Kintan Japanese BBQ in City of London, Westminster

This is kind of fun, you cook your own meat on a small table bbq. It was all very salty and prob a bit over cooked, admittedly by us - but we had fun. The big prob was we took the set menu for three, but when the food came there was more than enough for 4 big eaters. We had to cram it all n. Then got charged for a meal for 4 when we were only a 3 and had made that clear. £60 was on drinks, but the total bill for 3 was £230 which is super pricey! Wouldn’t go back as this is terrible value and it’s more gimmicky than tasty.

Booked lunch and so glad we did - great selection of food and really enjoyed the experience of grilling our selection of meats and prawns … staff friendly, polite and helpful with meal selection as BBQ course for two was ample for three (Ninja course) plus we ordered another side but didn’t really need it … S’mores for dessert were interesting treat for the marshmallow lovers (alas not me!) Love the concept of HH! Would recommend and gladly return for a slow- paced, gentle way of having an enjoyable BBQ lunch.

Horrific service by both Tamara and Sachin. When we arrived the girl from the bar on the first floor told us our friends were not in there and that we needed to book, our friends were there and waiting for us. When we sat down, Tamara rolled her eyes when I’d asked her for an extra 5 minutes as we had just arrived and not had a chance to look at the drinks menu. Slammed plates and glasses down, uninviting, careless, were too busy flirting and play fighting to get us our drinks that we’d asked several times over the span of an hour. It had even gone so far they brought our drinks out twice as they’d entered them into the terminal and forgotten about them. As if this wasn’t bad enough, we had never been to a place like this before, we have been to several establishments in London this weekend that had given us a run through their menu with great detail and care, they really did just not give a flying hoot. It was a mandatory service charge, which was absolutely not deserved. The food was nice, but the portions were not great for the price. Genuinely don’t think we got a four person meal, like I said the service was so poor that I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t bring out the full amount of food stated on the menu. Finally, I went to use the women’s toilets before we left which were filthy and overflowing with toilet paper. For £213.75, I’d go literally ANYWHERE else.

We visited this resturant to celebrate a big birthday and had such a fun time. The vast menu can be overwhelming but Casia, our waitress helped us through it and we were not disappointed. Thank you for your expertise in choosing the right meal plan for us. We will be back.

Utterly superb meat feast at very reasonable price. Properly good bang for your buck. A treat for lunch today. Friendly, easy going staff

Good points: Food, by and large, was tasty. The fact this place is frequented by so many Japanese and other Asian people suggests it is authentic and decent. I also felt it was pretty good, based on my own experience living in Japan for many years. The green tea tiramisu was a novelty. I loved the crisp outer layer. The tea flavour was rather weak though. Could have done with a little more. Still very good though. Not so good points: Overall poor value – Portion sizes small. The chicken pieces for the grill were small, to the point of almost falling through the grill. Was almost like the leftovers from making the karaage. Service was not good. I appreciate they are busy and it is just after Christmas but the staff were miserable and inattentive and brusque when they did interact with us. Our desserts were sitting on the counter for 5 minutes, totally ignored repeatedly by various staff before someone brought them over. Took ages to have someone take our order and then, like London buses, another person came straight over to try to take our order again! Asked for tap water 3 times before we got it. First time, just didn’t bring it, second time apparently they didn’t have any glasses. Finally got it at third time of asking. The food was tasty so I won’t give up on this place just yet and will try it again sometime soon but it’s only a 3 star right now.

My recent visit to Kintan, a Japanese BBQ restaurant, left me disappointed. This isn't the first time I've felt rushed in an Asian BBQ joint – I had a similar experience at a Korean BBQ place before. At Kintan, the staff seemed more concerned about turning tables quickly than ensuring customers enjoyed their meals. They served us in a hurry, handed us the bill before we finished our drinks, and ushered us out within an hour. Considering we spent over £100, the less-than-pleasant experience was disheartening. On a positive note, a subsequent visit to a hotel bar - Radisson Blu Edwardian Mercer Street Hotel, emphasized the value of genuine hospitality. The staff there took the time to provide excellent service, allowing us to enjoy our drinks without feeling rushed. Regrettably, Kintan falls short in terms of customer service and overall dining atmosphere. The rushed service and lack of consideration for patrons make it a place I wouldn't recommend. It underscores the importance of seeking establishments that prioritise a more enjoyable and relaxed dining experience.

Was a great early evening meal, our daughter really enjoyed the mini bbq in the table and mixing the sauces. We slipped in around 4.30 and found HappyHour pricing, restaurant was busy but not full we went straight to a table no booking. As we left was certainly getting busy with a cue at the door

Our second visit to Kintan was just as good as the first. Fast, friendly service and fabulous food - even if I cooked it myself! Definitely try the duck. My wife is vegetarian and loves the halloumi as well as the cheesy corn. The kids love everything about this place, especially the smores for pudding. Our only gripe is that it is expensive for the portion sizes, and the cocktails are especially pricey, given that they're 80% ice.

Whilst Kintan is Japanese styled and to be fair is pretty good at it, it does not quite transport you to authentic Japan. That said the food is really very good and the restaurant a fusion of Japan and western influence. This is though a BBQ restaurant where slices of meat and vegetables are put before you to cook, at the table. The menu is well laid out, what the menu picture shows is, what you get. My Wife, Daughter and I went for lunch, choosing a selection from the set lunch and premium menus, with the Premium Meats worth the extra cost. Overall an enjoyable couple of house in a nice restaurant with ok customer service.

Where to start… the meat that turned up was completely unseasoned and didn’t appear to have been oiled at all, meaning it stuck to the grill repeatedly, which itself was nowhere near hot enough to cook the meat properly. Moreover, the quality of the meat itself was low and the edamame served was cold. Staff were hapless and repeatedly forgot drinks orders. They also made little effort to clear our table which was bursting with plates and therefore uncomfortable to sit at. I will never return to Kintan. A far cry from, and second rate imitation of, the amazing eateries found in East Asia.

I’ve heard so much great things about this place and my boyfriend took me here on a Sunday afternoon which was also happy hour so that was great. Entrance - During the day it’s hard to find as from the outside looking in it looks like a ran down Chinese shop, it could do with better decor but when we left it was darker so I took pics and it looked a lot better. There was also no one at the main desk so we was standing there for a while waiting to be greeted but someone eventually came! Food - Food was to die for. I even took some home. It’s nice because you don’t have to wait long because you’re cooking it yourself at your own pace so it was delicious. I also ordered some vegetable garlic noodles which were AMAZING! So so tasty! The ribeye steak was chef kissing good and the spicy chicken was sooo good and well seasoned! Drinks - my partner and I ordered a beer called Asahi and it was really nice we ordered 2 each. I also ordered a coke with a slice of lemon. It did take FOREVER to come though. We ordered it and saw the drinks sitting at the bar for ages and got it 15 mins later. It might have been busy but even so. I was so tempted to just go up and get it myself. Decor - Decor was nice, very modern and sharp. I wouldn’t change anything about it. Cleanliness - Very clean, the toilets were also very clean too. Customer service - Customer service was good, everyone was super friendly. I do feel it lacked staff as I could see everyone running around like headless chickens but otherwise, good. Everyone was pleasant. Overall - It was a great experience, my first time cooking my own meal at a restaurant, I would definitely return.

I booked for 1.00pm. I rang at 1240 to say I would be there at 1.15pm. There was no reply. I left a message. I arrived at 1.15 to be confronted by a very aggressive, angry man who almost physically ejected me through the door, all the while shouting at me unintelligibly. One of the grimmest and most bizarre experiences in 50 years of visiting restaurants. Stay away...you have been warned

Very yummy friendly Japanese bbq experience. Waitress was friendly and food came out fast. Portions are generous for sides. Egg drop soup was not great. The garlic friend rice was very good. Chicken was excellent. Lychee rose cocktail was very good. Kids had a blast.

We used to lunch regularly at Kintan - great food and great service, one of my regular go-to restaurants when friends were in town. Went back there recently after a long break and was shocked at the decline in service and food quality. Awful, and I will not be going back to what used to a favorite.

I really enjoyed visiting here for a double date. We got the set menu that was about £32/person. The starters arrived in less than 5 minutes and were all tasty in good portions. Then the meat, prawns and vegetables arrived to grill with rice and noodles and I was worried it would be too much!! But it turned out to be just the right portion for all of us (a mixture of small and big eaters). The s’mores at the end were a nice touch. The grill was nice and hot so it was quick to cook the food.
