Foods excellent here never been disapointed. Can eat in the bar or upstairs in the restaurant. Im not a football fan they do have screens and a larger screen but you can sit down stairs out the way of the main bar. Seen some good bands and special events here , good evening atmosphere. Closes early no late ones.

We had never been in the pub. Lovely welcome from the lady behind the bar, who also served our food order. We opted for a chicken Caesar salad, which came with anchovies, whichare usually omitted! Had a selection of tapas, potatoes, prawns, hummus and belly pork. All items were delicious. We followed with a waffle with chocolate and crunchy bits. Really recommend this pub for food and lovely service.

We went to the Kings Arms on the 19th Dec for a meal with my friends, we pre-booked the food because there was 12 of us. My wife ordered Scampi tartar sauce and chips but being on a diet we changed that for scampi tartar sauce and a salad, when the food came out she had about 10 pieces of scampi NO tartar sauce and just lettuce nothing else, this does not class as a salad. I must say that all the other food was of good quality and hot and the service was good.

We had organised a Christmas dinner for friends who regularly dine together at a different venue each month. We chose the Kings Arms as it is a local pub and we had eaten lunch a couple of times and the food, atmosphere and service was good. As we had to pre order our food we expected a large number of people, not so as we were the only diners (6 of us) in the restaurant. The service was reasonable although the waitress could have done with a clean top. The table was not cleared properly after each course and at the end of the meal there where still vegetable dishes, gravy boats and empty glasses. The starters were very good (soup, salmon and nut roast) but it is the first Christmas dinner I have ever had that did not include roast parsnips or sprouts. We were told that red cabbage was served instead of sprouts because quite often the sprouts were thrown away. The Christmas pudding was fine but could have been hotter. Overall it was disappointing and I would definitely not go again for a set Christmas dinner.

Went to a birthday party meal for a friend. Have always had great food at the pub/restaurant and I had brought my 18yo daughter along as she's a bit of a foodie like her dad! I didn't expect earth shattering food or service as it was a very big party, all sat together and serving a 3 course meal. I need to point out I wasn't expecting the food to be bad but my previous experiences of many other meals in many other establishments has taught me to manage my expectations. The party was 25 (ish) and the menu choice was excellent and high end... Starters like Runny scotch egg, Pan fried king Scollops, smoked pigeon breast...mains Slow cooked lamb shank, monk fish kebab etc etc... What a surprise!! The food was OUTSTANDING, the service was amazing and we were kept lubricated with consistently great service. A massive well done to these guys who have taken a small mediocre market pub and transformed it into a Gastro dream. The food choice and quality is 'up there' with some of the best restaurants and the staff are fantastic. A great team who bent over backwards to make everything perfect. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. The Sunday lunch is simply amazing and it's spared me on to make another trip today. Give it a go guys an gals... You won't be disappointed.

This was my fourth visit to this pub and I wish I had written a review on those previous visits as the food I had on those occasions was lovely as was the service. Unfortunately my recent visit was the opposite as regards the food but the service was fine. I chose the "spicy chicken wings" as I have done on every other visit. On this occasion I think a more accurate description would have been "unspicy, tasteless dinosaur wings". What arrived was a huge bowl of 6 exceptionally large and highly unappetising chicken which wasn't at all spicy and pretty tasteless. I have no idea what the wings were coated with. Such a shame. The contrast to the wings I have had before was incredible. Even the waiter was "amused" or should I say slightly embarrassed with what appeared. I can't imagine how big a plate would have been needed to have 24 of these wings as that was on the menu. My second course was equally awful and so forgettable that I have actually forgotten. I was really disappointed as, at the risk of repition, my previous visits have been great. New chef? An off night? Who knows but an altogether horrible meal.

Visited the Kings Arms last night and after waiting a short while in the Bar to get served (Pub is known in Thrapston for not having enough Bar Staff at times) we were shown upstairs to the Restaurant. What a surprise, excellent décor, very well presented. We chose from a sufficient menu although a little pricy for a market town Pub Restaurant. The starters were excellent, very surprising in fact, likewise the main meals were superb but wait for it the deserts were appalling. When we discussed our dissatisfaction with our waitress she was very understanding, taking our unfinished deserts away to the kitchen. On her return we were astounded with her reply from the Chef, it was that there was nothing wrong with it! For a Roulade it was too hard and indigestible. Now I know the Chef's version of Roulade may be different to ours but when a customer makes a complaint or observation, then it should be address in a fair and unbiased way, not just a point blank 'Nothing wrong with it'We must say that full credit should go to the waitress, she deserves full credit in the way she looked after us.

I believe in balance and giving a fair review of any restaurant. Everyone had a good meal. No complaints, no qualms about going back. Service was friendly and the décor and atmosphere was excellent. The choice of wine and beer was fine, indeed there were plenty of guest ales on tap. Should it take 45 minutes for food to arrive when there are only two tables occupied? No, there was nothing unusual or time-consuming about steaks and pies. Should I have to alert the waitress to my lack of drink and that of others at the table? No, she should be regularly checking to see if we are happy. Still, everyone was very polite and helpful and the food itself was delicious. I am willing to give it a second go.

Pub area downstairs is nice but walk upstairs to the restaurant and you'll find a beautifully decorated room which, when there are other diners, has a great ambience. Food is good and so are the prices, especially Thursday when 20% off steaks and wine! Lovely desserts, sticky toffee pud is the best I've tasted in years, millionaires cheesecake is a little sweet for my taste but beautifully presented. All in all I think this restaurant is the best in Thrapston, knocking spots off The Woolpack which could learn a lesson or two on value for money and pricing.

My husband said he'd get a drink in & watch a bit of football on the giant screen while I googled another restaurant nearby. The bar area is great for a burger on a Saturday lunchtime, but we wanted something more special for a Saturday night. Luckily, I popped upstairs to the toilet and had a nose in the restaurant. It is a perfect setting and would be fantastic for a private party. We spent several happy hours upstairs in a little world of our own. The decor is lovely and clearly not very old. It was our first family Christmas lunch out. Stunning soup to start very light and smooth, then smoked salmon and prawn cocktail which was refreshing and again a good balance. The turkey was star of show along with the red cabbage. Beautiful. Then not just pavlova also the best xmas pudding ever eaten. Washed down with coffee and mince pies. The staff were also very friendly and left us to celebrate Christmas although we never went without drinks or good service. Booking our next meal very soon.

Came here for our Christmas lunch - first time we have been here so were unsure what to expect. Food was really good and great value for the money. Everything homemade, vegetables cooked just right and really friendly staff. Restaurant upstairs is a lovely room and we shall be back hopefully soon.

Having heard that the pub had had a make over we decided to try it out. I would recommend anyone eating here, the food was fantastic, it was clearly all home made ( especially that fantastic sticky toffee pud!!!) the staff were all happy and helpful and the overall night was a good one.

Not sure what to expect from a high street pub that was easy to drive past, we had heard a few good reports so went for an evening meal. The restaurant is upstairs,it has been nicely set up and makes for pleasant dining. The food choice is more than adequate and very well done and tasty.Very friendly service I would definitely go again.

Tonight we decided to try the Kings Arms for a meal. Service was very good and we felt welcomed. As for the food my wife had the swordfish and I had an 8 oz rump steak. The swordfish was very nice and the only complaint from my wife was it could of done with some crushed new potatoes. Apart from that she though it was to die for! As for the steak I ask for a medium steak and I felt that I got one that was medium rare, however I decided to eat it and to be honest it was well seasoned and very nice. Everything else on the plate was also really nice I really liked the mushrooms.....Desserts were a a sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate fondant both were very 'moorish'. Needless to say we will be going back and quite soon too! Also it is very nice to pop down to the pub after for drinks. All in all a very nice experience, I can strongly recommend the Kings Arms. Please give it a go!!!

Heard on the grapevine that a restaurant had opened up above the pub, we went for Sunday lunch with 10 people. We were greated and offered a chance to have a pint at the bar or go staright upstairs. The renovation is great, the room light and airy and there is a little bar upstairs to. The food was very good, we only had Sunday lunch but there was a couple of other food options for those not wishing a "roast". A quick look at the weekday menu and the specials board tells me we will return !. I'm pleased that at last we can walk to somehwere for a meal now rather than having to drive over to Slipton, Titchmarsh and Twywell. I recommend eating here.

On arrival good atmosphere in the bar area and received a friendly welcome. We dined upstairs in the restaurant, the menu although brief offered a fantastic selection and made it hard to decide as they all sounded delicious especially the starters. The food itself was nicely presented and the complimentary bread and dipping oils were well received . Both starters and main courses were cooked perfectly and were delicious and not over priced the only negative is that home made chips would have been better. The waitresses were friendly, helpful and attentive with being over-bearing, although having to work both downstairs and upstairs sometimes meaning a delay if you needed something. Overall this was a lovely evening, great good, service and ambience. Wines decently priced but a sparkling rose brut would be a nice addition.

Booked in with friends for a meal on a Friday evening.Restaurant itself is nice and Modern, clean and bright. Waitress were attentive with out being overbearing. Menu selection was Ok and prices were reasonable.Starters were acceptable but the chef needs to learn how to cook a steak. One of our party requested medium rare steak but was give one that was medium/well done. This was returned and the second one was no better! One other medium rare steak was only just Ok and when cut into you could see that it had been cooked on one side more than the other. This spoliled an otherwise good evening. Will probably return but not for a while.

Called on the off chance last night after running out of ideas where to go. It is a great pub has kept the traditional "pub" character downstairs and a lovely modern restaurant upstairs. We were acknowledged when walked in by a member of staff with a good sense of humour. Offered two menus bar meals and restaurant. We opted for the restaurant. The food was really lovely, freshly cooked and well presented. A very pleasant waitress who was attentive but not over the top. The whole place was immaculately clean. Would definitely visit again. Husband would like to add that the beer was good too very well kept pint.

I did not wtite a review after the first visit as it was the opening night and wanted to see if it would be consistent. Well after 6 more visits I can confirm it is very much so. Highly recommended. The Sunday Lunch is simply wonderful and excellent value for money but I would advise you book now as it has become very popular. The brand new restaurant is well run and well looked after for evening meals. The food is excellent and the service fantastic. I met the owners who are new and a young couple who have definitely put this restaurant on the map. Well worth a visit.

Although the service in the cafe was slow and the staff forgot to bring me my order, the food was actually very tasty. However, the visit to the toilet was horrendous - the toilet seat in the unisex, accessible toilet had been left up to, to expose the most disgusting orange/brown urine staining (see photo's). I reported this to the store manager, who couldn't have been less interested - despite me showing her the toilet seat, she offered no apology, smiled and stated that it had already been reported and she was already aware of it. I believe she said that it was being addressed next week, so if anyone needs the toilet, you may be better to cross your legs until you can find somewhere more sanitary to use! Very annoyingly, the manager saw fit to speak to somebody on her headset whilst I was talking to her - really disrespectful and patronising. Really not the standard that I expected from Waitrose!

First visit for a while. Will need to go back again. Food really good, good size portions and served piping hot. Very reasonable prices as well.
