King William Inn in Bath and North East Somerset

I travel quite a lot with work and like to look for independent accommodation outside of Premier Inn and Travelodge.. I stayed here last night and I found it to be a SUPERB place to eat and stay at ! Bed and Breakfast was £74 and I had a lovely 3 course meal for £32. Genuinely, I have not found a better restaurant and accommodation throughout the UK for a business trip. The rooms are clean, classy, comfortable and such good value. This, alone, would guarantee a great review but then I went downstairs to the pub for dinner. It was truly delicious and full of flavour. I learnt that all of the menu is freshly and home made by the friendly and very talented chef and each course was piping hot. As a starter, I had the mushroom with goats cheese and onion jam. Main course was pork shoulder, mash with veg and incredible gravy ! Dessert was apple & cider crumble with custard. This was a 10/10 dinner and couldn't be faulted. All of the staff were incredibly welcoming. I visited on a Tuesday night and it was fully booked. It is obviously very popular and appears to be a hidden gem. Thank you to all of the team and I hope to revisit here in the future - this is a great place to stay at for a visit to Bath !

I dined here for and evening meal several months ago and found it very good so decided to try their Sunday lunch with family today. I am delighted that we did as the lunch was terrific, beautiful pulled brisket on a Yorkie, drizzled with a flavoursome jus, topped with horseradish went down very well for starters with all five of us. We all chose braised lamb for main and we were very pleased that we did, succulent, tasty lamb, roasties were hot, crispy and fluffy, all veg were properly cooked supported well with cauliflower cheese along with two vessels of extra gravy. (it makes a change from always asking for more) The meals are very fairly priced, decent portions and the staff are attentive and polite. We will certainly return to this wonderful country pub.

We went on a Saturday night . Two couples. The food was amazing, one of us was a coeliac and practically all food on the menu catered for this . Not expensive and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be going back soon.

A really friendly and extremely helpful staff made our stay for a wedding in the area a really enjoyable experience. The room was very clean and spacious. The breakfast was excellent with an extensive menu to choose from. We also had a light lunch which was delicious. If you are in the are I recommend a visit.

Went for my birthday and the food was absolutely delicious, the service was very friendly and the place is full of character. It is a bit small, so you need to book in advance.

Taken here for early Mother's Day treat. Food excellent and plentiful and service very good. I had pate for starter and pork loin for main. My son and daughter in law had mushroom and goat's cheese starter followed by lamb bourguignon and fish and chips respectively. Desserts were lemon meringue roulade, crumble and cheesecake. None of us could fault either quality or quantity. Also had an excellent bottle of white wine. Will definitely be making a return visit.

Had to get up twice to ask for service and food was really low quality and really small amounts even though I ordered large.

Small portions most appreciated .We have been coming to King William for years and allways been very happy with everything and will continue to come .

We eat here every six weeks when I visit my mum . We have never had a bad meal here over the past ten years. The food is tasty and very well cooked. The sunday roast is excellent value and as with all meals you can order a small or large portion depending on your appetite. Caters for vegetarians as well.

As per usual, excellent food and great service. Was really pleased that they allow dogs so we were able to let our dog lie under the table. The staff are always helpful and we really appreciated our waitress singing happy birthday to my mum.

We love the King William and have been going there for some years, mainly for lunch, so we have seen a number of different managers. We consider the current owners, the chef and his wife, are the best yet. The food is delicious and well served. My husband, a Yorkshire man who knows good fish and chips, says these are some of the best around, with light batter and tasty fish. Other dishes are full of flavour, which makes choosing one's meal difficult! The bar area is comfortable and friendly and there is a nice table in the window alcove, excellent for ladies who lunch. All in all, the King William is a lovely, well run establishment, whose staff give customers a delightful dining experience.

We had a fantastic evening, food was amazing and the staff are so welcoming and friendly, we'll definitely be going back soon.

We arrived on time and were received immediately and shown to our table. It was near the wood burning stove and was nice and cosy. the service was very efficient without being intrusive. the menu was varied with sufficient items to suit all tastes. the food was well cooked and very enjoyable. altogether a lovely experience of good food without being too fancy.

We enjoy coming to the King William and the last visit did not disappoint us, thank you for looking after us so well.

Second visit here, this time being 1 year Anniversary so was a special occasion. Food is always fantastic and great that you can choose a smaller portion. Staff are friendly and give good service. The soups are tasty, especially when we had the Red pepper last year.

I've eaten here many times. The food is good and reliable and the service is quick, friendly and efficient. Noise, for someone like me with hearing aids, is a challenge with all the stone flooring and lovely solid stone walls, especially at lunchtime: pensioners can be very, very, very loud.

Always a warm welcome and excellent quality meals. Small portions also available which suits my elderly mother. Need to book to avoid disappointment

Lovely atmosphere and friendly service but didn’t fully live up to expectations. The Brie flatbread was little more than a sandwich thin. Would have expected home made dough for the price. Otherwise ok for a Saturday evening

My husband And I had the ale pie it was over cooked ,the pastry was rock hard and the meat was very tough . This is the third meal we have had over there with friends and we have decided never to return. I don’t know if it has changed hands but the chef needs to get his act together.

seems to have been a complete change of bar staff since our last visit, but they are still friendly and helpful. Think it`s still the same chef since the food is of similar style and still great, so will certainly still keep coming from time to time.

Very good service although we had to wait a few minutes for our table despite having booked. Unfortunately there is no seating in the bar area. Good choice of food and very pleased that all the main courses come in small or normal portions. Sensible prices. Very busy. Booking is essential.

Sunday lunch with family. Good, honest roast lunches enjoyed by all. Able to talk without distraction of loud piped music or rowdy bar customers. Well situated table. Goo, prompt service. Marginally more pricey than similar venues. Well kept London Pride.

I've used this venue many times fro business lunches and it is very good with fresh food and reasonable service and good staff. The building has a lot of stone flooring, so can be a bit noisy if the coffee machine is going, which is not soo good for a deaf person wtih hearing aids like me. If you are deaf, get a seat away from the coffee machine as, like all such contraptions, it makes quite a racket when being used.

This was a family get-together that was difficult to arrange because of prior commitments, distance needing to be travelled by some people and the complete deafness of one of our group. It should have been for 8 people but 2 had to cancel at the last minute due to illness. The staff were very understanding, went out of their way to meet our needs and were pleasant and friendly when it would have been easy not to be. The food was excellent - tender lamb, tasty fresh vegetables served separately and not overcooked, a vegetarian option - at an exceptionally reasonable price. It was also possible to opt for a 'small' version, which suited the two 80 year olds in our party. They were then able to enjoy one of the tempting deserts! Pleasant ambiance if a little raucous at the bar by 2.00 pm. All of us would thoroughly recommend the King William Inn.

King William always serves tasty, well balanced meals in pleasant surroundings. The staff are always attentive and friendly. Certainly a pub to recommend and return to.

The King William is one of my favourite places to eat. The service is always good and staff are very friendly and attentive. The food never fails to disappoint. Highly recommend the steaks and white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake.

I would have given the pub a higher rating but we were very disappointed on Sunday. I&#039;d booked a table for 3pm through Opentable for my birthday. On arrival we were told that the kitchen closed at 3! They said &quot;As we were in there they would serve us&quot; We were asked to order quickly and then 5 minutes later, even though my son hadn&#039;t arrived, we were told our food was ready and that they could keep his under the hotplate. The food was good but the experience was very rushed and uncomfortable.<br />I don&#039;t believe that the pub should take bookings for tables at 3pm if the kitchen closes at 3.<br />It wasn&#039;t the experience I&#039;d hoped for.

Not much food on the plate and expensive drinks are expensive too glass of wine £10.00

As usual, another wonderful lunch. Tom and Jess both know I adore liver and bacon and had kept a portion back for me.<br /><br />My husband had the chicken and thyme pate which was delicious and the cheesy chips were quickly devoured by our daughter.

Another excellent experience at King William at Tilney. Food was exceptional and service was good as usual. We were meeting friends for over 60 years and they all said how good their meals were.<br />I can fully recommend this venue.

El personal era amable y eficiente, pero desafortunadamente la comida no era demasiado.Tuvimos pan y aceite para comenzar. El pan estaba seco y viejo, el aceite sabía a aceite vegetal barato. Los platos principales estaban bien, pero esperaba más por el precio.

This has been our "pub" of choice for an evening meal for many years. Recently had a family dinner with ten and every meal was excellent and with generous portions. You can't go wrong.

Visited here for father’s day lunch and we were not let down the staff were extremely polite and very attentive.<br />Food was exceptional the Roast Beef was beautifully cooked! Highly recommend this place it’s the 3rd time we have been here and have never been disappointed.

Excellent food, service and value as usual. On this occasion, a couple who had not been to the King William before, came with us and they were extremely pleased to have been introduced to it. You have gained two more fans.

We were staying at the Inn and so had our evening meal and breakfast here. Staff were all very friendly and the food was lovely. Very nice decor and atmosphere.

Lovely pub although stone floor makes it a bit noisy. The service is friendly and attentive and food is served without too long a wait. They are very good with my son who has learning disabilities. The menu has a good range supplemented by specials and vegetables are always good. One thing that is very welcome is that they offer smaller portions of main courses which is great for those with smaller appetites. The cheesecake was delicious. The crumble is served in silly shallow dishes with a jug of custard so it is impossible to pour on the custard. My son finds this particularly difficult but they were happy to bring his in a proper pudding dish. One thing that was particularly thoughtful was that they rang in advance to say that there was a problem with Visa payments so that we were forewarned. Lovely evening and we will be back again.

We had a very pleasant meal at the King William, although my husband was hoping to have one of your lush pies (I had told him about them from a previous visit of mine, but the very nice young lady waiting on tables said if we ring ahead next time that you could certainly do a pie, so we will be back.

Lovely birthday lunch on Sunday for my mother&#039;s 85th. Service was friendly and helpful. Good choice of food and especially welcomed the generous selection of vegetables. The cauliflower cheese was especially good. Only criticism is that because of the stone floor etc it is rather noisy making conversation difficult.

Good value for money. Of particular note is that many of the dishes come in two sizes. Great if you are trying to shed a few pounds!! Friendly staff. Good parking.

The King William just gets better and better. The food is beautifully cooked and presented without ever straying into pretentious &quot;gastro-pub&quot; territory. The simple and tasteful ambiance is perfect and the service is friendly and prompt. By keeping the menu short but doing everything well, the Chef strikes exactly the right note. The only problem is that it is now so popular you really do have to book ahead most nights of the week. We love it.

We visit the king Williams at least every 5 weeks and the food is outstanding. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much bother and they really look after myself and my friends. Absolutely love it here

We always get a good meal at the King William and have no hesitation in booking. One of the things that I always comment on is the fact that even if there are 12 of us in the party they never cease to bring all our food out together. Nobody is kept waiting. Very, very good service given by friendly staff and the food is always first class.

I took my parents for Sunday lunch for my Dads birthday he was 86, we all cleared our plates, which I think says it all

We have been to the King William on many occasions and have never had a bad experience. The food, service and ambience are consistently good. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anybody. One of the main reasons we like it is because most items on the menu can be ordered in 2 sizes so that if you don’t have a huge appetite the smaller version is more than adequate.

Excellent location just on the outskirts of Bath with B &amp; B also, very friendly staff with excellent service. A very good menu with a wide variety of choice. All three courses were outstanding. I would rate this the best restaurant around.

We had a lovely family evening in the restaurant to celebrate my husbands 60th, the food and service was excellent and the staff all very friendly. We have been here a few times now and it never disappoints always an enjoyable experience.

The food was excellent as always. One of the waitresses had such a miserable face almost the whole time but her colleagues made up for it particularly one of them. It&#039;s a lovely place, can&#039;t wait to be there again.

Could not be happier to have this as our local. Staff are always so friendly and helpful and the food is yummy. Some half portions too if you have a small appetite.
