Had lunch today with my husband and son and the food was superb and not run of the mill. I had kippers on ciabiatta with poached egg which was amazing. Main was sea bass in butter with capers, hasselback potatoes, spiced beetroot absolutely delicious. Great service from Teresa and absolute gem venue for five star food.

An old unmaintained golf club in a beautiful spot above the town, great staff, very friendly and welcoming. The place needs a damn good clean in all areas, from the toilets to the lounge, plus some general maintenance and painting! We tried the food but were disappointed, previous reviews are much too generous in their reviews and scoring. We didn’t experience anything excellent or very good. Fatty and untrimmed steak in the steak pie, unpleasant. Haggis bon-bons were tasty but dry and the accompanying salsa was bizarrely over sweet. All bought in I guess. Good for drinks after golf but the food should be avoided. 3/10.

The catering here has changed numerous times over the years but has often been excellent. The current chef is good and it’s decent, home made pub food. However quite sporadic and not always serving (which I understand) so hard to rely on. The staff are always excellent.

Four of us played after a long run of Scottish June rain and we were all impressed by the condition of the course, the trueness of the greens and uniform (stone free) bunkers. Friendly locals sang the praises of Craig, the head green keeper and we certainly appreciated his hard work and that of his team. Lunch after was similarly delightful - Michael was a great young chef and the food was definitely one step up from the normal clubhouse fare. We would have preferred plates rather than boards / slates but that is a minor complaint. Overall, a wonderful experience and we look forward to returning.

Have been to this restaurant which is now called the Black Grouse Restaurant twice in the last week. We tried the fish and chips, the Steak and Cairngorm Ale Pie, the scampi and the burgers. All tasted wonderful and were beautifully presented. The hand cut triple cooked chips are amazing! The service is very professional and attentive. It was a pleasure to meet the chef Michael and we wish him the very best for the season. The menu has plenty of choice and the food is cooked from scratch on the premises using quality ingredients.

Ate at the golf club last week, my meal of thai chicken was perfectly acceptable. My friend had a smoked salmon salad which was also fine. Our friends both had steak, which they found very chewy and not very palatable. It should have been served with onion rings and chips and my friends were not impressed to receive it with salad. Pudding of toffee meringue was really just a toffee sundae and rather sickly. The sticky toffee pudding was reasonable though the custard was thin on the plate. The food was ok but I wouldn't rush back, which is a shame because the golf course looked stunning!

On recommendation we booked Saturday night for a party of ten at 7pm, for an evening meal, we were informed that the Golf club had a Special Meeting at 8pm. but we were welcome if we didn't mind. A number of other diners where present and eating on arrival. Well the meal was excellent, a good menu with excellent 'Specials' on offer. Everyone in our party had an excellent meal, all commented on the amount of the portions and the presentation of the food. The service was excellent even though during the meal the Club filled with members for the Meeting! The only inconvenience was that the Bar closed! The purpose of the meeting was to decide whether to buy the Golf Club(and Caravan site) from the Local Estate. Motion carried and I don't blame them!A beautiful setting and an excellent eating place - not restricted to just the Golfers! and very good value.

What a great find this place was.We had never eaten in a golf clubhouse before, but had heard good things about it.The venue is superb just a ten minute wander up a hill thru the woods past the best looking hospital we've ever seen and your there. If you have a problem with mobility you could always get a taxi. When you reach the clubhouse there is peace and quiet no traffic noise and the building is so charming looking.Once inside I'm sure it's just like any other golf club, but the service and food are great. The food we had was top notch and we've eaten in some nice places. This beat all expectations, and for the price what a bargain. The staff were friendly and polite lovely young girls served us and it was so nice to get a nice smile not forced by managers of larger restaurants. Yeh ok not a large selection of wine so what white or red that's all you need anyway. We opted for the white and very nice it was served chilled in an ice bucket. After the meal we took our wine and sat outside and it was heaven the sun was just going down and it was still very warm.It wasn't a problem either to sit outside and they served us more drinks at our table. Look forward to our next visit to Kingussie and the clubhouse. One thing worth mentioning they do not serve food Mondays and Tuesdays or we would have gone back on Monday night.

I wouldn't usually seek out a golf club as a place to eat, but Kingussie Golf Club really is something totally different from the run of the mill 19th hole. Chef Michelle Edwards trained at the renowned Applecross Inn and with family links on the west coast can regularly source truly fantastic seafood. On her seafood weekends she transforms the raw ingredients (which were pretty damn good to begin with) into something spectacular. At one recent visit only one of our party chose the mussels (most opting for the very generous helpings of langoustine) but they were soon inundated by their neighbours using the granary bread provided on the table to dip into the accompanying sauce, which was something truly special. I can't recommend it highly enough!.

My wife and I recently visited Kingussie Golf Club for lunch and were bowled over by the standard and quality of the food. On arrival the menu and specials boards looked enticing and offered far more than standard golf club fare. There was a choice of three homemade soups and we chose the pea and mint which turned out to be both hearty and delicious. In addition to the regular menu there was a battered monk fish special on that day. We couldn't resist and decided to get one between us. The dish consisted of six large pieces of fresh monk fish in nice light, crispy batter accompanied with a delicious tartar sauce, homemade fries and a well dressed salad. It was excellent food and far beyond what one might expect from a golf club. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and were lucky enough to be able to sit outside as it was a fine day. It's safe to say that this will be top of our list of places to visit the next time we're in Kingussie.

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!
