Kinjo - Japanese Restaurant, Bar & Grill in Tandridge

Had the Tonkotsu ramen on the lunch menu, was a nice broth and the appearance was very good. The only complaint the broth wasn't as hot as i would expect, and the noodles were overcooked for me, i prefer a firmer noodle, but this is my preference. Its not a ramen bar so i wouldnt expect it to be perfect.

A few hours after visiting Kinjo two of us experienced symptoms of food poisoning for the whole night - unfortunately, I will never risk again visiting this restaurant!

We love it here. 5th visit and it's just as good as the first. Food is incredible, staff are helpful and friendly and the restaurant is stunning.

This is a restaurant that is much busier than it should be if popularity was driven by cooking quality. Most of the dishes were fine, flavours quite simple and certainly a disparity between price and quality of cooking. Some dishes were a curious mixture of bland yet over salted and dry enough to suggest they had been through the dehydrator. Run by the sort of guy that walks past tables when dessert is served removing drinks menus to encourage table turning. Not a word was said. You'd think an owner would be interested in the guest experience. Not when a place is this busy and clearly delivering the cash. The boozy groups and insta crowd seemed happy though.

Great atmosphere and good food. Service is fantastic and the servers are very attentive. It is on the pricier side but there's a good selection of food and is prepared fresh to order. If you're sat near the bar you can watch the sushi be prepared.

My 2nd visit here, the quality of the sashimi is top level and happy to drive a long way for it, for Tuna fans the Otoro Nigiri is off the charts amazing & had to order a 2nd round.

had dinner at this restaurant last night, and unfortunately, I started feeling unwell in the middle of the night. Since then, I’ve been experiencing nausea and stomach pain. I haven’t eaten anything else that could have caused it, so I strongly suspect it was something I ate there. It’s really disappointing, especially since I was looking forward to the meal. That said, the staff were very nice and friendly, which made the experience more pleasant at the time. I just hope the management pays closer attention to food safety and hygiene.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Kinjo. The food was incredible everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The team were so warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. It’s such a lovely, relaxed place with a great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Our server Ling was an absolute legend. The vegetarian dishes were incredible, Japanese like I’ve never had before. Cocktails out of this world and the sparkling saki is a must! Such a lovely evening out! :)

This restaurant flew under the radar until yesterday and what a discovery it was Ambience set just right Staff attentive and friendly Food was delicious and cooked perfectly The portion sizes were great too All the flavours were distinguishable and lots of umami, as expected We had the chicken katsu and felt spoilt by the generous amount of sauce As a bonus we found they have a 2 course set menu on Sundays that was very reasonably priced Try them, you won’t be disappointed

A warm welcome from the whole team. We opted to sit at the bar which is a great place to see the food being prepped and the amazing skills from the team to make/cook/present the food. Foord was amazing, service and staff were exceptional. We ate from the chefs special menu, lobster was wonderful - and even opted for the puddings which were really good!

Amazing food and great value for money

First time visiting, and everything was really delicious. Only downside was how tiny the portions were. But the food was really high quality, we were served by Nicole and she was lovely. Will be returning soon :)

This was the 4th time we've been eating here, and it did not disappoint. The food, as always, was exceptionally good. The staff were attentive and engaging on what was a busy evening. I can't recommend Kinjo enough if you are looking for a great Japanese meal and a great night out. Just been back again and still it is top notch.

Absolutely amazing experience - food was exceptional! Drinks were amazing - the wonderful hostesses ensured I had the correct wine of my choice (even made me taste multiple - more than 4+ so I got it right)! I will definitely be coming here again! They are extremely wonderful and kind people!

I am Japanese myself and the food was as good, in some ways better than Japan. ( Samon sashimi ) We had an amazing experience. Lovely staff, and fantastic food. We will come back very soon!

Tried this restaurant for the first time and had the best experience. We both had a spicy salmon maki roll as well as the Sunday set menu and the food was incredible and very authentic, best tonkotsu ramen I've had in my life! The service and atmosphere were also fantastic and I can see us returning very soon to this special restaurant. It's made us very excited for our trip to Japan later this year!

Honestly some of the best Japanese food I've ever eaten. Incredibly well cooked, seasoned, presented and excellent value.

First time here thjs evening and was not disappointed! What a hidden little gem!!Food was delicious ( every dish!) was served quickly, and the staff were polite and attentive. Loved the ramen and the open kitchen concept. The menu was varied I wanted to try it all!! The staff were lovely towards our toddler too and very understanding. Our 1st visit to this establishment in Oxted on 29/12/2024 & what a delight it was. We were seated in upper seating area overlooking the restaurant & it soon filled up. We decided to choose from the Sunday menu on our 1st venture into Japanese cuisine. My wife started with KaisenTempura, mixed fish & vegetables, & I with Chicken Karaage, fried chicken, both with delicious chilli miso sauce. I then had Donburi Chasu Don, Pork Belly with steamed white rice, spring onions, white sesame seeds, pickled ginger & separate miso soup. My wife had Ramen Kubota Shoyu, grilled chicken thighs with seaweed, spring onions, soya based broth & fine noodles. Both our starter & main were lovely & full of flavour. Along with the Red Grenache my wife had & Kirin Beer added to an absolutely lovely meal. We will certainly be returning soon.

Kinjo is a fabulous restaurant. Great food, great value. Love the atmosphere and attentive service. Our go-to for Japanese, rivalling excellent places in London without the London prices.

Fantastic place, going again soon

One of the best meals and atmospheres I’ve experienced this year - well worth a visit if you’re in the area. A bit expensive, but worth every single penny.

We came here for my birthday lunch and were blown away by the quality of food, friendly staff, price and overall feel of the place. We did the lunch deal and we were so impressed with how much you got for the price. Our server was so lovely and attentive, and made me feel really special on my birthday. It has the feel of much more expensive Japanese restaurants in London and is a real asset to Oxted. Cannot recommend this place more and we're already planning when we'll be coming back!

Not sure about this place. Lots of "hidden" rice here. The usually Sushi, wrapped in rice, a main course that looked like a large bowl of food was some meat, lots of greens and 50% rice. One drink each and a few side dishes and it cost almost £40 each! Rice must be expensive these days - or the large number of staff needed to be paid - I thought I counted 10. Not my favourite place!

The waiters are so friendly and smiley. Loved our visit will definetly be going back

Elegant and stylish setting, we had a comfortable and well positioned table with plenty of space. Beautiful attention to detail and a very warm welcome from the team. Smiling and charming service. Food was absolutely delicious: soft shell crab, sushi, grilled meats all a highlight. I loved the wide choice of sake by the glass: get stuck in an experiment. I had 3 and they were all tasty and matched with the food perfectly. Good coffee and my husband loved his wee ice cream cone to finish. Excellent: I only wish this was in our neighbourhood. Lucky Oxted.

Had a lovely dinner at Kinjo tonight - the staff had great recommendations (especially when it came to cocktails) and we especially enjoyed the California and spicy salmon rolls. Will definitely be coming here again!

Food is very generously priced especially for a place like this. Incredible service, almost immediate! Received free drinks on the house. Took no longer than 5 minutes to get anything I ordered. Came here for brothers birthday, all of the staff were very friendly and kind. EXTREMELY CLEAN, even the bathroom. Could not find a spec of dirt. Thank you to everyone who served us today 👏. Decoration is nice and warm, music is never too loud or quiet and nice tunes, temperature was never too cold or warm.

Just had my lunch at Kiinjo Oxted. I had teriyaki chicken and rice plus prawns tempura. I was hungry but stopped eating chicken & rice half way, felt that something not quite right although I don't know what. I vomited less than 30 mins later. My son had another half but he was ok. My 4 year old granddaughter she enjoyed her fried chicken bento very much too. I guess I'm disappointed because it was my birthday lunch 😅

Can't fault our experience at all. The Sake No Hana connection is evident in the quality of food and service. Please consider opening a Kent branch!

Absolute gem, food was amazing, staff amazing. Quick service. Child friendly, can't wait to go back. All sushi was fresh and tasty, tempura moreish, don buri amazing our 6 year old ate it and she can be picky! Chicken teriyaki also great.

High quality, authentic Japanese food

Luckily we had booked as on arrival most of the tables were already taken. Not surprisingly as the food was delicious and how often can you have a lunch with such great quality for £16.50 a head including service, a glass of wine, sake or beer and a choice of main course? My mother who is in a wheelchair was greeted warmly and we were soon seated by the friendly manager. The sushi bowls were outstanding, freshly prepared by one of the seven sushi chefs on show behind the spotless counter. With the accompanying tasty miso soup we both agreed it was plenty of food for even a very large appetite. The wine served was very good too. Our waitress was excellent. The atmosphere was buzzy in a good way, with the customers clearly enjoying themselves. What a wonderful place to have on our doorstep in Oxted. No wonder it was full.

Had heard from many this place has great food and we were not disappointed. From the outside the view of the place is amazing. And once you walk in all the staff are friendly. For starters we ordered Veg Tempura / Pop Corn Shrimp / Sojin Maki Rolls / Salmon & Avocado / Kinjo Maki Rolls. For dinner Chicken Teryaki Donburi to share and for dessert we had the delicious Salted Caramel ice cream with biscuit crumble! ALL we ordered was yummy and would love to go back to try their other dishes. We love spicy food so their chili oil is a great addition to the side sauces. Definitely recommend all to go here.

Absolutely delicious experience! Had to drive a bit longer from our place though with traffic, not ideal. Wish we could order home! Highly recommend to try tuna carpaccio, just melts as soon as touches your tongue 🥳 Please sort out your take away! In my area Deliveroo seems to be most convenient and speedy.

Fantastic restaurant we stumbled upon when looking for something to eat. One of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve been to.

There simply is no room to improve the quality of the food (quality, taste). And given that the value of the lunch menu is *phenomenal*, (when you compare with the limp, bulk sourced, mean portioned junk you get for the very little less at some 'gastro' pub)

Outstanding food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. The staff was very attentive and provided excellent service, especially our server, Liv. The food was absolutely delicious and worth every penny. If you are ever in the area and fancy some authentic Japanese food, I would definitely recommend Kinjo. Looking forward to the next visit!

Food is amazing at this place! Celebrated a birthday. Nice layout upstairs. The food is such good quality, all of the meat and fish is so tender and tasty! Was even thinking about it the next day 😂 The kids also really enjoyed the bento boxes. Staff were brilliant, really attentive, welcoming, and they all came to sing happy birthday when they brought in the cake!

Really impressed with our visit today. The food was delicious and the flavours were outstanding (the salmon carpaccio in particular). The espresso martini was made to perfection and the staff very helpful with their recommendations on the menu. We were all really pleased with our choices today. We had our 3.5 year old little boy with us and the staff were super friendly with him. We will definitely be returning. The volume and the playlist was great too.

Visited for dinner following recommendation from a friend, and so glad we did! All the food was delicious, especially the California tree rolls. Our server (I think his name was Zach!) talked us through the menu and recommended dishes and how many to get. The service was fab, very attentive and enough time in between courses. The restaurant is lovely inside as well. Unfortunately we aren't local but would definitely return if we are in the area again! 😊

Loved it, first time there tonight. The atmosphere is perfect, not too lively but not too quiet. The interior is beautiful and different. The staff are so friendly, from the owner, to the kitchen staff and young staff members. Great quality of food and options. I’m vegetarian and there were options for me and not half effort options, real options. So tasty, definitely going again.

The best meal I’ve had ever. Me and my partner love sushi and Japanese food, and this place was the best place I’ve ever been. The place is beautiful and clean, the food was fresh and the cocktails were insane. The atmosphere was also amazing even at 6pm. Our waitress, shay, elevated our meal. She was amazing, warm and some of the best service I’ve ever had. Will be returning again and again. Highly recommend.

Sadly I couldn't leave a ten star review as the food, service and atmosphere is exceptional. My wife and I had a chicken teriyaki donburi and it's the best we've ever had. Highly recommended.

A brilliant little place in Oxted! Charming staff who pulled out all the stops to make us feel welcome despite us having a dog and not being able to go into the restaurant, they arranged a table for us outside and served us some delicious food. Lovely staff and affordably priced - will definitely be returning!

We had family lunch during half term and I had been waiting to try this restaurant after hearing so many good reviews. Lunch time was set menu plus sushi only. We had Tonkotsu (pork) ramen, chashu donburi and chicken teriyaki donburi. The food was delicious and the ramen was very authentic, I think it had bonita fish flake or stock in. The set menu came with a drink each so we actually spent less than we usually do in Wagamama and we got higher quality food as well! We were very impressed. The restaurant was very busy and we didn’t book but they accommodated us straight away and we got a booth table. We would need to go back for dinner to try dishes from the rest of the menu!

Always incredible food and service at Kinjo! The server had a spill over my partner and they went out of their way to clean up, offer dry cleaning and got drinks for us. The standard of service is far beyond any other spot locally and we always enjoy ourselves here! Thank you!

Had a wonderful early evening meal in Kinjo midweek and also visited subsequently on a buzzy Friday evening. The waiting staff were so friendly and very knowledgeable in terms of what on the menu could be made gluten free, even bringing GF soy sauce to the table for my rice. There are surprisingly good options - Japanese cuisine is usually avoided by me in view of how GF heavy it is. The teriyaki chicken bowl was tasty but I do think something..maybe the teriyaki sauce was not gluten free as I had some reaction in my joints so the 2nd time I went I ordered sashimi, the black cod and broccoli. All dishes were absolutely delicious and I already want to return to eat those again. My family all had the donburi bowls and with the addition of gluten they looked really good and got thumbs up. Another star dish was my son's octopus. The service was excellent, prices were very reasonable given the quality of the food and how good the service is. We will 100% be back.
