Not well stocked and very expensive. Paid £2.25 for half loaf of bread. Other products on shelves well above acceptable price. Just a couple of hundred yards away is the local garage with very reasonable fuel prices and an excellent choice of hot and cold snacks from breakfast, throughout the day. So popular and there is a really comfortable covered in facility to eat should weather be inclement. Gem of a find and next door to the Caravan Club site where we were staying. Visitors making full use of this excellently facility.

The folks who have taken over this shop are a breath of fresh air. What a difference! It is early days but they have made a great start. They sell their own home-made bread, fresh eggs and veggies including fresh asparagus. It also has a surprisingly good book store specialising in children’s books, jigsaws and toys. For the adults there is a selection of wine, local beer and whisky from local community owned GlenWyvis Distillery in Dingwall. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

I'm not really sure what's going on with this place but it was a dire experience for us. It wasn't very welcoming with a strong musty smell on entering. The shelves were not well stocked with items spread out (perhaps to make it look less empty). We asked if there was any Tonic water and was directed to a bottom shelf where there was some (an unusual brand/bottle) so we bought it anyway. We had it with gin that evening and it was flat. We checked the label and it was out of date! We won't be going there again.

We often stop here on the way to or from Gairloch and it was great to be back after a year away. The atmosphere is lovely - with an exterior covered area with tables and photos on the wall of the many interesting' vehicles that have passed by. The menu of casual food is excellent and I very much enjoyed my vegetarian sausage roll. The place has a shop and a clean toilet and we would definitely recommend it.

The lady in the shop was lovely but the shop wasn't what we expected a real mish mash of 'stuff' food stock very limited. Local strawberris very tasty.

We just got drenched in a Scottish downpour and was in need of warmth and sustenance. Excellent small cafe with brilliant coffee and cakes. The lunch time toasties also looked great. The owner was very happy to talk about the cars that had visited on the NC500.

We stopped here, originally for fuel, but then realised that we could sit in the tiny café and have some lunch. This quirky café seats around 10 people and has a good selection of food on offer. We had lovely homemade soup which was plentiful and piping hot, served with bread and butter. To access the toilet, you can either head through the small shop which is attached to it, or go outside and around the corner. The toilet was also quite a surprise in that it was clean, fresh and pleasant to visit. I can thoroughly recommend this café if you’re passing through.

Stopped there a year ago. Had taken a trip around the nature reserve and our fuel consumption suddenly went dead. Struggled on to Kinlochewe where they could not have been more helpful. While waiting we had lovely bacon butties in the cafe as well as buying some sweets to keep us going. We will be back!

A real surprise, I stopped at the petrol station to buy a can of coke and realised there was a small café attached. I ended up having a pot of tea plus a bacon and egg bap which was cooked freshly for me despite the late time of day. I ended up driving a long way to return on another day which was well worth it. A great little café.

We stopped off here yesterday to get some petrol and use the services . We were amazed at the lovely clean and well decorated toilet and lots of hot water . We then went into the cafe to buy a coffee to take away . The owners were a lovely pleasant and chatty couple who are only too happy to help . There is also a nice selections of hot drinks and cakes as well as hot rolls to sit in or takeaway .Well worth the stop and would do so on a return visit .

I used this remote shop many times in the past and was horrified to see the decline of it under the present owners, given that the location is remote and caters mainly for walkers and passing trade there was no snacks, sandwiches available , the place has an adjoining room next door selling second hand furniture and the musty pungent smell hits you when you walk in. There Is an extremely limited selection of goods . The owners are very unwelcoming and surly. Some of the hotel gusts and locals also commented on the condition of the shop which in my opinion should be closed down on hygienic reasons

The Typsy Laird Café, set on the site of the Kinlochewe Service Station, is always very welcome sight, particularly in the recent rather grey weather, as good coffee stops are few and far between in this part of the world. I’ve been visiting this café each year for the past seven years while touring Scotland, as it’s very usefully sited on several good touring roads and just about the right distance from Ullapool to make a stop worthwhile. The service is unfailingly friendly, the coffee is great (except that the last time I visited the cappuccino machine was being serviced) and if you’re in the mood for a snack there’s always something to tempt you. As an added benefit you get to fill up with fuel at the same time...

After poor experiences in Oban and Fort William this place restored our faith in a Scottish breakfast and hospitality. Great service, even better breakfast made with quality ingredients.

Très agréable situation entre 2 ballades, service très prévenant. Des plats typiques, abordables. Le top après une journée de tourisme.

We booked for Sunday lunch and it was an absolute delight. It was a set priced menu with 3 courses for just under £25, The choice was great and the food outstanding. We were well looked after and the gardens are lovely too.

Called in here for lunch. Lovely fresh Haddock, light crispy batter & nicely cooked chips - perfect - I'll be back. Cooked to order, so took about 5 minutes - well worth the wait.
