Great, wee pub friendly service but didn't eat, so I can't comment on food 😕

The sandwiches at the pub quiz are great as that's the food the service. Service and atmosphere. The staff are friendly and professional. It's a friendly pub and everyone is welcome. I highly recommend the quiz on a Thursday 50pp entry but that includes sandwiches or recently fantastic pizzas and a chance of winning at least £50. Adam's questions can however be a bit questionable but the forfeit round makes it a lot more interesting. We have however managed to win on 3 occasions in the last year.

Great for sitting outside on a good day. Lots of screens for watching sports.

Just wanted to say how much my family enjoyed our afternoon meeting up at The Kingsknowe. We used the function room which is really nice and gave our kids lots of room to get about. Prices were great - a lovely rose was £14. The stag were welcoming and very attentive. Thanks again

Disappointed in what I saw and experienced. Considering it was very quiet the toilets were dirty, very old dry blood on the walls, the smell from the sanitary bin was ripe like it hadn't been emptied for a while. Doors in the stall were in need of a repair. The toilet paper was not in dispensers. The hand dryer was broken. The bin for hand towels was overflowing. Fruit flies attracted to the old blood in the bins. The main door into the toilets were wide open, the only privacy in the female toilets are the cubicles. Clearly a lot of money has been spent on the decor and the booths, however the stairs in the main bar are a health and safety hazard. The middle stair has no metal part to stop the laminate flooring from separating, which it is doing. There is no hand rail there to hold onto, so if someone did get their heel caught in the broken part; they're going to give themselves an injury. The place is fine if you're a regular. I stood at the bar waiting for 15 minutes to get served (3 serving behind the main bar), the bar staff didn't come over to serve me, but when 3 regulars went to the bar after I had been standing there; were served immediately. It wasn't busy at all so a 15 minute wait seemed rather extreme. When the MOS came through from the party in the other bar, he immediately started cleaning what the other 3 had not been doing, collected everyone's glasses not just the ones below the steps. He also made eye contact as soon as you went to the bar and ensured I was served in less that 5 minutes. All in all not what I remembered the Kingsknowe to be, used to be a friendly wee place where everyone was made to feel welcome. I'd be very reluctant to return die to the experience I had on Friday evening

It was okay, I cam see the money that has been spent on the booths and decor. I think a handrail is needed at the steps in the main bar, especially as there is a broken bit on the steps. 2 of the staff were really nice that were on shift. It's definitely more of a place for the regular attendees though as they were served way before me considering I was waiting longer at the bat than them. I suppose that is what happens with these types of places 🤣

Refurbished, looks really nice inside and out with plenty seating. Staff inviting and friendly. Really busy when sun is shining, good atmosphere and the bottled cider went down a treat. Definitely be back as it's a great stop off along canal for a quick refreshment.

Great atmosphere as always, had a moving mountains burger, soooooo good. Best non meat burger I've ever tasted. Love this place, even though the bar staff kept pushing more drinks on us, swear, it was all their fault. LOL.

Great pub. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Table service due to Cov 19 but very good. Also one 1-1 out for the toilet.

Fantastic food, drinks reasonably priced. A big old (1930s?) barn of a place, but a brilliant attitude from the owners and staff in providing a good pub for the community. Deserves to succeed. UPDATE..... First post-lock down visit on the night they reopened, if I could give 6 or 10 stars I would, staff were welcoming and cheerful despite the adverse circumstances, if you live in the area please give this pub your custom, it's a gem and an asset to all.

When here for family meeting we had food and it was 5 stars there were 3 of us and we all had something differnet from the meue we had haggis which was the best i have had for many years my wife had the steak pie home made my son had the mexican burger all were absolute delicious in top of that all the bar staff were on the ball they were really nice and friendly great service i am a traveler and next time i am in the area will def be back well done the kingsnowe team

Basic but good food, staff very friendly and nice but not on the ball as far as service goes. Had a function in their function room and that was very well catered to, nibbles were very good and served hot.

Very bad customer service, from the young woman and young man. severely disappointed! Will not be dining here. Unprofessional , definitely not fit to be working with public.

Decent place. Has been renovated since I was last there. However the function room could do with some windows.

Gave this place a try as local-ish & heard it had a facelift. Décor nice, that's where the positives end. Asked for 3 different draught drinks and they were all "off". Mixed starter was super greasy and soggy, items missing from it. Decided to give it another go and were told they had a table for 20 in 40 mins time & wouldn't serve us for an hour. Won't be back

It was ok for an afternoon apperative

We booked The New Kingsknowe, function hall to host a 60th birthday party. The girls that took the booking were very informative, helpful and friendly, The food was delicious, bar staff were fantastic (big thanks to Aidan) and not forgetting the DJ, the DJ was amazing, played our requests, kept us dancing, helped remind me of things (I forgot about the cake). He interacted with us and really seemed to enjoy himself which was fantastic to see. Huge thanks to all the staff at The New Kingsknowe, everyone had a great time.

We recently attended a birthday party and were looking forward to a good time especially after hearing that the function room was recently renovated. However there was a number of things that left us disappointed and let down. There was only 1 ladies toilet available and that didn't flush property also kitchen roll was used to dry your hands no hand dryers where available. The staff although helpful where inexperience. Draft beer had to be poured in the bar and brought through to the function room even though taps where available. So overall not a good experience and we will definitely advise anyone thinking of hiring this venue not to bother😟

Had a lovely evening with family. Lee looked after us well even though he seemed to be doing the bar and the food. He was kept busy but had time to chat to the kids and made them feel important. Our food was really nice and the atmosphere was warm and friendly.

Recent refurbishment has the place looking good. We've gone up a few times for dinner now and the food and drinks have been great. Last night was their Friday night steak deal. £22.95 for 2 Steak Dinners and a bottle of wine. Steak was cooked to perfection with whisky sauce, chips, fresh onion rings, tomatoes and peas. Delish & full to the brim! Different offers on during the week so will definitely check them out. Staff are very friendly and attentive and it's a very comfortable place to sit. Good selection of drinks on offer including flavoured Gins & some different lagers on tap. They had karaoke on later at night and have some live music events on. Locally, it's filling a gap in the market for a family friendly, local that's served food and it's doing it well. Worth a visit!

Meal was ok but very greasy. Rose wine was very nice. Good range of gins but no low calorie tonic. Decor lovely and very comfortable. Bar service good and very friendly.

This friendly local bar and restaurant was given a makeover in the summer of 2018. It’s now very appealing to a wider audience with a great selection of drinks and the food menu was s excellent. Lots of room at the bar and plenty choice of seating. The staff are excellent and welcoming and a credit to the place. There is also a well positioned function suite with its own bar and ideal for functions of around 100 people Highly recommended

Me & my family are regular visitors here. Often coming in for lunch, drinks & to watch the football. Food is always spot on, Sunday lunch is a must. They have family area which provide games & colouring in bits for the kids. Good selection of drinks for the adults, staff are friendly & make you feel welcome.

Visited here on numerous occasions now, every time the food and service has been exceptional. Very family friendly and attentive staff.Nothing is to much hassle.The food really is great value, massive portions!

Lovely food & nice friendly staff.

Seven of us had a very tasty lunch on Sunday in a nice and cosy lounge bar. Our meals were served quickly and the quality was good - everyone enjoyed it. Excellent value for money.

I really wanna give this a 4/5 out of 5 because it has so much potential. I ALWAYS have a good time when I'm here tho so the 2 stars doesn't really properly reflect. The Kings know is a great all round pub and the bar staff are friendly and if you go there they make you very welcome they even say good night save tripe home so I think it is a great pub to visit and good to watch the foot ball love the Kings know
