Booked tickets to see film in characterful auditorium, then thought "why not grab a bite to eat there beforehand?" Bit nervous that we might not get served quickly enough but needn't have worried. Attentive and friendly waiting staff kept our food coming through in good time. Really enjoyed my delicious fish chowder. Thanks all.

We visited here on a Saturday night and was not disappointed. From the friendly greeting from the waitress to the great food and drink it was a brilliant evening. We were worried that since the restaurant changed for the Parlour to Reel that things may have changed but to our delight it had not. Everything about it was equally as good. We will be back again soon and cannot recommend it highly enough.

This is for the restaurant called Parlour- I can't find it listed separately from Kino. It's OK, our food was ok, nothing soecial. Service was pretty bad. Got charged for something we hadnt ordered. Had the muscles which were actually chewy and unflavoursome. Quite disappointing.

I've been here twice now. The first time we were in the main hall part and it was a bit cold, but an interesting space and we got over the slightly chilly feel and had good food, lovely wine. There was a mirror at the table and it meant that one of us was permanently looking at ourselves, which was quite odd, so we put a coat over the mirror. The owner comes up and asks us if we think the gallery looks nice, in a very passive aggressive way, and asks us to remove the coat. We do, feel hackles rising, but don't want to ruin the evening by having a row about it, and had a nice time. The second time I ask to be in the restaurant part of the room, much more intimate for smaller groups and a lovely space, as were the staff. We had some starters, calamari but too thick a batter, and some battered prawns, and some fritters which were nice enough, but it did feel very average, and all a bit deep-fried/heavy. Then for the main two of us had laksa which, to be honest, was dreadful. It was so thick and had rice in it which was just weird, and it tasted very oddly of 70's curry power mix. One of the party couldn't eat it and it was taken off the bill, and the other was half eaten by us sharing the lamb dish, which was good. The mussels apparently tasted a bit odd, but they were eaten so must have been OK. The pudding list came as we were still quite hungry but it was the same puddings as everywhere else - brownies etc. so we didn't really bother. There is something quite special about this restaurant and I am so glad it is in the town but I suspect it thinks it is slightly better than it actually is. I suggest a little more thought is needed about what would make a good, say calamari as a starter, or what a laksa actually is. The place is fab, we probably just got an off day, but some of the food was so off track, I do wonder.

Second time visited for supper, having previously attended for just a cup of coffee one morning and a breakfast on another. This time I ventured out on a bitterly cold late November evening at a sensible time before it got too full with customers. I ordered a pleasant duck confit served with pommes dauphinoise which was complimented by a good glass of Granacha. The meat was succulent and the potatoes tender. However, on my visits I have considered the customer service approach from staff to be very 'hit and miss'; quite distant and a little unseasoned. To end with, the waitress promised me the bill, then walked past my table twice whilst looking up at me before ultimately handing it over. In weathering the Covid situation with the inevitability of rising prices, I feel there could be room for improvement.

We went to Kino-Teatr to see a jazz singer, Barb Jungr, who had been recommended to us. This was our first visit and we immediately warmed to the bohemian friendly nature of the venue. The seats were very comfortable and it was possible to drink while watching the performer. Only criticism, the building is hard to define with two art galleries and a restaurant as well as the cinema/theatre; the signage could be better. We're avidly looking for a future gig that we might enjoy in this unique space.

This afternoon against better judgement I decided to lunch here Last week I had a nice but expensive coffee with unfriendly service However wanted to check again as felt positive about gallery which I had previously visited before my accident and wanted to check out accessibility again thinking of theatre performances No sooner had I arrived at the counter in my scooter to order A man came out of nowhere did not introduce himself asked if I was having a meal I was startled didn’t know why he was asking replied yes He told me I couldnt sit at the table as I was in the way I replied I was just queuing He was abrupt and rude I went to another table out of the way after ordering There was not a reserved sign. The man appeared again and told me I could not sit there either He talked AT me rather than with me said there was a coach party coming and wanted to send me to gallery side Had enough by this stage and tried to discuss he spoke over me and said he sympathised which he clearly didn’t but actually I just expected ordinary courtesy and empathy but not patronising with sympathy He did not want to Listen I was clearly a nuisance to him In my view he acted illegally in that he discriminated against me by being disrespectful and treating me less favourably than if I had been able bodied I asked for my money and left I do not expect for someone in the hospitality industry to be so inhospitable I have worked with the public all my life until I became disabled and would have faced disciplinary proceedings if I had behaved in this rude dismissive and discriminatory manner

This place is a wonderful re-invention . It used to be a plumbers supplier - I think . It is stylishly arranged. with a mainly vintage style . The restaurant / cafe has an interesting menu , not cheap but good. Coffee is great . The gallery is worth browsing although not sure how often this is varied. It has a unique events calendar . I have visited to see a film in the cinema which has an attractive bar and interior . Wendy May's Locomotion on monthly is worth visiting if you like to dance to Northern Soul , Motown and 70''s Funk . A great asset to St Leonards - thank you for doing what you do.

Pleasant afternoon showing, we'd been meaning to see a film here for some time after eating lunch a few months ago, which was lovely. The seating is varied depending on how early you go in there are sofas, armchairs and well plumped standard vintage cinema seats. As two tall people the standard seats are a tad low but the film was under two hours so wasn't a problem but my knees were higher than my hips so something to keep in mind. The temperature is good, sound OK, the trailer for Avengers was really loud, but the film we saw was fine. I'm not sure I'd cope with the trailer volume for long. Definitely be going back, really good prices too, lovely little bar inside. Couldn't find a waste bin though afterwards.

Booked the Kino in St Leonards for a group celebration event. The staff were not only frosty and got orders wrong but the manager seemed to be extremely annoyed at our presence. He was abrupt and when the event finished at 9pm he actually started shouting at people to leave. I was putting my coat on and he said loudly and in my face “get out now, leave!”. I will not be returning and witnessed (sober as I was driving) the strangest behaviour to our group who not only paid a large hire fee for the venue but a lot of money on alcohol and soft drinks - avoid like the plague.

St Leonards is probably the coolest town in England - certainly the coolest seaside town - and the KIno-Teatr is its coolest venue. There's music, movies, art, coffee, wine and middle-eastern food. We went for lunch, were given menus but no wine list. We then waited 15 minutes for the waitress to come back and take our order. We asked if there was a possibility of some bread as we had a hungry 12 year old with us. Despite there being 'toast and preserves' on the menu, the waitress explained that they had done bread baskets previously but as it was not featured on this menu we couldn't have it. We then ordered our food and two glasses of wine at £6 a glass, we waited 10 minutes for our wine before the waitress came back explaining that this particular Pinot Noir was out of stock and we could have the other Pinor Noir at £7.50 per glass instead. At this stage we had been waiting for well over half an hour. Our food was eventually brought to us, however we quite clearly had no cutlery or napkins and we did not see our waitress again, we had to go along to another table and get it ourselves. We were not asked how our food was, nor if we wanted any more water. It's a real shame as the food was lovely and we have previously visited the gallery and cinema so were excited to try the restaurant however, the particular member of staff who served us really brought down the afternoon with incredibly passive aggressive behaviour. I live locally and I won't be returning anytime soon...

I wish this restaurant/cafe was in Hastings Old Town. My fish soup was excellent as was the frittata. Service excellent too - will definitely be returning soon. The cinema looks lovely with sofas and a bar.

Beautifully balanced flavours, excellently executed, this is accomplished cooking served by lovely, enthusiastic staff. I cannot rate it highly enough and may they never take the truffle bread and butter pudding off the menu!!

A real gem, do visit this slice of Shoreditch by the Sea. Small menu. Big pleasure. Moroccan themed food. Very competent cooking at work.

We decided to meet a friend for Sunday lunch and I'm afraid that is quite tricky in St Leonards. We decided to give Kino a try and lo and behold they had a veggie option on. It was delicious! Great atmosphere. There's a cinema, gallery and they have events as well. You can just pop in for a coffee or glass of wine, croissant or cake or just have a browse at the Russian art in the great gallery space! We have actually been back since this visit, all have been great! A fantastic addition to the quite limited eateries in the area.

This place is very odd. I knew it long ago as the Curzon cinema. It has now transformed into a visionary place with multiple functions. It appears to be thriving. We took a grandmother and three grandchildren to the cinema and then left them there while we had a delicious coffee. The place was full of Guardianistas, Vintagarios, Arty liberal types. But it didn't feel too pretentious. It felt down to earth and with a good atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and unsnooty. Snooty staff would ruin a place like this (in my opinion).

Went to see "Dior and I", the film was wonderful! The venue is a curious one. It is a bit of everything and much of nothing. The bar/restaurant is "trendy", staff apathetic bordering on a little rude. One steps in and is almost immediately ignored, there is no one on the door. At the bar, no drinks menus were on display. I ordered 2 glasses of wine, one red the other white. No wine list was offered, the bartender simply grunted and pointed at 2 different bottles. I was later informed that they only had enough of my preferred red for a small glass. The overall conclusion is that this could be brilliant, if only it knew what it wanted to be?! The cinema reminded me of the Electric on Portobello Road, just without the budget. Would I go again? Sure for the cinema, but until the rest of the place establishes its identity, that's all I can recommend.

We had planned to eat here before seeing a film, but to be honest, we couldn't see anything we fancied. The menu was a pretentious jumble. Clearly this is trying to be London on Sea. Must be the "place to be seen!". Not for us though. We stuck to two glasses of wine, one large, one small. Overpriced at £11.50.

Kino is an awesome place to eat, drink, talk, relax, watch a movie. Daily mix of art house and new release films. Beautiful classic cinema with luxury comfy seats and a bar. Great sound system and projector. Great food and wine you can take in to the cinema. And a great gallery space. What's not to like? You can just eat, drink, or have a coffee and cake. Superb addition to the town. If this was in London it would be permanently booked out. Being as Hastings/St. Leonards is so cool, it's always busy, but you can usually get a seat/table..... for now....

Really good food, freshly prepared, good choice. Wonderful setting as part of the Russian gallery. Ask to go and visit the renovated cinema or watch a film and have a meal. Lovely staff, keen to chat to the customers.

I was very lucky to be taken to the restaurant here on Christmas Eve and what a sheer delight it was. It has a great buzzy and artistic atmosphere with the foods so beautifully cooked and presented. We had such a great time ( one of the first tables to eat and pretty well the last to leave!! ) I am so looking forward to introducing this gem of a place to some friends and hopefully see a film perhaps after a lunch. This part of St-Leonards -on-Sea is a very exciting place.

This is a theatre, cinema, restaurant and gallery. Where else can you sit in comfortable plushy seats, with a bar, and watch a great film at the same time. We have just seen Dr Zhivago, which was wonderful in its self, but to do so in these lovely surroundings was fantastic. We did not eat on this occasion but my daughter has previously and says the restaurant is excellent.

We arrived in St Leonards the day before Christmas Eve and were looking for somewhere reasonable to eat. We chanced upon Kino and thought we'd risk it. It's always tricky keeping my vegetarian wife happy when eating out and although there were only two choices on the menu to suit her, she loved the mushroom risotto. My fish dish was superb and our waitress was more than helpful. We returned the following night to see 'It's a wonderful life' but sadly the restaurant was fully booked. would recommend without a doubt.

Went by chance for lunch on Sunday. Fascinating set up with cafe/restaurant, art gallery, and small but glamorous cinemas/performance studio with armchairs and bar ! Loved it! Very interesting Russian art on display, and the performance studio looks just great - and we had a very nice lunch. Roast pork was excellent, wine very good. Nice and busy, very good service, and most enjoyable. On a terrible windy rainy day our initial table near the door was a bit drafty but were moved without any fuss. Full of character and very enjoyable indeed - every town would benefit from one if these !

Super little tapas bar/restaurant, £20 lunch platter for two is brilliant value, with a really nice selection of bread, meets and vegetables. One of the nicest lunch stops I’ve had in ages. Will certainly be telling fiends if they are heading to Hastings.

We were greeted warmly by our welcoming host who was clearly passionate about her cuisine... and art. We loved the cheerful decor and eclectic art collection on display. A three course dinner was much enjoyed as every plate was delicious. Highly recommended 👌🏻
