I don’t think I’ll be returning at least not in this life anyway!

Tuvimos muy buena cena en esta cocina india Kiplings. Cada otro curry tiene este toque un poco diferente de sabor de la India. Creo que trabajarán en la decoración de los interiores, ya que el lugar ha sido renovado recientemente y le falta el ambiente indio.Sin duda recomiendo este lugar.

This restaurant has been closed for a few weeks while they remodeled the shop frount and inside.it is now nice and bright and new. They have a video projector but I am not very convinced that is an improvement.They serve the food very nicely in fancy shaped plates and sauce decorated plates.The food is certainly good but some of the dishes are better at other restaurants I have visited. They have a chicken liver starter which I liked but strangely they don't list a tandoori chicken starter. I expect they would provide it if you asked.The waiters seem to have been transformed to be ultra helpful and polite! I don't think they could be bettered anywhere now!

Used to be a regular, now I don't bother, found a hundred times better elsewhere, refurbishing at the moment, so there might be new owners? Still not bothered, try Bilash in Colindale, food is excellent, and they are alot cheaper!

We had a home delivery, and that included a phall hot chicken curry. I like really hot curries, and it was just that. This chicken phall was the best ever and the rice and tarka dhall was supreme. Such a great chef there.

Siempre ordene desde aquí cuando tenemos un curry para llevar, la comida siempre es increíble y nunca la encuentro aceitosa, algunos dirán que sí pero digo que no. Left out my mango chutney even though I paid for it! Also the food was really oily and not very tasty. The chapathi was very doughy in the middle. Wish I hadn't ordered the food!!

Curries were not as described on menu. For example it said mild and creamy however it was just mild. They were a bit bland and required a bit more spice and salt. Onion bhajis were the only thing that was tasty.

Food had no flavour. The tandori chicken curry made with coconut inside and was so red with food colouring. The dish had red colour after.

So disappointed, been a customer for years. It took 2 hours to arrive, was 45 minutes late and cold. And I phoned to specifically make sure my dish had no coriander as I am allergic and it arrived with coriander throughout mixed in and sprinkled all over. Won't be getting Kiplings again.

My food was over 39 mins late ontop of the 35/49 minute wait so I waited for more than an hour for my foood.

I would definitely recommend this place. Good quality food, amazing taste and nice ambiance. During busy period the food delivery may take longer than usual time to be served. Best to order via phone prior to your visit.

Said it before and I'll say it again. The best Indian food we've ever eaten. Service second to none. We've used this restaurant for 10 years and the standard has never changed. Very highly recommended without question.

Ive ordered from this restaurant before and mostly be happy with it. Last meal I ordered was DISGUSTING!!! I ordered for my family and the chicken was hard. Like if it had be sitting there for days!!! All the food was horrible!! I rang up and complained and the guy ask if I would like a new meal. I said NO!! I want a full refund!!! Drove all the way down to return food and only got half my money back!!! I wanted my full refund but got sorry manager not here he will call you!!!! Still waiting for a call. Never will order from this restaurant again!!! So disappointing

Avoid. Food tasted at least 2 days old and just reheated. Not fresh at all. And each dish had a thick layer of ghee on top. Spinach in the sag aloo was so old it was blackened. Potatoes tasted stale. Ordering an Indian takeaway is an expensive treat. This was a pure waste of money:(

I'm really confused by the positive reviews. The food came quickly but it was disgusting. The chicken tikka masala was grissly chicken in red food colouring, the so called pilau rice had no flavour and was very watery. I will not be ordering from here again and would not recommend it... most of the food is in the bin.

The food was horrible! I don't know how this place has so many good review. The Daal was so watery, it was disgusting. The Chicken Tikka masala tasted like a coconut curry. This really isn't Indian food. Highly recommend to order from somewhere else!
