King Wok in West Berkshire

We just moved into the area and was advised by the previous owners about King Wok and so glad we ordered as food was so fresh and delicious! Definitely will be one of our favourites.

I am very sorry to post this review but last two weeks I have been waiting way too long for the food I called in ordering it 1 hour before. Last week waited over 40 min and today over 20 min as well. The food is always great and also very polite lady in the counter but this isn’t acceptable. It’s clearly the slowest Chinese restaurant I have been and I have been to hundreds in this country. If it’s busy don’t tell 1h, tell it will take longer, that is not a problem, standing while waiting is. Also when it is running late the minimum is offering a drink or prawn crackers, this shouldn’t even be said by a customer, owners should know this! I have been a customer for a few months now every Friday, I believe I deserve more!

Just moved into the area and were told to try King Wok, I’m glad we did! We only waited an extra 5 minutes when we went to collect the food, the lady serving us was lovely. The food was piping hot when we got it home and all very delicious, we couldn’t fault it.

Just had a takeaway from King Wok Theale. It was awful. The chicken was not like chicken at all, dark brown and chewy. The prawns tasted of chlorine, inedible

An excellent takeaway. The only downside is because they are super popular sometimes the wait for food can be a while, but that's a good problem to have.

The food never disappoints, would highly recommend!

Best Chinese in town. grilled and pork dumplings are the best in berkshire and I'm queen of dumplings!!

Food fantastic, 2 hour wait for it which I understand because of how popular it is. Got told to collect at 7:45 and waited a further 35 mins in restraunt waiting. Like I said food was well worth it but bare this in mind before ordering as I ordered a Chinese for my daughter's dinner but unfortunately by the time it was finally ready she had to leave for work essentially waisting her food.

A bit expensive but good service

I struggle to find anywhere to match the crispy chilli beef here. Its the best, always have to have one when I'm back in the area

Really don’t understand the reviews on here seems odd. Every dish we had was like it was cooked by someone at home didn’t have that takeaway taste to it at all. Firstly The salt & pepper chicken had no onions, chillies, peppers or carrots, just literally soggy fried chicken with seasoning. Egg fried rice was bland. The chow mein had some weird sweet sauce on it, and the curry again was pretty bland with no mushrooms which was a first. Very disappointing and there’s Far better in the area. This place needs to up their game.

Can take a little long for takeaway but food quality is the best in town, never disappointed after 10 years.

Amazing food but by far the worst customer service I have ever received every time I go there. If you’re prepared to pay £50 for 2 people and wait 45 minutes longer than they tell you crack on!

Absolutely amazing Chinese food, all food is cooked fresh and the flavours explode on your taste buds😋 if ordering you will have to wait a while but its worth it every time without fail.👌

Chicken dry and beef was ‘fucked’ says my partner rice was so yellow a little of putting and found a little white/grey curly hair in my rice couldn’t really cut the chicken dry and clammy but if it was the last place on earth would eat again

Amazing takeaway and restaurant. Food is always delicious, hot and flavoursome. Definitely recommend it to anyone, they kept us going through lockdowns and the food is always exquisite!

The best Chinese takeaway, HANDS DOWN! My partner has never been a big fan of Chinese food, usually finding it too greasy and sickly, or too orange and padded out with carrot and onion. But I do love noodle dishes and really fancied a takeaway.. so scoured reviews of Chinese takeaways within reasonable driving distance of home.. Eventually found King Wok and tried them for the first time a few months ago. They're a 30 min drive from home.. but it's worth it!! Really delicious, fresh Chinese food that my partner now requests every few weeks. She loves the Aubergine in Hot Bean Sauce (not something I've seen on any other Chinese takeaway menu) .. and the Classic Spring Rolls are the best we've ever had! We won't go anywhere else now! Be warned... they can get very busy on Friday/Saturday and there can be quite a wait for food. So order early on those days to avoid disappointment!! (Last time I tried ordering on a Saturday I called at 6:15pm and they said it would be at least 8:30pm before they would be able to have it ready as they are so busy.. they're supposed to close at 8:30pm.. that how busy they were! 😄)

Absolutely the best Chinese food!! The best!! Nicest people too! Very!!

Freshly cooked, tastes great and nice friendly staff. Don't expect to walk in and get your food 5 mins later as they dont do microwave stuff. You might wait ages trying to call them so best bet is to go to the shop directly and order and then pop into a local pub for a little while to wait. It will be worth it

Best Chinese takeaway in the area.

Tried most chinese takeaways in the area. King Wok is the best by far. Really fresh tasting food and not too sickly. Very impressed. Will definitely use again.

Recently moved to the area and really struggled to find a good takeaway.... AND THEN I FOUND KING WOK. Very generous portion size at good prices. I'm from Hong Kong and it tastes like home :)

We ordered via phone on friday for Saturday by 6.00 pm to be picked up .On Saturday by 6.00 the order was ready and it was sensational. The price was very good value for money. I highly recommend king wok .

The food is amazing but there is always a massive wait. I understand they are super busy but surely taking to many orders and then having customers waiting 3 hours to collect - to then get there at collection time and wait another 25 minutes is not acceptable!

The best Chinese outside of London. The best beef and black bean on the planet.

Upside: Small family run restaurant. The main business (75%) is actually takeaway. The wait can be really long as this restaurant is really popular. Speaking to our waiter, he advised pre-ordering on the day at least an hour before or even days earlier! Not bad considering there is another Chinese takeaway a few doors down. We had dinner (x4) in the restaurant and ordered the best set menu with addition Mongolian lamb (don't miss it!). From the prawn crackers on, all the food was absolutely delicious - tasty, not greasy and really tasted 'homemade'. I really enjoy a good Chinese but had pretty much given hope locally until now. It was superb food. Cost including a couple of beers and tip £28 with plenty of food to fill 4 big fellas! Downsides - uninspiring rather basic restaurant and we had to keep our jackets on as bit cool.

Popped in to get something for dinner. They said 45min. What??? Read the reviews and this seems normal for this place and locals know this and seem happy to wait but I think its rediculous. Anyway...got my food which was nice if not a little greasy. Think I much prefer Taste of China up the Road...fresher taste, quicker service and not greasy. Sorry 😔

Takeaway and eating in is always 10/10. Fresh food, not greasy, large portions and full of flavor. Great service also and really polite staff. I wouldn't go anywhere else :) Well done King Wok keep up the good work.

Hands down best takeaway in miles, have never found anywhere that compares with the taste and quality. You do need to pre-order, no joke, day before or lunch time for evening collection if you like to pick up early eve! That to me tells me it's worth it and I think it is.

This Chinese is the beat around by far! All meals are freshly prepared and of outstanding quality. Jess is lovely who takes the orders. Yes you have to wait longer on a Friday or Saturday night but it’s being cooked fresh...and it’s well worth the wait! Can’t be beaten in the local area.

Best Chinese we have ever eaten. Consistently delivers excellent food every time in restaurant and take-away. Often shut for a few weeks in September / October, so phone to check.

King wok has been our regular Chinese takeaway for many years. We've tried others but nothing comes close to the King Wok. We moved 10 miles away and still go there....amazing food, just get on the phone early to place your order as its very busy!

Great Chinese, place order early to avoid a long wait

This place does a good Chinese take away, however sometimes you can sometimes wait up to 3 hours for a take away on a Friday or Saturday evening. I ordered a take away at 6pm on Thursday and was told it will be ready at 20 to 7. I got there at 20 to 7 and didn’t walk out with my Chinese until quarter past 7. 40 minutes after I arrived. This is not the first time this has happened and other people were complaining of the same thing. The customer before me was given free prawn crackers for his long wait. When I got mine I asked for some and was told to pay £2! Not a good experience.

We visited king wok while down for the weekend. Booked a table of 8 at 7.30. We chose two set menus of 4. Staff were efficient and helpful. Drinks and prawn crackers arrived instantly, then starters 10 mins later. Tasty and enjoyable. Then mains 10 mins after we finished starters. We weren’t rushed and when the bill came £16 per head including drinks, more than happy. Decor of the restaurant is of a cafe but did not deflect from the good food .

Local friends recommended this to us, and advised early ordering for a Saturday night. We got half a crispy duck between 4 of us, and added a banquet for three.... and there was heaps left over. Delightful food with just the right amount of spice/heat to be exciting. Recommended!

Best Chinese in a 10 mile radius....shame they can't keep up with demand....usually 60 minute plus waiting time

We visit the king wok regularly and are always delighted with both the service and the food. In particular you must try the spring greens - pak Choi in Garlic is absolutely delicious!!

Great food as always and at a good price. The service is quick but the food is still fresh and tasty. You can call to order a takeaway for collection and you can pay by card but they don't currently have contactless. The restaurant is also fantastic and the restaurant and take away food are of the same great quality.

Just back from a very tasty set meal for two. Good service and nicely presented tasty food. A real treat.

Once every 2 months the company has lunch here. We always get a large turn out as it is a favourite among the employees and we are never disappointed! Great food, staff and overall feel to the restaurant. Food comes out swiftly and hot. 5/5

I’ve been coming here for 20+ years and have always received epic food both eat-in and take-away. Friendly staff and scrumptious food with good portions. Gets busy at the weekend so plan ahead but it’s well worth the wait. Highly recommended!

Great food, friendly and patient staff! Happy to help us figure out what to order when the family is taking a while to settle on anything! Decent prices, better to eat in than takeaways as their takeaways are very busy!

I tried the take away twice and this is a really good quality Chinese. They are offering choices different than others and for who likes dumplings I recommend the soup especially appreciate in cold weather.

If you want a cracking Chinese meal, sit down or takeaway, this is the one. Situated in Theale it's also very handy for Pangbourne, Tidmarsh and other surrounding villages.

They are willing for you to wait in there shop for 40 minutes for food so don't go there and order

This is an amazing little restaurant that we have been going to since it opened in 1992; always our first choice for a Chinese meal. Very friendly staff and the quality and choice of food is just excellent. Very popular restaurant; always recommend booking in advance if you are planning on booking a table or ordering a take-away at the weekend.
