First visit in a few years and it did not disappoint. Decor, low key and very comfortable, ambient atmosphere. Very attentive waiter. Food: Onion baji’s all round - best I have had, crispy on outside and soft inside. Mint sauce, a must for me, was perfect and did not taste of yogurt. Tandoori Mixed grill for me, and friend, large lamb chop, garlic chicken, tikka chicken, whole chicken tandoori breast and more lamb and shami kebab. Came on sizzler with onions and peppers. I can honestly say, again, the best I have had, all meat tender and delicious . Balti curry, which in the past I have found to be bland at other restaurants, not so here, tasty with a naan to finish. Chicken tikka masala for other half - came out very red but nonetheless was also delicious, with mushroom rice and keema naan. With drinks , lager and sparkling water came to about £28 each - thoroughly enjoyed and is top of my go to Indian restaurants in area.

Although somewhat worried by how quiet it was on a Saturday compared to the last time we dined here a few years ago our initial concerns were unfounded. Great service and food as always. Far too much for us all to eat but the staff were more than happy to box up a few dishes rather than it go to waste. Reheats a treat! Can 100% recommend.

Really enjoyed our Indian meal here with a small group of friends. I had the Rogan Josh and was very happy with it. Everyone had different and everyone enjoyed their meals. The house red wine is good too and reasonably priced. Were a little slow getting us to our table that we had reserved but that was just a minor niggle.

The Kingfisher is probably the best Indian restaurant in Congleton. The food is really good and the service is great and it is really good value for money.

This was the first time trying food at Kingfishr and I ordered a takeaway. Overall the food was uninteresting and bland. I ordered lamb tikka masala and butter chicken and it looked and tasted like both had the same sauce. The garlic cheese naan tasted only of garlic and was a bit soggy. The aloo gobi was mushy, overcooked and flavourless. The only pleasant part of our takeaway experience were the popadoms with onion chutney. A real shame - I won’t be rushing back.

Excellent food and service. Extensive menu, friendly staff and great food. This is now our local Indian having recently moved to the area.

Meal for 8 on a Saturday night. Starters and mains all decent, sides good too. I'd recommend they widen their range of beers (only a couple of lagers) - add some cans or bottles of rea/ / craft ale. Hot towels were the usual microwaved wit wipe - not a fan. Mint was cheapo imperials - come on lads, get the After 8s out! But overall, a very respectable curry.

Our 'go to' restaurant was closed, last minute & very hungry we decided to try Kingfisher (the 5* hygiene rating was the decider) What a lovely surprise... Wouldnt bother ordering from KingFishr online, checked website at 10:15pm, stated still open, so placed order for delivery. Didnt get confirmation if acceptance on their website so Long story short, I'm £40 tied up now online because when rang at 10:30pm to find out what was going on they claimed "closed now" despite being open until 11pm on their official website. The guy on the phone who basically couldn't care less, when i told him I had ordered for my whole family including kids, he claimed all machines were off because they are closed and told to ring tomorrow and then hung up! Very rude on the phone, didn't care that kids were not going get the food and taking payment for a service they can not provide despite basically advertising they can do! Not good!! To top it all off I have wait now 3-4 days for return of my money!!

Disappointing: The food was generally lacking seasoning, The parathas were under-cooked and doughy, the madras came in mild.

Ordered from the takeaway. Took around 45 minutes to be prepared, and had to be collected as I didn’t reach the minimum for delivery. That said, the food was lovely and fresh. The Lamb Nepali was fantastic; hot and sweet.

We were going to book here for Christmas Day but decided to check it out before. We booked the table a few days before the Saturday of our visit, for 5 people. The waiter came to take our order quite quickly, before we’d hardly had chance to look at the menu. We all agreed the food was lovely, but around 10 minutes after finishing we were asked if we could move to the lounge to finish our drinks. Not something any of us had experienced before but we obliged and moved. The ‘lounge’ turned out to be a cold and draughty corner by the door, the takeaway pick up area. We paid our bill, left our remaining drinks and left the restaurant, absolutely disgusted by the way we’d been treated. We’d had no time to let our meals settle, were not asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. In fact almost felt like we were being thrown out. What was supposed to be a lovely family evening was thoroughly spoilt by this terrible customer service. We will not be returning.

Excellent value Sunday set menu at £11.95. In particular the mix starters and naan were delicious. The staff are very welcoming.

This was my first and last visit to this restraunt. Very sub standard meal with friends, the chicken was very tough and chewy and the curry that I and two of my friends got was unedable. My friend and I both had upset stomachs the next day, this was over a week ago and only now feeling better. we will not be back.

Fabulous food for a great price! They do a Sunday deal for under £15 pp including poppadoms, starters, main, side dish and rice which is an incredible deal especially when it tastes as good as it does. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and always make it a lovely meal out. Best Indian in Congleton by far!

Used the restaurant as many others are closed on Tuesdays. Opted for the collection service having booked on line. Easy menu and booking, great countdown to delivery and email confirmation when ready. Packaging was great, food fabulous - we will be back!

Before lockdown we went quite regularly and since lockdown we often have takeaways. We have never had a bad meal from here. The staff are always friendly nothing is too much trouble.

In Lockdown 2.0, we can’t do our normal Kingfishr , a takeaway Kingfishr will have to do. Chicken Naga Jalfrezi and Peshwari murgh with a poppudom (is that how you spell it?) starter, and a Naan the size of an Indian Elephants ear, lovely. 5*...

the food was average, my chicken karahi lacked flavour, it was still nice but not as good as other indian resturants in congleton. good value for money with the eat out to help out and nice interior inside.

We came here with friends once we were allowed out of lockdown and we weren't disappointed, the service was quick and the food was tasty. Our friends were very impressed. We cant wait to eat there again next week

Absolute garbage we have never had such a worse India takeaway the mains are in the bin after the taste of the starters.

This was a first visit on a Saturday evening. I had requested a quiet table if possible as one of the party was hard of hearing. I were told that that might not be possible as it was going to be a very busy evening, but they would sit us in a corned to try and limit the noise level, which they did.It certainly was busy - there were two large family parties and the rest of the tables were all full. The menu was plentiful and varied, allowing it to suit all tastes.In spite of the busyness, we were not kept waiting, nor were we hurried. The standard of the meal average. There was some confusion at the end of the meal when one of the party asked foe a dessert menu only to be told that they did not have one, so we went to the bar to pay. There it became apparent that there was a menu, but the waiter only knew 'pudding' and not 'dessert', however, as it happened, this was not too distressing as all they offered were pre-prepared and frozen . This was not the best , but the evening was pleasant and we were well served and were treated well, with no long waits.

Our family favourite. Never disappoints in any way. Friendly staff who want you to have a great experience. I highly recommend it. Well done to Ollie and his team. I’m also hard to please. So, great job!

Both me and my wife had a lovely meal on our rare visit here. The place is looking a bit tired in all honesty and could do with a bit of a refurb. One downside, when we entered the restaurant i went to the toilet, having washed my hands there was no paper towels to dry my hands. I informed them immediately. Half an hour later i went again, only to find still no paper towels. Poor standard really.

First time visit and it is clean and inviting there were 6 of us , good variety on the menu , so started off with onion bahgi not the best by any standard nice size but no flavour and the yoghurt sauce was very thin not as good as you would find in any other Indian restaurants I have visited , main course was off their specials can’t remember the name now but lacked seasoning and flavour but the chicken and garlic were ok , the beer Cobra was good as is usual anywhere , overall the best thing was the sweet chilli sauce that I put on my popadom, will not go again sorry to say .

My family made the trip out to Kingfishr tonight and absolutely loved the food. My dad especially enjoying the onion bhaji and the Madras curry. It is excellent value for money at 9.95 for a Sunday menu including popadums, starter, main, side and sundries. It would cost you more for take out. We will 100% be returning.

Good food slightly salty didn’t need to be as good taste to the food without the salt in the starters mains were lovely great tasting chiken Bhuna. Cheese and garlic NaN needs to be more cheese and garlicy mind might as well if had plain !

Booked a table prior to visit as this is a popular restaurant. Shown to our table on time. The food and service was excellent. They had a very large party in about roughly the same time as ourselves but the staff still managed to serve our meal without undue delay and were attentive to our needs. Which was no mean feat under the circumstances! Hope to return again soon never disappointed!

One of the few places that have a very nice Indian food. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable about what they serve.

Service always friendly and attentive. Sauces with the poppadoms are just the right choice between hot and spicy and mild and sweet. Mains great all round with the tandoori mixed grill being so over facing I couldn't eat it all. The staff were happy to box it up so we can take it home.

Having visited all of the curry house in town, this stands out from the rest. The food is consistently excellent and the staff can't do enough. The prices are good and the restaurant great. They also do a delivery service.

I have been to KingfishR several times for business meals. They have never let us down, with staff and food always on point. Absolutely recommend the lamb chops, best I’ve ever tried.

We have moved out of congleton and only returned occasionally but not had time to visit our favourite restaurant but this time round we decided we will go and visit the restaurant and our friends on a Saturday night we walked in at 7pm and the place was nearly full. We got recognised straight away and was seated had a catch up with the boys and now time for food, I don’t know if it’s possible but to me the food tasted even better than before as I thought it may have lost its touch but boy was I wrong. Thank you boys for a wonderful evening we won’t keep it this long for our next visit.

Very slow at delivering food which is at best just average. Their takeaway service took an hour and forty minutes to deliver. Will not be using this restaurant again.

Visited on a Sunday night and enjoyed a meal from the set menu. This is competitively priced and you're unlikely to find greater value in Congleton on a Sunday than this.

So unfortunate the delicious freshly cooked sauces, that only improve in flavour if left for a day or two, are spoilt by chicken tikka that is pr-cooked in the tandoori oven and re-heated in the sauce - what a shame!

We visited here on our aniversary, food and service is just fantastic my wife ordered a curry she had never tried before. KingfishR is the best restaurant I have ever been to. This will be the place where I will be coming to eat every week from now on. Customer service is absolutely terrific and we were also greeted with a warm welcome. I recommend this place to everyone.

Traditional decor and menu well executed. The veggie options were very good and the usual suspects on draft as beers. The portions were substantial, so much so a doggie bag was needed and, like all good curries, even better the next day. Well worth a visit.

Having been recently let-down by another establishment in the town we visited KingfishR. As ever, the welcome was genuine, the service perfect and the food absolutely delicious.

Four of us went for an evening meal. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, everything was excellent. Looking forward to our next visit.

We recently visited KingfishR with my family and girlfriend for a birthday meal on the 27th of November 2017. Having not been here before I was slightly unsure what to expect. When we were arrived we were greeted by a friendly staff member who showed us to our seats and presented us with set menus. It is not ideal that only set menus are available but in this case it was for the best. £9.99 a head included Popadoms for the table, a starter each and a choice of curry 2 accompaniments. Wine was £14.99 a bottle so that wasn't exactly extortionate either when shared.

We used to love Kingfishr and it used to be our go to choice for curry. We’ve ordered a fair few times over the last few years. Not anymore.

Having visited to check out the menu etc. Afterwards, my wife and I were so impressed that I decided to book for a party of 13 in which there were 2 vegetarians and 2 or 3 who did not like too spicy food. The mixed starters were quite filling for some of the party and the waiter offered to ask the chef to delay the main meals for a short time. Needless to say, with a party with varying tastes and requirements the meal choices were quite varied. Staff were polite and very accommodating, I paid for the food and the party paid for their own drinks, the manager provided a separate drinks bill and pen and paper for us to sort it out. After the meal I asked everyone if they had enjoyed the meal and we had no complaints whatsoever. Only comment was that the jalfreizi was rather spicy, but not a problem. Booking for a party which can be quite critical I was more than satisfied with the experience from our first meal to the meal for the party.

Came here tonight a group of 11 for a birthday meal and was really surprised.the curry was lovely & full of flavour & the rest of the food was delicious.staff friendly & a nice atmosphere highly recommend this place will definitely be back

Great restaurant with very helpful staff, who really went above and beyond the call of duty when my car broke down! Wonderful schashlik and fabulous nan bread.

- dishes lacked flavour - lots of colouring used in the curries - lots of chilli used to cover up for the lack of spices - samosas had no flavour- they forgot to include the prawn masala in our takeaway orderGenuinely surprised this place has good reviews. I would strongly recommend not eating here. You'd have better value from a jar of Sharwoods!

Arrived on a Saturday evening to a full house. Greeted with a smile by the waiters. Got seated at a lovely table. Drink order and poppadoms taken straight away. Food order soon followed and starters were out shortly after and swiftly followed by the mains. Food was top notch and the lava was fabulous. Would highly recommend kingfishr for a curry or family night. The waiters were friendly and had a great laugh with us. Top boys, well trained and mannered. Overall 10/10 hope to see you guys soon!

The worst 'indian' I've had in years...Tandoori Chicken Main which was like rubber. The sauce was like a Tesco warm up sauce with no taste.The Veg rice was 'ok'Never again.

Absolutely shocking food, we had 4 different dishes and the sauce was exactly the same in each one. Meat was over cooked and rubbery, I had the ribs to start and they didn't have any meat on them. Staff were very friendly but didn't know anything about the menu. Avoid avoid avoid

By far the best Indian takeaway in congleton. Ordered online twice and always had the correct food. Such tasty fresh Indian food and not overpriced at all. Lovely staff and very professional, they even open the door for you when you leave. Definitely will book a table next time to try the dining in experience

Have now used KingfishR meal home delivery three times this year and they have never fallen below 5 star standard. This is now firmly our first choice for Indian takeaway in Congleton. In both delivery times and quality of food, we have nothing but praise.

Top class food and service at this fabulous restaurant it's the best Indian for food to eat in and take-a-way in fifty miles radius very well worth a visit and the staff are excellent

As a regular customer I organised a charity curry night to raise funds for Caudwell Children. Ollie and the team were as brilliant as ever great food and service and along with 34 diners we raised over £270. A great night at the best curry house in the area for miles

Myself and my partner have been here a lot of times, it is by far the nicest restaurant we go to. We went last Thursday (9th feb). The food is just amazing I can highly recommend the tandoori mixed grill main, and I have had the Akbari Cham Cham previously. We are never kept waiting for long with our food or drinks! The staff are so so friendly and helpful.Lovely clean restaurant. Food is fresh and soooo tasty!It's a definite!

Once again in Congleton and I ended up at KingfishR for a curry. Was amazing as they never disappoint. Arrived at half past 7 and it was fairly busy with staff running to get jobs done. We were greeted at the bar by the manager and were seated right away, drink order and poppadums was taken as soon as we sat down. Within a few minutes the place was full and the atmosphere was party like, as there were a handful of parties/birthdays. It was great to see them doing well, however, this didn't slow them down as service was in point as we expected. The selection of food was unreal as their was a wide selection of different style curries to choose from which left us all a bit confused on what to have. Once ordered, the starters were out on time (the Thai style chilli chicken is to die for) and mains followed without being rushed. The prices are affordable and nothing is over priced. The staff were all smiling on a busy day and service was quick and efficient. They also have a good selection of desserts for those with a sweet tooth. Well done to the lads at KingfishR keep it up and will see you boys soon!

Ordered a takeaway from this restaurant from which I've ordered many good takeaways before when it was the Bon-o-phool. Only the onion bhajis were worth anything. My south indian lamb garlic chilli tasted of nothing but spice. My wife's lamb meatball paneer masala contained freshly defrosted lamb meatballs that were raw when you cut into them. King prawn on puri starters were also fresh out of the freezer and tasted of nothing. Utter rubbish. The worst so called "Indian" restaurant/takeaway in Congleton.
