Cocktails are strong, staff are friendly and food is delightful! One of hastings' treasures

I just want to say a huge thanks to the chef and kitchen team (I think the chef’s name was Sam?). I came here on a Saturday and found that the team really catered to my dietary requirements. If you have any allergies/intolerances/requirements, they are really helpful with making sure you are looked after and you leave feeling full! The food was great and atmosphere was fab.

Rude staff, awful service, zero atmosphere!

Sadly, this place really isn’t what it used to be. We booked for our mum’s birthday dinner as we’ve previously had very good experiences. On arrival, we weren’t greeted and then asked if we were ready to order before we’d had menus bought to the table. These were eventually delivered almost 15 minutes after we’d arrived. After we’d then ordered, our food was delivered piecemeal over about 20 minutes, and was placed on the edge of our table as the waitress walked through the restaurant. The dishes weren’t explained. Our drinks were also placed on the edge, leaving us to replace everything in the centre of our table for 4 to be shared. The food was mediocre, but edible. Cocktails were fine. After about 10pm it was clear that the staff were keen to have a party. The music was turned up so loud that we couldn’t hear each other while they drank and danced behind the bar. We asked to order more drinks to our table and were told there was no table service anymore and we had to order at the bar. Maybe I’m expecting too much, but we spent almost £200 and I would have thought as we sat down as dinner guests we’d be afforded table service until we had settled the bill. Disappointed and won’t return.

We stumbled across this place following a 20km hike and were absolutely starving. It looked like a nice place however we left disappointed. For a tapas restaurant, there were some basic items done badly - in particular the tortilla and pan con tomate. The tortilla was not like any Spanish tortilla i've ever seen - it looked more like a frittata as it was mostly egg and had little cubes of potato (which were not properly cooked through) scattered on top where the potato should be thinly sliced and layered through. It tasted predominantly of onion. The pan con tomate was not pan con tomate - it was garlic bread with a cooked tomato and garlic sauce spread on top. I usually love this dish because it is so fresh with the fresh tomatoes and drizzled with delicious olive oil (which seemed to be absent), so this was the most disappointing. The other disappointing dish was the jamon, which was disconcertingly floppy rather than the usual slight hardness from being cured and rather thickly cut. Oddly, it was also served with gherkins and two slices of what seemed to be a focaccia-style bread (not very Spanish). The bread was quite dry and flavourless so we asked the waitress for a drop of olive oil to dip it in to make it more edible, however she told us that was not possible and if we wanted olive oil we would need to order a separate bread dish which it came with. That seemed very unreasonable. My recommendation to the restaurant would be to serve this bread already drizzled with a little olive oil or provide a drop of it in a small dish alongside. I also noticed there was halloumi on the menu, which while delicious is decidedly not Spanish or typical tapas. Overall, not impressed with the food or the service but the ambience of the restaurant and outside seating is quite nice and the sangria was reasonably good. Highly recommend the chef/restaurant owner invests in a good Spanish tapas cookbook to master the basics and avoid disappointing paying customers in future.

We visited here Saturday for the bottomless brunch. The sharing board for plentiful and delicious. We upgraded and paid extra so we could have the cocktails which meant you could have bottomless drinks from both lists for 2hrs. They were freshly made and flowed the entire 2hrs. Service was great too. Would recommend and and return.

Great tapas bar .great local bands .really freindly atmosphere

My daughter was sitting on a stool and did not realise there was a candle burning behind her. Her hair was singed and her coat completely ruined. Luckily a friend saw what had happened and put it out with her bare hand. I showed the staff the coat but was just told a customer must have moved the candle. There was no apology or offer to pay for the coat. The incident could have been so much worse. Disgusting customer service. Would NEVER visit there again.

Enjoyed a tapas lunch. On a sunny day, the outdoor seats get lovely and warm and could, at a pinch, be a calle somewhere in Spain. Dishes were tasty, decent veggie/vegan options, great sangria. Only quibble would be that things like halloumi aren’t Spanish; greater range of Spanish specialties would tip this to being memorable rather than great but, all in all, top lunch spot in the Old Town.

We had a lovely evening in Seed, great food reasonably priced and friendly staff. Thank you. We will be back

Best place to eat and drink in hastings old town! Friday and Saturday nights are great fun, staff amazing, attentive and food perfect!

Went for a bottomless brunch with friends. Tapas and 2 hours of drinks . To celebrate a birthday . The venue itself was really cold. We spent most of the meal shivering. The food was nice but a small chopping board for 4 people was poor value for money . We thought it would be a chopping board between two . The drinks were horrible Tom Collins had no alcohol ( or sugar in it ) so was just sour lemon water, sangria lacked taste. Tasted like red wine and orange juice it contained some apple pieces but that was it. Mimosa wasn’t nice either. Two of our party were not drinking and none alcoholic drinks were extra. The waitress/ bar tender pretty much ignored us - we had to keep asking for drinks . Another lady came out later and made a Tom Collins which tasted much better. I think she may have been the owner . Probably would have been better if she had been making the drinks On the whole we were all really disappointed for £35 a head wouldn’t recommend . Would be better with more drink choices and beer included and more attentive barmaid

Had the most experience here. Staff were super friendly and the food was great. A fusion of both Spanish tapas and English to keep it recognisable. I went with my girlfriends, and had the BEST paella - made from scratch - along with a couple of tapas dishes. We were told it was new to the menu so wanted honest feedback. I absolutely loved it all. Cocktails were delicious and the service exceptional! Thank you to the whole team x

Had a great lunch heard good things about this place so decided to give ot try. We had a pealla and couple of other small tapas dishes. Pealla was great but very filling. Drinks where great and service was great

Lovely bar, great food and service

A family night out in this busy restaurant with good service an d atmosphere . However the food was a very poor and very expensive aporoximation of Spanish tapas . Calamari barely cooked whilst Whitebait ( boquerones ) overcooked. prawns pil oil that should have been called prawns peel peel were smoky not garlicky. The Paella was the worst I have ever seen greasy , overcooked and ridiculously overpriced . Churros were stale , maybe a few days old . Sangria that was made from God only knows what . And before you come back and say I don’t know what I am talking about I lived in rural Spain for 20 years . To crown it all it cost £358. Terribly disappointed.

Popped in on an impromptu food stop whilst drinking around the old town. This was my first visit despite passing it many times over the last few years. Staff were very attentive, drinks were great service was excellent and the tapas were delicious. It was £105 for a bottle of rioja blanco, 8 tapas and 3 pornstar martinis. Fair price for a great setting. What was most loved was it appeared to be a female only space in terms of customers and staff. This is highly unusual and may have been a one off but was wonderful nonetheless. The 3 females behind the bar were exceptional with their service with some conversation in English and some in Spanish. The gambas pil pil were delicious and the wild mushroom croquettes were my favourite.

Used to love this venue but so disappointed after recent experience and won’t be returning. Sat us at wrong table and moved even though we had booked, shouted at us, brought the wrong drinks for multiple of us and staff clearly under the influence. Food was average and atmosphere was awful. Used to ge music and good but this was so loud couldn’t hear each other and staff so rude!

Visited for our wedding anniversary on a Sunday lunchtime and was very quiet. Restaurant is small but cosy. Food was excellent as was the service. Would thoroughly recommend if you love tapas.

We had a brilliant evening here. The food was really lovely- all 6 dishes we tried plus very nice fresh focaccia! The specials were especially good. The staff there were really friendly and were lovely to our baby son so we felt really welcomed and comfortable.

What an amazing experience we had on Saturday 12th August for the bottomless brunch. The person running front of house was amazing! So accommodating, it was quiet when we arrived but soon got very busy but the attentiveness did not let up, she was so brilliant! On top of that the sharing platter was delicious (I’m still thinking about the beetroot toast) as were the drinks! Thanks so much! We’ll be back!

Drinks well done, frozen margarita we ordered was great. Food underwhelming overall despite presentation. Don't order Octopus. Not fresh and too oily. Prawns OK. The Beetroot Borani we ordered was very poor. No flavour or taste. Mixe Meatballs also very unflavored and boring. Place is a good atmosphere anyway. Enjoyed our time regardless but not worth price.

My Hen do was booked here for a bottomless brunch for 11 people and although the place is very cozy the staff were more than accommodating for our large group and we did not feel in the way at any point, bottomless drink options are amazing and i didnt have to chase to get a refill, the food from the sharing board was delicious and my coeliac friend was catered for really well and she also rated the food highly. Thankyou to everyone for a lovely relaxing brunch, frozen Margheritas were bloody delicious.

Went in for dinner with my partner and seven year old child. My partner is disabled and has a broken back. We asked if we could sit down table at the back but we was refused by the manager. He was very rude I suggest boycott this restaurant at all costs absolute disgrace

Overall, it was a great experience. Food was very tasty and the cocktails too. A really nice bar, restaurant with a lively atmosphere.

Great atmosphere and amazing food!

I happened upon this place whilst being a tourist in Hastings and have to say that I was most delighted by this find... A small tapas restaurant serving lovely freshly cooked dishes... I had boquerones - white anchovies served in vinegar, a selection of fried battered seafood, Croquetas - a common sight in bar counters and homes across Spain of deep fried balls with a sumptuous filling accompanied with a lovely aioli dip (a sauce consisting of an emulsion of garlic and olive oil), and a spinach dish with pine nuts and raisins... There were so many other dishes on the menu so need to give them all a try next time... Lovely and attentive staff... One restaurant I would recommend!

Pleasant atmosphere, helpful and courteous staff. Food very edible but not all of it tastes authentic e.g. pil pil, papayas bravas 2 sittings in the evening: 18.00hrs and 20.00hrs.

Booked this for NYE dinner having heard good things about it some time ago. Was a tad nervous having seen the ranking on here but absolutely no need to be - food, wine, service and atmosphere all fantastic.

I absolutely loved it here. I enjoyed date night with my partner and am soon to return with some friends. Delicious food, lovely staff, great drinks and amazing, buzzy atmosphere. A true tapas delight!

If you’re visiting Hastings, you have to go here! The best tapas we have ever had, everything was delicious, and great value for money. It is a very stylish location, great music and the bar tender was very friendly. We will definitely be coming back!

The original and best Tapas Bar in Hastings. The food is fantastic and well priced. There is the standard menu plus a specials board. The drinks selection is wide and varied including properly made cocktails. In the summer it is the perfect spot to sit outside. In winter it is cosy and warm inside. The staff are fantastic. Highly recommended but try to remember to book a table at busy times

A birthday supper. Terrific food and service and really buzzy atmosphere and soundtrack. There wasn't a single disappointing dish. Great cocktails too.

The thing about Seed is the sense of pride the staff have about giving you a great experience. Every dish was excellent, the staff paid attention to any questions or wishes. We talked about different drinks and were given help in understanding new cocktails we hadn't tried. This is a great venue that you need to try!!

What a lovely Team. So friendly and on the ball. The food was as our young man said "amazing". Just a perfect little find in the old Town. Don't change a thing! It works wonderfully.

Sustainable hair salon! Recycling hair and aluminium foil. All products are vegan, currently free and biodynamic.

Lovely place to sit and people watch and the server was super friendly but we found the food disappointing - not the most authentic or tasty tapas we have had.

We ate here on a Thursday evening and had the best time. The quality of the Tapas (cooked by a great young chef managing kitchen on his own) was amazing - gambas pil-pil and jamon croquettes as good as we've eaten in Spain. Such a friendly lovely experience with the staff too and located within the old town which is full of independent bars and eateries with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

I don't even know how to express how good these tapas were! We had such a great meal. It's hard to find authentic Spanish tapas but these were absolutely amazing. I would say the best lunch I've had while in Hastings. I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in town!

Great little place. Food was excellent and so was the service. Tried 4 different tapas and all of them were delicious. Good value for ur buck. Would recommend for a light lunch!

Definitely 5 stars - the food, the atmosphere, the drinks, the staff... I've been multiple times now and will continue to return. I had a mocktail which was just lovely! The only thing I really didn't like is the dried hanging piece of animal next to the bar but I just make sure to sit facing away.

We had a very pleasant experience here. We had a buggy with us and the staff were very accommodating to fit us in. The tapas and pinchos were lovely and service was quick and friendly.

Popped in for a last minute lunch so didn’t have a reservation. Food and service were great. Had a really enjoyable time and will definitely make this a must visit place when we are in the area.

Wow what a little gem this is, as we peered in the window we almost passed as it was empty. Thank goodness we went in, the food was amazing and the service friendly. The music mellow and . The artichoke tempura was utterly devine. Highly recommend

We came in one Sunday afternoon for lunch as a family, which we don’t get much time to do this together. We walked in and the lady at the bar asked if we sit down at the table near the door while she prepares the table at the back for 6. The atomosphere was very uncomfortable for about 10mins and it was not a nice welcome and most of us felt it and it’s not something you should feel or experience when you are out for lunch. So we sat down by the window and waited and because we had a buggy we put the buggy near the bar and she didn’t offer us drinks at that time whilst we were waiting. She wasn’t happy that the buggy was in her way and instead asking politely she rudly asked us to move buggy. After the table was cleared we sat down at the table at the back and after a couple of minute she took our drink order and then after drinks had come. The waiteress took our food order and this was okay. Food was absolutely delicious and incredible, can’t fault how delicious the food was and always is! I can defo recommend a lot of dishes especially the croquettes. Then we asked for the bill after the food and we went to the bar to pay. We are regular customers and this isn’t an experience we are used to and hope for a better experience next time 🙏 Bella x

Great experience, tasty food, plenty of selection. We were a party of 5 and tried nearly everything on the menu. Very nice wine selection, after our tapas and dessert we had some cocktails and Sambuca. Staff were very attentive, explained how the tapas worked and each dish that came out ( there were many) Thank you Seed Hastings for a lovely Sunday afternoon. 🤗

We booked a table here 8th January 2022 for my birthday. Wow food is amazing, one of the best tapas we've had. Staff sang happy birthday and presented me with a free shot and mini cake with candle ( lovely touch) All staff were lovely but a special shout out to Ryan (I think was his name) who was fabulous and looked after us all evening.

Had great tapas, presented lovely and tasty. Tomato bread was particularly good. Toilets sadly were filthy which given covid was quite stressful! Barman great and was making fab cocktails

I came to Seed with my boyfriend a few weeks ago, the atmosphere was great and the food was to die for! We was served by a man called Ryan, who made the whole night feel so relaxed with his brilliant customer service.

No need for a long review, it’s perfect. Staff and food are wonderful.

After previously booking table, they completely lost booking and offered a table for an hour. I had belly of pork that was hardly cooked and was almost un eatable. The next course was Serano ham that was50% fat, worse quality than can be bought at...

Haven’t they heard - animal agriculture/eating meat is one of the leading causes of climate change. Surely it's time to up their game with a full vegan menu. Come on guys! Meat is dead.

The food could be better, the chicken special , which is £10 for a portion of chicken fillet that is cut into 4, was well overpriced. Left feeling hungry and light on the wallet. I would expect portions to be priced at around £4.50-£5.00 that...

Friend chose this place for dinner. I'm glad they did, as I'd been meaning to try for a while. It was ok. Nothing to write home about at all. The chicken "special" was bland. The patatas bravas lacked depth of flavour. The calamari was rubbery....

What a place. Lovely - seriously lovely - tapas. Easily among the best we’ve tried anywhere. Really good selection of drinks. Very cosy place, whether indoors or out ( there are four small tables outside the front), and, most importantly, very friendly and welcoming staff....

Incredible food! Really one of the best places to eat in Hastings.

Have visited twice in the last month - once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times the food was well cooked and delicious. Recommend the padron peppers, boquerones, pan tomate, albondigas, tortilla, sangria ... in fact everything.

This is a fabulous tapas bar, very Spanish with great food and wine. Cocktails look good too. Staff are friendly and helpful, despite being run off their feet. This is a justifiably busy bar. We would definitely go again and highly recommend it.

I and my boyfriend stopped by in the morning for booking a table outside for the evening. We specifically said outside. We left our telephone number and name and we showed up on time. A waitress said they had a table inside just prepared for...

Absolutely lovely. Really welcoming to me and my family. And smiled through us being indecisive! Really enjoyed the food. Especially the halloumi and prawns and the kids went wild for the churros. The cocktails! Omg the cocktails!!! I could spend every evening sitting here watching...

Thought we would give this place a try after seeing it walking past, staff are very nice and very accommodating. The food was very very nice but portion sizes vs the price not so good! The bowls are roughly 10cm across. I know its tapas so you order a few dishes but the thing that got me was meatballs £8 or 1 for £2.75 you'd think would be decent sized meatballs but really wasnt they were tiny and was not worth the money. The cocktails where really nice and kind of average price in hastings. If they sort portion sizes or reduce prices to match portion sizes then I would be a regular as tastes so good.
