Seemed like a great pub with a buzzing atmosphere, and nice to see space for drinkers and not just all tables, although there was still plenty of space for diners. We visited for Sunday roast, and while service was good and food was nice, the portions were tiny. I had roast chicken and it just didn’t fill me up at all. I would rather pay an extra few quid and have a proper lunch. Sorry, but only 3 star review due to me leaving hungry.

This is quite a big pub as deceptively stretches at the back but retains a cosy real pub atmosphere. Friendly welcome & we ordered drinks & food. Just some olives to share as a start which were delicious & well dressed & as the fish & chips( cooked well) was an absolutely huge plate any more would have been a stretch. Good array of their own Joules ale & we tried the pale, monk & batch. My only niggle is the ales do seem a little bland but overall would recommend.

Me, my wife & Diego our dog visited this lovely, friendly Joules pub during a drizzly day last week, looking for a couple of drinks & lunch during our holiday. We were glad we did. I didn't catch her name, but the landlady was super friendly, came over with treats & water for Diego & took our orders. Fish & chips & it was perfect! It was fresh & tasty, really nice Cod. The locals were friendly too, despite not knowing us from Adam. My type of pub! If you're in Church Stretton & after some cosy drinks & nice food, I'd recommend giving this pub a go.

Unfortunately the food was awful. Raw sweet potato and lentil curry. Couldn't pierce with a fork. Cold steak. Onion rings also nearly raw. At no point during the meal did any staff check if we were happy, and when we left the food clearly on the table and paid, no one checked when paying. Pub is lovely, warm and welcoming, drinks fine, food shit.

What has happened? We loved eating at this pub when we visited Church Stretton. Now it is a limited choice and quality poor. The fish was bland and vegetables rock hard. Hoping there is a rethink and the steak and scampi delights return! Slow service but very pleasant staff.

Lovely Joules pub and good service with a nice atmosphere. Sadly they’ve changed the Sunday menu & very little to choose from. This time round visiting we were not happy due to this change. But the food we did order was good. The cauliflower cheese that came with my beef was bland. The fish & chips were good & my son’s child’s portion was ok. They do cater for people with allergies if you ask. We were not acknowledged for a while when we turned up, we were ignored by the bar tender, which we found rude. So due to our experience overall I’d give them an 7/10.

The starters were huge. I had.oloves and hummus and there was so much..plus two pitta breads. Would have been better as a sharing starter. Husband had Kim prawn starter and said that was lovely too. We then had steak and an extra portion of scampi. Sadly this was underwhelming. 4 pieces of scampi cost an extra £5! The onion rings were so big... not particularly pleasant, and the rest of the food was quite bland. Not worth the price tag in my opinion. Would have been better if a bit of salad or peas added. Just so bland. And no lemon for the scampi, lovely place though and we were undercharged and I informed them accordingly.. just a few added touches would have made the meal spot on.

Down rated due to the lack of food available and slight ineptness of the staff to cope with business and food situation. 45minute wait for food however I think it may have been a one off. The food that was served was mostly good! 10oz Rump steak for me was cooked perfectly and a lovely cut + the peppercorn sauce was to die for. However the chicken burger - just chicken on a bun. No sauce no butter no nothing. Other meals from the group were good! Busy place with live music in the front and restaurant in the back! Dog friendly in the pub AND restaurant!

The pub looked so small and crowded from the outside, I avoided going until the Monday of my stay arrived and everwhere else was closed. How I wished I'd tried it sooner! There is a large dining area to the rear of the main bar, and was immediatedly accommodated by the welcoming staff. All of of the team were helpful and pleasant, with a good range of pub classic choices, plus a few more unusual dishes. Portions were plentiful to put it mildly! All carefully cooked and easily digested. This place certainly turned out to be the most reliable choice in town!

There's nothing we craved more than ending the walk with a decent meal. And while there's lots of options to choose from in Church Stretton, we lucked out with first choice of the Kings Arms, because they were serving exactly what we were after. Pie. We were pleasantly surprised that this wasn't all they had going for them. Decent selection of beer, nice warm interior that filled up quick in the bar area, but then an even bigger restaurant and outdoor earlier out the back. Of course, the steak and ale pie was exceptional, served with gravy, chips and a generous portion of veg. Just what we were after. Special mention to the lads serving in the restaurant. Actually some of the best service we've experienced. Thanks a lot!

Stayed in flat above. Old tourist attraction leaflets in plastic wallets. An old folilo folder with more old crap in. Everything old and mostly unnecessary. No idea where to put rubbish bags when full. No welcome pack. Just stupid questions on initial phone call asking if we sleeping in separate rooms due to snoring or in the same room as a couple ???? And some old advice on Sat Nav that was not an issue and does NOT take you through Ford. Clearly some idiots have come this way. No politeness. Just moaning if you ring on a Sunday evening and the owner wants "quiet" time after only working 3 days a week. Yet was going to ring on the Monday morning. What when people are driving travelling to location??? ??? 🙄. NOT a quiet location as a local hanging out place even 7pm in the evening. With cars honking to each other. Delivery van honking every morning going next door. Motorbike next door starting in morning and returning 10pm at night. Who ever the imbecile is with heavy boots/footfalls that keeps on going into cafe when it is shut and slamming door every day. Neighbouring property busy and constant visitors. Ridiculous. Definitely would not stay again. Same idiot owner who asked stupid questions half way through holiday knocked on the door and asked us to move our vehicles into a field just for the customers over the weekend. Even though the cafe shuts at 4pm so no-one will be here. And we have paid for the parking as advertised on hoseasons. Only good points. Well equipped with necessities. Value for money.

We had a lovely evening; we booked our table rather late in the week and the restaurant was very busy, so we were not surprised when there was a bit of a wait for our food. However, the beer was good, the staff were really nice and when the food arrived it was great. It's so nice to see some interesting dishes on the menu, rather than the ubiquitous offerings of most pubs. Gold stars to the hard-working waitress who, despite having to negotiate lots of stairs with the food orders, remained cheerful all evening. Will definitely eat there again.
