Había reservado una fiesta para 11 personas para mi cena de graduación.Habiendo hecho esto con un mes de anticipación, por teléfono, fuimos el día anterior para verificar que la reserva estaba bien: allí hablamos con un miembro del personal que nos dijo que todo estaba confirmado para el día siguiente.En el día, entramos solo para descubrir que el restaurante estaba cerrado. No ofrecieron poner una mesa a pesar de que la reserva estaba allí y de que la cocina estaba abierta. En cambio, nos dieron la opción de sentarnos en el bar de cócteles de abajo. Por supuesto, simplemente salimos y fuimos a un verdadero restaurante.Increíble decepción.

Vinimos aquí después de un recorrido por el castillo de Edimburgo. Fue un agradable respiro después de aplastar a los turistas en el castillo. Tuve el pescado blanco (halibut, creo) con espárragos picantes y papas gratinadas. Una presentación muy sabrosa (e interesante). I booked an afternoon tea at this hotel but did not even get seated before a member of staff spoke to me in an unnecessary manner. Told me there was no record of the booking before proclaiming “you can see how busy we are, we cannot accommodate you” before gesturing to a half empty dining room. I went downstairs to complain but was made aware that speaking to Jose was as good as speaking to the restaurant management so we up and left. Gave our money to some of the other lovely businesses in the area.

On Saturday night past, with two of our bon viveur pals, we chanced upon The Cucina and decided to pop in for a wee cocktail before returning to our hotel for the night. The place was not busy, more loud, and a trifle rowdy, so we lingered not a long while there. Service was not swift and the drinks seemed a bit sad when they did arrive. The decor there is gaudy. The staff's tired faces were a tad surly. No accompanying nibbles or the like were offered or produced, despite the fairly, even for Auld Reekie, extortionate bill produced, which we paid, agreeing unanimously that any return to this particular pleasure house might have to be in some far future time, if at all. I read the Trip Advisor reports on this place today and found some concurrent consolations there.

We booked a table for dinner at Cucina online. Big mistake! When we arrived we were told it is only open for lunch. It was a Saturday evening so finding a table anywhere else was very difficult. Cucina is in a hotel. It doesn’t have its own website so getting complete and reliable information is pretty well impossible.

We visited this hotel for a cocktail because it was recommended to us by friends. It also helps that I'm a Radisson Rewards Platinum member so I get a discount on food and drink.We arrived and were directed to sit at an empty table for table service in the bar area. The bar wasn't busy. Other than us the was only 1 other table waiting (other tables already had drinks) and only 1 person at the bar, who had arrived and after us. It took several minutes for a waiter to come over and take our order, even though we trying hard to get someone's attention. They arrived took our order and disappeared. Our drinks arrived over 25 minutes after ordering. We watched the bar tender repeatedly walk back and forth between the bar and a back during this time, looking fairly clueless. By the time the drinks arrived a lot of the ice had melted and condensation was dripping off the glasses onto the table. They didn't give or offer us a napkin to rest the drinks on, to soak this up. Because it took so long for the drinks to arrive and we were now becoming short of time before our restaurant reservation, we requested the bill. The waiter acknowledged the request, returned to the bar and proceeded to make someone else's order. It was at this point I went to complain to management for the tardy service. By the time I'd returned to the table after complaining, which took around 5-10 minutes, the bill had finally arrived. But even though I'd told the bar staff I was a Platinum member and should get a discount, there was no discount applied. I took the bill to the bar and asked them to apply my discount. He told me the discount doesn't apply to alcoholic drinks and I disagreed. He went to ask his manager. 5 minutes later he returned admitting he was wrong and applied the discount. All in all, the service was dreadful - slow, incompetent, inexperienced, unapologetic and unaware of rules of Radisson Rewards membership. What should have been a pleasant quick drink which shouldn't have only taken 10-20 minutes, took the best part of 50 minutes, a complaint and an argument over my members discount. Very, very disappointing.

Popped in for a cocktail before dinner on my partners birthday. The cocktails I ordered consisted of some measures being thrown in a glass and stirred for a bit. Not a shaker or a cube of ice in sight. When I challenged this I got a blank look and the then other bar man done the exact same thing. This clearly comes from management. Save yourself the time and money and go to one of the many bars nearby that take a bit of pride in the drinks they serve.

This restaurant is in our hotel on the mile.The food was delicious.A little pricey but we had walked 6.5 miles and 11,000 steps that day and we were so tired we couldn't go any further nice menu,great service good hot food.Can't beat it

El sándwich era bueno, pero cuando reservas para un almuerzo en un italiano esperas una pizza o pasta al menos con algunos entrantes. . . . . Si bien el personal era muy educado y servicial, no había suficiente y, considerando que era un almuerzo, el menú era más como un tipo de aperitivos en el bar, si el restaurante no abre durante el día, dígalo. Decir que fue decepcionante es un eufemismo y si no tuviera un 25% de descuento en toda la factura, habría sido realmente infeliz.El personal fue excelente, pero no te preocupes, si no tienes suficientes clientes para abrir durante el día, no lo hagas. Visited as a family of 9 - pre booked. The waitress / manager who took our order had no idea of the menu or the offer on their website advertising brunch for £35pp and said it was not on, it was served only on the last Sunday of the month. The website continues to clearly show this deal is valid Saturday and Sunday each weekend. We ordered form the main menu and everything was poor from start to finish. The manager taking our order clearly wasn’t familiar with the menu. Items chosen and so the waiting began - so much so the staff dropped bread off at all tables - surely toast would be more appropriate given brunch / breakfast time?!Only 4 tables in the place (all well staggered) and we finally got our food an hour after the table was booked for. Missing drinks, missing items off plates such as eggs on two, sausages on two, toast for the Scottie breakfast had to be asked for and drinks had to be chased. Very poor all round... clearly explains the empty restaurant at 1:30 on a Sunday. Wouldn’t recommend, too many better places to waste your time here.

My wife and I had dinner there one night as we were hoping to have some great Italian inspired food. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, which is a big concern since it was Saturday evening. The pub downstairs,however, was packed... My wife ordered the scallops as a starter and I had the haggis bonbons. The starters were really nice and full of flavour and we were very much looking forward to the main courses. However, these were a bit of a let down. I ordered the cod dish with lentils and was hoping for a nicely cooked big chunk of fish (the dish was £19 so I had every reason to expect much!). Unfortunately, I only got a tiny piece of fish (roughly 1.5 by 5cm), which was way over cooked and dry. The dish was also lukewarm. The skin was like rubber. Why serve it with the skin then? It reminded me of reheated frozen fish. It did not taste fresh. The lentils were a bit under but I did not mind it that much as it gave a bit of texture to the otherwise soft food. But the size of the dish was also way too small for a main! My wife had the pigeon and this was a tasty dish. However, again the size of the portion was too small for the price. The pigeon breast was cooked well, nice and pink on the inside. However, the legs were very over cooked and, as a result, quite tough. Suffice it to say, we weren’t blown away by the food in the end, which is a shame. We left the restaurant still quite hungry. I would like to finish with a positive note: The service was very good. The waitress was attentive and served with a smile. The atmosphere in the restaurant was OK. A bit too dark for my taste but the decor is beautiful. Would I go back? Only if they can sort out these issues with the food. Considering the competition out there, if they continue like this they probably will not last very long. For the money I spent in Cucina, I could have had a huge steak with sides and a bottle of wine in the Chop House in Leith!

Party of 3 were here. We had a booking. They put us in the isolated spot. I waved the menu, and even went to approach the staff after 20 minutes waiting. Nobody wanted to take my order. Nobody was rude they just ignored us. This place is bad please avoid.

Not sure where to start here!! Went for lunch to celebrate my husbands birthday. Waited around 10 minutes to be seated even although the restaurant was very quiet and we had pre-booked. Only 2 of the 3 starters on the set menu were available needless to say it was the one we planned to have that was unavailable. Surely an alleged 5-star hotel chef could produce more or change the menu?? Seems simple to me. The waiter realised we weren’t happy and offered a substitute from a la Carte menu. My husband chose the venison, when it arrived there was something frozen on the plate apparently it was supposed to be mushroom sorbet but it was frozen solid so inedible. When the mains arrived I had ordered mushroom risotto but was served the salmon. I realise this was a genuine mistake but still very disappointing. I agreed to take the salmon as we had waited a long time for it. The mains were also not particularly warm but we could complain no more. The drinks took a long time to arrive too and the room was cold. My husband was offered a complimentary dessert as an apology. Meanwhile during the meal there were various items banging and crashing behind the scenes. It was like a scene from Fawlty Towers. Genuinely would avoid wasting your hard earned cash in this awful restaurant.

I went here with a group of 12 for afternoon tea for my sisters birthday. We allowed ourself 2hours15mins to eat before we had Taxi’s booked to get us to the rugby. When we arrived the ambiance is lovely and the staff were friendly. However 1hr later and after asking already, we still didn’t have even a drink, never mind any food. I appreciate it is made fresh but normally for afternoon tea they have it basically ready, as the scones weren’t even hot so it’s not like anything needed heated up! It then sadly took another 45 minutes to get us all cocktails and in the end we had to leave for our taxi’s before 5 people had even received them.

We dined at Cucina on a Friday evening for a friend's birthday using a Bookatable promotion. The experience left us a little bemused! The welcome was warm but the service soon dipped. The waitress who was going to take our coats didn't, and we waited 20 minutes before our orders were taken. When we mentioned the promotion I was asked to forward the email as evidence. Having not used Booktable before I wondered if this was similar to Itison, which requires a confirmation number, but my friend assured me it wasn't. The result was feeling like second class customers; which isn't wise when you'd expect a venue to cater to locals as well as tourists. When we asked for the menu mentioned in the promotion the waitress seemed a little put out. The food, when it arrived was pleasant. Unfortunately they forgot the cutlery. We were later apologised to for the 'misunderstanding' ... what that could be, and what explained the waiting times, is still a mystery. Overall, nice food, odd service, and an attractive centrally located venue.

My mom and I spent two weeks traveling all of the UK and Ireland, and our first night in Edinburgh we had no dinner reservations and happened upon this place while searching around the Royal Mile. What a find! It remained our favorite dinner experience from our entire trip. We each ordered different pasta, both were absolutely delicious. I did not expect to find some of the best Italian food I have ever had in Scotland, but it was divine. The highlight of the experience, though, had to be the service. Daniel was AMAZING! He found us a table, made sure we were constantly attended to, and gave us wonderful tips from what to do in town, to what to watch on Netflix. We will certainly make it back on day!

This pleasant restaurant is located within the Marriott Hotel in Edinburgh and offers a nice ambience and décor with very good service. The usual Italian menu culprits are available and we found our dishes to be quite good. The wine list is reasonable. Prices are to be expected in a fine restaurant in this expensive but wonderful city. A good place to have a restful break from sightseeing especially during Festival time.

Entered the alley to the restaurant because the menu looked good. But when we reached the restaurant, looked liked it was closed (lighting is very dark) and no one was in the restaurant. We opened the door as asked if it was opened and were seated. No one else was in the restaurant so that was a bit weird and given that, we were concerned about the quality of the food. We did not need to be as the food, lamb and hake were both excellent. But the restaurant is completely lacking in ambience and there was a 20% Vat tax added to the menu which we did not see elsewhere in Edinburg so that was interesting and expensive.

I visited restaurant Cucina yesterday with a friend using an ITISON voucher for lunch. It was all last minute, an absolutely awful dreich day, so we were very happy with the warm welcome we were met with by Simon. Vito took care of us during our lunch which was absolutely delicious. I cannot recommend this place enough, every member of staff met us with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. This was one venue that genuinely met its 5 stars and I can't wait to return!

Recomendamos los pimientos rellenos, ¡deliciosos! Las recargas constantes de Prosecco mantuvieron las cosas bien hasta que llegó nuestro plato principal, costilla de ternera para mi esposa, merluza para mí, ambas excelentes. Más Prosecco! Sticky pudding toffees para mi esposa y gofres para mí, con más Prosecco. ¡Té o café para terminar, y a mi esposa se le presentó un bonito mensaje de cumpleaños en una pizarra, con dulce de azúcar y pastillas! Visitamos el 18 / 08, una mesa de 16 para mi día de soltera. Me puedo quejar de nada, el personal, especialmente Michal, eran increíbles, muy eficiente y servicial. La comida era genial, todo el mundo estuvo de acuerdo, y había una buena variedad para elegir. Las bebidas eran de buena calidad y fueron. Los baños aquí merecen una mención también, ya que están diseñados fabulosamente y limpias a un alto nivel. La decoración del restaurante también era encantador y cómodos asientos. ¡Guau! ! ! Lo pasamos una tarde fabulosa el domingo en un entorno encantador, comer buena comida y recibiendo excelente servicio de Daniel. A lovely restaurant with lovely decoration - maybe slightly dark in places but we had a spotlight over the table, so all well. The toilet decoration is magnificent- you can virtually play ‘Twister’ on the tiles! The service is quite slow, as it took 20 minutes between us arriving and getting water and a menu. The food is really lovely, but portions are small. The two men in our party were eyeing up the fish and chip shop on the way home! The staff were attentive and were clearly pushed for time as there was a large party in.

My husband and two adult children visited Cucina twice when visiting the Edinburgh Fringe. The interior is bright, modern and very tastefully decorated. We found the customer service to be absolutely wonderful. The staff went out if their way to ensure that we were well taken care of and were very knowledgable about the food and wine we were being offered. We all enjoyed our food, the crab linguine was the best I have ever tried. We had a vegan in our party and the chef adapted one of the dishes for him and he was very impressed with his pasta dish. We all had desserts that were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. This is a great place to stop for a break from the madness of the royal mile and the Fringe.

This is an OK hotel restaurant, no more. I've no idea why Michelin picked it for their bib. We found the menu uninteresting and hard to pick from and the food that emerged was ordinary; well presented perhaps but no evidence of a good kitchen. Front of house was friendly but shambolic, and of course inevitably that affects one's enjoyment.

Comimos aquí en una oferta para un almuerzo de 2 itison campo. Mi marido optamos por el entrante y plato principal y yo tuvimos una principal y budines. Nos llenó con pan fresco y un aceite y vinagre chapuzón mientras miramos el menú. Había 4 entradas, 4 platos principales y 4 opciones de budín tomada desde el principal (muy caro). Tuve la merluza seguido por la exótica gran ensalada de frutas con sorbete de plátano y fruta de la pasión, mientras que mi marido tenía la bresaola con apionabo seguido de panceta de cerdo con salsa de whisky. Nos cuidaron de nuestro servidor que era Ssyman agradable y atento. La mayoría del tiempo éramos los únicos comensales que era un poco desagradable pero por lo demás nos encantó. El viernes por la noche había huéspedes en 5 mesas (máx. 20% de cobertura y un claro toque! ! ) Tuvimos que esperar 5 minutos para estar sentado, no hay camareros en vista. Dos huéspedes que llegan inmediatamente después de nosotros, nos levantamos y nos fuimos. El vino llegó después de 35 minutos y solamente cuando nos dijo el camarero que sirve la comida que aprecian el vino antes y certeza con la comida. Los refrescos llegó después de dos solicitudes, 10 minutos después de que el vino. Ordenamos una botella de vino blanco, pero se servía dos copas de tinto. Estos cambiaron a dos vasos de vino blanco (que se convirtió en la casa) complomentary. Un camarero culpó al otro por haber olvidado (no hay sentido de trabajo en equipo y solidaridad). Los refrescos también gratis, pero todavía parecía en la factura. Tuvimos una larga espera para los platos, algunos de los cuales fueron luego sirve tibio. Y podría seguir. . . . Dos personas a través de su comida a la izquierda midway, claramente insatisfechos! I booked a table for a treat for my partner and I having eaten at Cucina several years ago while it was part of the Missoni Hotel (I had my wedding there, so Cucina did the food which was absolutely AMAZING) I have no idea WHAT has happened in between times but for the current proprietors to still be trading off the previous reputation of this as an award winning italian restaurant is nothing short of shameful. Firstly we walked in on a busy, sunny summers night in Edinburgh city centre and the place was dead, at 7:30pm. Only two other couples dining, and dining in near darkness - the lighting was just bizarrely low, nothing moody or ambient about it, it was just dark. The waiter came round with the bread basket and tongs, where I explained that I'm gluten intolerant and was delighted when he said immediately "that's no problem!" and whisked off to the kitchen. He came back with two slices of the driest, saddest looking white bread STILL IN A CELLOPHANE PACKET and presented this to me on a plate. In the packet. I was just gobsmacked, and from this point on the rest of the meal was just hilariously bad. Firstly the menu - does "Ham Hock Croquette", "duck & potato pie" or "sticky toffee pudding" scream quality Italian restaurant to you?! I went for the pea pannacotta for starters as it was the only thing remotely italian (or frankly edible sounding as the soup was beetroot and feta, served cold...?) and while it looked very attractive there was about three times more pea pannacotta than anyone could reasonably eat (it's a very particular, rich, strong flavour) and very, very little of anything else (think *literally* 3 broad beans cut in half and half a radish so thinly sliced it's almost invisible) So I managed to eat a third of that, and moved on to the Confit Duck & Potato Pie (again for me the only edible thing as the other options were fish cake (mmm italian...) or mushroom risotto, not for me) - the single least flavoursome pie I have ever been presented with, it tasted like air, and the pak choi was only tasty at the very ends, the rest just really crunchy and tasteless. I am not remotely a fussy eater, and I never make a scene in restaurants, I just felt so cheated and disappointed, and I honestly couldn't put a mouthful more of that godawful pie in my mouth. The poor waiter was very upset by this and really did do his level best to redeem the evening (with an extra glass of prosecco) but given that the place remained dead, the music went off halfway through our meal leaving us in semi-lit silence in a near-empty restaurant, there was little he could do. This used to be one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh, and certainly (in my opinion) the best Italian, but I honestly wouldn't send my worst enemy there, it's just ghastly (with the exception of our very friendly, embarrassed waiter) Couldn't wait to leave.

Llegamos a lo que parecía la puerta de atrás con nadie para recibirnos, había reservado meses antes de nuestra visita, pero tenía miedo de inmediato, ya que el restaurante estaba prácticamente vacío a las 20:00 en una noche de sábado. Otra pareja nos siguió después nos sentamos a la mesa que estaban estudiando el menú en la entrada por alguna razón extraña de su orden y las bebidas fueron tomadas antes de nosotros y a quince minutos antes de pedir bebidas tomado el nivel de servicio era horrible y me atrevo a pensar lo que hubiera sido si el restaurante estaba lleno. Tengo que decir que la comida cuando llegamos era excelente, pero en general, una experiencia muy decepcionante en general definitivamente no sería riesgo reserva de nuevo como nuestras visitas a Edimburgo son valiosas.

The hotel and rooms are lovely. The service in the hotel restaurant, knowledge levels of the staff in the restaurant and the quality of the breakfast is worse than poor. When asking our server for a Bacardi in the restaurant she had no idea what it was, asked if it was wine, laughed, gave us a drinks menu and then never came back. At least four people all served our table for our dinner, all equally as badly.

La gente usualmente decir por encima (con un triste apretón de la cabeza) a unos grandes almacenes famosos en Edimburgo, que fue tomado por una cadena. Por desgracia, creo que también es cierto de este lugar. Nos encantó como parte de la Missoni Hotel, fuimos varias veces y nos lo pasamos muy bien. Hay un bono de oferta que lo probamos de nuevo ahora es propiedad de Radisson.

Ate here with 3 friends and my wife. We arrived to an empty restaurant (although it was a Monday night). Cool welcome and it didn't get much warmer. Main waitress was very perfunctoy. Little explanation of food and as we were the only diners for some time it wasn't because they were busy! Food was fine but not what I would expect in a restaurant with such a good reputation. Lo que es una pequeña joya de lugar, escondido en una de casco histórico de la ciudad de Edimburgo. Es parte del hotel, pero una entrada independiente lo hace sentir como un restaurante independiente. Preciosa decoración y servicio atento. No es el menú italiano Mill. Merluza en salsa velouté de champán con una ostra en el lado fue excepcional. Buena selección de vinos para todos los bolsillos. No puedo esperar a volver. Mi odio de mascotas es el restaurante tener que esperar siglos en la factura, cuando el vino está todo terminado! No es un problema aquí. Nos atendieron muy bien desde el principio hasta el final y la factura llegó con un minúsculo casero tarta de Bakewell cada uno. Bonito detalle. Una auténtica delicia de la noche.

Nous redoutions la décoration un peu clinquante pour ce diner de réveillon mais nous fumes agréablement surpris... lumières douces, tables bien isolées, serveurs aux petits soins : ce fut parfait. Et bien sûr, le plus important, le repas fut à la hauteur... excellente cuisine, fine et savoureuse, légère. Prix assez élevés mais c’était une soirée particulière.

Really good pizzas/calzone/sides. Quirky restaurant with large benches for all customers. Nice local drinks options and slushy cocktails. Friendly staff and quick service - had to wait 20 mins for a table but they take the number and call you back so we went elsewhere for a quick drink.

We went here on Christmas Day after having analysed various restaurants' menu choices especially catering to vegetarians... their options were excellent including non vegetarian options. A very small but very nice touch was not sitting people (or taking further bookings) on tables immediately next to each other...i.e. a free table separating all customers for the whole day. Quick service, friendly staff, perfect timing between courses. The photos don't do the place justice in terms on ambience and atmosphere. The sommelier was very helpful with selecting wines... well worth the Christmas price of £85 a head.

First impressions are often best. My first impression of Cucina is that it is a pretty good place for a nice lunch, either take-away or sit-in. I sat down and had a perfectly satisfactory snack lunch and my observation of the take-out counter was that several people (office workers perhaps) were regular customers who enjoyed a wide and varied choice of sandwiches, wraps and snacks.

Mi marido y yo elegimos este restaurante para mi comida de cumpleaños en nuestras vacaciones de mini porque me encanta la comida italiana, y no nos decepcionó. No había demasiada gente, aunque comer temprano. La comida era deliciosa, tanto optamos por platos de pasta, y el servicio era genial. Eight of us arrived at the restaurant at 7.45pm for dinner. The restaurant was not that busy, probably two thirds full. We were seated and waited for our waiter. About 20 mins later we had to chase someone down to order a drink. Drinks were ordered and everything seemed ok...only we hadn't been given menus. So, we asked for our menus, finally they arrived.

I visit the Cucina restaurant at least once a year or so and normally rate it quite highly but my latest experience with my son for his belated birthday was truly exceptional.Roasted scallops with celeriac puree and saffron dressing, accompanied by the sommelier's choice of a glass of North Italian Gewurztraminer, was rated as good as it gets by both of us, followed an excellent roasted lamb rump with side dishes of roast potatoes and courgette strips, with a very good red wine again selected by the sommelier. A chocolate ganache with white chocolate ice cream and caramel sauce and a shared plate of well chosen and varied Italian cheeses completed our meal.We were being looked after personally by Michal, the manager, but the service from all his staff was flawless. The sommelier was knowledgeable and friendly and selected wines for us which complemented our food perfectly. The other waiting staff were also excellent - they always are, in my experience - and meeting the chef to offer our appreciation and thanks was a bonus.All in all a great night!

We dined here for a friends special birthday and started with cocktails in the bar. They were delicious!We moved up the restaurant and there were a handful of tables occupied. The decor is lovely and it is a shame it wasn't busier. But when you see the menu prices you can appreciate why. We enjoyed three courses and the food was good but not amazing. It is definitely not worth the cost. The portions are small and you are not left feeling very full at the end. Service was faultless, attentive yet not too intrusive. I don't see myself visiting again as have had nicer meals for less money.
