Had a lovely meal here with family. Food was great, came out quickly, fresh and tasty. Staff were attentive, especially Louis who was very helpful, polite and couldn't do enough

Visited here for my mums birthday. Haven’t been for a few years as not local myself, but I won’t be returning. Firstly the table for 10 that was pre booked was 2 rectangle tables plus a round table behind them. Not exactly a sociable seating setting. The fabric seats on the chairs were heavily stained too. Some of meals were ok but the chips were hit and miss if actually cooked through and the bread for the fish goujon sandwich was just medium cut processed bread, so fell apart as soon as you tried to pick it up. Also had to wait nearly an hour for the food to come out after ordering. None of the 4 cubicles in the ladies toilets upstairs had any toilet roll in them either.

Patrick the waiter was great, brought us some playing cards! Fish and chips was great too and a lovely Guinness to wash it all down

Special thanks to Jo, who made our birthday celebratory lunch perfect! We had a coupe of requirements, which Jo reassured us were no bother and he made our afternoon just lovely. The food was delicious, portion sizes were great and everything was served hot and presented beautifully. Thank you to the amazing staff in the kitchen and to Jen. We will certainly go back and definitely recommend you visiting.

lamb and steak we ordered was not a available. Food took 1hr 30 mins and served at different times. My wife finished her mains before I wad served. Battered fish tough, chips cold. And they thought nothing was wrong!!!

We were a family of 18 and pre-ordered meals from the menu 3/4 days prior for 1pm. On arrival those who ordered Lamb Shanks and steaks were told to change their choice as they had not had a delivery. So these were changed to fish and chips. Food wasn't served until 2.30-3.15pm during this period food was served adhoc so some of my family were finishing their food whilst others were just left waiting. The quality of food was very poor. 4 people had rock hard over cooked fish. Some had travelled for over 2 hours to this horrible pub to see family members visiting from Australia. It was a joyous occasion so didn't want to make a scene and complain and spoil the event. There was no hospitality whatsoever. One family member was asked how his meal was and he answered that his fish was dry and overcooked only to be told 'well no-one else complained'. I noticed on the reviews after we got home, that way back in October people were complaining about the awful overcooked fish which was all batter and the reply was we're sorry we'll take that on board and make it better. Clearly something they haven't done. Feeling very disappointed and ripped off having paid £15.00 for this meal. This was one of our worst meals ever. The staff need some serious lessons on hospitality and the place needs a complete overhaul regarding their food management.

Terrible food which totally shocked us, no care whatsoever, we will not be returning again which is a shame as we are local.

It was my husband’s 60th birthday so I booked a space in the pub to hold a surprise party. I booked party food for 20 people and left it all In Joe and his teams hands. I wasn’t disappointed, it was fantastic, Joe helped with the decorations and balloons and made the guest welcome as they arrived. When I walked in with my very surprised husband his face was a picture. Then the team started to load the tables with the party food. Omg there was so much it would’ve fed 30 people easily. Excellent value for money. The variety and quality of the food was far better than I expected, and everyone was saying they would be happy to hold parties there. I personally thanked Joe and the team who did an awesome job and made us all feel so special. My husband had a wonderful birthday, he said it was the best birthday he had . Awful AWFUL place, I hope the kings head is taken over by another brewery as the Stonegate group have no idea what’s going on and it’s become an awful pub. I cannot express our disappointment, we held a very important event here which ended up a total mess. The food was revolting, much of it inedible…..I was told to complain to head office and they even admitted some of the food was a ‘known issue’ ?!?! Have attached a photo of some ‘bruschetta’ Also - ignore the new glowing reviews, the suspiciously arrived after I let the stonegate group know how bad the kings head is and pointed them towards the reviews on here which all recent reviews were terrible.

Very nice meal today, enjoyed my steak, cooked how I like it and a lovely glass of pinot. Patrick was very lovely

I have been to the Kings head several times and the manager, Christianna, is very welcoming and always goes out of her way to make sure our visit is great!

I met with some family members as part of my 50th birthday celebrations. I absolutely love a margarita cocktail and I am quite fussy about how they are made but Christianna made me a delicious margarita! She certainly knows her stuff.

I have spent many great nights in The King’s Head and have always found the staff very friendly. Particularly Christianna as she is very attentive and also skilled with making cocktails. Very accommodating with kids, lovely beer garden. Would definitely recommend.
